The Walking Dead (Season 5 - Episode 8)

Comments

You a grown ass man dawg. Relax a bit

Jordan

Beth's death is by far one of the toughest for me, and one of the few that always gets me tearing up even after who knows how many rewatches. 1. I loved her character and the growth she experienced/was EXPERIENCING when she died. Felt like she had more room for growth that was robbed. 2. It was completely unexpected and shocking. 3. You know that several members of the group are going to be absolutely heartbroken with this one. RIP Beth.

Aidan Fitzgerald

Man this one was a tough one 😭

Dayne Cooper

Lol, I think it’s because their are much more realistic dolls they could’ve used. It’s a common thing to use a cheap doll, but the good ones really do make a difference in the scene. All I could think of was Bradley Cooper in American Sniper and that hilarious fake baby scene 🤣🤣🤣

Becca

She had just officially moved to Georgia for filming. When Beth was killed off, the actress was devastated.

Becca

No, the contract stuff was with the actress that plays Maggie. When Beth got the call from the producers to tell her she was deviated. She had just moved into a new place in Georgia (where the show was filmed). They wanted to make Daryl cry but not loose Rick or Carol, lol.

Becca

NNNOOOOOOOO

TokyoLopez

As an older sister myself, seeing Beth's death air on TV was gut wrenching not only because she was a wonderful character, but because I put myself in the shoes of Maggie and it made it all the more difficult to stomach. I miss the budding friendship we were robbed of with her and Daryl.

Brooke Christensen

I hate Beth’s death. So unnecessary.

Deanna Gonzalez

At least you don't have to hear her sing anymore.

fuck gojo

I would've been like 14 at the time when I first saw this episode. Oh yeah. Beths death caught me off guard for sure. Had me in tears

BigDinosaur

There are certain deaths in this show that reverberate through the whole group. This is one of them.

Devlin Ceretti

They did Beth so dirty, her character was really growing this season and then she just gets killed off in such a dumb way

Jani Salminen

Same, it’s a shame those episodes are not streaming. Sorry you don’t recall but I’m afraid she did say that, friend. She also mentioned the sudden firing being stressful for the fact that it meant she had to suddenly put her Atlanta home for sale.

Loren

If I remember correctly, there was some sort of contract issue between the actress that played Beth and the show. It was either that Emily Kinney(Beth) wanted to pursue her musical career. I can't remember.

Jake Hentz

Don’t recall her saying the opposite on Talking Dead. She was looking forward to committing herself to her music. I remember that much. Got the episodes saved somewhere. Always wanted to go back and rewatch them alongside the show

Katie I

Could reply with understanding rather that showing this side of you Erika

Katie I

and idk if you noticed, but the only reason Dawn asked for Noah is because she thought her people wouldn't respect her. ''it doesn't matter if they love you, they gotta respect you'' that's what she said to Beth and unfortunately she kept that mindset until the end. She looked back to her people and was like i can't just let this trade go smoothly, i need the make MY stand... and that's why she asked for Noah back.

alex

When Beth stabbed the cop, the cop already had the gun in her hand, and the stabbing just made her accidentally fire. You can clearly see the cop saying ''i didn't mean to'' and she clearly didn't. It was an accident. Poor Maggie. Also, I know we keep saying that, but... NOW the show is gonna be at its PEAK.

alex

That death would’ve made more sense then what happened. I feel like this storyline could’ve been given to Maggie. We didn’t really need Beth this far into the show. The show failed to experiment with murders and predators who would have been imposing their will onto others with zero repercussions in this universe. But for some reason, we barely see them.

Panashe Chibanda

Lmao

Gordon

Oh lord

erika d cannady

When I watched this for the first time I had no idea Beth was going to die

Tynan Chamberlain

Beths death had me crying sooo bad. Really sucks they built her up like that for THIS to happen. So lame. The show just wants to pull your heart strings lmao.

Skyler Browning

I ain't never seen Vince this messed up! Great reaction!

Hector Avila

No one else could have played THE rick grimes like andrew lincoln did. Phenomenal per usual from him.

Skyler Browning

I remember having so much respect for Rick’s reaction after Beth was shot, how he offered to take in anyone from the hospital. He realised that they were also victims in a way, and instead of acting out of anger he acted out of compassion.

Ronan

If it makes your feel any better Beth was originally gonna die back in season 3. Axel the prisoner was gonna lure her to the woods and kill her viciously but the show runner decided it would’ve been too graphic lol

Daryl's Dog

If wasn’t for Tyree’s stupid plan they could killed all cops took them in sleep and got out the wards wouldn’t have fault back

Matthew Rein

Morgan got that "Book of Eli" vibe going..

PastaDon

Father Gabriel probably didn't believe Rick and gang so he wanted to go see for himself at the school

Johnny_Raincloud

Cop lady didn't even mean to do it. If u watch again the gun goes off then she looks at the group and says no I didn't mean to! Then bam darryl shoots her.

Austin c pates

It’s not. Ever. Disabled people exist in this community. Most can understand that.

Katie I

It was a joke?

Alex

I remember kinda being mad that Maggie didn't go look for her but watching it years later not so much. So sad seeing her react when Daryl was carrying Beth. 💔

Courtney

Beth definitely MVP. Definitely one of the saddest deaths in the show. I wish Carol would have chocked Dawn especially after Beth death which definitely was a surprise when it aired. I remember no sad it is as everyone was crying Rick, Carol and of course Daryl and Maggie.

Courtney

When I watched this when it aired, I was stunned to silence and my stomach just flipped. Didn’t see it coming. And the immediate threat of a mass shootout in the hallway, then Maggie… 💔

Katie I

Stuff like that is never a joke. You find any other kind of bigotry a joke or just ableism? 🙄

Katie I

Twas a joke

Bkk02

well dawn didnt “intentionally” kill her it was a quick accidental reaction to being stabbed…she already had the gun in her hands

lola

dude same watching this live with my parents and then going on twitter after seeing everyones reactions

Matt Impastato

She was such a control freak! The darting eyes when the trade was complete, feeling like she lost control in a FAIR EXCHANGE!! The split second decision to demand Noah was so crazy but she’s literally narcissistic and crazy!

Haja Bangura

Episode made me cry for real. One of the saddest deaths easily

james moore

literally it hurt me even mote now cause as a kid i never paid attention to daryls abuse and jss him in general like i did this time and hes truly losing everyone tht comes close

NorthhSZN

so quick . i was expecting something . just not tht one , not tht i remember as a kid i just sat there knowing i couldnt cry as much infront of my gma but i cried so much now as an adult just knowjng who she is her music , and because of beth greene , just her voice calmed me and since season 2 .

NorthhSZN

man i wish i could go back to when this was aired . the energy was so gooooood man i remember my grandpa made some food , all gathered in the living room , perfect .

NorthhSZN

There were likely a ton of bibles that people brought to terminus, Gabriel's church isn't the only place to get them, yall reaching like crazzzyyy lmao

Ost Tost

Walking Dead does it again I was waiting for this moment for yall to see lol them midseason finales be something serious …🥺RIP Beth, Maggie going through it, also to answer yall question I was sort of shocked as well more so when thinking Beth was clear of danger in the exchange before Dawn said she wanted Noah back

Shalin Carter

MVP: Beth, she really went for it to stop Dawn. Poor Daryl went straight for the kill shot tho no hesitation. Time to go cry to sleep.

ShamefulToaster

Nah why’d yall ruin the baby back pack fight scene for me 😭🤣

ShanB

Her death made sense because you can tell, the writers didn't know what to do with her. I'm pretty sure she's a show-only character, so there wasn't much for her to do. I liked the actress and thought she really drew the short straw on that.

Saberoph

Not true. She was on The Talking Dead right after this aired and said the opposite.

Loren

If u thought this was a sad one Jesus just wait this was more of a warm up for the rest of the series

Jareedy

this death is so intense and shocking but the actress wanted off the show

Emily Rose

Didn’t like referring to Eugene, potentially disabled as a vegetable.

Katie I

Beth's death was one of the hardest things ever for me to watch. I definitely hated that Beth got taken from us as soon as she blossomed into the strong, independent woman she was. All I can ever think after her death is, "You're gonna miss me so bad when I'm gone, Daryl Dixon." Especially, because Daryl is the one who avenged her death by killing Dawn. I actually had to watch this by myself first a few days ago before I watched it with y'all because I didn't want to be crying so hard on this watch through but it is just one of the saddest deaths in TV history 😢😢😢

Geneva Cervantez

Y'all have officially crossed over to the dark side. RIP Beth

Jah (jakwiq) (Jah Quick)

And then the congregation was let in. Half circle

isthatchrisk

From what I read they said they didn't want to kill beth. I saw it some where on YouTube, saying her death was by accident. They basically said they wanted the show to be a jaw dropping moment for the mid season finale and they couldn't think of anything so they killed of beth to make that happen.

nick maldonado

One of the most devastating loses in the whole series, Beth had so much potential

Corwim

I’m sorry but just because you dislike a character doesn’t mean they’re written poorly, dawn is a trash human being but she’s not poorly written. Maybe Beth’s death was but dawn wasn’t some completely not understandable or poorly constructed vilian😭

Kale

tbf she stabbed dawn so i dont blame dawn her killing her, that was such a stupid move from beth there

r a i s

The "can't go back Bob" hits different now that Rick's the one saying it

isthatchrisk

My heart just breaks for poor Maggie. She just can’t catch a break.

Heather Southern

Watching Daryl's scope lift and follow the officers forehead when he raised his head is such a cool detail

Vonster

quicker than the word quick cause sheeshhh 😂😭

Bryan

dawn’s quickdraw is wild west type shi

pe3_l0v3r

Right like they're gonna have michonne carring a real baby on her back 🤣🤣🤣.

Tae Kellz

I honestly felt more for Maggie than I did Beth. She literally has watched her family die in some of the most gruesome and traumatic ways.

Eric W.

I would love to know what he was thinking seeing Maggie's actress kill that moment! I would cry more!

Gail Ferguson

Yes, it was an accident. You can see her look up and try to say that...but that woman was already dumb as hell to demand the young man back.

Gail Ferguson

Most deaths make sense to me, Beth was one of them that still doesn’t. Such a wasted character

Nathan Skye

The last time maggie and beth spoke to eachother was when they were trying to save the people from the prison to get them to the bus

Reponent

Think I can figure out who #1 and #2 are😅

Alexander G

Beth is not MVP! She was good but she made a mistake by doing that... cost her life. So def NO mvp for her. One of the saddest episodes for sure. no one expected that. Even watching it live tv was sad af 😢

Elias Flores

The one death I never understood. she could've left right there and we gave a half a season of looking for her just for her to have such a terrible written death in my opinion, I loved Beth.

Trevor Wright

them desperately trying to connect Gabriel with the cannibals has me gigglin lmao

Kale

MVP Beth . She basically gave her life up for Chris . I been waiting for this episode since season 4 I thought it was happening last season. Beth In . My top 5 characters 100 percent . I was caught off guard first watch . I rewinded that beth scene so many times couldn't believe it first watch.

Tjbosslyfe

Loved Beth’s character so much, her death was so heartbreaking. Seeing Maggie gets me every time

puddle possum

And also morgan finding that map is a big deal. It literally has ricks name on it. So you can only guess where he's going lol

Austin c pates

Now begins era 2 of walking dead in a way. Our people are back to exactly where they started. on the road with no mission no hope no food no nothing.

Austin c pates

RIP Beth...Cant wait for the 2nd half of this season. But also they aint ready for season 6 and 7. I already know.

jblakk

That line just hits so much now

Super Novice

BETH WE MISS YOU 💔

i love you

Not a fan of Beth at all, but the fact that they killed her off just when she was starting to get interesting was a complete waste in my opinion. Also, I think Dawn accidentally shot Beth because when Beth stabbed her, I think she was in shock that she accidentally pulled the trigger, given her reaction when she died.

Brandon Alexander

24 more episodes iykyk

Dalton Kelley

Norman Reedus said in a interview before they shot the scene where Beth gets killed, he sat in a hallway for about a hour just crying purposefully so it can look like Daryl was all cried out when he carried Beth out the hospital…

Bryan

Yeah she was on The Talking Dead right after this episode, said she was shocked to read the script, and cried because she didn’t want to leave the show and her cast mates.

Loren

Exactly I’m always shocked at how bad people in this community’s taste is . The worst movie in the poll mostly win.

JonSnow21

Nah the actor didn’t know

JSM -Tac

Exactly agreed, Rick is kinda feral but you have to be in this world, not sure about this comment, Rick is never overly violent unless he has to be.

JonSnow21

"You're gonna miss me so bad when I'm gone Daryl Dixon." Beth's line from 4x12 hurts a lot more now.. Also have to point out the irony of Gabriel begging to be let into the church after leaving his church members to the same fate.

Joshua Markham

The new worlds gonna need Rick Grimes

Brad

You say the writing is beginning to have cracks , yet the next 8 episodes is arguably one of the greatest stretches in tv history lol . Even if agree with the fact that certain characters were killed off to early I couldn’t say that bc of how goated the season was after they died.

JonSnow21

Beth was a singer and asked to be written off. The circumstances are heartbreaking in the story and I get a gut punch every time. But she left the show in a way no one will ever forget her. RIP Beth

The Ghoul

Beth death is one of the hardest deaths for me. Like Daryl crying breaks my heart and Rick teary eyed and then Maggie’s screaming I just can’t it breaks my heart 😭

Kaycee Rose

no, rick has adapted perfectly, that cop was ignorant because he has been in a privileged position and hasnt been through the same as our group

håkon hollekim rodak

Honestly one of the saddest moments in the show for me 😔 but I guess something you can look forward is that this 8 episode stretch coming up is one the greatest tv stretches of all time, and Demon Rick is soo goated already and gets even more somehow and this season is what made him arguably the greatest tv character ever up there with Walter White and Thomas Shelby (who you haven’t seen yet) . Amazing reaction and definitely the best I have seen to this episode.

JonSnow21

"You're gonna miss me so bad when I'm gone Daryl Dixon."--Beth

Kimo

Dawn did it on accident you can see her mouthing i didnt mean too, she flinched from bring stabbed… still heart wrenching

Jaydon Coyne

This episode remains to be my least favorite episode. I enjoyed watching beth develop into a stronger version of herself, just to have her killed off, it still wrenches my stomach, making me sick. RIP Beth Greene.

Alex Fox

Then again, the TV show did not follow the comics. But even if known for a short time, she owed him for helping trying to escape on top of taking that beating for her when we first met Noah.

Alex Fox

Amazing reaction ! Rip Beth, good riddance to dawn. Personally I wish the group killed all the cops in the prison after Beth died, they’re all pieces of shit in there anyways

Simon

ok Shoshanna we get it it's a fake baby you don't have to keep telling us, it's a tv show and that gun had a big silencer because it's a loud ass gun but it's definitely not as big as a bazooka. 😅

s0l0 !

Y’all gotta remember, hershal was almost exactly like the priest, if not worse he used to save walkers, he ended up being a top character 🤷🏽‍♂️🤣

Simon

Beth’s death pissed me off so bad lmao. Beth is with sweet Herschel now. RIP. ❤️

Dr. Giudicessi of Arachnology (AAS).

Fun fact, Beth was supposed to die in season three in the prison by axle. Axel’s character was supposed to be one of the bad prisoners and he was supposed to do bad things to Beth and end up leading to her death, but they scrapped that idea made axle a more innocent guy, but Beth was always supposed to die, but it’s just so unfortunate. They did Beth so dirty.

Anna

Yea when I first watched this episode when it aired I was in hysterics. I’d rank it as #4 hardest character death in this show, Hershel being #3.

Alexis

I wish to have seen Beth longer for sure. I even hoped that Noah and Beth would get together, but you have to remember that this is The Walking Dead and you can’t be happy for long.

Anna

The cop Bob seems to be onto something when he said Rick’s been out here too long, he’s getting a bit too feral. We’ve seen Daryl and some of the others have to pull him back from going overboard & extra with his violence & things alike

Jack's World

Daryl: “ Ur never gonna see Maggie again”

iMxrcxnary

i did not see beth’s death coming when i first watched this episode. rewatching years later and it’s still so unexpected and a gut punch

kways

Next ep might be my all time fav

Jason Olguin

Exactly. They had been planning to kill her off since the start of season 4 and that’s the best they could come up with to?

Semaj Brown

That's my bad, I must've been thinking of another character, I know this happened at least twice with character deaths. I can't figure out who the other was now that I'm looking into it again. The rest is still the case, though.

Zero

I feel like that’s never really made clear so there’s confusion. They should have had a close up shot of that

Ella

Most incorrect take ever

Ella

I don’t think the time frame is important esp in that world, connection is connection. Also he risked his life to help get Beth out and then bring the group back to get her

Ella

Beth should've went for her eyes or throat on some Feral Rick shit.

thatkidcgonzo

He didn't do anything tf. Beth made the choice to go back to stab Dawn and didn't even go for her eyes or throat. Ya know at least take Dawn with her. It was for nothing. Noah was abused by the hospital group and still chose to go back. He didn't ask Beth to go back. He accepted his fate. Idk what you're on.

thatkidcgonzo

Maggies scream seeing Beth was harrowing 😓

Ella

Shes 39 today. Literally took a 20 second google search after I read your comment, come on bro 🤦🏿‍♂️

Chris Gunmaker

Emily Kinney was already an adult when she joined the show, so that's not why they killed her off. I'm not sure why they killed her off honestly. **MINOR SPOILER** The replies are a bit harsh though because this happened to a different person on the cast. You mixed up the actors.

no name

No one is safe

Kevin Lauture

the way that Gabriel was outside of his church yelling to be let in? Just like the people he had locked out...

Dave Canon

So excited for the coming episodes. Locked in they are going to love it

John Paul Jones

Beth stabbing her is so stupid. She knew Noah for maybe a week and decided to die for him. Really bad writing in my opinion.

Ryan

When I watched this episode as it aired... I swear someone was cutting onions around me.

Dave Canon

Understandable, but Beth was just starting to have a great character arch, and then they decide to kill her off with dawn who was the least memorable villain of the show, it was the first instance of bad writing and the cracks were starting to show with her death

Theo Sebuliba

Bro what 💀 you know she’s old as shit right ? She was in her mid twenties already when she was filming this show

Simon

It makes more sense than the next one :/

Kale

They won’t since awful movies get suggested

Demon Rick

The way it was edited too was so off, it was hard to figure out how she holster the gun up so quickly

Theo Sebuliba

I lowkey feel where this is where the cracks started to form in the show in terms of the writing, Beth’s death made no sense

Theo Sebuliba

Yesss!

Simon

Yeah it was literally holstered yet somehow in a split second she grabs is, upholsters it, points it up at her head and pulls the trigger.

David

We’re getting closer…

Jamael Stuart

I will never not be mad about the fact that Dawn didn't even have her gun in her hand in the literal frame before shooting her. Beth's death has always felt like one of the most ridiculously convoluted and rushed ones. Especially knowing what happened behind the scenes.

Zero

Zero

RIP Beth 😔 They definitely done her dirty with her death through this dumb ahh storyline

Morgo

Literally! When Carol steps forward to comfort Daryl too it just shows how important to the group she was!

gabrie

This was an amazing reaction guys, and like we've said many times, no one's safe in this series, NO ONE.

Fara

To put the timeline into perspective, in universe, Maggie and Beth last saw each other 2.5 weeks before this episode takes place; during the fall of the prison. Felt like a long time to the viewer, but in the show she just lost her, then found her pretty quickly. Also, yes Dawn sucked, but she was the only option to keep a semblance of peace, in whatever version of society that hospital was forming.

Casey R

As soon as I saw them I was like “ahh, the infamous tiny scissors.” Her stabbing dawn and then getting shot from dawns reflex from getting stab will always be stupid to me. Beths death was so unnecessary. She was becoming such a great character.

Aya

Ikr! Daryl’s and Rick’s eyes in that scene bring me to tears every time, the way Daryl looks down at Beth just breaks me. Norman Reedus was sitting just crying for ages before shooting this scene.

Lewis

Beth's death marked the last hope of innocence being ripped away from us. Rip beth

Tyler Bergthold

MVP to Daryl for taking that b*tch Dawn out! Honorable mention is to Rick. I remember watching this episode. It was so shocking. I don't think anyone saw this coming! I was like, "Did that just really happen?" It was just so unbelievable. I bawled my eyes out! Seeing Maggie smiling to just collapsing was devastating. And Daryl carrying Beth out will always be an iconic & heartbreaking moment. When Daryl cries, we all cry. Hang on tight guys because NO ONE is safe in the Walking Dead universe.

Kristy Stevens

Why did i NEVER notice Judith on Michonne's back in that church scene, that is soo funny i've seen this show dozens of times and never seen that.

MochaMishu

I love Morgan's theme song! ❤️

Michele H.

What really killed me was the groups reactions, especially Daryl! It makes me cry every time.

gabrie

You can see the heartbreak on Daryl's face... :(

Michele H.

They did Beth so dirty. And poor Maggie. My love for this show is deep because of moments like this. That no one is safe feeling watching this show always had me on the edge of my seat and makes you care for every single member of the group.

Aaron Alexander

"You're gonna miss me so bad when I'm gone, Daryl Dixon." - Beth

Kahnwald

I remember watching this episode when it came out and having seen the rest of this series, this one still sticks with me. Someone who was a minor character to start became so important to me.

gabrie

Noah is an awful character. He got Beth killed

Big Mike

Especially since the scissors were so small as well, that wasn’t going to do anything to dawn

Theo Sebuliba

One of the most heartbreaking episodes of this series. Poor Maggie and poor Daryl.

Kristy Stevens

Sweet baby Beth. She will be missed.

Biglo

Beth's death was one of the most unnecessary, unexpected ones. it's always so so sad getting to this episode

Naomi

when this episode aired no one saw beth's dead coming, it was a total shock for everyone at the time.

Enric Torres

I thought he wanted to go back! The people at terminus said can’t go back bob..

Trav

This world is so cruel, I was so shocked by this death and truly heartbroken, I loved Beth, this caught me so off guard, it’s like Rick says to Carl “all it takes is one second”. I feel for Maggie and Daryl, what a tough loss to swallow. I’m so excited for y’all to react to the back half of s5, it fucking rips. One of my favourite arcs.

Lewis

ong she stabbed dawn in body armor stab her in the neck

GuntherBv

Beth’s death was so unexpected I hated this storyline.

C. J. Ramirez

MVP can't go to Beth when she stabbed Dawn with those little ass scissors

Kahnwald

Dawn accidentally pulled the trigger when Beth stabbed her. That’s why Dawn was saying “i didn’t mean to” before Daryl shot her!

jaemin’s socks

Beth’s death is still the most random death on this show that I’ve seen, it felt like she was getting a good character arc and then they just kill her off for no reason

Theo Sebuliba

It was so pointless. Like if they were having a shoot out and Beth got killed during that okay. But yeah let’s have Beth stab this lady for no real reason so the lady can shoot her? Beth wasn’t trying to kill her cause she stabbed her in the shoulder area with scissors. Instead of like the neck. So then what was the point?

Semaj Brown

Your reactions are exactly how we all felt!!!! WTF just happened and tears!

Chriss Carter

Can’t wait for 5x09

COORALLL!!

Unfortunately the walking dead Facebook page ruined this death for me and a lot of people they made a post right when the episode finished saying r.i.p Beth 😂

COORALLL!!

Beth’s death still makes no sense til this day honestly, they did her dirty

Theo Sebuliba

When are you guys gonna do a movie poll

Gabes Asmr Mukbangs

I still don’t understand why Beth stabbed her. And if she was gonna stab her, why in the shoulder instead of somewhere more fatal. It just felt weird. I can’t really blame her for shooting Beth cause it seems more reactionary. She got stabbed and automatically pulled the trigger as a defensive reflex.

Semaj Brown

!!!🎶NEXT EPISODE🎶!!! Can't wait for it tomorrow, this gon' be good ;) "What Happened and What's Going On"

Aramon

Rip Beth…Maggie’s last words to Beth were “we all have jobs to do.” And Daryl told Beth when they were arguing outside the house that “you never gonna see Maggie again!” And he was unfortunately right! Cruel world.

Jihad Lee

We lost the Luna Lovegood Doppelgänger🥲

Demon Rick

I've seen so many compilations of that hospital walk out with the "you ain't never gonna see Maggie again" scene. Rip Beth

Bunnarchist

Let's go

Shane Walsh

Here we go 🤦🏾‍♂️🥲

Tre

Beth :(
