Jim Caviezel had a few really good films in the earlier 2000's starting with this one, this has always been a favorite of mine along w/ the Count of Monte Cristo.. but watching this with you today made me way more emotional as i was watching I realized I lost my mom 9 years ago today.

That's why I enjoy rewatching movies: you never know what you might pick up that you missed before. It also hits differently now since much has changed since the last time.

I know because seeing this movie now hits different since I lost my dad in 2022, rather unexpectedly too. So this movie now gets me right in the feels. Got a little choked up watching it this time. Thank you two for taking me for a trip down memory lane. It was priceless your reaction when you both realized at the same time he was talking to his dad in the past... you gave the Bill & Ted reaction.. "NO WAY!" Classic.

I wish I could go back to July 11, 1989, and save my younger brother. I know when you alter one event in history, you create a butterfly effect. But that would be a chance I would take, even if, by doing so, it might create my own demise.

They fixed their family but destroyed another. The original time line had the killer killing 3 women. Then after the mom saved the killer it was 10 women. They saved number 4, but failed to save number 5. After that they caught him. So they saved the dad but Sissy Clark died in the new timeline. Whoops.

After about 50 minutes I was getting a little bored and didn't know where they would go with it, but boy did they turn the volume up with the suspense. In fact it was a little too stressful for my liking. I don't think I've ever shouted at the screen more than I did during this movie. I'm glad it had a happy ending, but my pulse is still racing. It's after 3am here in the UK and there's no way I can go to bed now as I had planned. Going to have to watch something lighthearted first. I'm thinking The Parent Trap. Can't go wrong with that classic 90s flick.

Guy talking to his late father on the radio and changing history. Cassie (and maybe Carly) will love that!" Then, as I'm watching it, "Oh, yeah. Serial killer." Luckily, it wasn't too too graphic. They also foreshadowed that rifle early in movie; I don't think I ever caught that before.

But now that it's iconic to me I'm like 'ahhh I sat right in that seat where Lucy Lu was' or whoever. I'm curious if they still use that set for a different med show now. The raised subway outside looks super fake though. lol

Really felt dumb for missing out all those years. One of the best shows ever. Surreal to revisit that first episode too.

I started watching it when it originally premiered in 1994. I wasn’t even 10 years old yet. The pacing, the long shots, fast talking, and intensity hooked me at such a young age. I watched it weekly for all 15 seasons. I grew up with that show.

Adrien Brody is awesome (as you noted, WON Best Actor Oscar). "The Pianist" (2002) also won Oscars for Best Director and Best Screenplay. Best Picture nominee, Best Cinematography nominee. Based on true story. Everyone should watch that movie imo. I would welcome a reaction by Cassie. As a citizen of the world, everyone should watch The Pianist. Tough but not as tough as Schindler's List.

I admit the eye flickers too much at first in a disconcerting way but you can see what they were trying to portray in hindsight. Incredible reaction and one I'll gladly come back to many times in the future. So grateful to everyone who made this happen.

There was a few shots of gruesome violence but without the bloody gore you both hate. The only complaint I ever had with this movie was the terrible age makeup, but I was always willing to overlook that because the story was so good. For future reference, the actor's name is pronounced Jim Kah-VEE-zul.

Then it turns out that Tim Ballard was basically a huge liar and an abuser and Jim stood right by him and doubled down. Just really icky in general. Dennis Quaid it's kinda the same thing. Super conspiracy theory minded, anti-vaxx and then started dating a woman the same age as his son Jack and then he started taking credit for Jack's success even though it was Jack's mom Meg Ryan who got him acting and helped him with his sketch comedy group.

A lot of kids who lost their fathers that were good men would give anything to have more time with them, even if it's just to talk. And vice versa. 😊

Thank you Cassie for watching it even though it didn't win the poll, and thank you to all fellow Little Chief / Big Chief fans who voted for this. It's not a massively well known film and deserves to be seen by lots more people. Hopefully fans of Cassie who don't know it fall in love with it for the first time like I did many many years ago. I absolutely adore Dennis Quaid's performance in this and Jim Caviezel is a better actor riffing off him. The two of them created one of the most tender father-son relationships you can find in movies for two family relations that often struggle to tell each other they are loved.

Consider it the next time you are looking for an engaging series to binge. "The Expanse" (2015-2022) (62 episodes over 6 seasons). A newer sci-fi series. Drama. Romance. Investigative. Fascinating concepts. Exploration. Takes place on spaceships and on Earth, and on Mars and other locations in space. Much better than Firefly.

2025-03-03 13:00:54 +0000 UTCIt is a bit of trip to see Michael Cera ("Gordy") a couple of years before the role I most know him from - "George Michael Bluth" in "Arrested Development". I know Elizabeth Mitchell most from "ER" back in the 90s and then "Lost" in the 00s. I did look up her IMDB while I was watching and saw a "Santa Clause" movie in there, and as they are talked a bit on the channel, it came as no surprise that it was mentioned in the outro after y'all had looked it up. I think I said this on "The Lake House" reaction, but I wouldn't get too hung on the time stuff too deeply, as it isn't a thing in the real world, so there are no definitive rules about it. As long as the movie follows it's own rules well enough, than I try to avoid getting into the weeds about it.

Michael Douglas, Benicio Del Toro (won Oscar) (also was in Sicario), a young Erika Christensen (awesome), Catherine Zeta-Jones, Don Cheadle, DENNIS QUAID. “Finding Forrester” (2000) [Drama/Comedy] is also a good 2000 movie that I think you would find heartwarming. I wondered if you recognized Andre Braugher (Satch -- the cop friend) as "Thomas" in Glory (1989) -- the free black guy (not a slave) who grew up as a close friend with Col. Robert Shaw (Matthew Broderick) in Massachusetts. One of my favorite scenes was early in the movie when Frank/Jules were being loving/playful with each other and the young Johnny and Gordy were watching. Gave me a warm feeling thinking about a kid watching that instead of their parents fighting or being distant. I like the father/son stuff throughout the movie. I like how creative (a cool premise) the movie with interesting twists that keep one watching. A happy ending, which is nice. Logic seemed to escape me at times, but I just accepted that and enjoyed the movie. 3.5/5

Can't help feeling it would've been a better movie with different leads (I'm not a fan of Quaid or Caviezel), but then again, Game of Thrones would've been better if Adam Driver had played Bran, so that's a slippery slope.

A good choice for Cassie. "The Thin Red Line" (1998) has a stacked star-studded cast = Jim Caviezel (great as a lead), Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Adrien Brody, John Cusack, George Clooney, Woody Harrelson, John Travolta, John C. Reilly, etc.

My wife and I got married in 2001, and in 2000 when we were dating, we went to the movies to see some movie (don't remember) but it was sold out, and the only other movie that was showing at the same time was this. So we bought tickets, not knowing anything about it, and just LOVED it. It is in my top 10 of movies all time. As a father, a son, a husband, this film means so much to me, and I'm so glad I got to experience again, watching it with you two. The ending scene brings me to tears every time, and makes me want to go hug my kids (19 & 15). Thank you for watching this. Matt

My cousin’s wife is a TV producer from the Philippines and when she was at the Wild Card Boxing gym to interview the boxing great Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao she also got to meet Jim Caviezel who was visiting the gym to watch Manny train. The first movie that I saw with Jim Caviezel was in Terrence Malick’s WW2: “The Thin Red Line” (1998). I love him in this movie, which is definitely worth watching! Btw - another great boxing film that has been suggested on the channel is “The Fighter” (2010). Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale actually visited the Wild Card to watch Manny train prior to his fight with Ricky Hatton. I believe they went to watch Manny’s sparring session prior to filming “The Fighter.” Mark Wahlberg is such a fan of Manny’s.
