Weekly Update - 11/9/22
Added 2022-11-09 22:06:50 +0000 UTCWhat a week it has been.
So, let's talk about the elephant in the room -- I missed a release last week, and I'm sorry. I hit sort of a perfect storm over the last week, and let me give you the short version. Last Thursday, it started to rain here in Northern California, with the temperatures dropping suddenly. Then we had the time shift. Normally those two things don't coincide, so they acted as a sort of force multiplier. And on top of that, I hit a spat of writer's block, something that hasn't happened to me in over a decade. But after pushing Breakpoint 3 on to Tuesday, and still struggling to get there, I went to bed last night at 10 pm, the first time I've been asleep that early in a long long time. (For those of you curious, I'm generally nocturnal, and go to bed around 2 am most nights.) And I slept until almost 11 this morning.
And now I feel like I've come through it, with a clear head and am ready to get writing again, so I don't want to spend too long on this update instead of trying to get content done, so let's just go through what our adjusted schedule is going to look like for this month.
Friday, I'm going to post The Devil's Details 5, and then next Tuesday I'll post Threadbinders 5 followed by whatever the Tier 4s and up vote for on 11/18. (Currently it's looking like either Janus Coins or a second chapter of CARP, but there's still days left to vote.) Then I'll be taking 11/22 & 11/25 off for Thanksgiving - I won't be seeing family, but my oldest and best friend will be in town for a few weeks, which will be great.) We'll return on 11/29 for Brewster's Brood 24 (which will also include the profile for Lisseth, and a poll for who's in for next month), and I'm feeling pretty confident that I'll be getting QT2:1 out on 12/2.
The print edition of QTB1 isn't looking like it'll make this month, so we'll see if I can maybe get it out in December. January at the very latest. I don't have the cover yet (the friend of mine coming out here for Thanksgiving is the cover artist, so I'll have it by then at the latest) and I still have some edits left to do before I can pass on the revised B1 to a handful of people who have volunteered to proofread it. I really should learn that November/December are chaotic months which muddy everything up. Ah well, maybe when I'm in my 50s.
This morning just before I went to take a shower, I got an automated phone call which was reminding me I needed to go get my Covid booster shot, but also implied I might be eligible for elder care. Never have I wanted to throw my phone across the screen so much. I know it was automated and that I shouldn't take it personal, but meh. Silly coincidences shouldn't get to me.
Public releases for the next month look like: 11/12 - If I'm Honest 11, 11/19 - QTPP 4, 11/26 - QT48, 12/3 - QTPP 5, 12/10 - IIH 12, 12/17 - QT49. (It's worth noting here that the public release of QT50 isn't scheduled until the end of February, so if you're a free reader who's eagerly waiting, you might consider signing up for a month, just to read the Book One finale sooner than then. It's available to patrons now!)
To the commissioners still waiting for owed text, that's literally what I'm writing for the next few days and now thankfully I don't feel like I've been smashed over the head with a slice of lemon wrapped around a gold brick, so you should see something in your inboxes soon, or as soon as I feel like it's good enough for you to read it. I must've thrown away 5000k worth of words over the last week, because it all just felt hollow and sad. But now I'm back, baby!

Loved The Cult from their "She Sells Sanctuary" days through the 'Electric' album. Didn't realize that they'd put out a "new" album in 2022, though. REALLY liked this song.

2022-11-10 16:47:01 +0000 UTCGlad you're feeling better, CP. I tried my hand at a serial novel several years ago for a guild of friends, and only had one release a week. Only about 3K words a week, and still only made it through about 2.5 months. I bow to the Spirit within you.

2022-11-10 14:12:52 +0000 UTCSorry to hear about your recent challenges...but I am stoked to hear that you soldiered on defiantly. Don't worry about the missed release...everyone needs to take some time to course correct every so often...and if you don't, sometimes your subconscious does it for you. I think I can speak for most people here when I say we all love your writing, but we understand that life has the occasional hiccups every now and then. Thanks for all the work you do for us.
