Chapter 8 of Rise of Bangtan!
Their 1st music show win!

THE RISE OF BANGTAN | Chapter 08 | REACTION

Comments

When I Need You was released, I wasn't an ARMY yet. But I, as a casual listener, was so surprised with it. So, I could understand the intense reactions of ARMYs back then. At that time, I knew BTS as a hiphop idol group. It was such a huge departure from what I "knew" of them. And it reintroduced BTS to me which led me to being an ARMY. And same, I couldn't understand those claiming to be "former" ARMY. Are they saying, "Yes, we were there before you and has long since moved on..." Oh well, this ARMY and countless others are here to stay. ApoBangpo! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

It also made me kinda sad that they couldn't let them enjoy their first win. U can c that they're not as excited after that first one. In my opinion, i can understand that at the time they might be confused w/ the idea that BTS was so big outside of S. Korea and thought kpop's papularity started and ended w/ the S. Korean fandoms. That was then but NOW, they could never make those kinds of allegations. I always find it interesting to c "former ARMY " come in to ARMY spaces to announce that they USED to b ARMY, it's like then what r u doing here now?! It's some serious "I need attention" energy. I personally don't have expiration dates or a limit on things I enjoy, I might devote a little less time to it cause life but the love doesn't go away.

Austin you could watch Xceleste bts storyline explained video https://youtu.be/2-DEu3ZJtEU?si=KcLWKvkNTMQ9GvEB

I was intimidated by the storyline at first so I ended up watching Xcelete Explanation video first to see what it was all about. Then I went back and watched all the videos in order. I enjoy watching good explained videos cuz I'm not someone who can figure things out that easy and I think it's more fun to listen to other's interpretations & converse with other army about it. I also enjoyed watching Anitra with Caitlyn's reactions to storyline, I got to revisit things but also hear their thoughts on it. I also deeply appreciated Anitra reading the notes books out loud with us as I couldn't afford to buy them at the time & had only read some notes piecemealed together from some I had gotten from the albums and others people posted online but the dates (they read like diary entries from each member's characters perspective) were all over the place while the Notes books puts things more in order.

We could always watch Youth on here when it comes out since it's based on the HYYH storyline! That would be fun to watch together.

Hi Sir Austin! If you put the following into a search on YouTube - [월요병예방] 웸블리에서 공연하는 'BTS'의 미니콘서트?! l #피크닉라이브소풍 - you will find the rooftop performance. They performed 3 songs (it's about 12 minutes). The talking part in available too but not with english subtitles.

I'm the same way with stories and lore in games and in kpop. I enjoy reading or watching videos explaining things, but I often just don't have the bandwidth (or the free time) to explore it on my own that deeply

Nick

That was my first thought. They couldn't even afford to do that 😂

Sir Austin

Ok so I think the sajagi guy was just talking about it in general. And if I remember right BigHit put out a statement saying that the sajagi accusations were false because they didn’t have enough money to even try it.

It’s so funny to me how Jin put the lipstick on everyone else so messily, but then applied it perfectly on himself - he knew the power he had holding it 😆 Glad to see you back 💜

They couldn't afford extras and actors, that's why staff are acting.💀 The BU was kinda born out of necessity to stand out creatively, because at that time they still struggled, and actually thought they had no future if the Album and I need you don't do well. The I need you Demo is on Proof, yes. This was after Dark and Wild, which left a huge void because it didn't do well commercially and on charts, and the members thought they gonna break through with it, because they all worked so hard on it in the US. They mostly survived on Bank Investment in the early days, they almost went homeless pre debut, so the pressure to get results after 2 years was huge on them, but also for the company, and their families. Bighit was always on the line of Bankruptcy during that era. They also went to court in 2015 with barely any finical resources because plagiarism rumors went in hand, with the chart manipulation statements and accusations, and they posted the court statement to get people to shut up. The members addressed in some FESTA Dinners and the Book how horrible 2015-2018 were, especially online.

Your story about Adele was unfortunately me with BTS when they first blew up here in America in 2017. At first I was kinda sad about it, they wouldn't be this amazing secret group that I had anymore. Obviously I'm so happy and proud of them for their accomplishments but back then as a 15 year old I was a bit frustrated and I don't even know why! But yes I've also encountered a lot of people who aren't army anymore because of them becoming so big which also makes no sense to me.

If you wanna know about the storyline but dont wanna deep dive into it this video is perfect to watch. Its a summary of it all. Its 55 minutes long. https://youtu.be/2-DEu3ZJtEU?si=mujbvW_PDscgXvO-

I looked it up and the xCeleste video that I think would be best is the one titled: "BTS STORYLINE SUMMARY + EXPLAINED | 2020 UPDATE" - it's nearly an hour. (I wasn't sure if the 2020 update was an addition to the 2019 or a retelling with updated information, it's the latter - so you can skip the 2019 one completely and still get the story so far). The 2020 UPDATE includes The Notes, and is up to date with all sources of information released thus far.

I don’t know a ton about sajaegi, but I’m pretty sure the guy talking about it in the video wasn’t accusing bts of sajaegi, he was just talking about it in general. I don’t know if BTS addressed the rumors back then, I don’t think they did but it was before I was an ARMY. But at an end of year award show more recently (I think 2019 or 2020?) Jin made some sort of comment during an acceptance speech about how he hopes artists in the music industry would be more honest and a lot of people think he was referring to sajaegi then, so I guess it’s still an issue.

If you search youtube for "bts picnic live" you'll see the clips from that roof top performance. As far as I know, there isn't a full video of it and it's only divided into individual clips - but maybe someone else will know a resource I don't. You guessed right and the Malaysia trip was for the 2015 Summer Package. For the storyline - I agree that you shouldn't do anything that's not enjoyable for you. If you just want to know the storyline for yourself and not make content out of it - I suggest purchasing The Notes, which is in two volumes and for sale on weverse - it's two novels that takes you through the storyline explicitely. If you DO want to get content out of it - I think the best explained videos are from xCeleste, she has one from ~2019 and a second update. My only caution with her videos is to pay attention when she says something is a THEORY - a lot of people take her conclusions as fact, but she includes some speculation in the videos, since she's also just piecing it together like the rest of us (and also her first video, though really good, was published before The Notes novels was released). ("The Notes" used to be included in short segments randomly in physical albums - the released novels are compilations of the album notes, plus additional storyline.)

When it comes to the storyline, I only watched BTS videos connected to the storyline and read the webtoon called "SAVE ME". The webtoon is pretty easy to understand and it explains most of the storyline rather well. The rest of the storyline is in notes from albums, books and in a mobile game that has been discontinued and is no longer available for download :( there is a site that lists all of the storyline related content: https://www.usbtsarmy.com/bangtan-universe-guide XCeleste made pretty good videos with BU explanations, the newest one is from 2020. One thing is, the storyline is not finished yet (at least as far as I know). There's a drama called "Begins ≠ Youth" coming out this year and it's related to BU. Also, bts alluded to releasing 10 year anniversary album for "The most beautiful moment in life" series. Maybe we will get more BU related stuff with it.
