James Rhodes comic origin is pretty close to his MCU counterpart, Iron Man as a whole is also very true to his comic counterpart as well just set in the 1960s Cold War instead of the late 2000s. Justin Hammer is also a character from the comics. A competitor of Stark International, Justin began his company Hammer Industries, which became one of the leading weapons suppliers in the world after Stark International moved out of weapons production similar to what we see in this film. He plays a massive part in the comic "Armor Wars" which is getting a movie sometime in Phase 5 (most likely 2023 or early 2024) so a long way to go still for you lads. Will not dive into the comic as that could be possible spoilers for the film but for the MCU I could see the Armor War movie heavily connecting to what you see in this film among other things. Also did you notice a certain Red, White, and Blue shield. Such a fun nod to a future film from 2011 so already you'll notice alot of building up to future projects. Iron Man released in 2010 followed by Thor in 2011 and finally Captain America: The First Avenger near the end of 2011. And finally The Avengers in 2012 this being the end of Phase 1. So alot of building up to that last film cannot wait to see the other reactions.
