Patreon Poll: Creating a MAD lore setting
Added 2023-02-09 19:00:02 +0000 UTCHey all!
A quick Patreon Poll for you all.
Would you be interested in us starting to flesh out our maps and themes with some MAD Cartographer Lore to tie maps and adventures together?
(Perhaps) unsurprisingly, Alex & Harrison have been DM'ing and writing adventures for almost 25 years between them, and this has involved an extremely fleshed-out world setting from several campaigns Alex used to run. With so much untapped lore and story sat gathering dust in a OneDrive folder for over a decade, we're toying with the idea of beginning to implement some of this lore to our themes.
This could take the form of things such as:
- Zone or Region maps relating to themes
- Basic Plot Hooks
- Lore on Regions, Flora, and Fauna
However, we're also aware that many people have their own setting or like to situate their games in a much more established setting such as The Forgotten Realms. For this reason, we want to check in with you to see if this is something Patrons would make use of before we commit time to it!
Please take a moment to throw a response in the poll, and we'll see where we stand!
Until next time,
Keep Rollin' those 20's, folks!
Harrison, Alex, & Team MAD

I think it’s a lovely idea, but your main client base are likely looking for system agnostic content to bring their own ideas to? Having said that, the themes are likely to generate content that can always be used agnostically anyway, and then the lore content can be adapted for ideas and personalisation, so I’m all for it!

2023-02-09 21:48:40 +0000 UTCLore, like maps, are tools that I use to inspire me. I’m never going to run a game set in the MAD-verse, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to gleefully steal your ideas.

2023-02-09 19:34:34 +0000 UTCPersonally for me, I like everything system agnostic as well. I don't play any of the WOTC 5E published materials, so all the Lost Mines, Strahd, etc. maps are just things I tend to scroll past. However, I have played quite a few of the Paizo Adventure Paths, so I suppose additional maps for those would be useful. But this is my personal use case and is probably not in the majority, so take it for what it is...

2023-02-09 19:24:25 +0000 UTCHaving system agnostic, albeit fantasy characters, scenarios, and assets would be a big help. Especially if it has 'Plug and Play' aspects. For example "You come across 3 [HUMAN GANG] bandits, picking over a tipped over cart."
