Game Update #2

Hello everyone! A lot of new people have joined my Patreon since I wrote the first game update a few weeks ago. Welcome, and thank you for your support!

I've been working nonstop on part 2 of Day One, and I'm happy to share that the next update will be released later this week to Juniors and Seniors! The update will be made available to Sophomores one week later, and then to everyone three weeks after that. There's essentially a month between the initial early access release and the free public release.

I don't know yet which day the update will go live, but once it has I'll post some release date updates so everyone knows when they can check it out.

Script

The script for part 2 of Day One is entirely finished. This section involved a lot of writing to account for the various branching choices you can make. The most obvious is having an alternate path where Matt joins you at the orientation mixer, but I think the extra work was worth it.

This middle portion of Day One primarily involves meeting many new characters, so a lot of focus was put into making each character's dialogue uniquely them. My hope is that even if you aren't attracted to a character, you'll still find them fun to engage with!

Art

All of the new backgrounds and CGs are completed for part 2. All that remains are a handful of sprites to flesh out each character's expression set. I try to make the expressions as naturalistic as I can, which often means re-rendering if I don't like the final product. Luckily my graphics card can fully render a sprite very quickly, which is a big time saver.

Making sprites should be much simpler in the future since a lot of the poses and expressions are already finished. For many new sprites, it'll pretty much just be a clothes swap (or clothes removal...) and then a quick render. 

Coding

I've only got a few sections left to code and then we're good to go. I do testing as I go to make sure flags are triggering correctly, but I'll be doing multiple full playthroughs once it's entirely completed to catch anything I may have coded incorrectly. In addition to the big obvious changes based on player choices, there are a lot of small ones, too. I of course want to make sure they activate correctly as you play :)

Looking Ahead

Once part 2 is released, I'll dive right into part 3, which will bring Day One to a close. Here's a peek at the flowchart for part 3:

It's minimal on the writing and coding side... but you can see there's lots of branches pointing at different character portraits. As you can guess, this part will involve the creation of a lot of art that I want to make as hot as I can. I've received so much positive feedback for the art so far, and I aim to keep the quality as top notch as I can possibly make it!

While all these pieces render, I'll also continue to expand the flowcharts for Day Two and dive into some initial writing for that section. Here's a look at a small portion of that day; don't worry, the brown section isn't as insane as it may look from afar ;)

That about covers it! I'm very excited to introduce all these new characters to you, and I hope after you meet them you're excited to see them in all manners of undress... er, and follow their stories, of course :)

Wow, those flowcharts look insane, in the best way... Your really are a master when it comes to making branching stories... Just form the introduction you could see all the branching in how you interacted with who, and what changes would occur later on. This is spectacular keep up the incredible work. And thanks ever so much for the game update, it looks like such a fun time<3
