2024-10-30 04:00:35 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite details about the production of this film was that Viggo Mortensen really did have to deflect the dagger thrown at him toward the end of the movie. The original plan for the scene was to have Lawrence Makoare (who played Lurtz, the captain of the Uruk-hai who shoots Boromir) pretend to throw the dagger but hold onto it on the follow-through, then add a flying "dagger" with CGI in post. However, Lawrence (like all the Uruks) was wearing glove-like prosthetics to make his hands look bigger than they really were. The gloves themselves were made of a somewhat slick material and Lawrence didn't realize how wet with fake blood they had become. When he threw the dagger, it accidentally slipped out of his grasp for real and flew at Viggo. Had his reflexes not been excellent, Viggo might have been seriously harmed. These sorts of accident cuts almost always made their way into the final films because Peter Jackson disliked letting real danger or injuries be for nothing.

All the details in the Extended Editions make you feel alllll you need to feel, it immerses you deeply into it. Thank you guys for this amazing reaction, definitely one of my favorite reactions to this. Excited for the other two!!! Much love. Btw Samwise Gamgee is my favorite character.

2022-12-06 18:59:48 +0000 UTCokay, you asked a lot about where this was filmed. it was filmed entirely in new zealand, and all three films were filmed back to back. so all the actors flew and lived together in new zealand for a few months while they filmed all 3 movies all together in one go. Sean Bean (Ned Stark/Boromir) hated helicopters, so he would literally trek up mountains and everywhere else for hours in his full costume to film lol
