This movie was basically my favorite of this universe so far because it felt like classic Godzilla to fans who love all the classic films and Easter eggs like the oxygen destroyer & Godzilla’s classic theme playing when he got resurrected. Mothra, Rodan, & King Ghidorah are all iconic characters from the classic Japanese films. Ghidorah is basically always Godzilla’s Joker/nemesis. Mothra & Rodan are often friends/enemies to Godzilla depending on the timeline it’s set in. Mothra is always a good monster and second most popular monster in Japan next to Godzilla which is why they dubbed her and him king & queen. They been shipped too which is why we got that line of them having a thing. Lol

Also fun fact, when mothra leaves the waterfall the guy at that post is the same guy from Skull Island! Just older since skull island is set in the 70s. So imagine how much Kong has grown…👀 Who’s team are you guys on? Godzilla or Kong 😏 I’m personally a godzilla girly but i feel like you both might be on Kong’s side!

2023-09-10 13:03:29 +0000 UTCKong: Skull Island remains my favorite in the Monsterverse because it has the best-written human storyline and the best cast of actors. That goes a long way. Frankly, every scene in the next film with humans makes me want to throw myself into an active volcano. Unfortunately, as others have commented here, there has to be some human storyline to provide some context to the more casual movie fan. There are also some egregious story ideas presented in the next film that were difficult for me to overlook, and I consider myself easy to please when it comes to movies. But, at the end of the day, we watch these movies to enjoy the spectacle of monsters fighting each other. And the next film probably has the best fight scenes of any of these movies. There is a new Monsterverse streaming show coming to Apple TV (whatever it's called) starring Kurt Russell and his son, Wyatt (John Walker in the Falcon/Winter Soldier). I think a trailer for it just dropped in fact. I hope once you've finished the Monsterverse films, you will consider at least watching the original King Kong (1933) and the original Japanese version of Godzilla, Gojira (1954) (there's an American version that was released in 1956 that is inferior to the Japanese version). These two films are not only classic in that they introduced these two characters, but are also extremely well-made films on their own terms. The effects are obviously dated to a modern audience, but worth a viewing for anyone who cares about the history of these characters and cinema itself. And I recently watched your Planet of the Apes reactions. I do hope you will at least watch the original Planet of the Apes (1968) (there were four sequels, but only the first one is considered a bonafide classic). In my opinion, the two greatest science fiction films ever made were released in the same year: Planet of the Apes and 2001: A Space Odyssey. I hope you can check them out at some point.

2023-09-09 22:21:17 +0000 UTCI think the problem with the film is that we don't understand what the monsters say and so making a 2 hour film with just monsters fighting without us being able to understand why would be a big problem. So that's why there are humans who interfere to make us understand who is against who and why through dialogue. but it's true that the madness with the family there was a bit boring. ( It's just my opinion)

2023-09-09 17:16:06 +0000 UTCFull disclosure when I first watched this movie when it came out the whole mama drama plot didn't work for me and damn near almost ruined the movie for me, in fact the the whole human character elements in this movie was not great either, what saved it though was watching this in IMAX. Just viewing the sheer spectacle of this movie on such massive screen and booming surround sound was glorious, so in short I enjoyed the experience way more than I liked the overall movie. Glad you guys enjoyed it though.
