It never reveals who the copy is and who the OG is and they probably didn't know themselves. In the scene where he shot the "copy", the copy said "wait I'm the..." Also, Cutter mentioned the "drowing is agonizing" thing because he knew he was essentially drowning someone every trick which was brutal. Such a good movie
