Team Beef RoadMap

Firstly we would like to say a huge "thank you" to all Patrons who have joined. We've only been live for 6 days but have already enjoyed interacting with patrons on the Discord exclusive channels and sharing our work, which previously would have been limited to the internal team. I can honestly say I don't think I have seen the team so engaged and positive about future ports and updates.

We've already had had several great suggestions for future possibilities. The general suggestion channel on Discord has become convoluted with suggestions, which we simply don't have the time to check each one in any depth, as well as many possibilities which are not appropriate for us. To every patron suggested game, in the patron-exclusive channel, we will respond having investigated the possibility and give an honest response as to how likely it is to happen and whether it will be considered. In the future, when one team member is free we will hold votes for patrons on what they would most like to see next.

We've already had suggestions that, although aren't close to being verified as viable, show the early signs of being possible. To recap, for a port to be considered, they should have the following character:

Some good examples that have already been suggested:

Serious Sam Classic (Native Port)
Forsaken (Native Port)
WarZone 2100 (Native Port)
Homeworld (Native Port)
Freespace 2 / Diaspora (Native Port)
Amnesia: The Dark Descent (Native Port)
Quake 4 (Native Port)
Prodeus (PCVR - awaiting confirmation of whether Mono or IL2CPP)

We will discuss these more in the future. However in today's update I wanted to give a roadmap for what is already scheduled:

JKQuest (Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy) - Development is continuing at Dr. Beef's incredible pace. We will continue to give patrons exclusive access to development updates and videos on route the first Early Access build (mid-tier and up).

BendyVR - PCVR Bendy and the Ink Machine mod. Early Access for Patrons (mid-tier and up) in October before an eventual public release Q4 2022.

WrathQuest (Wrath: Aeon of Ruin) - Early Access already released (mid-tier and up). Bug fixes and improvements ongoing and will release iterative updates to patrons.

QuestZDoom Launcher Profile Update + Total Chaos. The long awaited update to the QuestZDoom launcher is about half way done. This includes saved profiles (for saving combinations of mods alongside settings and game saves). It also includes the possibility of including settings files in the official downloads, which enables us to distribute a Quest enhanced version of Total Chaos. We've received permission from the original developers do release this. Its a very scary game and looks nothing like the Doom Engine. We can't wait for you to try it out.

QuestZDoom / WrathQuest Performance Proof of Concept - We don't want to talk too much about this one, simply because it may not even be possible. There have been some internal conversations on how performance can be dramatically increased in some mods. We'll be doing a proof of concept development. We'll share our results with patrons, even if it is a no-go.

Doom 3: Rise of Evil - Discord member Defunkt has been working on improvements to Doom3Quest including the Rise of Evil DLC. However it is currently unclear if / when this will be released. We are giving him first crack at releasing support, but if it doesn't look like this is likely, RoE support was already halfway complete by the time we released the original game. We'll look for confirmation soon and if its not coming release our own support.

Doom 3 Mods - We already released support for the Event Horizon mod. There are a few more total conversions that we will test and fix any issues. If we end up with a lot of these, we may well also release a Doom3Quest companion for automatically downloading and installing mods (similar to QuestZDoom and Quest3Quake apps).

Lambda1VR Bug Fix Release - Lambda1VR 1.5.1 is releasing to SideQuest shortly.
- Merged the PR for the New working backpack implementation
- Ability to select refresh rate in Video Options
- Changed deadzones for controllers
- Updated to build against latest Mobile SDK 1.50
- Enabled Extra Latency Mode
- Building against NDK 21.0.6113669
- Removed hacky use of LOAD_GLES2 and use gl4es properly
- Merged the PR adding They Hunger and Afraid of Monsters: Directors Cut

Comments

Would love to port that game. Unfortunately doesn't look possible (PCVR or Quest) due to being a custom Source game and the engine code not available.

Vampire the masquerade: bloodlines. Looks janky enough to probably run on quest 2 native. Love your work. Keep it up beefy bois.

Raze engine games.. duke, blood, ion fury.

That's a plus. It's a fun game regardless of how it's played and it's not even finished yet.

I suspect its because of the MP :-( Makes things a lot harder. Not impossible.
