The Walking Dead (Season 5 - Episode 5)

Comments

People don't like uncomfortable truths. You say this now but you probably would be desperate for it to be true after seeing everything they've seen.

Gloop

I’m with Vince on this one, Eugene is a very interesting character in this world, and he’s hilarious. Josh McDermitt’s performance is awesome, he’s a great actor cause he’s SO different to Eugene irl and he’s so convincing in the show. I really dig this episode, Abraham is one of my favourite characters.

Lewis

@MrPeran Pfft, tell that to all the people that died for his false hope. Eugene literally wouldn't have been a loss to anyone and Abraham should've been given an informed choice. He didn't deserve to run around on a fool's errand for two years, neither did Rosita.

Zero

Never made any sense to me either, even on my first watch. All he mentioned was "flipping the script" and taking out all the walkers. Still had nothing to do with a vaccine and, like you said, how would they have made and distributed a vaccine all around the world with zero infrastructure or even know where to start? The CDC already told us this was impossible and that nobody else in the similar facilities around the world had figured anything out, Jenner was the only one left. Why would Eugene know anything, especially with how cagey he was about what he supposedly knew. I had this exact same response to the cure bs in TLOU1 and 2, which made even less sense. No way it could ever be that easy, especially when in this universe everyone is infected by default and nobody left alive has any idea what it is.

Zero

Tell a lie or truth enough to someone they'll believe you so long as they fear it's true or want it to be true. Period.

Corey Wolf

At any point when several people died for him he could have came clean

Z

why are you trying to spoil this for them? It's rude. And I'm talking to Panashe.

Amy Fender

Well like it or not, without him lying neither abraham or eugene would be alive. False hope is better than being dead.

MrPeran

Like he said, it was still the place he believed was safest/worth going to. I kinda get it, but he should've just been honest.

MrPeran

Well, people believe in what they want.

MrPeran

This is definitely not a filler episode, information we learned here changes the entire course of the show 😭

puddle possum

I really never understood how anyone believed Eugene. Plus how would they manufacture or distribute the vaccine? Then there’s the issue with what part of humanity is worth saving anymore? I think the dead rising and eating people is the sign that humans maybe shouldn’t be around anymore. But that’s just me. I also could never take Rosita and Abraham’s relationship seriously. He’s easily supposed to be about 20+ yrs older than her. So it didn’t make sense and it was gross to me. But it’s the end of the world and there’s not a lot of options. But as someone in their 20’s, I could never lol😅

Isabelle V.

No it wasn’t, Eugene deserved way worse, he got people killed for no reason

håkon hollekim rodak

Much more annoying than Andrea. She could at least fight and had some actual character development. Eugene just stays like this.

Zero

Watching all these shows is already having an effect on them remembering some of the smaller details, how much do you really expect them to watch at once?

Zero

I can't agree that false hope is a good thing. It shatters people when the truth comes out and their reality is shifted. Just look at Abraham. I really feel for him here, people died for Eugene's "hope".

Zero

It's from the comics. He's saying that the people Abraham had just finished beating to death in the first flashback this episode had beaten and likely SA'd Abraham's wife and children, hence his reaction in killing them, THEN we see what follows with them being scared of him, running away and getting eaten by walkers

Nick Cioffi

I always laugh after Eugene hits the ground and they turn him over and Maggie asks “Eugene, are you there?” 🤣🤣🤣 Eugene is not there at the moment. He’s in another dimension. He was knocked into the next week.

Dave Canon

Sure, but they're watching 2 shows atm, with another one that won a poll coming soon. I just meant that we're prob not gonna be getting invincible until they finish at least one or two of those shows.

Chase

Awww we didn’t get the sash Anna episode update at the beginning 😝

Adam Sterling

He’s hilarious to me

Jesse S

wdym??! there’s no order to what shows they need to watch in any order

Reseigh

I love Abraham and I did not blame him at all for beating Eugene's ass. Up until that last hit. That last hit was a little to much.

Eric W.

What are you talking about? They were eaten alive.

Misa Makes Magic LLC

Yalls reaction when Eugene was watchin Abraham and Rosita.... Hahaha. And then Eugene told them how he lied about knowing a cure. Yall ain't really think it was gonna be that easy, did you? Ha

Jah (jakwiq) (Jah Quick)

Eugene is a scum bag for what he did through and through. There’s no excuse.

Z

I wonder if they have recognized Abraham from band of brothers yet

Dalton Kelley

Oof madon' I forgot how hard it was to watch Abraham put that gun in his mouth. Sad backstory

Johnny_Raincloud

Such an underrated episode. So glad Slab town is out of the way

Johnny_Raincloud

I think we'll get to it eventually, but they still have a decent amount of shows to watch before that.

Chase

need to watch invincible asap

Behran kosal

As poignant as the circumstance was when Abraham saw his family's remains...I could not help but ROTFL when Eugene said, "I think they're gettin' faster...." Gotta hand it to Rosita...even after Eugene's revelation, she was ready to use deadly force to defend him. Abe WOULD have killed him. Also, not just manicured hair...somebody's cutting grass too in the zombie apocalypse.

PianoDean

I'll give Rosita and Abraham co MVP . She had the hand on gun . Ready to stop him if he didn't calm down . Abraham needed a mission .

Tjbosslyfe

💯

Bryan

MVP to Abraham 🏆🏆 Eugene was a favorite until that move, let’s hope he comes back around with some redemption ‘cause the group at the church won’t be too excited either 😂😭

Bryan

16:35 🤣🤣 I know yall weren’t ready for that lmaooo

Alex Ramirez

The way Eugene hits his head on the fire truck then falls face flat on the pavement 🤣 cracks me up every time

Nathan Skye

Seeing Abraham realizing Eugene lied to him, knowing that he gave up killing himself to be with his family...that is the biggest reason he beat Eugene. Wasn't just the lie, but the fact that the lie changed his whole plan. Sad

isthatchrisk

I just thought they were eaten by walkers😂 not too sure about the s/a 😭

Latyah Short

Cat wait for yall to get to the specific episode of this season where the new and final era begins. The early parts of the era are my favorite.

jblakk

That is not even a comparison because they are 2 different situations. Both are crappy people for doing what they did

Courtney

Upset with Eugene for lying. People died because he was selfish. I would be more upset though if one of the group had died in this episode because of being emotionally attached but yeah kinda sucks he would do that. He is very smart though. He hit that pavement hard.

Courtney

I understand you, but oddly enough, this guy irritated me much more...

Bruna

Man I wouldve stomped Eugene face in the pavement lmao

james moore

not even close to annoying as Andrea

GuntherBv

weel here we go, I've never hated a character as much as Eugene, he wins the unbearable trophy, Andrea and Lori don't come close, even my grandmother hated this guy, may patience be with you guys 🤣

Bruna

Once again another banger

Drip Drop

I fucking LOVE the backstory we get for Abe here 🙏🏻! It’s absolutely tragic, the fact his wife & kids were beaten, brutalized & likely SA’ed from what the source material showed, but his reaction to people who were once his neighbors/friends doing that to his family while he was out on a supply run is completely justified IMO

Jack's World

I'm pretty sure there were no fillers in previous seasons, but this one... Regardless, thanks for the awesome reaction to a great episode that finally reveals the stories of the new members of the group)

Silichshev Danila

These always make my day!

Simon

Just kill dawn and eugene, argument solved👍

Demon Rick

Again, have any of you guys watched the whole show? Dawn definitely DOESNT think it’s the right thing. You see that within the next few episodes…

Panashe Chibanda

😁🤣

HBK713🏄🏾‍♂️

Brother Dawn is def a bad human being, tf? You can clearly see this and understand this just by her slapping the shit out of Beth for no reason what so ever, BEth had done nothing to her and she still slapped her.

Kristoffer Smedegaard

Two different situations eugene tells a severe lie because he knows he’s a coward and weak. He lets people die for him but knows it’s not the right thing. But the police lady thinks what she’s doing is the right thing is letting people kill each other and r*pe one another to keep the peace. and knowingly turns a blind eye

Bkk02

Ellen’s and the kids death is on Ellen. Abraham was protecting them and she couldn’t hack it and it resulted in a calamity. Obviously the kids were scared of him but they would understand when they grew. Eugene is fucked up for lying but he’s smart for it because he knew he was weak and a coward but cmon eugene 😔

Bkk02

in the comics the guy Abraham killed sa'd his family, his family seeing Abrahams "primal" side and the brutal way he killed the guy scared them off and sadly got them killed

Naomi

That’s a misrepresentation of the situation. Dawn is the only female superior to a bunch of men who could easily overpower and kill her. Shes trying to the best of her ability to control the hospital without doing anything to rub people the wrong way. We find out that Dawn was the one who killed their former superior. And the last thing she wants is for the same to happen to her and have the hospital taken over by someone with genuinely bad intentions. She clearly doesn’t want anyone to get hurt (as we see later on in the series) but she’s in an impossible position as one of the only women there. Even when Noah and Beth messed up, she had the instruct the guards to beat up Noah solely to keep up appearances. She doesn’t want to seem weak. Otherwise the men will take advantage. Im glad Eguene felt bad and it only took 6-7 people dying for him to get there. The group would have helped him survive had he been honest from the beginning. In reality, he’s a coward who couldn’t be bothered to gain any survival skills. Eugene knew that if he pretended to be important that people would sacrifice themselves for him, under the assumption that they’re saving the world. In reality, they were chasing a fantasy. And (assuming you’ve watched the show) this isn’t Eugene’s worst decision. I’ve never liked him as a character.

Panashe Chibanda

Dawn was knowingly allowing women to be RAPED by the "police officers" and she is holding people against their will, showing no remorse. Yes, what Eugene did was f'd up but he was doing it to survive. The more he saw people getting hurt or dying to protect him the more it began to weigh on him. He has remorse. Dawn is a POS! Of course, this is all just my opinion. Everybody has their own views and perspectives.

Kristy Stevens

great post reaction discussion and viewpoints on the eugene topic.

rae

but it wasnt shane, skill issue

Stray

yeah it really doesnt lmao

Stray

I’m comparing Vince’s reactions to both characters negative choices. Dawn has technically done nothing wrong and Vince was going on and on about taking her out. Eugene on the other hand deserves to get taken out and he’s given remorse. Which doesn’t really make much sense.

Panashe Chibanda

comparing Eugene to the "police officer lady" doesn't even make sense lol

Rylee

Maggie using a Mullet as foreshadowing is wild. GOATED!!

Big Mike

I miss when the whole group is together

C. J. Ramirez

Because it’s a bad take. Eugene is lucky he came across Rick’s group. Any other group would have taken him out instantly. Somehow he managed to come across the nicest people in the apocalypse. Had it been Shane instead of Rick, he would’ve helped Abraham strangle Eugene.

Panashe Chibanda

I have no idea what Vince is talking about. He lied to people and sent them on a goose chase during the apocalypse. This isn’t your parents lying about the Tooth Fairy or Santa Clause, he killed numerous people on route to D.C. They likely abandoned several safe havens because they believed they needed to keep going. He’s a spineless coward who wasted peoples time because he couldn’t be bothered to adapt to the world and fight for himself. The fact that he got grace but Vince wanted the police officer lady dead is so bizarre to me 😂

Panashe Chibanda

I love the take on Eugene, not one heard too often by this point in the show

Thomas Bensen

Of course Eugene is just standing there🤣🤣🤣 and so is Tara😏

Jihad Lee

It is, in fact, very cool to drive a fire truck.

Noah Whitley

I always wonder how many people were able to pick up on Eugene before this reveal, like he's vague as hell, he's always saying stuff's classified.

Bunnarchist

W! guess I gotta stop in the middle of a breaking bad reaction😂

Trevor Wright

WWWW

xxelerate

I already know im gonna enjoy this reaction

xxelerate

Eugene, huh just wait, also that scene where Eugene is behind the bookshelves peeping is a meme so the more you know.
