I am not sure whether you guys will actually see this, but I wanted to pass on something cool. Here is a ranking formulated by a guy who has seen film ever nominated for Best Picture. He has ranked them all by year. I don’t always agree with his rankings of all of the ones which I have seen, but it is cool, nonetheless: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vTpLY1sD-kbwj3toCbqPCZ_6-5ysag_vCYxUpUAER7hPA7myTXof_3eX_8qB2Ny6I_Q1OBzwfO1Hjqq/pubhtml

Nathan Towne

I laughed out loud at the Metro-Goldwyn Mayer exchange at the outset of the video. You two are a really cool couple. And yes, MGM is definitely the Lion insignia.

I like this movie. It was way ahead of its time when It came out. Also Hitler invaded poland in 1939 wild how old it is. MGM is the lion. Adjusted for inflation its the highest grossing film of all time.

I’m playing a tiny violin for you

So many young people today are sleeping on the old classics.

Clark Gable (Rhett Butler) was also in It Happened One Night (1934) which was reacted to a few months ago. Gone With the Wind won several Oscar awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress. Hattie McDaniel (Mammy) was the first African American to win an Academy Award (Best Supporting Actress) winning over Olivia de Havilland (Melanie) who was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Director Victor Fleming also directed The Wizard of Oz the same year 1939.

Random fact but the actor George Reeves who plays Brent Tarleton in the opening scene, the man to the right of Scarlet would later play Superman just over a decade later. He played Superman in Superman & the Mole Men (1951) followed by The Adventures of Superman (1952 to 1958) and would later die of a gunshot wound in 1959. George Reeves has no relation to Christopher Reeve who of course played Superman in Superman (1978) and it's sequels, by far the most well known and beloved actor to play the character.
