Breaking Bad (Season 5 - Episode 8)

Hey Rangers, here is another episode of breaking bad hope you guys enjoy our reaction!

Breaking Bad (Season 5 - Episode 8)

Comments

All of Walt’s decisions are his own doing, in season 2 when he stopped cooking meth because he made enough money, he missed the thrill of being a meth dealer and the adrenaline rush and his life became mundane and that’s when he decided to get back in the meth business and this was before he met gus, remember this guy missed the birth of his daughter to do a drug deal, I don’t understand how people don’t see that Walt has been a problem since he got in the game, if he never said anything in the dinner even during season 4 where Hank was about to close the case, he would’ve been Scott free, but when Hank started talking about how gale was so smart and was such a genius, the pride came in and he started talking about how they’re could’ve been another person that was helping him, that led to Hank opening up the case again and it was all downhill after that, he discovered where the laundry was for gus and interrogated him on his origins and he started putting the pieces together on the whole operation, if Walt doesn’t say anything during that dinner scene, he’s pretty much free to do whatever

Theo Sebuliba

Walter: "I don't wan't to talk about this." Todd: "Okay." Walter: "It had to be done." Me: "So shut up then" 🙂‍↔️😏 Btw, y'all had me howling at the noticing Lydia's "nose bending down" thing that I've never noticed before, nor would I have ever noticed it probably 😭💀

Pretty much every fan of this show thinks Gus is "cool" and therefore ignores all the fucked up shit he does, and they blame Walt for everything. A clear example of this is the plane crash in season 2 (which has nothing to do with Gus but is still a clear example) where people for some reason say it's Walt's fault, even though the fault lies 100% with Jane's father. You could backtrack it to say it's Walt's fault because he let Jane die, which made her father crash the plane, or you could backtrack even further to say it's Jane's father's fault because he gave Walt a speech about "you never give up on family" at the bar which made Walt go back to Jesse's apartment. Or maybe it's Jane's fault for blackmailing Walt which is why he was there in the first place that night, or maybe it's Jesse's fault for moving in and making Jane relapse, or Jesse's parent's fault for kicking him out, and so on and so on. You can pretty much backtrack to put the blame on anyone you dislike. When it comes to Walt, I think he knew he had a problem with power and pride, which is why he punched that metal thing in the bathroom after learning he was in remission. He had the perfect exit at that point. He made the money he needed, his family's future was secure, and he could die peacefully, but after getting the "good" news he knew that it was not over and that he had to keep on pushing. Also, I don't fully blame Walt for getting to this point really, I blame Gus (who manipulated him back into the drug game), his love for Jesse (which made him intervene with the gangbangers), and Skyler (giving away his money to Ted). And Jesse was a loose cannon, like you said he lost his shit about the kid, going after the gangbangers which put everything at risk. The point I tried to make is that Mike was wrong, about Walt's pride being the reason everything fell apart, and people don't realize that because they like him and think he is cool. This is something that happens a lot in this show where, like I said earlier, they blame Walt for everything because they don't like him. And yes it's from Walt's perspective and I get that his evil doings are a lot more clear, but it surprises me how blind people are lol.

I’m pretty sure that nobody actually roots for gus at all, we know that he’s a drug kingpin and he’s done awful stuff, Jesse was at his worst in season 3 where I couldn’t stand him at all, the reason why Jesse wanted to kill gus guys was because they killed that kid after Jesse told gus to not use kids in his operation, throughout the show it has been shown that Jesse doesn’t want kids involved in any drug business at all and when those dealers killed that kid, he lost it and also considering the fact that it was Andrea’s brother as well. The one thing I noticed about the show is that it’s through Walt’s perspective since he’s the main character and is in every scene, so he’s going to get critiqued more, at this point in the show though, Walt has become more greedy and his lust for power is now becoming more out of control, he’s had ample opportunities to leave the drug game and he didn’t and Remember when he first started to do this, he only needed 700k for his surgery and he was going to go, but the greed and the ego came in and he wanted more which put his family in danger when he started dealing with the cartel and gus, plus he got way too careless still keeping that book that gale gave him when he should’ve disposed of it months ago, so his own downfall was his fault

Theo Sebuliba

100% agree, and this is something I always find funny with fans of this show. They hate Walt for everything he does, but don't realize he has done, and never did anything Gus would not have done. If Gus was in Walt's position, he would have wasted those witnesses a long time ago, and Mike would not have dared to question it. To talk about Gus, everyone loves him. Despite the fact that he's a sadist (which is very clear if you watch "Better Call Saul"), and he was willing to kill Walt's entire family, who are innocents, which is worse than anything Walt has ever done. They love Mike, even though he had basically no morals working for Gus, and all of a sudden has an epiphany when he goes out on his own and starts to think about right and wrong. And people love Jesse and blame Walt's ego for everything, when it was Jesse who basically fucked up a lot of shit on seasons 1 and 2, almost getting them killed during their 4 days out. Just because people love Mike (I do to btw) they believe everything he said about Walt's ego and him ruining everything is true, when it was, in fact, Jesse who was responsible for ruining everything with Gus (trying to kill the gangbangers). He even stole from Gus when they were making meth and trying to sell it to people who were basically in rehab, which to me is just completely diabolical. He even complained about Gus making much more as the EMPLOYER, which is unbelievable. I love Walt, even though he's a bit/a lot of a dick sometimes, a master manipulator, and his fragile ego causes a lot of problems, but I find it hypocritical that people give guys like Mike and Gus a pass for everything they do just because they are "cool dudes".

TyPan

Not gonna spoil anything, but when you guys finish the series you should watch 'El Camino' straight away, it continues from the end of season 5 immediately and lines up so well if you watch them back to back, love you guys and love the content! :)

I’m always impressed by how well edited that shanking sequence is. It reminds me of the hits on the dons of the five families while Michael is at the altar at the end of Godfather 1

Harry

Walt’s greed and ego is a major turn off for me, I can’t root for someone like that at all especially at this point of the show where he’s becoming more unhinged, I didn’t really like Jesse the first 4 seasons, but I’m starting to come around to him even though he isn’t perfect either

Theo Sebuliba

Respectfully, Jesse used a semi-auto, not a revolver. 👍

Tim Martin

I feel like the characters you guys root for are atypical. Maybe I'm the weird one, but I definitely side with Walt on most things in this show. Not everything, but then again, nobody in this show is innocent (except Jr. and Holly).

Brad Beach

The gun that killed Gale was a revolver (a "wheel gun" as they say) and that is the reason that Jessie knew for sure that there were no bullet casings left at the scene when Walt asks him. The gun in this episode is a semi-automatic magazine-fed pistol. If Jessie used it to kill Gale he would have had to retrieve his brass after firing. Also, I would imagine that Jessie would be smart enough not to keep a gun that he killed someone with.

Kevin

Imagine right when hank realized it was Walt you hear a loud bloop in the toilet.

Bob

Yup@

Martin

Idk if it’s been said yet but when they aired this season live, they split season 5 up into 8 episodes each. So we had to wait a FULL year at that cliff hanger for episode 9. It was torture

Tyler ScreenClub Founder

As soon as walt quits the business hank finds out 😭 the irony

Alex

Please do 3 breaking bad episodes this week 😫

This episode has a lot of callbacks while advancing the story significantly. It's titled Gliding Over All for a few reasons, the episode glides over a good amount of time- 3 months I believe. Obviously the fly and fly poster from the opening scene is a callback. Hank gliding over Walter being his Heisenberg up until now and "gliding" is mentioned in the Walt Whitman poem. Hank's summer job of marking specific trees in a certain grid, crews coming later and finding the trees and cutting them down is a simile for Walt using Jack's crew to take out those 10 guys in jail. I love Walt's realization in this episode of enough is enough. Walt looking at the mangled towel dispenser thinking how far he's come since 4 Days Out specifically, to bringing up the RV at Jesse's- reminiscing on the "good old days". You can see Walt still looks at him as a son. Jr. playing peekaboo with Holly at Hank and Marie's is a callback to the Peekaboo episode 0206. Holly even has orange on for the red head kid from the episode. There's a black beetle (another symbol of innocence) in Walt's backyard in that final scene, also a callback to the opening scene of Peekaboo. Holly is wearing pink in that scene, also symbolism for innocence from the teddy bear in season 2. So many callbacks leading up to one of the biggest moments the audience has been waiting for for almost the entire show- Hank finding out about Walt. The painting from the hospital in 0203 is in this episode but this particular one looks a lot more weathered. A clever way of saying even though Walt is out of the game, he's already departed- tainted and there's no going back to a "normal life" with his family. The man in the painting is departing from his family while gliding over the blue water. "Learn to take 'yes' for an answer" is what Mike told Walt in the past as well as Walt starting to have his drinks on the rocks as a nod to Mike after he killed him. Walt mimicked Gus and Mike after each their death. Lydia's line: "We're going to make a lot of money together" is Tuco's line to Walt from season 1.

Justin

This week?? We need one like tonight 😂 😂

Tim Martin

Oops.. apologies to “Thaddeus Winterson”. I just saw your post. Oh well…great minds think alike, eh?

Tim Martin

The inscription inside the Walt Whitman books reads, “To my OTHER favorite W.W. It’s an honor working with you. Fondly, G.B.” Not sure if y’all had time to catch that or perhaps you did like the rest of us and went back and paused. It’s just so perfect that Hank finally figures it out on the “throne”. But let’s talk about the REAL issue here…why in the hell does Walt and Skylar’s house only have one damn bathroom?? And it’s in the main bedroom??? Jeeze 😂 “Hello, Carol”

Tim Martin

Hank posing for a picture with 10 little softball(?) players and their coach…just as he gets the news that his 10 witnesses and their “coach” (Mike) are no longer of this world 😂 just brutal!!

Tim Martin

Walt out of the bussiness like Jessie is he a good guy now . He left the bussiness. Just joking but yeah Walt vs Hank the fight of the century lol

Tjbosslyfe

So I watch the show with yall . I don't look up anything about show on my own time . I was listening to somebody talk about a different show . And they mentioned hank on the toilet and a book . I didn't have context . Lol but wow crazy episode.

Tjbosslyfe

This is the point we’ve all been waiting for

Terry

would be ideal🤣

Will Woods

Same thoughts as everyone else, thank God you didn't have to wait over a year

allen koch

No, he didn’t use the ricin on Lydia. Yep, shitz about to get real.

Cathy Sullivan

Please dont leave us hanging for a week! We need to get3 or 4 more ASAP lmao. At least one more tomorrow and then the normal schedule for the rest of the week.

Spencer Parks

You beat me to it!

Spencer Parks

What I’d do for an extra episode this week lol

CampingEvolved

The gun wasn't a gun that Walt gave to Jesse, it was just Jesse protecting himself because when he saw Walt through the window, he thought maybe Walt was coming to "tie up loose ends." It's about to get nuts ... Gale had his scribble in his notebook about "W.W." -- which probably WAS Walt Whitman, but then this copy of Leaves of Grass was something that Gale gave to Walt because they had that moment where Gale recited "The Learned Astronomer." In his inscription for the gift, Gale wrote "my OTHER favorite W.W." Hank recognized the handwriting and the shorthand "W.W." because he and Walt had discussed it. Gale probably gave the book to Walt before Walt fired him, but remember that Walt fired Gale to bring in Jesse BECAUSE Jesse at that point was a threat to Hank and Walt was trying to protect Hank. So in a sense, you could also blame Jesse for the beginning of the end. I love the web of character connections in this show. Everything has a payoff later.

Thaddeus Winterson

I want you to know when this aired, we had to wait A YEAR AND A FUCKING HALF for the next episode. And let me tell you the final 8 are tv perfection

Brandon L Bevilacqua

Walts Ego left the book. A lesser show would have had Hank figure it out in a huge dramatic fashion. This was literally perfect and more realistic. Also I see it as Gales revenge from the grave. Maybe we'll get a little extra BB this week?

Mark

Getting back to BB 3x a week now?

Dalton

Next Week's Schedule: Monday: Breaking Bad episode 9 Tuesday: Breaking Bad episode 10 Wednesday: Breaking Bad episode 11 Thursday: Breaking Bad episode 12 Friday: Breaking Bad episode 13 Saturday: Breaking Bad episode 14 Sunday: Breaking Bad episode 15 & 16

Martin

His eyes also almost never leaves walt the entire time.

DKThunder

The gun was not what Walt returned to Jesse. Jesse saw walt through the peephole, and went to grab his gun before he answered the door. He heard from saul about the prison deaths. He thought walt came to tie up loose ends. Instead he gave him money. Jesse was probably feeling a combination of guilt and fear in that scene.

DKThunder

If Walt had been smart, he would have gotten rid of the book as it links him to Gale. But his ego couldn’t let him get rid of it and due to that, Hank makes the connection. Again it’s Walt’s ego that gets the best of him.

Mario Serra

i physically cannot wait until next saturday for more reactions to breaking bad we need it nowwwww

Will Woods

YESSSSSSS If only hank had to pee… 😂

Tia

Remember watching this live and we had to wait a year after this episode.

Raymond Quinn

Now imagine having to wait an entire year after this episode

Jack Holliman

Here we go

DKThunder

Episode Eight: The Hankening

Martin

14:00 Todd was already a red flag, but this makes it worse. His uncle is a Neo-Nazi. This episode concludes the first half of the season, and viewers had to wait a year for the rest. Good thing you don’t have to.

Aldo Gonzales

Penny drops🤣😬

Keeza

Shoshana's reaction in the thumbnail is what I've been waiting for 😅. We had to wait almost an entire YEAR for the next episode when this first aired on TV. We are in the end game now!
