Peter was breathing deeply, and had his hands shaking as he took a seat next to the murderer's car.
Resting on the cold pavement of the car park, Peter saw a reflection of himself in a broken shard of glass on the ground.
Looking at that fragment, Peter saw the masked man that had inspired fear in the criminal.
Seeing this ‘strong’ figure, it gave Peter confidence that what he had done was right. That when he walked around as Peter Parker, he was just a wimp, easily bullied and pushed around.
But when he put on the mask, he was different. He had to have the confidence to do more, to be better.
Calming down his breath, standing to his feet, and squaring his shoulders, he looked out to the city.
Wearing this mask, he wasn't Peter, he was Spiderman.
Clenching his fists, he gazed into the city down below, and saw that as night descended, a different crowd began to emerge.
Coming out of the subway exits were hundreds of people wearing masks. Carrying anti-mutant signposts, bottles, crowbars, and baseball bats, they began to move towards a store Peter recognized.
It was Pryde's Pizzeria, a place he loved to go for his birthdays, and held a special place in his heart with the memories he made there with his Uncle & Aunt.
‘What are these protestors doing at a pizza shop?’ Spiderman questioned himself.
Hopping to another section of wall to get a closer look, Spiderman crawled closer.
“Down with muties, down with mutey's!” An obese woman shrilly screeched on a megaphone.
“Down with muties!” The crowd chanted back.
Someone in the crowd tossed a brick at the pizzeria, shattering the glass.
A girl screamed, and Peter felt his heart constrict.
He recognized that voice, it was from one of his classmates at Empire State University, and the daughter of the owners, Kitty Pryde!
“Go away, please, we are nothing more than a pizza shop! See, we even posted the anti-mutant signs on our shop, we hate mutants too!” A balding, chunky middle aged man stepped forward, and waved his hands while shouting.
But the crowd didn't give the man any attention, and pushed him to the ground.
“The mutey is in there, get her!” The obese megaphone wielding woman yelled.
“Yeah, fuck the mutey!” An overzealous man in all black attire ran forward, and tossed a molotov cocktail into the building.
“No, no! My daughter is in there! Kitty run! Run, Kitty!” The man cried and tried to run into the flaming building, but was held back.
Within the pizzeria, a lithe, short brown haired, brown eyed woman somewhere between 18 and 20 was surrounded by fire, and was looking around in a panic.

“Run Kitty, run!”
“Papa!” Kitty choked on her tears, and almost collapsed due to the smoke, yet she yelled out to him as she witnessed him taking a beating.
Rubbing the tears out of her eyes, Kitty felt helpless in this situation, all she could do was run away…but she couldn't leave her papa behind!
“Leave my papa alone!” Kitty yelled, but the crowd's noise was too loud
She bit her lip. Her father had told her never to use her powers in public, but if she did, she might be able to save him!
All she had to do was run through the flames, then phase him through a few alleyways.
As soon as Kitty was going to act on this plan, a masked man dropped down and hung over the mob on a rope.
“Hey, if all you can do is beat on an innocent old man, and a young girl, than you're at the wrong place! If you want a mutant, then I'm right here!”
“Mutant! Mutant! Get the mutant!” The obese woman shrilled.
Someone threw a brick, but the masked man kicked it back, causing someone in the crowd to collapse with a bleeding scalp.
“Playtime is over kids, don't you all have work to go to tomorrow?” The masked man taunted.
People started tossing more and more things at him, but the masked man swung all over the place, and tossed the objects back with twice the force.
Within a minute or two, dozens of rioters were on the ground moaning in pain, and the crowd had dispersed in fear, running every which way.
Witnessing this all, Kitty was going to run to her father to check up on him, but she started to feel faint, and her vision went dim.
Collapsing forward, she felt herself collide with a skinny, yet solid body.
“No girl is falling on my watch.” The somewhat familiar voice spoke.
“Who. Are you?” Kitty bit out between gasped breaths.
The man paused in his step.
“I'm Spiderman.”

Peter had just rescued the girl, and began CPR on her father, when cop sirens began to honk, and police cruisers started to arrive.
“Guy in the mask, step away from the girl, and raise your hands! This is your only warning!”
Spiderman ignored them, and kept working his hands ‘1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 breath 1,2,3,4-’
“No, stop, this man saved me!” Kitty stepped in between him and the police, with her arms spread wide.
“Run to us, girl! He is a murderer, and is a danger to society!” The cop said on the megaphone.
“Spiderman?” Kitty turned back, yet no one was there.
Spiderman chuckled at the little disappearing act he just did, and watched in happiness as Kitty realized her dad had woken up, and she was crying in relief hugging him.
Feeling a pang in his heart, this scene made him think of Aunt May.
‘Oh no, Aunt May! She must've received the news, I have to go comfort her!’ Spiderman thought to himself in a panic.
Swinging between buildings, Spiderman in a rush to get home, but during his journey, he saw so much crime, he felt conflicted.
He wanted to do nothing but hug Aunt May, and hold her in his arms. To share their memories, and cry about the loss of Uncle Ben.
Yet the words of his Uncle rang in his mind.
With great power comes great responsibility.
Sighing to himself, Spiderman knew that he was needed. If he hadn't acted today with Kitty, another tragedy would have occurred.
If he could make time for her, he would have to make time for everyone else.
After all, he had promised.
Narrowing his eyes, Spiderman cracked his knuckles as he witnessed a teen holding a couple at knife point.
“Your watch, phone, and yeah, that necklace, give me the bitch’s necklace.” The goon in the leather jacket threatened.
“Please don't do this, we're not rich, this is an heirloom.” The lady cried.
“You think I'm joking?” The criminal stepped forward, and poked the knife at the boyfriend's ribs.
Spiderman arrived just in time to web the goon's hand to the pavement.
“What the?!” The goon yelled in shocked surprise as he tried to remove his hand from the sidewalk.
Spiderman dropped down with an axe kick, and crunched the goon's arm in half with the ease that a child would snap a stick.
“Oh my God!” The woman fell onto her ass, and covered her mouth in fear.
“Spread the word, this is the fate of all criminals in my city.” Spiderman then kicked the would-be mugger in the chin, knocking him out cold.
He then tossed up a hand, and started to swing away.
“Who are you!?” The boyfriend cupped his hands and shouted at his back.
“Just your friendly neighborhood Spiderman!”
Swinging from place to place, Spiderman encountered four more muggings just like the one earlier, and every time, he would break something significant, then leave them on the ground unconscious.
Seeing the criminal's looks of fear, and the grateful hope coming from the victims inspired him, that he was doing the right thing.
As the night went on, he scared off a few kids who were graffitying a house, and carried an overdosing lady to the hospital.
After this long and productive night, he had finally returned home near 9:58pm.
However, when he entered the tiny house he called home through his bedroom window, Peter felt that something was off, as he heard tv noise coming from downstairs.
At this time of the night, Aunt May would always be asleep.
‘Maybe she was staying up waiting for me?’ Peter mused to himself.
Feeling guilty, he came downstairs to speak with his aunt, and prepared himself for a verbal tongue lashing due to his absence, yet what greeted him was stunning.
The front door was wide open, and several things in the room were smashed.
“Aunt May!” Peter called out in a panic.
His voice echoed throughout the room, and he searched every corner of the house, yet he couldn't find her!
Beginning to feel panic, Peter was going to go ask the neighbors what had happened, when out of the corner of his eye, he saw Aunt May.
Only…she was on tv?
Peter didn't recall her ever going on any shows in the past, yet a LIVE logo in the bottom right corner clued him in that this program was happening right now.
“Hello, I am the Joker, and this is everyone's favorite tv show, Slime Time! It's a program where I ask the participants questions, and if they are incorrect 3 times, they get slimed!” A pale faced, green haired clown widely grinned into the camera.

Then the scene panned out, and a half dozen people were seen chained to desks.
“These are our lovely contestants. Why don't you introduce yourself.” Joker held a microphone to a man's mouth.
“Y-you're fuckin crazy! I ain't playing no game, let me out!” The man hollered.
“Wrong answer. Harley!~”
“You got it boss!” A blonde clown girl dressed in red saluted, then pulled a lever.

A tube above the man rumbled, then tons of gallons of green slime poured on top of him.
Steam rose from his position, and he, along with the desk he was chained to disappeared.
“Oh no, it appears one of our contestants caught the acid slime, silly me.” Joker slapped his forehead and spoke as if he had made a mistake.
“Oh well, you can't win them all. Now, how about you little lady, what's your name?”
“Aunt May!” Peter cried out in worry.
Eyes glued to the screen, Peter tried to see if he could discover anything from the set, to try and find out where his Aunt had been kidnapped.
As the camera panned around, Peter paused the tv at a particular point. He saw a fake dinosaur tail, and recognized this as an abandoned Nickelodeon set Uncle Ben had taken him to as a kid!
Hurriedly throwing on his suit and mask, Spiderman set out without looking back.
He had lost Uncle Ben today, he would be damned if he lost Aunt May too!
