I've always loved this episode. You get to see Michonne break out of her shell a little bit. And Rick gets a glimpse of what he would have become if he had been alone when he lost Lori, and possibly Carl. Him being around the close-knit group helped him not go further into his mental break than he already did. I feel like he gained an even further appreciation for what they have as a group.

I feel the same way about season three. I love how rick and the rest of the groups arc in the season almost dramatically change and develop. But now when I rewatch the show I always skip most of the “boring” parts when the governor is just talking and pretending to be a good person. I’ll watch the important parts just so I don’t forget what’s happening but I’ve seen it so many times that I don’t need to watch like 90% of the governor stuff. I enjoy the governor way way way more in the comics than in the show. His time in the comics is pretty short, menacing, mentally unstable, psychotic, and deranged. They down played him a lot in the show.

And this is the episode that single-handedly saved season 3 for me. In all honesty, I am in the minority of not liking the Governor and his storyline, so this was a breath of fresh air for me. Morgan is one of my favorite characters of The Walking Dead, and him getting a return with all of the other moments that happened in this episode was fantastic. Seeing two British actors having a yelling match in a Southern Georgia accent, is somehow the best part of this season. Not a lot of people talk about this, but it is truly incredible how Rick and Morgan are two sides of the same coin. You see how insane Rick has become after Lori's death, and it is so evidently true that he would've become even more deranged if he lost Carl. He is one death away from becoming Morgan. Which is why I think he has so much sympathy for him. It's not just about him being one of the first people that Rick met in the apocalypse. I believe that Rick recognized Morgan as a reflection, and that's what allowed him to let him be. I got into your channel because of the walking dead, and I'm so glad that I'm here. Good call on you all for manifesting this episode being about Morgan. Let us all just pretend that The Walking Dead put some Marvel text at the end of this episode. That is all I will say. Excited to watch more reactions!

There was a very subtle callback to the first ever episode in this one. When Morgan is passed out on the bed, Rick says "I'm sorry this happened to you" which is the same thing he said to the walker that was split in half in the pilot.

Lennie James is such a phenomenal actor. You've only seen him in two episodes and he's left such an impact as Morgan. Makes you forget that he's also a British actor lol. He deserved an Emmy nomination for this epsiode. This show got screwed over by the Emmy's period. I always saw this episode as kinda of Rick seeing a reflection of himself. You're exactly right. Morgan is what Rick's path has been spirialing to. Rick hasn't hit his bottom but he sees what can still happen to himself as he sees Morgan. Like loosing Carl. He still has Carl, and now Judith. He still has something to hold on to. He still has a support system. A verybstrong support system. It's almost like Rick NEEDED Morgan to be able to come back from the mental state he's fallen into because Rick needed to be convinced that HE can come back from where he's been with his own mental state. If Morgan can come back from it all, then so can Rick. This is definitely Top 10 Episodes of the series for me...

“Clear” is a masterclass of an episode! A little fun fact for ya’ll, in the comics there’s a scene that happens between Rick and Michonne that’s very similar to the scene at the end of this episode where she relates to him about seeing things. In the comics it’s reversed. Rick notices Michonne talking to herself and walks up to make sure she’s ok. She explains that she still talks to her boyfriend and gets embarrassed that Rick noticed her. Rick in a effort to relate/comfort Michonne, goes to the car, pulls out the blackbox phone he talked to Lori on and says to Michonne “You see this phone, I talk to my dead wife with it. It happens, I get it.” Rick in the comics takes the phone everywhere he goes.

In the graphic novels Duane isn’t dead dead he’s a walker. Morgan was feeding him the people who got caught in his Booby Traps. Rick convinces Morgan to join his group but the price is Morgan killing Walker Duane. Morgan goes to Duane and Rick hears a shot. Rick, Morgan and the rest go on their way. At the end of this issue Duane is pictured walking with a chain dragging behind him. Morgan shot the chain, he still couldn’t kill Duane.
