Reacting to RM's 'Right Place, Wrong Person' album

Hey besties! I want to upload this to Patreon so that you can watch the full album reaction + MV reaction before I spend the rest of the day having to edit this into 3 different videos for YouTube probably. LOL! Enjoy.

Reacting to RM's 'Right Place, Wrong Person' album

Comments

RM1 is very intense but you can see through all the albums literally RM's emotional arc. First album he wanted to prove himself to the world as in that time they were receiving alot of hate with RM getting alot of shit from the underground people who would insult him by either stating that he can't rap fast or that his lyrics are shit so the first album is good but very angry. I do like it even if I dont listen to it as much as Mono and Indigo. This album my favourites are the 2 singles and Nuts

I relate to you so much haha my first impressions were "I dont know how to feel" but as I am listening again and again I am starting to change alredy

This album gave me total vibes of Tyler the Creator, Childish Gambino, or a hip hop album that is so experimental with production that your kinda confused 😭like “Scaring the Hoes” by JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown that came out about a year ago, that album is probably what I would compare Namjoon’s to the most. I really dig the experimental sound he’s been doing the past 2 years or so. I thought the album was gonna be more singing or “alternative pop” like a Billie Ellish or Olivia Rodrigo but I was so suprised by the rock and jazz influences. It totally went past my expectations. I love the opener and my favs are probably Nuts, Heaven , out of love, and around the world in a day. I don’t have twitter (or X😒) so idrk what people’s consensus are on the project, I can totally get it might not be for everyone but I also think it will reach its target audience perfectly. This is such a huge step in Joon’s artistry and I would also say in kpop to an extent, I feel like a lot of indie artists or ‘smaller’ artists in the US are really pioneering the alternative ‘weird’ music with different vibes, especially with hip-hop, there’s just so much you can do with it in terms of production and vocals. I can totally tell Joon got some of his inspiration from those type of musicians. I would love to see some kpop artists or groups being a bit more experimental. We all kpop is experimental as it is, but I feel like it can definitely be expanded upon and introduce people to new sounds, that they probably wouldn’t have listened to otherwise. Be a little bit more daring and screw public perception

RM 1 is such a good mixtape, but it's an actual mixtape he remixed and sampled, songs from iconic rappers and wrote his own lyrics to it. I think you can appreciate the lyrics, and what he had to say. I don't think it will be your preferences, soundwise. He sampled J Cole, Drake, J Dilla and Major Lazer on that one.

Around the World in a Day was my favourite track too! I had the same reaction you did - first skeptical about that guitar coming in, and then being just in love when the song all came together at the end with Moses' layered vocals. Really really well done. I feel like this album was so cathartic to RM, and I'm glad that he took the time to get it done before his enlistment.

So far Comeback to Me is actually my favorite although after hearing Lost watching your reaction it is very catchy it might be my second fav but I might need to listen more cuz I do like the vibe of Heaven. Man I've realized I don't always get the best first impressions of songs that are so very different, maybe I'm just gonna have to marinade on this album a while. I do feel a bit sad that I don't feel what others seem to be feeling but maybe it will take some time for me to adjust and even if I don't or it's just not my vibe in the end I'm glad Namjoon was able to do exactly what he wanted to. And the lost MV totally reminds of Sexy Nukim MV like the gritty film filter look in some scenes, I also got a little bit of Everything Everywhere All At Once vibes too which I know Namjoon talked about that movie. I loved the story & the core family in that movie it made me cry at the end but I will probably never watch it again, I guess I'm a big prude cuz there was just way too much unnecessary sexual or phallic imagery laced throughout the entire movie it was just super distracting. Especially when the story is centered around a mother & her accepting her lesbian daughter but I'm sure there is some logical reason someone will explain to me but it was too much for me I guess lol. Anyways, I hope Namjoon got the catharsis and creative outlet he needed with this album. I adore Mono and Indigo is a very close second, I will just have to see how I feel in the future.
