[YT Edit] The Fly (1986)

Hey guys! Here is the YT edit for "The Fly" which will premiere this evening!

[YT Edit] The Fly (1986)

Comments

A Cronenberg film I highly recommend is "A History of Violence" (2005). In 2005, a female employee of my firm's client (GE) visited from India. I was given task of taking her to dinner. I picked her up that evening at her hotel close to my firm's office. In my car, she asked if we could go see a movie instead of going to dinner. We went to nearby theater. She chose "A History of Violence." We got situated in our seats. Early in movie is a raw scene between Viggo Mortensen character and his character's wife (the beautiful Maria Bello). I was embarrassed. At end of movie, she went on and on how much she loved movie and was thankful I took her.

Clay F

That's a new facial expression. Lol

Chris Thom

The Gone in 60 Seconds had a moth attack too. lol

Chris Thom

And everyone who said she was able "make it" through "watching" this must have somehow missed all the times she closed her eyes and turned away from the screen

mikethemotormouth

Pause at 24:06 LOL!!!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

73k views in 4 days on YT. Not bad.

🏁 🎥 🎸 💔

Had no idea it was successful. Thought it became a cult thing after release.

Chris Thom

I was a kid when this came out and I remember how huge it was. It's bizarre to me that a movie like "The Fly," as good as it is, was a box office smash. The sequel, starring Eric Stoltz, is much gorier, but much dumber

Dave Sees Movies

Ugh this movie was crazy…I remember being very concerned about my first patch of back hair based on this 😂

Mark Daniels

It's a must-watch, Carol. One of the greatest horror movies ever, and one of Cassie's best reactions. She earned all her subs with this one!

Clarence Newman

I’m gonna try the YT edit. Bc [obviously] don’t have this in my movie collection 😂❤️

Carol Rocha

Great movie. Anne Parillaud is gorgeous and a great lead. But it’s almost completely unknown. Sadly, I don’t see it ever getting a reaction from Cassie. But I really hope I’m wrong about that.

Just Plain Bob

Going through movies for Halloween, I rediscovered a real gem. Innocent Blood (1992). It's a movie that should hit a poll.

Powers209

I watched this once as a teenager, very disturbing and gross. Not a movie I have ever revisited in its entirety. Whilst a well made and directed movie with great FX for the day, once was certainly enough. Well done Cassie for braving this one.

Kevin O'Donnell

PS to above: I miss the general chat/FAQ thread, where comments such as mine really belong.

Just Plain Bob

Off topic, I just heard that NHL season is about to start. I’m not particularly a fan (I watch college and NFL football for most of the NHL season). But I am a fan of the greatest hockey movie ever made, “Slap Shot”, starring Paul Newman. Hopefully, it can find its way onto Cassie’s November reaction schedule. I think she’d love it.

Just Plain Bob

Do you really want to defend that guy and that line?😂

Cole Jennett

17:44 "Excuse me?! The worst line I've ever heard!".....And Cassie has seen Attack of the Clones!!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Nine Months 30th Anniversary is this year Cassie. Maybe your PPOTM for November? A Tender Rom Com is gonna be really nice for you after 5 weeks of Horror.

Katie Jackson

We mostly jest, Ethan, but I do have reason to be grateful for the body horror in this film. I first watched The Fly at the cinema way back, with a lovely young lady who is now my wife. Thanks to the Brundlefly makeup, she clung to me from start to finish. Silver linings, my friend.

Clarence Newman

That sounds super familiar. Is that from a movie or a song?

Chris Thom

"Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief." (STFU, Donny!)

Happy Hanukkah

Shout out to all the people making sure we all know how little they're bothered by the body horror. We're very impressed.

Ethan Tarr

A Sully triple feature would be brutal. Been to Hawaii exactly once (in late February) and got so fried it was actually embarrassing. Strangers on the beach said they were worried and maybe I should go under a tree. Lol

Chris Thom

The body horror doesn't really bother me. I've just subjected my milk bottle English body to two weeks in the blazing Cancun sun, so I could probably play Brundlefly sans make-up right now. Not to mention the mosquito gangs whispering in my ear in the middle of the night: "We'll hurt you if you stay." Looking forward to watching a double bill of "Flight" with Denzel and "Flight 90: Disaster on the Potomac" on the plane ride home.

Clarence Newman

Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. Have some patience.

Mike Lemon

Cassie, will Scream 2 drop soon?

Joe J

Gaaaa-ross! I accidentally watched some of this as a kid and was scarred. Just mentioning this movie gives me chills and a yuck feeling. You were tricked instead of treat!

VirtuallyVeronicka

Ok so I fell asleep watching this, it wasn't you. I had you in my ear pods your screams kept jerking me awake. I don't argue with the body, it's argument you just can't win.

Zachary K.

I thought I was ok with gore in movies, but this really made me want to throw up. Wasn't expecting the practical effects to be that good. Terrifier series too.

Chris Thom

This is not really a scary movie in the way that It was. But I tend to underestimate the effect of the gore and body horror of this movie on people since those things don’t really bother me much. I was eating Doritos while watching the full reaction, didn’t even feel a little queasy. Probably doesn’t bother me because I grew up on a farm in a family of hunters, so I saw a lot of gore and viscera from the time I was a small child, and became mostly immune to it.

Richard Maurer

Fair enough. At least you didn’t feel the need to denigrate horror fans, which happens all too often here. I’m fine with people not liking horror movies as long as they don’t put me down for liking them.

Richard Maurer

Sounds like a hit new reaction channel on the horizon! You could start with The Kissing Booth on Netflix.

Chris Thom

Good thumbnail.

Clay F

It was pretty good but for me, nothing beats the What Lies Beneath thumbnail.

🏁 🎥 🎸 💔

Next up: Videodrome and Scanners

Tyler Hale

So this is Cassie's introduction to David Cronenberg. 😬

Steven Perez

This is the greatest thumbnail ever

warcrimes

This movie is really gross. We do not have it on our collection. Once was enough! :D

Kristin D

Cassie’s reaction mirrored the way I feel when watching a standard rom-com.

Just Plain Bob

Another reason why I don't watch horror movies. I know some people love them, but not for me.

William Brownlee

"Is it live or is it Memorex?" I remember those Memorex commercials. insect politician

Clay F

This went about as I expected. I must have first seen this on cable back in the 80's. The image of him eating as Brundle-Fly is burned into my brain. The original is more suspenseful than gross.

Stephen Dias

Hi Ronnie. On the PIB YouTube page please click on "Videos" and then "Oldest" to see the videos sorted starting from oldest to newest. https://www.youtube.com/@PopcornInBed/videos This sorting reveals "The Shawshank Redemption" as the first video. And then "1917", "Stand By Me", "Groundhog Day", "The Green Mile" etc. Though in the early days of PIB there were some Patreon only videos that did not get a premiere on YouTube. These include "Freaky Friday", "Starman", "The Red Violin", "Same Time Next Year", "The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing" and several others.

Steve Holton

So, I'm waiting to watch the Fly on yt and saw that Cassie is up to 484,000 subscribers. Awesome btw. Just think if you're a newcomers to Cassie and all the fun it is to share a Movie with her. I think I watched 99%, so far. What were the first 5 or 10 movies? Does anyone know. I know it's 4 years now.

Ronnie

"it's just a movie. It's just a movie. It's just a movie" Repeat that phrase as necessary to calm your stomach. 😀

Jeff Gutshall

Your reaction did not disappoint, Cassie!!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

The Fly YT premier is 7 pm Idaho time. There is already 75 people waiting.

Clay F

Whew!, got started this Halloween in the deep end of the pool.

Michael Labs

And I wonder if Cassie knows that Jeff Goldblum can really play the piano. Hell, he has his own jazz band orchestra. And he's released a few albums as well.

Jacob Colson

It’s amazing what they could do back in the day with some latex rubber, paint and goop. Someday you should check out the 1950’s original. Not for the channel, just for your own enjoyment.

Stephen Malloy

Bring your popcorn and and your barf bag. 😂😂😂

Doc Larry/old geezer

I watched a bit of the watch-along reaction, even though I can't watch the film at the same time while I'm here in Mexico. It was plenty enough to know that I'm really looking forward to the full experience. The best bit I saw was Cassie flexing her arms and puffing out her cheeks like she was enduring a particularly violent pedicure. A reminder of how much she puts herself through to entertain us. Respect.

Clarence Newman

There is a brief interview with Jeff Goldblum on BBC's Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, they start talking about The Fly (1986) at 2:54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqkyU2qu1oU

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

"Help me. Please... help me. "

Philip Alan

Cinema Rules ended?? That was the first reaction channel I ever saw. And first I subscribed to.

Chris Thom

Love the Blume

Rosario Cicero

The now-defunct YouTube channel, Cinema Rules, also did a good reaction to The Fly (1986).

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

So many varieties of 'wth am I watching' emotional states on one thumbnail. Lol

Chris Thom

Cassie, is that thumbnail from your first week with Rocky Balboa, lol.

Joe J

Cassie's montage above really makes me excited to watch her reaction!

Collar City Guy

Every one of those facial expressions is accurate. But I love this movie. 🪰🪰🪰
