Story plot is mainly supposed to drive character development and while one can say that the plot of Season 4 was not as entertaining to them or as cerebral as another one of the seasons, the character developments in this season and how they naturally got to the places by the end was still well thought out writing. ------ Especially compare it to all other TV shows and this show is still above 97%+ of all shows ever. ------ I think people as a whole just don't want to have to relate to plots involving real world arching political mimicry, because it makes us uncomfortable if we don't feel like the political side we are on in real life is being venerated and validated. These things often feel like an attack on our personal identity and it makes us want to distance ourselves from any rhetoric belittling what we hold beloved.

The only things that happened in S1 was Hughie's gf dying, killing Translucent, Kimiko intro, and a little confrontation between A train and Starlight at the finale. I rewatched 1-3 before 4 and I feel like a lot more happened in 4 than how much people give credit for. HL, Sage, and Neuman's final plans laid out this episode. Tons of character development for almost every character. Everybody has a clear side and goal. (More to the list introduced in the next 2 episodes). But yeah I agree with the good set up. S5 better be a masterpiece!

They infiltrate to plant bugs and try to lure Tek Night to back to their base. They are trying to figure out their grand plan 2. MM sends Hughie disguised as Webweaver because he is invited to the party. 3. Why would Webweaver give them intel and rat out HL and Tek? They literally drugged him and took his costume. 4. HL doesn't hear or smell many things that he 'should' be. Hughie literally said something out loud about him pretty loud he should've heard that too. Keep in mind it's a fictional show and not based on real world logic. Hughie spotting the Seven doesn't change anything they already know they were gonna be there 5. Homelander knows the plan, Sage didn't hide it from him. He is just pretty dumb and doesn't understand how the plan is going to work. He doesn't know the details, just the main points. Thats why he outlines the plan but is unable to answer valid questions. 6. Neuman's goal is to become El Hefe. She has to go thru with anything HL says for the plan to go thru. Remember Neuman and Sage's convo about one hand in the pocket and one on the throat? That could be about Homelander 7. Homelanders speech was about transgender illegals which is a dumb narrative run by the far right to anger stupid people, these people are too smart for that. 8. Kimiko's phone drop gives us more of an idea of how hard it is for her to communicate and express herself to people who don't know her secret hand language they created with her brother. And yes the book names were extremely convenient for the sake of the script, its classic tv 9. It's funny how you found donating to leftist activist groups 'cringeworthy' and 'childish'. Out of everything in the show, that's what you found cartoonish. It was all good when a guy was entering his boyfriends urethra but this one was a no no right? Too unrealistic! it is a way to somehow hurt a masochist. Couldve also been some liberals money going to proud boys or some other group lol 10. About Homelander and Firecracker milk. If you watched episode 4 and comprehended it, you would've understood that the sense of wanting to be accepted and loved has been programmed into Homelander and he cannot escape it. He thinks he can but he never will. That was the entire point of the episode.

Sexual assault on men isn’t taken seriously and his comments on it didn’t help. That’s why people were upset.

2024-08-15 08:08:17 +0000 UTCMy main problem with the season is what you mentioned with the plot, there really is no actual story until the last 2 episodes, it’s felt like they didn’t have a good enough story heading into season 5, so they had to rush it at the end which isn’t good writing, I starting to see why most of the episodes are a hour long, they were trying to do more character driven stories than actual an actual story over the season, I guess it wasn’t working because the next 2 episodes establish a story and it felt rushed because there wasn’t enough time dedicated to it to make it really stick

We have Soldier Boy there to kill the twins, we have Homelander there to kill Soldier Boy and the herogasm stuff didn’t really get drawn out, it was quick montages. In this episode, we get extended scenes in the Tek Cave and it honestly just felt like that scene in Pulp Fiction

Did they not get intel out of him to know what he was going to be doing with Tek knight? Why do they not abort once Hughie spots the Seven? Why couldn’t MM have just used A Train for this operation? How does Homelander not hear or smell any of the things happening in the house? How does anyone not notice Tek Knight being gone for so long or A Train? For Sage, what benefit is there in not telling Homelander the speech and plan before the event? Why is the first question that comes to Homelander not about the bullet hole in Sage’s head? The 1% assholes don’t buy Homelander’s speech because that’s for the VNN idiots but proceeds to buy pretty much the same empty speech from Victoria who doesn’t answer any of their questions? What is Victoria’s motivations at this point? Did Kimiko drop her phone just for them to have a scene where she finds book titles that say exactly what she wants to say at that moment? Why do they keep doing the “is butcher with us or is he not / do we need him or do we not” it’s really tired at this point especially when it’s just the Boys trying something and not going anywhere, Butcher comes back with something up his sleeve and then they join forces again to do what they already should have been doing? I cringed hard when their method to torture Tek Knight was transferring money to liberal activist groups. Borderline cartoonish. Much like Vince, i really like Honelander’s character, but i found the milk scene with Firecracker to be a step back. We’ve spent time developing his realisation of Vought’s programming of him and in ep4 we saw him symbolically “break free” from it. I don’t think bringing back this milk obsession and getting distracted by Firecracker is moving it forward for his character I think it’s easy to forget that in S1 the writing never felt childish and the gore, violence and sexual stuff came naturally out of the raw strength of the supes and their unchecked behaviour. Ever since then they’ve just been doubling down on more and more for the sake of it and in this season it’s more noticeable because the plot is barely moving forward. There’s only 2 episodes left in this season. Alot of fans like the Butcher Kessler twist but it was so telegraphed. I watch this show with my bro and we both called it earlier in the season

And if he flying he can see where the flash is running . An he in the air so he could just fly ahead of the flash . And cut him off . If homelander in room with A train in depends on who runs out of gas first. If homelander chasing A Train he could just hit him with his laser sight while chasing him. If he not as fast as A train . The movies and show have changed who faster between Superman and the Flash so much. It's hard to tell who is faster anymore . The flash can run back in time . So I would think A train faster.

Webweaver is indeed a parody of Spider-Man. I think his costume is easier to get away with since Sony produces this show and owns the film rights to the character. I’m glad Miguel O’Hara didn’t invite him into the Society. (Besides Annie, Hughie is the first one among The Boys wearing a superhero costume. His actor Jack Quaid was also the voice of Peter Parker from Spider-Gwen’s dimension Earth-65 who turned himself into The Lizard.) By the way, the safe word being Zendaya is a nod to the actress currently dating the MCU’s Spider-Man Tom Holland after having portrayed Michelle Jones in the trilogy. 3:45 we ask ourselves that question all the time. 5:38 The show takes place in New York, but they’ve mostly been filming in Toronto as a stand-in this whole time. This just happens to be the first time in the show that they got to film in Toronto without making it look like New York. Shoshana, have you ever gone to the CN Tower growing up? 8:54 lol hahahahahahaha!!!!!! 11:14 Well, this confirms that Tek-Knight is a racist too. 18:57 Like I said before, Canadian actor Nathan Mitchell portrays both versions of Black Noir despite the first one is already dead. This is just the first time we finally get to see his full face in the show. Back in season 2, we only saw his mouth and chin when Maeve (Dominique McElligot) force-fed him an Almond Joy. 39:54 I mean she broke his leg once before… 57:31 If Hughie had taken any more V, this would be happening to him. After having just lost his father, he would probably be seeing him everywhere as a construct of his mind. For all I know, in a similar sense he might also be talking to Robin.
