2022-10-22 18:00:14 +0000 UTCThank you for this reaction. I know how hard this must have been to watch. I served 8 years in the Marines and multiple deployments to Okinawa and Iraq. I've visited the battle memorials and even some of the bunkers the Japanese fought from. One of the most horrible things I learned was how brainwashed the Okinawan people where. The Japanese told them the Americans would slaughter every one of them if they didn't fight. They told them how blood thirsty we were and other lies I will not repeat. There is a cliff on the southern part of the island that ended up being the Japanese's last line of defense. The Japanese and many civilians jumped to their deaths rather than surrender. It was dubbed 'suicide cliff'. A witness said they saw hundreds of bodies on the bottom of the cliff. 100,000 - 150,000 Okinawan civilians died during that horrible battle. It amazes me what a human being can do to another...

2022-10-22 02:17:15 +0000 UTCThe scene with the lady and baby with the bomb... then the body shields, then being shelled by their own artillery, it shows you the absolute hell they went through and how ruthless and cruel their enemy was. Sledge did gain back his humanity but was forever scarred... Thank you for the reaction, very very much appreciated. <3
