That episode is so oppressive, with the relentless rain, mud, darkness; it took a toll on the men mentally and physically. I once read something about jungle warfare by a German officer who said that an army will not last more than 60 days in the jungle, even with no enemy to fight. The jungle will start to kill them. Next episode will pick up the pace. Eugene’s arc begins.
