Loved the reaction you guys should check marcus luttrells operation red wings speech on youtube its lengthy but really gives perspective on what happened from his point of view.. such a deep speech please consider it! love the videos!

2022-08-11 13:29:15 +0000 UTCI never deployed to Afghanistan. I can only tell you about Iraq. The people are still the same. Both have a group of armed terrorists terrorizing the local population. The people HATE them, but aren't strong enough to fight back. I'm not going to get into the politics and religion, but long story short the people for the most part where good people. Just trying to live their best life possible. They could care less about wars and politics. I fought in Fallujah in 2004 and thought I seen some shit until I saw this movie. You guys where right. They aren't made the same. Thank you guys for your great content!

2022-08-11 08:22:28 +0000 UTCAlso, it's important to remember that whenever a unit goes into enemy territory, the people you are up against are most likely going to know the territory better than you, so you are almost always at a disadvantage. So not only were they in mountainous terrain, but in terrain, their enemy knows like the back of their hands.

2022-08-11 05:00:05 +0000 UTCAfghanistan is largely two different terrain types, the flat, lowlands where all the farming takes place, and the mountainous half that was true hell for our troops there. Both areas had their own advantages and disadvantages of course but we often put small, foward-operating bases at the bottom of those small valleys in the mountains, surrounded by taliban strongholds higher up that just looked at our troops. Check out Restrepo for an example.
