2025-05-03 14:30:53 +0000 UTCI hope u guys will play the game or watch a playthrough at some point, im glad a lot of people are enjoying the show but it’s been such a massive letdown for me (especially this new season). The feel of it is completely different and imo at least it’s already spoon feeding the audience a lot of the plot in a way the game is really good about making you figure out for yourself. It’s a heartbreaking, humanizing, divisive story that deserves so much more than what this show is giving it. I love that you’re experiencing TLOU, particularly this second part, but I hope hope hope that someday you’ll do yourselves a favor and experience the original version because, again in my opinion, it’s so much fuller and more resonant and moving, even just with these few episodes of season 2 we’ve gotten so far. It just doesn’t hold a candle. That being said, enjoy watching, I’m still trying to figure out if I can keep watching myself and if I do than I’ll definitely watch alongside you guys bc your reactions are my fav :)

Joel's death is very upsetting but its not like they killed him off for no reason. His death is the reason Ellie goes on the revenge mission to kill Abby in the first place. plus beyond Joel's death, I can only think of one issue with pt2. And that is the ordering of events. I think pt2 had a great story because if you think about it Joel looses Sarah and because of that he was scared to become attached to anyone else closing himself off. But then comes along Ellie. a girl who is scared to be alone. Joel finds someone to care for but because of that he makes a somewhat selfish decision to stop a cure being made. So he didn't have to go through that heartbreak again. But he didn't realise that his actions would cause someone else to have that heartbreak. Which in our case is Abby. After loosing her dad. She closed herself off, ignoring her friends. Too set on getting revenge (Similar to how Joel was after loosing Sarah). However, after finally killing Joel. She still doesn't feel satisfied. So she moves on. Leaving Ellie and her friends alive. After this she realises that all her friends have turned against her, she finds Lev (That rebel Scar). Abby kinda finds her Ellie. She started to heal and realise that it wasn't her revenge that healed her. It was her finding someone else to fight for. However, while Abby finds herself again. Ellie looses herself. She becomes so set on revenge. Killing all of Abby's friends and leaving Dina and her family to go and get revenge (Again similar to Abby). Abby moves on, even after finding out that Ellie killed all her friends. She even helped Ellie towards the end find a boat. However, Ellie still needs revenge. So she fights Abby, And its only when Abby is being drowned that Ellie finally realises that killing her will never bring Joel back. Abby has healed. On her way to the fireflies. While Ellie is still learning to heal. But still, when she returns home with Dina gone. She realises that she is alone. Just like she feared. In my opinion, I think it's amazing how they show how actions can effect others. And shows how most people, including Abby are not really the bad guys, And that if we were following Abby Journey instead of Joel and Ellie's. I think we would have been siding with Abby. Not Ellie. There really is no good and bad when it comes to a zombie apocalypse. Even Joel did some bad stuff. It really is a heart-breaking story. And is brutally unfair but once you get the story. It really is an amazing game. Not as good as first. But still amazing. However, I definitely think if they changed the ordering of the story. More gamers will understand it and appreciate it more. Maybe that's what they are trying to do with season 2. Sorry, for the long comment...

The showrunners said she got too old to play Ellie once they started shooting. Would have been interesting to see her play Ellie, but Bella Ramsey does a good job too I think. Also you may already know this but the girl that voiced Ellie in the game is the girl that played Ellies mom in the show. Also that's who was singing the song at the end of the episode so it was kinda like her mom was singing to her in a way. So many connections it's crazy!

2025-05-01 20:14:06 +0000 UTCIn my opinion Joels death is sad yes and having played both games i can easily say this is one of the hardest deaths in video game and television history, buuuuuttt think about it, this is just realistic. everything has a return and Joels actions had consequences. One thing I feel the show does better than the game is telling these smaller stories with the other characters, and it helps you get more attached to the characters like tommy, dina, and jesse. I also feel like there is still so much story to tell between joel and tommy, so with that being said joel is dead yes, but there is still so much they story they can tell with joel even with him being gone. GREAT FUCKING JOB on this episode though so far this is my favorite episode of the last of us

So I can't compare the show and the 2nd game too much cause my memory is rusty on the 2nd game but the whole I think the horde thing never happened at Jackson, Tommy was with Joel instead of Dina and Abby beat Joel to death with the golf club instead of stabbing him with it.

Instead of getting stabbed in the neck, he kept getting hit on the head with the golf club, and Abby hit one more final strike to the head, and that was it. Also, what was also different was Tommy being in Jackson, cause in the game he was with Joel, not Dina, and I don't remember, but I think Jackson was not overrun in the game. And instead of Jesse being with Joel, it was Dina. So, for the most part, it was the same, just different things here and there.

I would to emphasise that I have nothing against Belle Ramsey, she is a great actor so please don't come at me!!

Neil said that in those moments where she crawls over to Joel, Ellie thought she was dying she could barely breath and she wanted to spend her last moments with Joel. That scene had me absouluty bawling.

That one bloater that rummaged through was reminded me of the Armored Titan when he broke through Wall Maria. The closing song was performed by Ashley Johnson, the original voice of Ellie from the games. You guys saw her in the show once when she portrayed Ellie’s mom in the season 1 finale. Kaitlyn Dever, the actress who portrays Abby, lost her mom a few days before she was supposed to film this episode. So Craig Maizin decided to let her take as long as she needed to grieve. They filmed all the scenes where she wasn’t needed while she attended her mother’s funeral.
