That point seems stupid, but I'm trying to drive the idea that people watching this show view him as 'this boy' who obviously homelander and vought would be after, and so they can easily see him as a 'resource' that makes leaving with him a pragmatic impossibility. But Becca, who made the painful decision to keep her child after being raped (A tough decision in itself), then raised Ryan, who she named, for 10+ years. Even if you can view that pragmatically, you don't view your son as a resource not worth fighting for, but as a loved one worth dying for. I think the trivializing of her decision is what people are reacting negatively to. Butcher makes it clear he didn't really care to save Ryan as an afterthought, to get his wife to go with him in the first place. Also, the racism from stormfront feels weird only because she is good at using social media ('get with the times, I did'), but she definitely showed obvious signs of it. When she kills the people in the building last episode when going after kimiko and her brother, she kills all the bystanders, who are all black. Her use of an asian racial slur in the last episode was just the nail in the coffin to confirm her racism for those paying close attention, but they still need episodes like this to really make it obvious to everyone (and not just a speculated trait)

When children dont feel their parents love them unconditionally they search for approval from anyone else. And many times that person can be evil. Now more bad and hurt exsists all because a parent didnt choose their kid over their own happiness. Not to mention if they leave Ryan and vought raises him to be another homelander you really think he won't hunt them down to take vengeance on the mom who abandoned him to emotional torture? It's sad but Becca made the best decision for her and butcher. There really is no right answer here but i personally can't see a way out for them if they take or leave ryan

2024-05-20 16:11:53 +0000 UTCU really gotta understand it from Becca’s point of view tho.. if she leaves with butch with her son, not only is vought gonna be after them but the most powerful supe “homelander” is gonna be after them non-stop too because that’s his son and he wants to be in his sons life.. and even tho butch has been looking for her for 10+ years, that means she’s been raising a son for that long, she’s not gonna choose butch over her son which butch clearly just called him a “supe freak” and who would choose their significant other over their own kids so she’s really in a tough spot, u really can’t blame her for wat she did even tho maybe she probably could had let him down more easier lol
