Well well well 2001 Tim Burton Planet of the Apes we finally meet. I don’t think it was as bad as people say at all, it had aspects of goodness, the makeup was crazy, it had fun nods to the original, and I thought Mark Wahlberg did well. It was just missing something I couldn’t put my finger on... the heart of the other movies I think? It felt smaller. Almost like sets? The ending though🫠😵💫

I have always preferred this version to the later series. A lot of the fun is identifying the actors underneath the make-up to include the original “Taylor” Charlton Heston and Tim Roth, Michael Duncan and Kris Kristofferson

I might be a few days late on this, but I just enjoyed your reaction to Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes (2001), Cassie. Yay—you made it to the end of your Planet of the Apes journey… at least for now, until the next reboot sequel to Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes drops—probably in 2027.
I know the 2001 remake gets a lot of hate, but honestly, I still enjoyed it. Mark Wahlberg wasn't bad in the role (I enjoy a bunch of the movies that's he in), and I've always been curious about that wild twist ending—like, I really wish they had made a sequel to explain what the heck happened with that alternate Earth where apes founded the United States of America. when he came back. Total mind trip. Lol.
Still, nothing beats the reboot movies with Caesar—and now Noa continuing that legacy. That series just hits differently.
"Apes together strong." 😊

My answer to every question Cassie asked was “who knows, it’s a stupid movie”.

Sees the ending, now you know why they didn't make another one.
