THE BATMAN

Comments

Can't wait for y'all to start the penguin

Aj rendon

Who?

JSM -Tac

part two is gonna be so big i can already feel it

def

damn it must REALLY bother you that people don't like your favorite batman? You have deep seated issues guy (and I didn't even trash the movie wow)

Mark W

Yup, Reeves and Mattson Tomlin are co-writing the sequel with Reeves directing and producing again and Dylan Clark producing as well...Michael Giacchino is returning to for the music/score and Greig Fraser is returning for the cinematography...Jacqueline Durran is returning for costume design, Robert Alonzo returning for stunt coordination, Daniel Arrias returning to fight train, David Higgins returning for physical and mental training, and a lot of other ppl returning for similar or other things

LeSteeler

Weak opinions are a thing

LeSteeler

Zoe is cool af man...some delusional ppl made it seem as if she done something wrong...glad she finally got the respect she deserves with this

Bo1and

Not all rich ppl have dirt lol, but I get your point too

LeSteeler

Huh? Maybe watch more films, not everything is a popcorn flick

LeSteeler

its just my opinion.

Mark W

And Gordon was great

LeSteeler

I think Rob's Bruce did travel

LeSteeler

What would u want in the sequel?

LeSteeler

Why not, it's a good thing it was original

LeSteeler

It's easily the best Gotham and best live action Batman

LeSteeler

Doesn't matter if u don't like it, respect it...there's a reason it was successful

LeSteeler

?

LeSteeler

Joker was trash

Erik Becerra

It was year 2 batman so he didn't know how to be bruce Wayne yet. At the end he realizes he needs to be more. In the next movie he will be more the bruce wayne we see in other movies.

Kevin Matthew

Orrrrr people are entitled to their opinions even if they are fans of the original material. Not everyone prefers things the original way, not everyone likes how it was acted or shot and everyone is entitled to their own viewpoint.

Lina Distadio

That’s the whole point of Batman tho idiot. Gotham isn’t a fun place, it’s a messed up place with so many serial killers and crazy ass mfs. It’s how is is in the comics and everything else. Tho only time there’s funny shit involved if it’s with joker or the robins and they’re not in this

Simon

I didn't like the interpretation of Batman or Gotham. I only like Falcone because Turturro is an amazing actor. But I just didn't enjoy the movie. I've watched it 3 times and I like it less each time.

Thomas Massie

Being the world's greatest detective doesn't mean it has to be a snore-fest. Too long, takes itself too seriously. Have a little fun, for fuck's sake. The Arkham games remain the best representation of Batman outside the comics.

Mitchell Smilie

Is it the style of it being an action/noir instead of a regular action/adventure? Bc superhero media needed this film imo

Bo1and

They said they liked the movie lol

Bo1and

Excuses for what? It's a widely loved film, u don't know shit

Bo1and

Many ppl view this a top 5 cbm, some have it over TDK...this is it's own Batverse which so far has been working...not everything in film has to be connected to everything

Bo1and

Bro he was supposed to act like that as Bruce lol, he nailed it, the character is goin to develop...they didn't want to just start him off as a playboy

Bo1and

I think Pattinson was a good batman, but he didn't get Bruce Wayne right at all. Kind of bizarre because he looks like a preppy rich kid. I almost feel like he tried harder to nail batman and didn't get BW. And since he's so opposite in his look and normal demeanor, it made everything weird. I like him though and i'm glad he gets more respect than just "twilight guy"

Justin M Borowski

I thought it was fine. If there hadn't been the Nolan trilogy, it would be considered a masterpiece by everyone. Classic Paul Dano of course. Before TDKR, I always said Riddler could be done this way in that world. But it's like, ok Batfleck was great. Probably the best part of the Snyderverse. And now here we go again, rebooted once more and connected to nothing and never will be. Right after Joker which was a vastly superior film. It also had no business being 3 hours long. Shouldn't have to marathon a movie.

Fawks

Or maybe they just don't like it lol

Story's 2tell

no its cause its trash..stop with the excuses

Anthony Garcia

All you saying you didnt like it are simple showing that you arent batman fans because in the comics and in the animated series/movies he is the worlds greatest detective before anything else, only the comics and the animated series/movies have gotten his character right until now, this is the fire life action depiction of batman truly

Hate Us Cuz They Aint Us

Matt Reeves got the Batman gig after his outstanding work with Dawn & War of the Planet of The Apes. Also did Cloverfield together with JJ Abrams. Dude got top tier talent. They are working on The Batman part II as we speak. Andy Serkis is Gollum/Smeagol in LOTR, Caesar in Planet of the Apes, Snoke in Star Wars and as you said Klaue in the MCU.

Rippan

They are doing the true viewer experience like we had to, wait a year for End Game ;)

Rippan

eh, didn't care for this batman but i'm glad you two enjoyed it!

Mark W

yes Snyder's version of the Justice League series

Rudolph Koch

its already on theyre Patreon

Robinronaldo7

BRUH

dikuzon

Yeah that part always confuses a lot of people

Joseph

I liked it honestly them doing something different with Bruce's parents besides them being soo good before they died like it makes sense no millionare is gonna be that rich by jsut being good alone. And Catwoman in this was good we haven't had a good live action catwoman since Michelle Phifer imo and its more political comapred to Dark Knight

Narutoanime16

Start Zack Snyder’s trilogy starring with man of steel

Tommy

Are we getting Ant-Man 2 today?

Fawks

Just so you guys know by the way the riddler doesn’t know Batman is Bruce Wayne! He was just upset he didn’t kill Bruce that’s why he kept saying his name

Simon

They always watch one MCU movie every single week. Infinity War was just posted a week ago. You want 5 MCU movies a week? That sounds boring.

Joseph

Dude chill tf out. They’re aloud to watch other shit. They’re a reaction channel not a mcu channel.

Simon

Respect to those who do like it. It just wasn't for me.

Thomas Massie

I really love the honesty. I really didn't like this movie

Thomas Massie

That's something I've notice about all the live action Batman films. They all get elements of Batman right but there's not a single "Live Action" Batman who nailed everything 100%. Some nail Bruce Wayne but fall short on other elements while some nail Batman as an emotional character with a good heart, nail his combat, Him as a detective, or showcasing his high IQ. You see elements when you watch different actors as Batman but not all at once in the same movie or trilogy. So far Robert is my personal favourite and there's so much room for him to grow in the sequel.

Isaac

Acting is the last thing i would criticize in this movie

Burak Yağız

My personal opinion is they got Batman right for the first time with this film. Batman, above all else, is the world’s greatest detective, and that’s what they highlighted here.

MotoDork

C'mon now. They give us so much to watch! Let's be patient. They will continue with the MCU shortly, im sure : )

Petteri Ahlberg

So you just gave up on marvel huh?

Fred Fonseca

Been waiting for this one for a long time! I first saw this in theaters with friends, and it was INCREDIBLE, Robert Pattinson was outstanding as Batman, the entire cast and crew absolutely killed it!

Fernando Olivo

robert pattinson is an amazing batman for me

Maximiliano Vagnoni

Some of the main things this movie gets praised for is the stellar cast, acting, and how badass and good Pattinson was as Batman...Wright as Gordon too...wow...also Joker and Riddler are completely different characters, Riddler is more of a weirdo and acts more out of control, u shouldn't get similar vibes with those scenes...this movie just like The Dark Knight trilogy also gives such a different vibe than most other superhero movies like some ones in the MCU that feel pretty generic, it feels like a real breath of fresh air for blockbuster cinema...Joker (2019) gives similar vibes, another recommendation

LeSteeler

Matt Reeves is such a great director! He did the last two Planet of the Apes movies, Cloverfield. So underrated! Btw you guys should try that Planet of the Apes trilogy. It's epic!

JESSEMLR1

Batman does have different love interest , he has a ras Al guls daughter who he loves but she’s evil and they have a kid together named Damian which is cannon in a lot of comics , Batman almost always ends with catwoman but sometimes with Wonder Woman too

Simon

Alfred(Andy serkis) his real name, has played clause in mcu snoke in Star Wars , and cesar in planet of the apes

Simon

I’ve seen your guys dark knight reaction so many times😂 to all 3 movies ! Glad you enjoyed those and can’t wait to see how you like this! To answer your question this is a complete reboot. This is Bruce’s 2nd year being Batman in this movie

Simon

This movie was meh for me. Interested to see what your opinions are.

Mitchell Smilie

The Bat has finally arrived 😤🦇

Kalen Chatman

Yes Shoshana is right again. Also the penguin is Colin Farrell. I didn't realize at first with how different he looks in this.

David

Reboot: Correct this is a reboot of Batman set within it's own continuity with no connection to the DCEU (Ben Affleck's Batman Universe) or the Dark Knight Trilogy. But originally The Batman was meant to be a prequal to the DCEU starring Ben Affleck as a younger version of the Batman we see in the DCEU set around the 1990s with Dick Grayson's Robin. Overtime the film turned into it's own thing so they decided to disconnect the film from the DCEU and Ben Affleck was replaced was Robert Pattinson. Based on Earth-One: This film drew heavily from the Batman Earth-One issues a young alternate universe set on Earth-1 featuring young variants of DC hero's who were just starting out. For reference the main DC universe is Earth Prime also known as Earth-0. Martha Wayne being an Arkham instead of a Kane is pulled right from Batman Earth-One along with her history of mental illness. In almost all renditions Martha is a Kane just like Bruce's cousin Kate Kane who is Batwoman. Alfred also trained Bruce in both Earth-One and this film with the Earth-One Alfred being a Royal Marine, Alfred in general is based visually on the Alfred from the Earth-One comics. Since Frank Millers Year One comic from 1987 Bruce has spent his early years exploring the world and training and then coming back to Gotham something Earth-One and Roberts Batman does not do. Bruce going off to train is an element featured in most renditions of the character and something you both saw in Batman Begins. Other Comic Inspiration: There's also elements from Long Halloween such as being set on Halloween in Batman's second year as Batman, and Year One with the whole Catwoman element and focus on the crime families, Catwoman's outfit while she's fighting Falcone is pulled right out of Year One. All of these are from the mainline DC universe so The Batman is like a hybrid of mostly Earth-One with elements from the comics I've mention and of course they're own original story. Gotham City: From a visual standpoint I loved Gotham, looked amazing and fits with the lore of Gotham City. The mix of Gothic Revival and Art Deco looks amazing and really gives the city it's own personality. Loved the timeless art direction the city had at times with the retro 1980s Taxis for example something I would've liked to see more of for example older police cars or even a mix of old meets new fashion. This was something The Nolan Batman films lacked the look and feel of Gotham. Besides Batman Begins Nolan wanted to have Gotham feel like it could be any city but all it did was strip Gotham from all it's personality turning it into basically Chicago. The Batman was what I wanted in Nolan's Gotham City but Tim Burton is still the king though when it comes to Gotham, Batman 89 and Batman Returns has my favourite renditions of the city in live action. Music: The music Is also very Shirley Walker who composed the amazing music for the Batman Animated Series. The composer Michael Giacchino who did The music for The Batman was inspired by her music something I wish we heard more of. There's also a track that plays at the funeral outside when Bruce gets out of her car that sounds very animated series more hopeful sounding. James Gunn DC Universe and where The Batman fits into this: You've no doubt heard about James Gunns new DC universe well don't worry he has stated that anything outside of his universe will continue as "Elseworlds" projects. Elseworlds was the branding of comics that were set outside of the main DC continuity so stuff like Joker and The Batman are Elseward stories. James Gunn's DCU will be similar to the MCU with everything being connected this featuring its own Batman who'll be closer to the mainline comics. Gunn will embrace the fantasy elements of DC dive into Metahumans, Supernatural elements and a more stylized world where Gotham could look visual more unique with blimps, retro timeless look with old cars and gangs with tommy guns etc. This Bruce Wayne will also be years into his journey as Batman set in a world where hero's have already been active for years so we'll see a Batman in his prime around his 30s with members of the Bat Family such as Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl etc. And no doubt the Justice League would also be formed by this point as well. Robert Batman will continue in his own universe set outside of the DCU continuity where its a more grounded take on Batman and his Rogue gallery of villains exploring his early years. Hopefully not Nolan levels of grounded but don't expect to see people with powers in this series or hero's like Superman showing up. But hey who knows maybe down the line they'll introduce villains with abilities but I don't think they'll go as heavily and stylized as the DCU Batman. Ending thoughts: Overall I'm glad you enjoyed this film and I agree with many of you're points such as Gordon being a little underwhelming and useless in the film but I loved all the casting choices, Catwoman is pulled right from the pages of Year One and Colin Farrell as The Penguin stole the show so it's no surprise that Colin is getting his own HBO Max Penguin show. Other DC Media: Also excited to see future reactions to DC, Mask of the Phantasm is another amazing Batman film and my personal favourite. There's also an animated version of Batman Year One as well and there's just a bunch of really good animated DC stuff out there from Flashpoint to Justice League: Doom, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, and Under the Red Hood to name a few.

Isaac

Oh btw. Guy who directed this movie did all the planet of the apes movies. PS: it is Zoey Kravitz. Lenny's daughter.

Mark

robert pattinson is a good actor if he gets a good role. and w andy serkis again as alfred bro is the best. bro plays gollum, caesar from planet of the apes and so many more. and the person who directed it is matt reeves the same person who did "dawn of planet of apes and war for planet of the apes "

Rob Yung

Actor that plays Gordon is beatty and muddy waters from Cadillac all the same actor. (He was much younger in cadillac)

Mark

I'm glad there making a sequel to this and there making a show about Penguin about what happens to him after this movie. I thought Rob did a good job and Ben Affleck isn't a bad bBatman either

Narutoanime16

Don't be weird fr, i love yall reactions. i see a reaction pop up i get my snacks and get in to it. W reaction

Anthony Frye

Pattinson proved to be a great actor in his other films outside of Twilight, most being indie films...And this is in its own separate universe...there is a Penguin show coming out next year and The Batman Part II comes out in 2025

LeSteeler

Yesss!! Watching this tonight for sure !!

Simon

The Batman music in the movie sounds similar to a Star wars theme because both were inspired by the classic Funeral March theme, and the composer for this movie (Michael Giacchino) also worked on some recent Star Wars movies.

LeSteeler

Haven't watched this movie yet but might as well watch it with you guys 😂 *new patreon member*
