Who told you this? Swine flu was nowhere near as big as Covid, it was barely an issue. Covid shut the entire planet down. Plus, swine flu does not have the same symptoms as the flu in this show. They never said it was swine flu, just an aggressive strain of the flu, and it came from the walkers, not the pigs. It'd be closer to SARS, Acute Bronchitis or viral hemorrhagic fever.

You're absolutely right. This was based on the swine flu which was happening not long, probably the year prior or earlier in the year this was going on. It wasn't HUGE thing like Covid, which is what new reactors first think of because it's the most relatable thing they can compare it to and they obviously know it's not based on that(especially with massive, quick spreading, quick, unexpected deaths, and especially as soon as they hear "quarantine"), but it was in deed the swine flu epidemic that was going on around that time, which was 10+ years ago...
