Strap yourselves in. I've got a story to tell. On a lighter note first, years ago I was a cook at McDonalds. Whenever we were getting overwhelmed in the kitchen with orders, I'd yell out "Broken Arrow!". It became a sort of inside joke with all of us. The death of Jimmy Nakayama, the one who died from the napalm strike, greatly affected Joe Galloway. In an interview, he stated "That boy is my nightmare." A nightmare he carried for the rest of his life. There are some behind the scenes events that happened with Jimmy and his family I'd like to share. Like everyone else, his wife never knew what happened to her husband. Only that he was killed. No further details on where or how was given. She learned to move on as best she could with her daughter. Many years later, I believe on a whim, her and her daughter went with a friend to go see a new movie that had just come out, "We Were Soldiers". They had no idea. No idea what they where about to watch. To see. It broke both of them. As time passed and they could process it better, it gave them both closure. Now she knew, and she was comforted that the whole world now knows of his sacrifice. While I couldn't imagine watching such a graphic portrayal of the death of a loved one, I'm glad that now both his wife Trudie and his daughter Nikki are at peace. Now for my personal connection and why I will remember Jimmy Nakayama. Jimmy was a Latter-Day Saint. A Mormon, as am I. I've seen his name on a memorial plaque at BYU-Idaho. He was a student there when it was called Rick's College. I've gone much of my life believing that because I try to be a "good" person, I'll be protected from the true horrors of this world. Jimmy wasn't protected, and wasn't he far more deserving than I? A theme from this movie is that we all will experience hardship and suffering brought on by difficult times. No one is special or excluded from this. Jimmy wasn't, and neither am I. What I hope instead is to have the confidence that whatever challenge or dark moments I have, I will be able to meet them head on. Bravely. I appreciate your reaction to this powerful movie, and am grateful to share a little more of Jimmy's story. Here is a link with some more info and pictures if you wish to know a little more. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/13661435/jimmy-d-nakayama

Colonel Moore actually wrote the book this movie is based off. Goes a lot more into the strategy and battle tactics. A good read if your interested in the military tactics he used to survive this battle

There’s a animated movie called the bad guys if you haven’t seen it would you react to it.

kevin (btw i'm a girl)

I love how after the declaration of war there is a cut and then you guys say "We're gonna get roasted in the comments, I can already see" Now we'll never know what you almost got roasted for. Lol, also Not only was the M-16 brand new for Vietnam Vets, most Vietnam Vets agree that the M-16 got a lot of good men killed. It was claimed to be cheaply made and would jam or altogether break.

It's not basic training in the traditional sense. They are probably doing a pre-deployment training session at their home duty station. They were all officers, so they usually attend officer training school, then whatever job training is necessary, and then get to their home duty station and whatever pre-deployment training.
