Status Update #86

Happy Friday, everyone. I have September's second status update for you today.

Today's cover image is the first new CG you can unlock in the next release. Ever been so turned on that potentially bad ideas seem like really, really good ones? Well...

Here's a rundown of what I completed followed by the updated to-do list.

Writing

The big push the past few weeks was to finish the script for the next dev build, so that's where the majority of my time was spent. Writing the script is a big bottleneck, so I wanted to get it nailed down.

While executing this, I decided to expand the opening of the next story update to better incorporate the guys who won't be featured heavily. Including that content, I finished writing most of what needs done to meet the first milestone.

Coding

The majority of what was written has been coded into the game using placeholder art where needed.

Art

Dedicating the past few weeks to writing turned out to be good timing. I was getting signs that my GPU (graphics card) was on its way out. Fortunately, with the support I've received from all of you, I was able to snag a new and slightly better GPU that I installed yesterday.

The render quality is a little better for sure. More importantly, the GPU has more memory and more power behind it, lessening the amount of optimization I need to do and lowering the time needed to preview lighting. This is gonna speed up art creation a lot.

Prior to that, I finished 25 new CGs, a couple backgrounds, and new sprites to match the different outfits Connor and another character wear.

Below is the to-do list for the creation of the next dev build, plus other game-related projects. Anything updated or added since I shared the list in Status Update #85 is denoted with an asterisk and bolded.

General Work

Creation of the new Patreon-exclusive guide.

Sprite Code Conversion

Coding changes to simplify how sprites are displayed.

Revised Art

CGs and sprites updated to use the most visibly changed character models; not a top priority.

Restored Content

Scenes that were missed when making the Morning After Update.

New CGs/Writing

"Nice to have" fantasies to go along with Connor's Morning After shower; not a top priority.

Getting to Know You Part 1, Dev Build 1

Before the final update is ready for release, I'll be sharing early, in-progress dev builds with Senior & Graduate patrons that also act as content milestones. This to-do list is for the first of these builds and doesn't contain all the work required for the final version of the update.

WRITING

"Variants" are different versions of scenes to account for choices; there are many choice-reactive dialogue changes in these scenes that are not included in the count.

Love how much detail you put into this! I just realized today that in those final “purple sunset” CGs Connor has his hand over his heart when he’s standing in front of a character who’s open to romance.
