THE RISE OF BANGTAN | Chapter 02 | REACTION

Not sure why I decided to watch this today after the enlistment news.  :(  LOL!
But Bangtan content always makes me smile.  I'm nervous about the next episode but am really enjoying this series!

THE RISE OF BANGTAN | Chapter 02 | REACTION

Comments

yeah, it's still sad and not fair for him, I think it was kinda mess up to do that to him, I'm sure he one time said he wasn't even sure if he was going to debut with them, keeping him in the back for three years is something I can't imagine, how he was feeling and overcome all the pressure of no one connecting with your history or personality like the other members, he didn't have that opportunity. Also Taehyung one time yelled to Bang PD, because he didn't even know his name when they have already debuted and he was very serious, even if it was a funny clip, he was mad about that... I'm happy he overcame all of this things and more, he's such a strong person💜

I stand corrected 😆

Now Jimin and abs is an interesting situation. From what we heard in a festa related radio fm video, it did come out that originally in the choreo everyone was going to do the ab reveal but then the choreographer changed it to only Jimin which everyone else was relieved about but Jimin was worried and shy. In that festa video it was revealed that Jimin kept telling RM that he didnt wanna do it because of the pressure BUT he did start liking the reaction he got from the audience so after getting that energy he liked doing it. But because of that, Jimin became known as the abs guy and Jimin (I speculate here) kind of internalised it? Like following on from that in the early years he tried to keep the abs because he was known for that and he really didn't come into his own brand of gender neutral androgenous looks that he is currently known for till Wings era, so before that he tried to hold onto that because of the reactions he got so its kind of complicated.

Hi Sir Austin! You mentioned BTS' debut being a fluke, which appears in a fan made guide. That is very misleading and not really true. Their debut "performance" one could say was a fluke, as their appearance on MCountdown was moved up a week due to another group who were supposed to debut June 13 dropping out because a member got injured/ill and so BTS was moved up a week. So that became their debut performance stage. But they still would have debuted on the 13th with the Melon Debut Showcase performance (which was filmed on the 12th but aired on the 13th), it's just that MCountdown aired earlier in the day than the Showcase.

Thank you Sir for the continuing lovely reactions, I am enjoying them as always. Regarding the issue of the abs reveal is addressed in BTS's 1st Anniversary show; the pretend radio show for their 1st Festa. As I understand it, the original plan was for all of them to lift their shirts, but PDnim told their dance teacher that only Jimin would do it. They didn't give an explanation but did express that it was hard for all of them to maintain what they felt they needed to in order to show a good view. Jimin was nervous about the reveal but it didn't seem like he was forced to do it and very soon he became not only used to it but enjoyed the attention. Now, he may have later on developed concerns about the nature of his true appeal to Army but I truly hope that he has realized that he isn't just some pieces of abs for us. (sorry, bad pun) Anyway, the yearly anniversary shows are usually pretty revealing and probably a bit more chaotic than their other content is, but so much fun. I'd recommend them. Maybe one a month will get us to Jin's return? Keep up the good work!

about the martial art, 2PM (2nd gen) were very athletic too, and BTOB were form in it too like GOT7

All the members showed their Abs/tummy in WAB pt2 in the dance practice. And they talk about the gesture during a live anniversary. They were all so relieve to not do that. It was a choice by the compagny that just Jimin will do that

Yes, the guy with the fake mustache who fell out of his chair was jungkook lol. They had a lot of these random videos in the pre-debut/early years haha. I loved this reaction (I also got a little angry at the prank before I realised it was a prank, jk did put a lot of pressure on himself and it must have been a huge relief to find out they weren’t being serious. That was literally his 16th birthday! So young!) I think Jimin was uncomfortable with the ab move at first, I believe it was the choreographer's idea, and you’re right that he was underage (17 yrs old), but he felt more confident once he saw the audience’s reaction. I’m glad for his sake that he left that “muscly manly” persona / image behind him, because he seems much more at peace these days with himself and his more androgynous/delicate presentation - he really cringes watching old footage back nowadays 😅 I remember him telling his younger self to “hurry up and be me soon.” The deleted scenes are great, I’m so happy you’re watching them together, they didn’t fit in the narrative structure but offer so much important context.

I think, considering bighit was really small, they were trying to get as much buzz around them as possible. Pre-debut army already knew 6 members so after debut, they’ll discover another member and maybe be more engaged with the group so they can get to know him better? Like keeping it fresh by adding something „new”. That would be my guess in trying to understand this tactic.

I also don't get the point of them keeping Tae as a surprise member. I think it was in their last Rolling Stone cover where even Tae says something along the lines of til this day he doesn't kno why it was done that way...

Jimin was the most athletic one. He did not get that body doing nothing. He did 8 years of martial arts plus his dancing so he was in top form. I don't think any of them were comfortable lifting there shirts but jimin liked it after all the cheers he got everytime he did it. He and JK are the only ones who do it stlil this day. I am curious how buff they get in the military and if more of them want to show off thier bodies after, I am here for it if they do 💜

I think it was their 100th day "radio show" or one of the early pieces of content, Jimin talked about how he was uncomfortable about showing his abs at first, but the audience response made him more confident about it and he enjoyed it. That being said, he's since told us that it's something we should never expect from him again... so I think Jimin in his 20s has put that sort of thing firmly in the past with the debut persona that he had. Other people mentioned it - but he did struggle a lot in the beginning with what sort of persona he should have on stage and the image that he should project.

i would definitely say jimin was putting on more of a 'manly man' act back then. not to say jimin isn't masculine, but with a lot of the things he'd say and do, you could tell that he was trying really hard to appear a certain way. jimin has talked about how much he's grown as a person and how his way of thinking has changed and how he doesn't have to pretend he's a 'strong man'. he can freely express and be himself now with all of his femininity AND masculinity and isn't trying to become the perfect 'manly man' anymore. it's really so inspiring seeing that growth. you see him talk about that in the Love Yourself Seoul dvd i believe.

I was so happy to see you posted this. It’s been an emotional week and BTS content (especially appreciating baby Bangtan) is such a comfort. Thank you for the reaction. 💜

Taehyung quit the saxophone to start learning dance, he said that in an interview💜 He studied music and learned to play piano and saxophone in high school, after that he started dancing and singing... I believe that's why he totally nailed his audition, because he wasn't even intended to do it, he just was there to support his friend (not anymore, I believe he talked bad about Tae), but Tae shared with us he did everything he thought, dance, singing, beatboxing, play the saxo, etc... and he actually was the only one in Daegu who passed the audition💕 It makes me really sad to watching him saying he was there with them since the beginning, I don't think it was fair to just hide him in the back for marketing, I can't imagine the pressure of fans not knowing about you but everyone else on the team, he didn't have the opportunity to create a image or connection with ARMY in that time... I'm happy he overcame all of that stuff fast and BTS was never complete without him, BTS is 7💜

About Jimin in these era, I don't think or believe Big Hit was making him do that type of things obligated. But I do know Jimin was uncomfortable, because of his body and the pressure to have that type of image, Jimin was 18 years old if I'm not mistaken and he really changed so much with the years... I believe he was pressuring himself to have that image and I remember one time reading something that he said about people only liking him for that (absolutely not true, he's been always an AMAZING person, artist, dancer and vocalist). About the acrobatics, I never thought he was uncomfortable or scared to do that, he still does that in some choreographys, even in concerts when he's in the moment, just to show how he defeats gravity HAHSH he's awesome💖💖💖 I've been watching him doing random splits, cartwheels or high kicks just for fun ^^
