I love this episode! It really highlights how far both Daryl and Carol have come from their s1 selves. “It’s like you were a kid, now you’re a man”. He went from talking out the side of his mouth to looking you in your eyes and meaning everything he says. Liar to a non bullshitter, hot headed loud mouth to a man of few words. Ever dynamic. Daryl is the best male role model on television imo, masculinity done right. The intercutting of Carol at different times is so affecting and beautifully done, what a journey she’s had and is still on. I just love the intensely character driven storytelling and deep dive into the human condition. My favourite show beside Atlanta and The Sopranos.

It's a very child-like behavior .....the whole "Ooooh Ooooh you're not gonna believe what happens next but they're gonna run into real dinosaurs and they all die and when I saw it I just lost it".....lol, that's what 8 year olds do when you're watching the movie they've watched 15 times and you haven't seen it yet. It's also what adults do when they can't control themselves and their need to be the one who tells what they "know" before it happens. Crazy, lol. It literally makes me nuts when I see people do that. Lol. I know it's not that deep but it is freaking obnoxious as hell. ;)

She eventually explains this conflict outright, I think next season, but it's something she internalizes and has a hard time wrestling with but can't feel comfortable expressing for a while. Her character development is so beautifully set up imo.

She just doesn't like what she has to do to protect the people she cares about and she doesn't want to be the same woman that sat by and did nothing as she and her daughter were abused or not being able to save Sophia. That's why the situation with the girls hit her so much harder, she felt like she failed them like she felt she failed Sophia.

He would've had them on a fool's errand journey going all the way to Fort Benning, when literally none of them were combat trained besides him and Lori was most likely pregnant. And at that point, they never would've gained the knowledge from the CDC and never would've met Herschel. And that's all assuming the military didn't just wipe them all out on sight or hold them captive, like they were doing in Atlanta and other big cities, if they were even still there at all. I see no reality in which Shane even meets The Governor lol.

She's tactical and smart, but she's not reckless and definitely wouldn't have taken a hit from a car at full speed willingly. She literally would've died if Beth hadn't gone the extra miles to save her.

When Rick banished her, what she did to find/save everyone. But then when back with the group, you see her struggling...which is why I think she was going to try and drive away when Daryl caught her couple episodes back. She's unstoppable when she's not vulnerable...imo

2025-03-15 00:03:11 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favourite ever episodes, mainly because Carol and Daryl are my favourite duo and bond in the whole show 😂 I just love their dynamic, and I love how Carol tends to be more open with Daryl than anyone else and I love the care she has for him and him for her. Them holding each others hand when they thought they might die was heartwarming and heartbreaking.

The other is never shown what it’s from, but I believe it’s the fire that Beth and Daryl started when they burned down that house. Maybe the fires represent the fires burning in carol. She seems to be struggling with something. If Daryl hadn’t run into her out by that car that night, she might have just disappeared from the group and went off on her own. Maybe she doesn’t want to get close to anyone anymore for fear of losing them. Maybe she felt better out on her own. She seemed to be struggling with whether she wanted to go solo or get back with the group. There’s some internal chaos going on inside her.

The fire is a reminder of her conversation with the girls, so she is thinking about them, about Mika dying and Carol having to shoot Lizzy. Carol doesn't want to kill anyone anymore. She is mentally tired and exhausted from that. She just wants to save people without having to kill in order to do so. Basically, she has PTSD from all she's been through.
