But I have to give you a little "tough love," You--and countless other farang in Thailand--do the girls no favor when you speak that disgusting bar-girl English with them ("where you come from," "how long you work here," etc.). I (as a language teacher, of both English and a major Southeast Asian language--not Thai) have a theory that it is precisely farangs speaking baby-talk English with Thais that is a major cause of the HORRIBLE state of spoken English in Thailand (as compared to, say, Cambodia, the Philippines, Vietnam)... PLEASE! Speak NORMAL ENGLISH to them!! It will serve as a model to them! And I guarantee you, they will understand you!! Stop going out of your way to speak English like a 5 year old/mentally retarded adult. Because in doing so, you're just perpetuating the abominable pronunciation and grammar of English that is already rampant in Thailand.
