Learning about Enhypen. Reacting to 'Enhypen Guide 2023 (A guide to the members)'

YouTube is being weird/strict with the copyright on this one.
Mostly due to the inclusion of some clips from the I-Land show.
So I'm uploading it here for free while I try to dispute/figure out the copyright.

Learning about Enhypen. Reacting to 'Enhypen Guide 2023 (A guide to the members)'

Comments

Thank you for the reaction! It would be really nice to see you watch i-land as well! ❣️

D L

A reaction to their dance practices (once you’ve gotten to know their songs and seen their live stages) are a MUST. They go all out for their End of the Year stages and it’s been amazing. Since my comment is already way too long, I’ll send you links for anything you want later lol 😭 Thank you again for reacting, have a nice day!!

Oh… Stray Kids are short short. Their heights range from 5’6-5’10 💀 As for foreign idols there are many that aren’t from the US, Canada, Japan, China, Hong Kong or Australia. There’s Alex (Drippin) from Germany, Maki (&Team) who’s German-Japanese, Chanty (Lapillus) is Argentine-Philippine, Nicholas (&Team) and Shuhua (G-Idle) from Taiwan, Hanbin (Tempest) who’s from Vietnam, Hanni (NewJeans) who is Vietnamese-Australian; Bambam (Got7), Lisa (Blackpink), Minnie (G-Idle) and many many more. A lot of them are from smaller groups so it’s hard to find them as well the presence of the other countries is bigger but yeah. BTS were in I-Land for a bit, not really involved as the guys didn’t meet them as they met Seventeen. But the BTS members helped with concerns, introduced one of the challenges and left them gifts. They and TXT were there for the final episode too. When you asked about Ni-ki’s special connection to Jungkook it reminded me of their I-Land gifts. BTS chose gifts for 12 contestants during pt. 2 and the members randomly chose their own gift. Jungwon chose RM’s which were two cactuses, Jungwon ended up being the leader of his group (still has one of the cactuses, Injang died like two years ago). Ni-ki received a Hanbok from Jungkook, and he wore it almost every single day 😭 and he ended being the maknae of his group. It’s an extremely interesting coincidence how it happened.

They do have a pretty okay-sized (for a two and half year old group) Japanese discography. There’s Japanese MVs for: Given-Taken, Tamed-Dashed and Future Perfect. They have japanese versions of other songs as well as original japanese songs like: Forget Me Not, Make the Change and Always. Representative Emojis and MBTI: Jungwon: 🐱🐈 ISTJ Heeseung: 🐹🦌 INTP (don’t ever learn it, it changes every three weeks 💀) Jay: 🐈‍⬛ 🦅 INTJ, used to be an “E” tho Jake: 🦮🐺 ISTJ Sunghoon: 🐧🐕‍🦺❄️ ISTP Sunoo: 🦊 ENFP Ni-ki: 🐥🐆 ENTJ Enhypen is a group of 2 extroverts and only one “F”… it’s chaos everywhere 😭 can’t wait for you to continue on the En-Rabbit Hole 🥹

As for Ni-ki, he really was so worried about being on the shorter side during their debut but that kid grew like 10cm in less than a year and quickly surpassed most of his hyungs 😭. As for the clip in 1:20:54, his outfit is different because he was in a solo schedule in Japan for this interview. He was being interviewed with &Team (Hybe Labels Japan group), and in the group they are a few I-LAND contestants and Ni-ki is very close with a few of them. So they had a schedule together shortly after &Team debuted. That’s why their outfits are different lol. Ni-ki’s dancing background is crazy. He started dancing ballet when he was 3 years old, but his favourite style is hip hop. Biggest Michael Jackson fan, went to competitions abroad to dance. They have a room in his house full of Michael Jackson merch, clothes and DVDs, his instagram name and precious “stage name”was Riki Jackson lmao. Michael Jackson’s choreographer trained him for a bit too. He and his older sister have many videos online of their dance competitions with the dance studio or just them two with pair dancing. Ni-ki’s parents own a dance academy/studio and his mom and both of his sisters dance and teach there. Ni-ki taught his own workshops and choreographies when he was 12-13. The Shinee moment? He was part of Shinee Kids in a concert in Kyocera Dome in Japan, and he represented Key in the choreography. He moved to Korea alone when he was about 13 and trained for a couple of months before joining the lineup for I-Land. He’s very VERY serious about his dancing and he doesn’t take dancing lightheartedly, he puts his everything on every performance but it will probably never be enough for him. He can dance every possible style, his limit is above the sky and he’s just 17 now and already made name for himself as one of the best dancers in the industry, next to big names like Jimin, Taemin and Kai. He’s going to be so big one day. And YES! He always a little ✨something✨ when he dances, be it a more dramatic head movement, a certain hands position or extra (but not performance altering) steps. In the last chorus of the Given-Taken choreography, they have to spin once, Ni-ki spins twice and still lands at the same time as everyone else does. See here: https://twitter.com/912print/status/1463522082352820228?s=46&t=GEuGx1jpIVybdFghB_MYrA and his fancams are the most watched out of everyone, like Ni-ki’s are in the million+ views. His fancams are so nice to watch.

About Sunoo… he had a major surgery prior joining I-Land and seemed to struggle with his health for a bit there. After their debut it hasn’t been really an issue. He is very healthy now! Only last year, where he was absent from an MV because he was sick when they were filming it. But I’d say he takes good care of his health and had good defences. When everyone got Covid, he was the only one left at the dorm as he was the only one that did not get sick lmao. He is a very interesting person, pretty reserved and it’s the one we’re always surprised about. He likes horror movies, it’s the best drinker in Enhypen apparently and in contrary of his “bubbly and cute” personality, he’s actually pretty calm. Doesn’t necessarily initiates the chaos but kinda joins in in the middle of it or just laughs. He is the one with the most friends (at least that we know of because his friends are always mentioning him) but the guy it’s not really into skinship which is surprising to some as he can come off as clingy but it’s more like everyone clings to him instead haha.

As for Sunghoon, he started training for Ice Hockey but after watching Kim Yuna (Gold and Silver medalist on the Olympics) he decided he wanted to do Figure Skating next. He was scouted after he was seen in Crayons In My Mind which was an SBS documentary where they followed him on his day to day life as a young but promising figure skater lol. He somehow managed to balance figure skating, being a trainee and a high school student for almost three years after retiring from figure skating and preparing for I-Land. This was his last performance: https://youtu.be/nW0A2sW8SNE. South Korea doesn’t have the biggest figure skating team, Sunghoon was the 7th best in Korea at the time I think. I believe that he reached to one of the highest, if not highest level in Korea and was only missing that jump of being taken abroad by a trainer and actually compete compete if that makes sense lol. He trained with Cha Junhwan (olympic medalist) for a pretty long time and recently performed Black Swan with him on stage https://youtu.be/Zxrh4fj7_JE. So he was really good and could’ve been amazing but wasn’t exactly olympic level. He went to many completions overseas which is impressive. Kid was famous for it tho, some of the members knew him because of it from even before he was a trainee. Had fansites and all. Personality wise, he’s very hard working and very disciplined person. The members have said how he’s great with body management too. He is incredibly introverted, and has been since he was a kid. But with the members, he is LOUD, funny, silly and a big ass goofball. He said that now that he’s in Enhypen he can do all of the things he wanted to do as a kid but didn’t have time nor the friends to do and I remember that every time I see him having fun. He did ballet for a while (figure skating) so his dance style can be pretty contemporary but very controlled and sharp. It’s an interesting mix lol. Unfortunately he is no longer an MC for Music Bank, he stepped down shortly before their tour as KBS doesn’t allow the MCs to miss a schedule 🥲. The current hosts for Music Bank are Eunchae (Le Sserafim) and Lee Chaemin (actor), prior to Sunghoon and Wonyoung (IVE), Soobin (TXT) Arin (Oh My Girl) were the MCs.

Jake was born in Korea bur moved to Australia when he was young. After he auditioned he moved to Korea by himself, he was 16 at the time. I think his parents live in Korea now, his older brother is still in College in Australia if I’m not wrong. He’s very *very* into sports. And he’s always playing sports with Ni-ki (both being good at soccer) and oftentimes Heeseung joins them. And yes, Jake is very smart. I’d say that Heeseung, Jungwon and Sunoo are very people smart, Jake is book smart and Jay is common knowledge smart. Ni-ki is smart but he doesn’t seem really interested in school stuff 😭 Sunghoon was barely in school as he was always training or being the big introvert he is and he rarely mentions school. Jake sometimes tries to explain mathematics and physics to the members (https://twitter.com/keutify/status/1638121812696367104?s=46&t=GEuGx1jpIVybdFghB_MYrA ) or even fans on live (https://twitter.com/borderjwn/status/1647217935113678849?s=46&t=GEuGx1jpIVybdFghB_MYrA). Personality wise? Golden Retriever. That’s all I should say.😭 His music type is like Justin Bieber, rap and hip hop but knows all the popular Western songs (like Heeseung).

Galice

Jay was born in Seattle but moved to Korea when he was still quite young (8 or 9 years old if I’m not wrong) and had to repeat a year of school lmao. So he’s korean american and his english is pretty fluid (he still has family in the states), although not as fluid as Jake’s. And definitely, Jay’s dance style is more ‘hip-hop’. He’s *really* into fashion (has his own fashion segment https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMQ4WMltba-FPZEKFddw15i0HpUD6Hrqk ) and oftentimes helps with the styling of his outfits (he once thought a pair of shoes he own were better fitting than the ones the stylists chose so he wore his instead) and his music taste is more Rock than anything else, also very into Harry Styles. He covered Yuuri’s ‘Dried Flowers’ with the original singer not long ago https://youtu.be/v6jLJtIl_HM. Jay is someone who’s very determined, stubborn and initially may come as intimidating to some. Basically, exudes black cat energy. Guy is the softiest thing ever tho, he’s really considerate and takes care of them all a lot. You might catch him sleeping wherever tho… he falls asleep the easiest. He’s also, Enhypen’s main chef. The rest of the members are really not great cooks so Jay takes care of the cooking most of the times. It’s funny that you mentioned that Jay looked like a brand ambassador in that fancam 😭 (42:36) as Enhypen have been just announced as Global Ambassadors for the Luxury Brand ‘PRADA’ 🥹

Galice

As for Heeseung, he entered BigHit and right after, TXT was announced as the debut team. They trained together while TXT was preparing to debut but he was not meant to debut with them. He’s very close with the TXT members, specially Beomgyu (being both born in 2001 lol). Heeseung appeared in Lee Mujin’s Service last year https://youtu.be/NPWxSUk5000 and released a cover for Justin Bieber’s Off My Face on the same year: https://youtu.be/n4PDo8W2FJQ Heeseung is the oldest… but often times doesn’t act like it. Appointed as the funniest member, guy is the youngest in his family and a total goofball filled with an overwhelming amount of talent. Heeseung is truly an ace, he picks up sports and just things so fast. If he doesn’t know something, give him an hour and he’ll master it. He likes R&B a lot but he seems to listen pretty much anything and everything. Enhypen’s Jukebox. https://youtu.be/ObItwJXIjv0 and https://youtu.be/HG4tYKI7qBo

You can watch I-Land on Viki for free or purchase it on Enhypen’s weverse! Jungwon is definitely a kitten, specifically, an orange cat 🐈😭, the members (specially Sunghoon) have gaslighted him into believing he is a cat, so now he meows on command wherever he goes. 😂 Jungwon is a very interesting leader, he is babied by everyone, even by the youngest 😭 but is highly *highly* respected and boy can be so scary when he needs to. Fun Fact: Jungwon is still the youngest leader in KPOP even 3 years after debut. He’s very caring and attentive with everyone and everything around him. The way that he moves when he dances is so so impressive. He’s so so so sweet, like seriously so sweet. His voice has a very unique tone and he is a very stable live singer too. He trained Taekwondo, but he was more in the are of kyorugi (fighting) rather than Poomsae (technique and patterns) are of completion. Even though he is in on the shorter line is Enhypen, he is so strong. He has carried members for performances since debut when he was just 16 years old. https://twitter.com/jungwonillegal/status/1370347836630392832?s=46&t=GEuGx1jpIVybdFghB_MYrA and has been carrying them ever since then https://twitter.com/wonflicks/status/1603744448231641088?s=46&t=GEuGx1jpIVybdFghB_MYrA. You’ll quickly learn that every member has their own unique dancing style and even though they’re so different, it looks amazing when they’re together. He did a dance cover for Justin Bieber’s I’ll Show You last year https://youtu.be/4ihlqY30BZ8

Oh yessss, I’m so excited for you to get to know them more! I-Land is a great start and then right after you can watch Enhypen&Hi Season 1 https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMQ4WMltba-HzJtax1cT7NDBos5xvVfVT which takes place right after I-Land ends. They had a fan meeting afterwards and then they released Enhypen&Hi Season 2 https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMQ4WMltba-Fke5hQqszPOB09fGsanpOx For this recent comeback they did a comeback showcase! It’s on Youtube but the subbed version is on Weverse https://weverse.io/enhypen/live/4-119178767 En-O’Clock is currently in hiatus (due to the comeback) but has 59 episodes as of now. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMQ4WMltba-EXWrjvNC18Oj4YEGfZKXkO And yes, their performances and choreographies go crazy. Here’s a playlist for their choreographies: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMQ4WMltba-GNsXICbIPUpwS28YVEoe2F and I can send you one for their performances if you’d like too. They do ‘Dance Jams’ every now or then. They dance to their songs, their current favourite songs, old I-Land songs, freestyle and just goof around in their practice room. They used to do them on Youtube but have kinda moved them to Weverse now: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMQ4WMltba-GEFdBCCweb1J2XjD9KyFMz They did a mini version of “In The Soop” which is called “So So Fun” and it was simply hilarious and so wholesome https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMQ4WMltba-GrMZTqRZinxleeALwB6-YV

It's been a long time since I've watched reactions to I-Land I'd totally be into watching it for like, the 7th time lol. It's really one of my favorite survival shows so I always love rewatching it! Their signal song, Into the I-Land, is on my playlist it's my most favorite signal song from a survival show.

kisa1909

Thanks for this Reaction. I did not watch any guides for Enhypen , most infos I got from watching En- O`Clock and some fanmade Videos. You can see in them, that Heesung and Jay are like NiKi`s parents. They cook for him(Jay), play with him when he asks etc. Niki was in a group called SHINee Kids, where he was as Key .I think it was around 2016/17. He has danced with SHINee for multiple stages. This fact was revealed when they debuted. Key had am Eye on Enhypen since then. That`s why in this short video he knew it was Niki when they met. Jake is not the only one who is friends with Stray Kids members. Heesung is in a friend group with I.N and Beomgyu and I think there is one former I-Land contestant too. Oh and there are some Idols from "non typical" Countries, for example : Drippin`s maknae Alex is German, Black Swan has a member from Senegal and one from India, Tempest`s Hanbin (former I-Land contestant) is from Vietnam like one of the New Jeans Girls. I think she is Vietnamese-Australian. But I agree, there aren`t many of them. Maybe Gen 6 Bands will have more. I see in Germany a tendency among asian teens , but not only also German, who are totally into K Pop , they are dancing like crazy , taking vocal lessons, learning korean, so I think some of them will go to global auditions.

Kame

Yas. You should watch I-Land. It was a good watch. I dont think it was shady. Also some of the other contestants are in other groups now like &team and Just B. But its part of their history so itd be fun to watch. And thanks for this reaction. Also I havent seen this updated one yet so good times for me. Lmao.

Nanon ApoBangpo⁷

So I am usually not a fan of competition shows however I really did like I-Land. There isn't a lot of editing manipulation unlike other variety shows. Some people may make you feel a certain way however I then remind myself that these are teenagers to people in their very early twenties and that means sometimes dumb shit happens. But I really did like the show and it made me come to love the members and also those who did not debut within this group. I also enjoyed the voting system and how it was all explained to us so it would make sense. Anyway, what I'm basically saying is if you have the time and are really interested in Enhypen, then I would strongly suggest watching I-Land. Of course, they also have their own variety content if you just want to skip that but since most of us watched the show, this was how we were originally introduced to the boys. Thanks for giving the babies (yes I know they are adults but I'm 32 so these are all babies to me) a shot. Their music isn't always to my taste, I usually don't like their lead singles compared to the b-sides; however that has now changed with their last two comebacks. Anyway, I hope you decide to continue your journey and if you happen to stan these babies like me then welcome to their madness.

Gabrielle Renae

Although i-land was kind of a good show i can't bring myself to watch it again it was so painfull to watch for the members that didn't make it, even tho the ones i was rooting for make it to the group, i always get attached to every participant that's why survival shows aren't for me i don't watch them, i have only watched i-land and that was all for me and survival shows 😅

Bianca Lucia Tejerina

Ok…..I had no idea about Niki and Key (also my Shinee bias), that was adorable af. The fact that BTS seem to have slightly mentored them and Stray Kids/SVT apparently love them….I’m gonna have to look more into them. Especially if they got the Hobi and Bang Chan seal of approval because, well, it’s Hobi and Bang Chan 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hobi knows talent and would NEVER lie about it when he sees it and Bang Chan literally picked all of Stray Kids so he also can spot talent a mile away lol. *sigh* man, BTS being on a group hiatus until 2025 has led me down on these crazy rabbit holes lmao. I have no idea how I’m keeping up. As someone who doesn’t really know Enhypen well (I knew most their names and some of their backstory), I could say that this guide, while it provided information I wasn’t aware of, it also didn’t really delve into their personalities that much that I have come to be aware of through TikTok/shorts/and variety shows I’ve dabbled. I feel like (though don’t really know and could be wrong) there is more missing. Otherwise, Thanks for the reaction! I like when you react to groups I’ve never seen as I can get a taste of whether I will like it. I would watch Iland with you if you decide to do it. I’m not a huge fan of debut competition shows because I also get attached, but it’s not so bad when you watch it with someone.

Brittney Danielle

Stray Kids are all short compared to other idol groups. You usually can't tell because you only see them next to each other, but it gets kind of hilarious when you see them next to TXT or a group that has more height. I guess they didn't stand next to SF9 in Kingdom very often, but you would have noticed if they did. There ARE actually 3 Korean-Germans in kpop right now. Yangyang in the NCT crew is one, and there are two others in lesser known groups. Also, on the girl group side of things, there's Black Swan, who has an Indian member - they recently released a song called Karma that they filmed in her home province in India, as in their group they want to celebrate each others cultures. It's pretty cool if you wanted to check it out! BTS is only in one episode of I-Land (besides the very last episode, where they were in the audience, I believe)... because it was covid-times, they also didn't interact with the boys directly, but their appearance was really fun.

Alix Drifty

or if you're looking for more one off performances, their kiss the radio performance of bills (from their new ep) is nice bc it gives us some raw vocals which are always nice to hear and will kind of help you distinguish their voices (sorry for the overload LOL) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1cErmyReho&ab_channel=KBSCoolFM

cyd

I…know nothing about Enhypen other then Niki is a youngin and Sunoo is sassy lmao. Oh and the leader is a maknae line (so that’s cool). so imma watch this lol

Brittney Danielle

yay!! love that you're getting into enhypen 🤩 you mentioned possibly wanting to check out live performances, i recommend their comeback showcase which is on their youtube channel. it is long though (a full concert essentially) so you could react to select songs (If you do choose to check it out, i put my vote in for "bills" and "attention please" as two of the songs). thanks for checking them out :)

cyd

Excited to watch this one! I love watching you discover new groups and learn about the members. I really appreciate that for the groups who grab your attention, you take the time to get to know the members a little bit. It makes your interest seem so much more genuine. Thanks again!

Aubrey L

You're right about Jungwon, he has one of the most distinctive vocals in KPOP right now, which is a huge plus for ENHYPEN. His voice + his dancing - you'll notice his style once you watch more of their content. He just graduated from Hanlim this year, can you believe it haha

kolea626

Alsooooo I’m commenting as I’m watching lol you said “you’ll get attached to one’s who didn’t make it” and that was tough for us to watch in real time because we got SO attached, but most of the ones who didn’t make it have debuted in their own groups now (&team, Tempest, Lun8, JustB, 8Turn, and Blank2y) so it will definitely open up opportunities for discovering new groups as well!

Bianca Pena

That’s where the emotional comes in 😭 it was definitely hard at times

Bianca Pena

Some people told me the editing is shady/bad and it caused a lot of drama and might be hard to watch though.

Sir Austin

YES WATCH LETS WATCH ILAND TOGETHER🥹❤️🥹 It’s an emotional journey but WELL worth it
