Sergio Leone directed it. Was one of many at the time called spaghetti westerns that were being made. A spaghetti western was a western made in a foreign country. Sergio Leone is a genius, he basically created a view of how westerns are viewed today. His most famous work includes, Fist Full of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, and Once Upon a Time in the West. This one is truly his masterpiece, it completely fills in on the check boxes that make a traditional western!

2023-09-10 18:38:45 +0000 UTCMajor props to Holly for requesting this one. I haven't watched the reaction yet, but if you guys like this film, I hope you'll consider watching the Dollars Trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and the Good, the Bad & the Ugly) as it'll be a great way to introduce yourselves to Clint Eastwood (and further Leone greatness, of course).

2023-09-07 21:36:11 +0000 UTCThat, and also I think that western movies like this one wouldn’t reach to a wider audience. These kind of movies kinda went out of style because they weren’t reaching to a wider audience anymore. One thing I learned is that movies have to please different audiences in order to succeed.

2023-09-07 17:48:37 +0000 UTCThank you so much for watching this. I've only gotten up to Jill's introduction, but I'm hoping you enjoyed the film. As Mark mentioned, it was a huge change for Henry Fonda to play a villain...and the three gunmen at the train station at the beginning were actors well known for playing toughs. To kill the three off in one moment like that was a big establishing moment.

2023-09-07 17:29:14 +0000 UTCClassic. One of the most influential films ever made. Tarantino is HEAVILY influenced by this film. BTW Henry Fonda (frank) was the main character in 12 angry men that convinced them to change their minds. This was a major change for him to play a villain at the time. No one has any patience anymore which is sadly why they don't make these films as much anymore.
