Weekly Update - 4/19/23

Well, most recent chapter of Breakpoint dropped for Tier 2 subscribers and up, and hopefully everyone's getting a kick out of that. That story in particular lets me stretch some muscles I haven't had a chance to use in a while. The story's a slow burn, but I feel like there's so much happening beneath the surface that it's tough to tell when I'm deliberately letting things simmer and when I'm trying to sneak things past you all. ;) I will say, I am doing both with specific parts of it. But which is which? I'll never tell...

Also felt like we got a great reaction to the most recent Morgana's Gift, which went in a direction I think nobody had on their bingo card. Stuff like that's fun, because I'd had that idea for a while, and I tend to scribble down ideas in my little idea file on my phone. I'm going to throw up another poll tomorrow on what our other user selected story to get a chapter will be. My best guess is that it's down to Before The Storm and C.A.R.P., which got a fantastic reaction for its first chapter over at LE/EMCSA this past week. No lies, there were more comments for CARP over at LE than almost anything else I've done for them in quite some time, which is good! I also got a couple of emails from the EMCSA crowd, saying it's some of my best work ever. I'm wondering if I should lean towards first person perspective for more stories - they do seem to certainly connect well with people.

I still have one outstanding commission from last month, and that's my top priority once I get up tomorrow. After that, I'll be working on commissions for this month, meaning you'll see new chapters of A Pack Of His Own, The Devil's Details and the first chapter of Quaranteam: Aisling's Antics dropping over the next ten days in some scattered approach. The way it works is generally when I send next month's release to the commissioner, I post last month's submission to them to the Patreon. Commissioners get a month to themselves to review content, see if it fits with what they want and request changes. I may also be able to drop the first portion of a project called The Fertile Grove to Patrons some time soon as well. Just waiting on a green light from its commissioner. QT:AA is going to be a 10-part story, starting with before Aisling's arrival at Andy's and covering up nearing the end of QTB1. I've got the framework mapped out, and it's certainly going to be a lot more light-hearted by contrast than QT:MM or QT:PP was. A lot of people have remarked on how well everyone gets along in Team Rook, and I think you'll see, it's not quite as easy as it looks. ;) Anyway, expect most of that to drop sometime between now and the end of the month. The current plan is that Pack will take up the Friday release slot, but who knows - it might be Fertile Grove or even QT:AA instead. One of the four will definitely take up the Friday release slot, though, as I work to get everything into a more regular scheduled framework.

I'm also going to do a double-sized episode of Brewster's Brood hopefully on 4/25, but we'll see how much I'm able to hammer out this weekend. I'm trying to get spun up to being able to do two BB updates a month, but this month, what with the likely impending strike on what may or may not be part of my DayJob, things have been a little bit challenging. I'm getting a lot better at this, but still not entirely on top of it yet! The last You Decide! for the month will slip into 4/28, and I'll put that poll up when I get up tomorrow, with it closing bright and early Monday morning.

The public release schedule for the next month or so looks like this: 4/22 - Devil's Details 5, 4/29 - The Threadbinders 5, 5/6 - C.A.R.P. 2, 5/13 - A Pack Of His Own 1, 5/20 - Quaranteam 2:1, 5/27 - Morgana's Gift 13. That's right, for those of you who were wondering, Quaranteam Book Two will start hitting the public at large towards the end of next month. I promised it would start hitting the public sites eventually, so there you go. That's the anticipated launch date.

I realize this weekly update is technically being posted on 4/20 and not 4/19, but it was mostly done when I went off to my regular Wednesday night poker game. I swear I hit send, but apparently the wireless network had gone flakey again... whee! Technology. I didn't see it until I got back and did a bit more flushing out, since I'd written the first draft in a rush so that I wasn't late for first hand. Anyway, stay safe out there and have fun! And if you're a genre fan, finish up The Mandalorian and Star Trek: Picard before someone spoils either for you accidentally!
