The answer would be yes lol Three of the members sued SM to get out of an unfair contract (both the length and distribution of money earned) and won! It was because of this case the that the courts determined that contracts could not be more than seven years. The three then formed JYJ, which was quite successful despite SM having them blacklisted and basically unable to promote thru the usual programs. One of the members, Xia Junsu, had a very successful run as a solo artist. He now mostly does musical theatre but recently performed at Weversecon. J-Jun went in a hard rock / metal direction for his solo work. I'm not sure what Yoochun has been up to. Junsu is one of my favorite soloists. He is... dramatic lol Anyways thank you always for your reactions. I have a lot of fun watching these with you even when I've seen them before. Have a nice day!

2023-07-11 23:07:59 +0000 UTCThe performances were all great so far. I agree with Armystic about Oneus´performance. They did well, but the highlights were most done by the dancers. I didn`t expect them to choose this song or a 1 Gen band in general. I thought, they would do a BTS or EXO song. I like that they did an older song, this was unexpected. So far I like Golden Child, ONF and TOO (TO1) Verivery were good, too. I like what they made out of Mansae, but I think they could do better. I am looking forward to the other 2 performances. 2023-07-08 12:53:22 +0000 UTCThat rising sun song felt like it was 7 minutes long… I kept thinking it was over and over and over but it would transition into some other part .. it was so long! Promoting their own song is exhausting… this performance may not be 7 minutes but it was def long w very few breaks for them to breathe before the next part. They murdered that honestly they were fire from beginning to end… felt impossible how much energy and power each brought the whole time! The oneus performance was cool but at the same time it felt like almost all their highlight dance moves and jumps were all backup dancers and I can think of only one that was their member. That’s cool to use dancers and stuff but I’ve never seen the backup dancers take so much of the spotlight like that… they did that kinda where one member is doing their part while dancers dance around them mostly and then rotate to the next guy… it was still really cool and I saw they were great dancers so lost a little for me bc of the dancer spotlight a lot of the time BTS also covered shinhwa t.o.p. 😂 The intro and choreo golden child did looks exactly like the BTS black swan intro for the PTD concerts lol and the choreo has got quite a few similar moves…. Makes sense since they’re both about swans. Makes sense bc can’t really do swan dances too different… they’ve got the same style. The intro with his hand in the air looked Jay like jimin in his black swan solo part … it’s fun they all drew inspiration from the same idea but they all have a little bit of something that separates them…. Love art!

BTS would be smart for someone to do.. of course the big names … exo, bigbang, ikon , monstax, seventeen or stray kids… tvxq … I’m blanking lol but yeh so many more I didn’t mention… wonder if anybody would do a pentagon song… since one of the groups is from their label as well I think. That may be a bit too smart with the group right there.. but hey they may vote for them that way! Lol but yeh totes agree on smart choices

2023-07-08 09:47:47 +0000 UTCFor episode 2 my ranking was/still is ONF, Golden Child, TOO, Verivery, Oneus. Watching this episode again today has me so excited for ONF now that all the members are back from their military service. For the TVXQ performance people still perform OT5 TVXQ songs no problem, everyone and their mother has still done covers of Mirotic long after JYJ left the group. TVXQ themselves just have to rock all those songs as a duo now (I know you probably accidentally said disbanded but they never did just shrunk in size like any group that loses members) and yeah when tv channels can they try to show clips more of the two current members from old clips since JYJ were essentially blacklisted as singers in Korean media (now not really) but even with some other groups as you can see Mnet tried to show clips of all these groups without including ones of their former members like Dawn. Slightly more saddening edit wise is when it was on Kingdom since B.I and Ilhoon left their groups because of criminal charges when they showed group clips of iKon and BTOB on that show they blurred them out.

2023-07-08 06:47:47 +0000 UTCSo most of my favorites performances from this round are actually in this episode (I don't have an order) : ONF (I fell for them at this moment), GOLDEN CHILD and TO1. Road to Kingdom is definitely easier to watch than the super long episode MNET started to do with their survival show little by little. RTK is more straight to the point. The only thing I would have liked for RTK is to have a Sport day like KINGDOM because most of the groups here are so fun and chaotic, it would have been a nice touch For the performances on Youtube, you have the full version but also the one with the reaction of the others groups and actually most of them are sub if it's not all of them I think (you can see the [ENG] when it's have the subtitle) - ONEUS performance, it's actually my least favorite performance unfortunately. I don't mind choosing an old song but yeah I'm not that much into this one. Someone mentionned but the school concept is often done still it's good they had a message and wanted to convey it to the public. However, you will see they get better. ONEUS in ROAD TO KINGDOM are the one who have the most of growth. They get better after each performances - TO1 performance is one of my favorite. For the song, I like Rising Sun also you talked about the issue with TVXQ, as you can see they only showed Yunho and Changmin from the MV but you still can perform the old songs, I don't think there is a problem. The imagery for their choreography is so good with a lot of reference to the sun, the floor work was so cool. I also love the arrangement, they really did make it their own version. Chan is in fact not the leader but he oversee the performances for RTK but won't lie to you, I think he isn't well liked among Kpop fans because he did multiples CA and never apologized when he was call out several times - VERIVERY performance, it's also not my favorite performance, I think it's higher to ONEUS just because the song ? The arrangement wasn't my cup of tea but they truly show why there are one of the best synchronized kpop groups. I still like some aspect of their performance like the wave, I like the fact they kept the part where they all kneel and do "MANSAE". VERRERDISE is in fact their fandom (VERRER) + PARADISE (love the Hyolyn reference you did) - GOLDEN CHILD, first I want to say I'm glad on one point, they removed the NWORD/changed the lyrics because the original song T.O.P actually have it. I love classic music, musical and the Swan concept so they really got me in it. I love the grand opening with the fan, the arrangement is just so good it's totally my taste. Both TAG and Jangjun did an amazing job with their rap part, I love how they feel a bit darker when the singers feel a bit brighter it's like White/Black Swan. The end is one of my favorite part with the dancers as Black Swan and them as the white one, the feathers and especially with the guitar coming in strong. It's just feel so good. - ONF. I knew ONF a bit before but not as much and this performance followed by the others made me fall deep into the rabbit hole, I think it's one of the only Kpop group I'm really invested in now and have most of the albums. You talked about Wyatt deep voice, I love when he sing because it's so relaxing, actually. Talking more about deep voice idols, both him and Leedo are such a duo. Because they have deep voice, Wyatt wanted to get close to him but Leedo is so shy so it was hard, Wyatt ended up in a ONEUS fancall during KCON just to ask Leedo number and do go out together but it took a while before they do that 😂. I remember when they did a twitter space for KCON together and both fandoms ended up just being thirdwheel Seungjun recommending a SHINee song, people who know him aren't surprised, such a big Shawol especially Taemint. So about the performance, for you to know, you talked about the fact they didn't show a lot of behind practices actually ONF have posted a lot of them on their channel you have behind dance practice, recording behind and the maknae Yuto even have a performance commentary series on their Road to Kingdom performance which I think is really cool. MONOTREE the one who helped arranging the songs on RTK for them even have videos on I think two performances? They explain the process of the arrangement they show the different layers etc. The chant at the beginning is a gregorian chant but I'm not sure, it was done by Hwanghyun who is ONF's main producer and worked on most of the arrangement for them in ROAD TO KINGDOM (they call him father, MONOTREE and him work on 99% of their discography), you will see him at some point. He actually worked on the original EVERYBODY (which explain why on Spotify, ONF is the only one who have the song uploaded for this round, he was able to gain the copyright especially since he work with SM). He wanted to give a medevial feeling to it with the chant, one reactor on Youtube got to interview MONOTREE so they asked about one of the song done by ONF from Road To Kingdom since they love it, he ended up talking about this performance. Actually, the groups didn't know about it being EVERYBODY because of the arrangement made by ONF and MONOTREE, it's quite different. Also want to add, I think Yuto choreographed half of the choreography with the help of Seungjun at some point since he was blocked. Won't explain everything but he talk about the process during his commentary series and the concept etc. SHINee actually saw ONF performance, both SHINee and ONF were nominated for first place on Music Show at some point during Don't Call Me and Beautiful Beautiful era. They met and ONF gave them their album and in return they also got a signed album of DONT CALL ME on it, they wrote on the album that they saw their Everybody stage and enjoyed it (Hyojin think it was from Onew).

2023-07-08 01:02:36 +0000 UTCI liked the concept and the arrangement that ONF gave to "everybody" sounding like a new song, I also highlight the impressive stage of to1 (it's a pity that the company ruined them and they no longer have a chance in the industry with the debut of ZB1) and oneus I feel that they're did not give the best concept since the school concept is very cliché and overexploited. my top3 for this round are The Boyz (you'll see in the next episode why they're awesome), ONF and TO1
