It’s interesting because I agree it wasn’t carols call to make, but it also wasn’t Rick’s call to make to send her away without talking to anyone.

Had she consulted with the LITERAL DOCTOR, he would've gladly explained the concept of what we call "incubation periods". It's the time period immediately after a sickness enters someone's body, but doesn't show symptoms for 3-5 or 5-7 or even 7-10 days. Depending on the type of sickness it is. During that period it incubates and strengthens itself. Then you begin to show noticeable symptoms. Had she consulted with people who know about the subject, they would've told her killing Karen and David would do literally no good. They were the only people showing symptoms, but they were not the only people already sick with it. She took matters into her own hands on a subject she knows little to nothing, taking a drastic traumatic action that accomplished......... nothing. Is she correct that they were suffering and would've drowned in their own blood? Yes, and most likely. Buy that's why you ask Karen and David what THEY want. Especially considering that killing them without asking, was never going to prevent it from spreading. I could understand if she was a medical doctor, and there was no incubation period, etc. But to take such drastic action regarding a subject in which you know nothing..... and don't even consider asking hypothetical questions from the actual expert who lives with you? It's.... absurd. The audacity. Lol. You would think living so long in an apocalypse would grant one a degree of wisdom. Wisdom starts by being intimately aware of everything you DON'T know, equally to what you do. If you have an idea, but don't know enough about a subject to make an important and informed decision, seek out the advice of those who DO KNOW. I could understand if there were no doctors, or vets, or even a CNA. No books, etc. At that point you do your best with what you have. For that reason, I can never support of even understand Carol's decision and action. Because of the lack of wisdom, and an overestimation of her own judgment abilities.

It ate up a lot of the discourse of the first half of the season. Bob is supposed to be a suspicious character when you meet him, so I totally understand they would have a similar reaction never watching the show

If you look closely, you can see tears welling up in them because he knows that he couldn't. I see her in that prison after what she did, but also knowing that he loved her like a family member and new that if he didn't kick her out, Tyrese would have killed her and he would have been justified. And then both Daryl and Rick would have wanted revenge for her at least a little bit. This was the only way to save her life and potentially others while also taking into consideration that he couldn't really trust her with his kids, given the situation, even though it hurt him to do it... He did what needed done.

NOW? He's living with the constant traumas of the apocolypse. Constantly seeing groups that you destroy and constantly being the lone survivor every time, so now he has severe survivor's guilt. Add that to all of that PTSD? As a recovering alcoholic, I don't think people understand just how much it addiction literally changes your brain chemistry. You lose your sense of self(funny, I just reactes to Inside Out 2 and just watches someone's reaction a BtVslS that was VERY addiction heavy like a couple hours ago and just commented on elsewhere, so this discussion of sense of self and addiction/alcoholism has been following me around since last night lol), and once you're an addict, that never goes away. Sobriety or not, recovery or not, you will ALWAYS be an addict(alcoholic), and not only does the trauma not stop in a situation like this, there's no AA/NA meetings in a zombie apocalypse that can be your support system through it all either. For those who never suffered from it, lived with it, or had to deal with someone going through it, there. Sometimes in life, you can never really truly understand something unless you go through it yourself(and addiction isn't exactly something someone should want or have to go through, but it's the reality). It doesn't stop one from being accountable of their actions, but there'd be a lot more understanding of it all. It's easy to make judgements when one doesn't understand...

It's a tough call with Carol, but despite her actions everyone got sick anyways. I side with Rick. Also, in all fairness to Bob, he did help them identify the meds. I think his experience with losing two 2 groups is enough to make someone an alcoholic. Daryl handled it with class.

She should've called a meeting & discussed her thoughts with everyone, but she didn't & unfortunately there were consequences to that. She has changed. This world changes people, some for the better and some for the worse. She is stronger & more resilient. Rick is definitely the MVP. The decision he made to kick her out was not an EASY decision. You can tell it weighed heavily on him. And I agree Daryl is honorable mention. I think you guys are right, he is either MVP every episode, lol, or at least honorable mention. I just couldn't stand that specific storyline in season 5, obviously I can't say much without spoilers but iykyk 😂 the rest of the series is 🔥 in my opinion, especially since people can binge it now and don't have to wait as long as we all did for a new episode to come out

You forget that he’s a medic and they took him because he has knowledge about what they needed. After Tyrese buried the bodies is when he ran into the other people coughing & showing symptoms. Which is why he had the mad look on his face because it didn’t stop anything in the end. He was just there for the medical know-how and nothing else. Besides that, right now he's just another body like y'all said.

So I think that was also a factor to him leaving her behind, kinda compounded what she had already done to Karen and Dave.

2025-02-04 15:41:48 +0000 UTCThis episode and the next are my favourites of this first half of the season. Rick and Carol’s scenes are so beautifully written and acted. This show thrives when exploring moral dilemmas and complexity. Daryl’s group’s storyline is just as compelling. The intensity Norman(Daryl) brought to that scene with Bob was insane. I imagine Daryl has a very complicated relationship with alcohol/addiction and his anger there runs deep.
