They've yet to watch Ms. Marvel so I'm speaking from the pov as if I've yet to see any future MCU film or show as well. I know what's to come but I left those out for spoiler reasons.

2023-10-28 14:15:57 +0000 UTCLittle detail but Shriek is actually a Mutant in the comics, they even bring up that she got her powers from a Mutation in this film. These films are not set in the MCU though (officially set on Earth-688) so we've yet to see mention of Mutants in the mainline MCU but as of 2019 Marvel own the X-Men rights so it's a matter of time. Also yeah I really do love these Venom films but they very much seem to be walking backwards in relation to the comics events. For example in the comics Peter Parker gets the symbiote suit and later gets it removed by a church bell leading to Venom landing on Eddie, pretty much the scene from Spider-Man 3 (2007) which was a perfect re-creation of the comic event. Then Venom and Spider-Man fight for a while and then Venom and Eddie become the "Lethal Protector" moving to the West Coast away from New York and becoming an Anti Hero. But in the film Spider-Man has never been introduced, Eddie get's Venom first, they become the Lethal Protector and now there interested in Spider-Man. Pretty interesting spin on the timeframe of the character and took us Venom fans a while to get used to an origin with no Spider-Man, reason why Venom does not have the iconic white Spider-Man Logo on his chest.

2023-10-21 16:41:58 +0000 UTCVince is correct - Mrs. Chen was not in Shang Chi. The Venom movies do not take place in the MCU. They are completely separate. So seeing Spider-Man on TV is very strange and it blew everyone’s minds at the time.
