The way i see it is like this, floch knows that everyone outside of the island is an enemy, the dude has also definitely got some issues because remember he was the only survivor of Erwins suicide charge. Having the new recruits beat Shadis up is like initiation and a way to prove that you are for the cause and loyal, i mean look what the military was trying to do. They were once again keeping secrets from the public (the entire point of the coup was to not do this anymore) they were planning behind closed doors on who to make a titan and have them eat eren because they wanted someone they could control, they were doing absolutely nothing in regards to actually preparing for the war that was coming, they all knew that at the least marley would attack them at some point and its pretty clear they made no real plans against it. A revolution is never bloodless and thats what this is, a revolution. Two different ideals competing for power of the island. I dont like floch but i dont dislike him either, dude is doing what he feels needs to be done to survive whats coming.

because i have read the manga and watched the anime many times and i pay attention to small details. Its logical that after marley stopped coming to the island with new titans that they would stop training considering they had learned the outside world is the main threat. The volunteers being on the island to help them advance their island also allows them to focus on other things then just titans. Its only now when titans are a very real danger again that they would feel the need to train some new soldiers as quickly as possible. There is also the threat that if the partial rumbling were to occur then titans may roam aroun the island again and cause mayhem so being ready to kill them is important to not cause devastation in order parts of the walls

Ik people say that there are no bad guys in this show but there is still always a protagonist and antagonist I jus love this show because they can portray eren as a villain so well with Floch and em that’s why I really appreciate this show

I think youre mixing up understanding and condoning. I understand poverty and understand why someone would feel the need to rob me. That doesnt make it okay. Remember that if we were in this world, everyone commenting would NOT be an eldian. So I never really got why people cape for the yeagerists this hard. I UNDERSTAND why they are doing what they are doing, it doesnt make it okay or the most optimal decision. Its just the easiest option for them to go full aggro, it doesnt make it right.

In regards to the Floch comments guys. Dont listen to em. Make your own opinions on this one (like you have been doing) because this is when the fandom splintered off into different groups. Some people like Floch because of how hes written and how fun he is and separate the morals. Others like him unironically and match his morals. I recommend just trusting your gut and enjoying the ride. "Team eren" "Team bla bla" discourse will just end up ruining the experience for you so I would take all those comments with a grain of salt.

Also the only reason Keith Shadis was training new soldiers was because the militry just foudn out about the wine and if zeke screams while everyone is around then 100s of soldiers will become titans. If Keith can train them even for a couple of hours or days it might give Paradis a slight chance of surviving the potenital battle. Im sure Keith was retired before this but was asked by someone to train soldiers if worst case scenario came up
