As the camera pulls away from Walt, didn't you think the way it was framed looked like he was already in a coffin? I love this episode. If Season 4 was a roller coaster, this is the top of the big hill before you drop and hit all the loops and rolls. Just hang on.

I mean there's obviously some really insane episode endings to come but the crawl space scene stands on its own in my mind. The acting from both of them, the shock on her face, and his entire WILD range of emotions. It's horrifying. The dread. The soundtrack. The cinematography. The crane shot from the floor to the ceiling as Walt just gets smaller in his little box. Where do these characters POSSIBLY go from here? Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould are the masters of writing themselves into a corner and somehow resolving masterfully by the next episode.

But Ted wasn’t returning the money because he thought it was wrong, he in a smaller sense also has a criminal mind he was telling Skylar he’s not paying the IRS unless he gets more money that can totally bail him out and start his business again. That’s why Skyler asked if he was blackmailing her. Also I think Walt started laughing not because he thought it was funny but because he was having an actual mental breakdown in the crawl space. Brian Cranston and Vince Gilligan have to be the best Executive Producer/ Lead Actor pair in television history, and this episode shows that as well as any other. I can’t wait to see y’all’s reaction for the last two episodes! Thanks again for sending them both out Sunday so very awesome of y’all!

2024-06-22 17:42:01 +0000 UTCNo show does tension/panic scenes better than BB. The sound design at the end... that screeching noise... the whole scene is pure, concentrated unnerving anxiety. The dynamic is so remarkable of all the characters clashing at once and Skyler- going from playing peacekeeper for Walt to Marie on the phone. She's like a punching bag getting hit with all of it at once. Walt's laugh makes total sense with the situation he's in. High school chemistry teacher gets cancer, cooks meth then his wife uses the money he made from it and gives it to the man she had an affair with? Many times throughout the show the characters are boxed in in shots by either a door frame or window frame etc. divided by beams or trapped in picture frames. The symbolism in that final shot of Walt laying in the dirt underground- boxed in by the door to the crawl space that he built himself, as if it's saying he’s dug his own grave and he's a dead man walking

But when the cartel didn't see any value in Jessie , Walt made Gus put Jessie back on as a cook . When Jessie was on drugs Walt got him to rehab. Walt ain't good but he has done some good for Jessie. He ran over the guy who killed the kid to protect Jessie . Walt when push comes to shove has helped Jessie . It hasn't always been one sided relationship.
