 Hey guys, whats poppin?

Well we made it to February! It has been a long week over here. Has anyone else felt extra anxious lately? Is there a moon or planet in retrograde or something ;) One of my kids is just dealing with something really hard lately and I don't know how to help and it is breaking my heart. Then emergency dental stuff for another and also the sun has not been out here in a while....

The good little delights are my little girl did a cheerleading clinic for a local high school fundraiser and it was the cutest thing I have ever seen. I love my nails this month so much and Valentines candy is the best candy. Have you tried Jolly Rancher jelly bean hearts? omg.

Movies are looking so great for this week as well! Apes and Harrison and classic romance! If you have not checked out the classic romantic poll so vote! Audrey has an early lead! We are going to try really hard to have Carly watch Planet of the Apes and one of the other this week too!

The POPPIE AWARDS are officially set for March 1st, save the date, the voting form will be out next week! EEEEE!!! I'm so so excited! Oscars who? haha jk

Do any of you have any fun plans for Valentines Day? We are not huge celebrators of the holiday but I'm hoping for a dinner and a chick flick for it ;) I had a friend do fondue with her whole family every v-day and thinking that could be a fun tradition to start. I know, I know, a made up holiday by Hallmark ;)

I also wanted to let you know on this side, Carly and I are moving the podcast to every other week, maybe not forever but for at least the next little while. Check out our latest episode here-STAR TREK SUPERLATIVES where i dissect things like which Star Trek character is most likely to get a tattoo!

Ok love you all, more than even jolly rancher hearts!

Have the best week, tell me a delight you have noticed this week!

George Clooney Jonah Hauer king Emily Blunt and Lea Thompson Horror Movie Called Reaction this film About some Secret Room Go to Adventure Producer of Alice in Wonderland and Harry potter World come true

David

Really enjoyed POA this morning with the reaction you really need to watch them all, I think that would be better and give you a more overall understanding of the series

Steven And Chloe Oddi

Please watch Xanadu!!

CJ Clontz

Clay, sadly, I don't have access to the full reactions yet - which left me screeching when they cut away from the ending scene of "An Officer and a Gentleman" in particular. Seriously, they trimmed THAT SCENE. Just, argh. I have been debating pulling the trigger on the paid subscription, just to be able to vote and see everything uncut, but it IS a bit on the pricey side. We'll see.

Vak

But, technically, it’s not murder. Dracula isn’t human (anymore) and therefore his killing humans can’t be called murder. It’s predation, albeit by a unnatural predator.

Richard Maurer

Estella Warren was indeed gorgeous back then, but, yeah, left a bit to be desired in the acting department. She should've stuck to modeling. Too bad she ended up going down a similar hard-living path to Lindsay Lohan. 😬

Byrd N. Hand

"Titanic 2" -- that is a good one. I like that. I thought Gladiator 2 was ok. I did not suggest it but I would be fine with her reacting to the Marky Mark 2001 remake. Do you have access to the full reactions? Her full reaction to Face/Off is excellent. Would miss nuances in the YT edit.

Clay F

Yes, we all got together while you were at the pub and made a group decision... You're certainly allowed to like it, but I have seen absolutely nothing hinting that it's for me, or for that matter serves any worthwhile purpose. The consensus from reviews is that it's trying to use the same plot (which is no longer creative or even vaguely new-ish), but with an inferior cast and even less of a tenuous connection to history. I just don't see any reason to bother with a setup like that; I'd much rather just rewatch the original. YMMV.

Vak

Money turns heads, and Patreon is terrible for it. Once you start seeing money coming in you just start to crave it more and more and it makes you want more and more so you try to find more ways to squeeze more out of patrons and end up turning on your fiends. I guess you could say Cassie is slowly becoming Gollum 🤣

shireknight

Hi Cassie reaction new film's are the other lamb mary poppins airplane 2 the sequel the neverending story 2 the next chapter Lea thompson film silly film called Brats send old and new movie's

David

….. but it’s done in a romantic, loving way.

Richard Maurer

Yo world...look at my Calvins. See my funky bunch in my Calvins? The white gangsta doin' anything for you yet? Iit's such a...GOOD VIBRATTTIIIOOOOON. Come on come on.

Chris Thom

Nah just let her know it's mostly about the serial murder.

Chris Thom

I know everything feels like such a hustle nowadays doesn't it? I don't know why but it didn't feel so much that way when I was younger. Was probably just naive I guess. But so much feels like exploitation these days. It's strange.

Chris Thom

I'm getting the sense there's a YouTube channel somewhere telling everyone they're not allowed to like Gladiator 2. Was there a group meeting or something? Or people genuinely hate it?

Chris Thom

Mixed reactions to the upcoming list. On the plus side, I really hope Cassie follows up the classic Heston "Planet of the Apes" with the utterly unnecessary and bizarre, yet kind of weirdly magnetic (in a "can't stop watching the train wreck" kind of way) remake with Marky Mark. Hell, Heston has a cameo! As does his infamous quote! And just from an eye-candy-in-a-bad-movie perspective, it's tough to top the combo of Wahlberg and Estella Warren. (OK, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively in "Green Lantern" still hold the top spot, but, wow this one's close.) Also, I admit that I'm looking forward to "Face-Off" just because it's fascinating to watch Travolta trying desperately to out-Cage Nic Cage himself. I mean, THAT'S popcorn-worthy. But...that's balanced against the fact that I have zero intention of ever sitting through "Gladiator II," so that's a PiB reaction I'll sadly likely never watch. If any movie bumps the "Matrix" sequels out of the gold medal slot in "this thing never should have had a sequel," it's "Gladiator." Just...c'mon. What's next, Hollywood? "Titanic II?"

Vak

Curious how Glad II will do on YT for Cassie. Reactions by Reel Rejects and CinePals have not exceeded 63k views in a month. Reception seems to be a collective yawn, LOL.

Joe

That's what she did last month but this month she has put it behind the paywall so that any subscribers who's memberships have lapsed can't see it, even though their choices are supposed to still be in the next draw after they leave. I don't know what to make of it all, this isn't the Cassie I found a few years ago on YouTube, then this was a hobby that made her some money on the side, now she's treating it just like a business and if you stop paying then you're of no value to her anymore so she discards you lol.

shireknight

It looks like Breakfast at Tiffany's will take that slot.

Chris Thom

I thought the draw was up for everyone to see. Isn't the YouTube video right there on the page?

Chris Thom

No Way Out (1987) was the winner. I'm pretty sure I did see Watership Down in the list.

bgb1975 (Brian)

That picture is most definitely from The Philadelphia Story. https://images.fineartamerica.com/images/artworkimages/mediumlarge/2/1-cary-grant-and-katharine-hepburn-in-the-philadelphia-story-1940--album.jpg

Mike LL

Unfortunately, I can't see the pick a film draw because it's locked behind the pay wall and Cassie said my film would be included in it this month. I know it's highly unlikely I won but could someone please tell me which film won the draw please and did you happen to notice if Watership Down 1978 was one of the films listed please. Thank you so much.

shireknight

It won't necessarily be a Cary Grant. That's just a generic picture because the poll isn't over yet. The question mark is the relevant bit. And that picture is from Holiday (1938)

Clarence Newman

I love Working Girl!!! Harrison, Melanie AND Sigourney!! For the life of me, I can't figure out which Cary Grant classic we're getting ( I know that hairline anywhere)!!

fish_thefilmcollector

Excited for Working Girl, both because I enjoyed the movie and because I know Carley and Cassie would love it. Not a huge fan of the early Planet of the Apes films (they'e good, and classic science fiction, but not my favorites). I am however looking forward to when she sees the NEWEST films—especially Rise, Dawn, and War. (Kingdom was okay, but not as good as the "Ceasar trilogy")

D. T. Nelson

It's mostly significant just for being Burton's first of 7 consecutive movies with HBC (and his last of 4 with Lisa Marie).

Byrd N. Hand

Carrot Cake From Raley's Day could also be a banger. Because carrot cakes from Raley's are banging. Seriously so good.

Chris Thom

They also need to know how utterly empty chasing the respect of narcissists really is, and will be, in the end. Better to find a goal for themselves, compete with themselves, and find self respect among people they actually love.

Chris Thom

Seems appropriate in the era of Land of the Lost.

Chris Thom

I don't remember anything about it, tbh. Except for the very end, and I'm pretty sure Helena Bonham Carter shows up at some point. Also; laser canons?

Chris Thom

Those should be hang up in every break room.

Chris Thom

Yeah I'm not surprised. At all.

Chris Thom

She has already said that she is doing the original from 1968 then is going directly to the four current era Matt Reeves series. So that would be five movies total.

Mike LL

No love for The Satanic Rites of Dracula? I remember having an argument with my Nan when I was about 12 because she wouldn't let me stay up and watch it. Tried my best to persuade her it was the artistry of the genre I was drawn to and not the hot ladies in Wonderbras.

Clarence Newman

Did you identify with the Chasing Amy story about Banky's childhood? :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Thanks for the offer, but it's remarkable (truly) how few new movies I've watched in the past year.

Happy Hanukkah

You've reminded me of Dolphin Boy by Corky and the Juice Pigs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMNlt9oNfxM

Happy Hanukkah

Careful, RM. I just might agree to your alternative! :-) (And imagine the horror, the horror, if Cassie falls so in love with the plot that she decides she *must* watch this version too! :-) )

Happy Hanukkah

Surely the Trekker who'd get a tattoo is Spock?

Sean

I was thinking maybe that too Joe. There's a solution but she has not invited me to discuss it with her :P

V M

Shh... dont mention it :/

V M

When Cassie first mentioned the podcast, i said "She doesnt have time for a podcast" because I thought itd be every day :p

V M

@ Joe - I will be pleasantly surprised if Cassie sticks to a regular monthly schedule for this, surprised being the operative word. Her track record for doing things on a regular basis isn’t the best.

Richard Maurer

Joe, true 😂

Mark White

Mark, I will probably just watch her reaction to the 68 OG anyway, as I'm not a fan of the franchise (old or new). She may get "ape" fatigue just doing 5 films, LOL.

Joe

Yeah in addition 👍

Milton William Burray

@Richard, I can't think of any logical reason she would hesitate doing monthly random polls, we just need to keep reminding her to do them. Alternate these monthly by genre. Another monthly poll could be targeted by actor, director, by decade, Oscar winners, etc. Can she just put me in charge for a year, LOL.

Joe

@ Milton - The idea for PaF was for people to be able to pick WHATEVER film they want. Keeping “niche” films out would defeat the purpose. Unless you you mean for these polls to be in addition to the regular monthly PaF, that I ‘d have no problem with. @Joe - if she was going to do it twice a month she’s half a month late - the first polls were Jan. 8th. I doubt it will even be once a month, but I’d be glad if it was. I’m afraid it might end up being once or twice a quarter.

Richard Maurer

If a sequel/prequel upholds the integrity of the original film, I think it's genuinely worthwhile.

Byrd N. Hand

Ah, well Joe, that is a different matter all together. I often see people in the comment section say, they just vote for what they like and not for what they think Cassie will like. Now I’m normally one for asking for movies and voting for movies that I think Cassie will like, irrespective of the fact I and other people may not like the movie. For example I have asked for “Cocktail” recently, not exactly my cup of tea!! But I’m sure a Cassie movie. I have never asked for “Scarface” which I Love, because I feel it’s just not something she would enjoy. I do feel I have sometimes gotten a little flak in the past for saying “it’s not really a Cassie movie” even when I like it! So I have not voted for it. Now I like the 70s sequels, but I agree maybe Cassie wouldn’t enjoy them in the same way! So my question is, should I ask for them? Joe, I will just add, I may be over thinking this abit!! 🤪😆

Mark White

Very true! My brother actually had a POTA lunch box and playset with action figures and buildings, he loved these movies

Sam Wilson

That movie is the template for Tropic Thunder II. Downey as a now corpulent actor who does not care anymore. It practically writes itself.

TheSingulatarian

She did use a random generator for the 1-50, 51-100, and 101-200 polls. I think she plans to do these regularly, hopefully at least twice a month.

Joe

I say spin the wheel regularly on a spur of the moment, also use it to create polls Making polls would also function to avoid the most niche titles breaking through

Milton William Burray

I can't carry anything over 30 pounds or so but otherwise I'm mostly back to normal. Thanks

Katie Jackson

I just don't feel the 70s sequels would hit at all with Cassie.

Joe

I'm curious what the problem is...maybe dealing with some bullies.

Joe

A podcast every week never seemed sustainable to me. Carly does have other things on her mind right now, LOL.

Joe

Very excited for Planet of the Apes! I love that franchise, I recently binged all the films. It’s a great time and it’s cool being able to look back when you start the new films and see the references to the originals. I only made it half way through the Mark Walberg remake film tho, which is fine since it’s not connected to the franchise. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes ended up being one of my favourite films from last year.

Han

You couldn't escape these frigging apes in the 70s, LOL. Even had a lame TV show for one year. I liked the 68 film, it's a classic, the follow-up films were a step down in quality...they just kept making them.

Joe

Yeah, I wish Cassie wouldn't make us wait...just do it on the 1st or 2nd of the month.

Joe

oh no the original is a classic but are going to have to watch the avertisement for Beastiality with Mark Walberg remake also . and there is like- 10 of them LOL. all with humans as the bad guys -like the visually Magnificent but with a Pagan spiritual and Beastial messages. , Avatar ? and working girl ? "One Fine Day". would have been way better well maybe ill get lucky and the vote will be . " Bringing up Baby"

Nolofinwe

We shall have to swap Catholic school stories Walter. Let's just say I was not a favorite of the nuns. And when I say not a favorite I mean they thought I was a rejected spawn of Lucifer who was just smart enough to know which button to press on each one of them, and spent my days lighting them up like the floors on a hundred story building.

Above Average Dave

God bless your Mom and you Katie. I hope you're fully healed after the tumble in the cooler.

Above Average Dave

I remember after my buddies and I saw DAY OF THE DOLPHIN one very late night in college we were all doing THOSE voices for a couple weeks. It paired well with my Flipper imitation, which was always a hit with the ladies but freaked out anyone dropping acid at the moment. Ahhh, those times as a sophomore in college—seven of the best years of my life.

Above Average Dave

I agree, I had a similar reaction with the modern remakes. I found a certain charm about the original series and was emotionally invested in Cornelius and Zira's story as much as I was of Charlton Heston's character. Which is why I really enjoyed the original sequels. I thought Roddy McDowall and Kim Hunter were great in those roles. I didn't feel the same connection to the modern remake.

Mark T

Mark. Yep, sometimes the mind can go full-on Grima Wormtongue, can't it? As you point out, though, just getting up and doing something can shut him up.

Clarence Newman

Yikes! I thought the original series withered after the second one. I've not had a shred of interest in any of the others. I thought Heston in the original and James Franciscus nailed their roles and the stories of the first two were solid. And of course, Linda Harrison as Nova held the two together (😂).

Above Average Dave

I think I could do that, Richard. Here's one we could send Cassie: "If you're feeling alone, just turn out the lights and put on a horror movie. You won't feel alone for long."

Clarence Newman

Yeah, I’m not going to be disappointed if Cassie doesn’t watch them, just would of been nice. But I do understand most don’t want them for time reasons. It’s POTA, not Star Trek! I throw my toys out of my pram when it’s comes to missing trek! 😆

Mark White

You never know, maybe Cassie will get Good Vibrations from Marky mark and his funky bunch! 😉😂

Mark White

I have nostalgia for the old ones too (even though I don't remember them very well), but now think of the old ones as more for hardcore fans? I loved the 1968 original [IMDb 8.0, RT 86% (audience 88%)] as a kid, and the early 70s movies were a way for me when younger to extend that feeling. But I also understand now they may not be the greatest, but don't really know. I initially suggested to skip the 70's movies to make reacting to the franchise less commitment and thus more likely that she would react to the franchise, but now that the decision has been made to react to PoA franchise, I guess I have no strong preference whether the 70s movies or skipped or not. I think Celeste would like for them to be included. In the live last week, Cassie said the thought is to react to five: the 1968 original + the 4 newest movies. She said she would skip the Tim Burton 2001 remake but wondered (a little hesitant) because one of her friends liked it. I saw no one in the comments object to skipping the 70's movies or the 2001 remake, but I missed a comment in support of the 2001 remake.

Clay F

Thanks for those figures Clay, boy, those numbers are high for the new ones. Yeah, I think Cassie will like the new ones more.

Mark White

I like them Clarence, some good stuff there. I’m a bit weird though with my Anxiety! So, the only time I am Anxiety free is when I’m hanging 50-80ft up a tree with a chainsaw! Or best of all, hanging off a cliff, up a mountain! (When on Holiday) when I’m up there I just feel free from all the crap in my head! All I’m thinking is what’s my next move. Nothing else is in my brain. I’m calm, at ease. No clutter! Or fog! When I come down from a mountain Climb, my wife tells me, that’s the only time she gets the real me! Just for a few days until it wears off. (She does have to put up with a lot!) Put me in a office and I’m a nervous wreck!

Mark White

Yeah, so Clay, I’m not saying Cassie should skip anything really. Just that I found “Battle” to be a bit flat. Looking at those RT scores for the originals, I would mirror those with how I would rank them. Again I can’t offer much on the new ones. Just “Rise”, but maybe watching with Cassie may help me enjoy it more. But again, I’m probably talking with massive nostalgia goggles on! 😎

Mark White

Do you work for a company that makes wall plaques?

Richard Maurer

I am going to pull the “she needs to watch the older versions first before she watches this version” card. Except with the change of skipping this version altogether.

Richard Maurer

Where is Mike Lemon when I need him?

Richard Maurer

Hold on to your bucket of popcorn, there's 10 total, five from the 1960s and '70s and five from the 2000s

Sam Wilson

I firmly believe most sequels are a waste of time, and even most the people supporting these sequels (as well as others) acknowledge they are of diminishing quality, and are just being nostalgia-goggle completists. Cassie only has so much time to watch movies, and filling that time with unnecessary sequels “just to complete the series” is a waste.

Richard Maurer

And when will the PaF spin be held?

bgb1975 (Brian)

I'm afraid to ask....how many Planet of the Apes movies are there?

bgb1975 (Brian)

POTA yes! Working Girl 🤮

John Cranberry

Geesh, don't know what you guys are talking about 😎

Mike LL

I was just thinking that, Milt. Hopefully, it will slip Cassie's mind before the end of the film.

Clarence Newman

Here's a few tortilla wraps to slap your anxiety with.... "Anxiety is interest you pay on a debt you may not owe." "You are stronger than you think. You've made it through every bad day in your life, and you are undefeated." "If pleasures are greatest in anticipation, just remember that this is also true of trouble." "There is a condition worse than blindness, and that is seeing something that isn't there." "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of overcoming it." "I learned there are troubles of more than one kind - some come from ahead, some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have trouble with me." "I always believed it was me against the world. Then one day I realised, it's just me against me." "Some unknown joys there be, laid up in store for me." "For every ailment under the sun, there is a remedy or there is none. If there be one, try to find it; if there be none, never mind it." "Two men looked out from prison bars. One saw the mud, the other saw the stars." "My life has been full of terrible misfortunes....most of which never happened."

Clarence Newman

It was hard watching my kids be ill, especially if they had a nagging cough. So you are suggesting she react to Beneath, Escape, and Conquest, but skip Battle? I remember being up late watching those on TV 40-50 years ago. IMDb 6.0, RT 37% = Beneath (1970) IMDb 6.3, RT 76% = Escape (1971) IMDb 6.1, RT 52% = Conquest (1972) IMDb 5.4, RT 36% = Battle (1973) I liked the first Serkis movie, and think she will like all 4 but not sure. IMDb 7.6, RT 82% = Rise (2011) IMDb 7.6, RT 91% = Dawn (2014) IMDb 7.4, RT 94% = War (2017) IMDb 6.9, RT 80% = Kingdom (2024)

Clay F

That atomic spoiler on the the Apes poster though...

Milton William Burray

With regards your son it's the primary task of parents to develop children into adults that don't need parents anymore. It's hard for mothers particularly because they have to let their sons go and cannot ultimately lead boys into manhood - which starts happening about 12-14 . The reality is that boys have got to toughen up and shoulder burdens, or they will never respect themselves or have the respect of their peers, as men are basically measured by the suffering they can endure, particularly for the sake of others

Milton William Burray

Hi Cassie, my Anxiety has gone the other way, but it tends to, as I get to this time of year. My work is just starting to slow down abit now. I would guess your increased Anxiety is connected to your little ones going through difficult times. I can’t begin to imagine how tough it must be, to be a mother and watch your children struggle! You come across as an amazing mom and I’m sure with your love and support those kids will get through anything. It’s another great line up of movies. You are going to love “Working girl” one of my moms favs. As for POTA, can’t wait! But I do ask, if you can, to watch the original sequels. The first three sequels are definitely worth a watch (I say with my nostalgia goggles on!) the last is meh. Apart from the first of the new ones, I will be watching them for the first time with you. I wasn’t a big fan of the first, but hopefully I will enjoy the second time around. A delight this week, the sun is out, at last! I’m spending all day sat with wifey and I’m going to get POTA on PiB! 😃 You are the best ❤️

Mark White

Mark, I agree 100%

Mark White

Richard, reading the comments so far, it seams there are many who would agree with you. But I’m sorry to say i can’t completely agree. Yes, I do think the quality of the original sequels goes down abit, but I still like the first three sequels. It’s only 73’ Battle I felt was poor. So I personally would like to see Cassie watch them. I have seen the 2001 reboot and didn’t think much to it. I have seen the first of the modern ape movies 2011 rise and this will be a unpopular opinion! But wasn’t a fan. It was ok, but just didn’t flick my switch I’m afraid, which is why I haven’t seen the sequels. Maybe it’s because I had nostalgia Goggles on, or my growing dislike of CGI at that time. I don’t know why! Maybe I will enjoy more when Cassie watch’s it. But I would like Cassie to watch all the originals.

Mark White

Mark, good points. Maybe she could react to Beneath, Escape, and Conquest, and skip Battle? I have nostalgia for them, catching them 50 years ago on TV in the 1970's

Clay F

♪ I hate every ape I see... from chimpan-A to chimpan-Z.... ♫

rakesh

I see your point about the original series. I think "Beneath" gets more bad-mouthing than it deserves. Yet "Escape" and "Conquest" are very good. Roddy McDowell's monologue at the end of Conquest is practically Oscar worthy. "Battle" is quite weak. Maybe it is more for die hards, but is a good series.

Mark Vaderr

Sorry Chris, it was a good attempt, and the make-up in that movie is incredible. There just feels like something is missing from that movie.

Mark Vaderr

Planet of the Apes with Carly! LFG

Danny

Can't wait for you to get to the more modern Planet of the Apes trilogy starting in 2011! The original is pretty good but the other older ones are quite bad. So I am hoping you decide to just get to the newer ones after you watch the original. But I totally get it if you want to watch all of them.

shaneth138

"Dead Poets Society" was '89 and "The Truman Show" was '98, BTW. 🤓 Peter Weir is an incredibly underrated director. "Gallipoli" and "The Year of Living Dangerously" are also overlooked classics.

Byrd N. Hand

The early 1970's movies are more for hardcore fans imo, but I would not object if she reacted to one or more of those -- I liked Escape (1971). I suggested to skip the Burton 2001 remake, but the makeup effects are good. Good point about the somewhat arduous path of X-Men movies (11 movies maybe?) I think the plan is these five: the 1968 original + the 4 Serkis movies. In the live last week, all the comments seem to agree, though I was later corrected by a fellow patron who said he commented in support of the 2001 remake (which Cassie seemed to have an interest in the 2001 remake because one of her friends liked it). The 1968 is a must. IMDb 8.0, RT 86% (audience 88%) = 1968 original I would not object if she reacted to the four 1970's movies, but would also go with a consensus to skip them. IMDb 6.0, RT 37% = Beneath (1970) IMDb 6.3, RT 76% = Escape (1971) IMDb 6.1, RT 52% = Conquest (1972) IMDb 5.4, RT 36% = Battle (1973) The Burton 2001 remake has excellent makeup effects but the story/performances are not as compelling to me. I did like the Tim Roth performance of General Thade. IMDb 5.7, RT 43% (audience 27%) = 2001 remake I think Cassie will like these four, but we'll see. IMDb 7.6, RT 82% = Rise (2011) IMDb 7.6, RT 91% = Dawn (2014) IMDb 7.4, RT 94% = War (2017) IMDb 6.9, RT 80% = Kingdom (2024)

Clay F

You mean, movies didn't just suddenly exist in the '90s??!?!? 😲😲😲

Byrd N. Hand

Ridley Scott has largely lost his way over the last decade or so.

Byrd N. Hand

Well, she wasted her time on the Disney Star Wars movies... 🤐

Byrd N. Hand

"Lawrence of Arabia" is still less of a slog than David Lean's next 2 films, "Doctor Zhivago" and "Ryan's Daughter," despite both being 20-ish minutes shorter. Even Scorsese's "The Irishman," a more modern film, felt longer. 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

Chris, I haven't detected much love for it anywhere. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

The documentary Bob mentions is an interesting look at the making of a fascinating misfire (to be kind). An alternate TLDR: the set was filled with people either making each other miserable or wishing they were elsewhere. But then, if the production had been more normal, would the movie have been anywhere near as memorable? :-) A slightly less troubled late-Brando movie appropriate for Romance February is Don Juan DeMarco (1996), starring Johnny Depp.

Happy Hanukkah

@Richard with a pitstop over at Burton's POTA. (hides)

Philip Alan

Generally agree with your comments, but I would preferred Lost in Translation or Thelma & Louise.

Clay F

@Richard haha!

Philip Alan

@Chris what a great reaction that would be. I second that request!

Philip Alan

Of course, Cassie has already seen it spoofed in "Spaceballs," so whatever. 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

Wow! I have my own stalker! :-) :-) But seriously, I have no helpful answer for you. I wakes up, and zoom! my brain takes off, dragging me behind it as I hold on for dear life.

Happy Hanukkah

Griffith is also Tippi Hedren's (of "The Birds" fame) daughter, BTW. I also remember "Working Girl" being fairly popular. It's an enjoyable enough movie (it's particularly interesting to see Sigourney Weaver in a more villainous role and one of the earliest examples of Kevin Spacey playing a sleazeball), but I feel it was a bit too lightweight for its Best Picture nod. I'd have preferred that fifth slot going to something like "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" or "The Last Temptation of Christ." 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

"Carnal Knowledge" as well.

Byrd N. Hand

Burton's *2001 "Apes" remake is easily his weakest effort -- and his only one that doesn't remotely feel like a 'Tim Burton film.' 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

A popular move in politics these days. lol

Chris Thom

Thank you

Katie Jackson

Hope the kid going through stuff gets through it soon

V M

Damn no love for the Tim Burton 2000 one on here.

Chris Thom

Me too!

V M

It could be the door in the face technique. See, you make a large, unreasonable request (hey, can you watch this series of 7 movies?), and you follow that request by a smaller, more acceptable request (hey, can you watch Horror of Dracula?) The idea is that the contrast between the two requests makes the second one seem more reasonable and appealing, increasing the likelihood of compliance :P and yes, the series of 7 may not be an unreasonable request, but you get the picture :P

V M

POTA - *\o/* I was expecting just Cassie but alright, bring Carly along too.

V M

“Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Island of Dr. Moreau” is a fantastic documentary on the making of the movie. I wish we could’ve seen Richard Stanley’s original vision of the film.

Just Plain Bob

WooHooo! We finally have reached Planet of the Apes! I will say again, Cassie, PLEASE watch the entire series of the original Apes series! They are worth watching! You watched everything X-Men, therefore you can watch everything Apes. Although you can skip the Tim Burton Apes movie. Go for it, Cassie, don't be afraid to watch them all!

Mark Vaderr

Aww I love surprises. lol

Chris Thom

And also Chris, Jim Cornette is banned from Canada. Here’s why (Strong Language): https://youtu.be/hTch18hAHkA?si=L7VJMytRmGwwRxVi

Anthony Carlson

I've been watching you for years...and I've always been very curious. Where do you get your ideas from?

Chris Thom

HH - No

Richard Maurer

That might make you the first on the channel. Such a strange movie and performance by Marlon Brando. Have to admit it does pair pretty well with Planet of the Apes though.

Chris Thom

Wiser? Maybe. But I believe Fortune Favors the Bold!

Richard Maurer

Btw, Emily Bett Rickards is Canadian so here’s a bonus for PiB lol

Anthony Carlson

Didn't know about the first two. Knew the first was a famous novel. I think my favorites are probably Closer, Graduate, and Virginia Woolf.

Chris Thom

Surely it would be wiser to push only for the first, secretly banking on the fact she wouldn't be able to stop! :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Makes sense for February, Richard…Dracula is a romantic deep down. He’s just a guy looking for a long term relationship he can sink his teeth into.

Dan M

It is February 2025, and I hereby advocate for *that* version of The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996). [#002]

Happy Hanukkah

I am prompted to present one of Norm Macdonald's most hilarious jokes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlYF8RPa4Zs [first clip]

Happy Hanukkah

“Did I miss Something?” Cassie near the end of No Country For Old Men. I am sometimes Haunted by that scene where the Sheriff goes to meet his cousin, “Coach Whitey from One Tree Hill”. I know there is more there. It bothers me. Something elusive, like a dream that you can’t quite remember how it ends.

Uncle Phoenix

I agree. While I enjoyed the sequels to the original 1968 movie, I don’t see Cassie getting invested in them all that much. Once she’s seen Rise of the Planet of the Apes, however, I think she’ll be all in and anxious to get to the next three.

Dan M

And I’m right there with you…Cassie will absolutely love Nine Months. I’m hoping there will be a modern romance poll and it shows up there. And if not, perhaps a PiB Pick of the Month.

Dan M

AC, even without knowing the surrounding details, that short was hilarious. :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Chris, I had the same reaction, momentarily wondering if that was Neve. But no, it's Emily Bett Rickards. And most importantly, the incomparable Walton Goggins!

Happy Hanukkah

Best wishes that your mom’s procedure goes smoothly and she’s back home soon.

Dan M

It’s a shame your first exposure to the Apes movies was Tim Burton’s take on it. I guess for someone who had never seen the original movies , Tim Burton’s movie was enjoyable. But once you’ve seen the original, and absolutely once you’ve seen the newer movies, you’ll understand why Tim Burton’s version is dismissed by many.

Dan M

Correct. ( I wouldn’t have taken that bet ;-) The original featured the Cage minus Nicholas. What you brought home with you many years later changed it. I guess that was the biggest selling factor at that point.

Larry Darrell

Oh Cassie…I remember when my girls were in grade school and it seemed like every other week one of them would get sick, then she’d get better and the other would get sick, and eventually my wife would catch whatever they were dealing with. I have some kind of super immune system and I very rarely got sick even though they would often fall asleep in my arms and breathe their toxic germy breath all over me. I can definitely relate to what you’re going through, and wholeheartedly sympathize. Our usual Valentine’s Day plans are very much like yours. Dinner out and maybe a movie if there is one my wife wants to see (she’s very much like you pre-PiB). We found a new restaurant not far from where we live where a duo plays piano and sax live while you eat…very romantic. Looking forward to the lineup this week. I’m interested to hear your take on Planet of the Apes premise, and I’m really pumped for you to start the newer Apes movies and hear your comparisons to the original. Working Girl has long been a favorite and is a perfect movie for February. Hope all of your kids get healthy soon and stay healthy so you and Ben can exhale and enjoy Valentine’s Day together. January is gone, the month of romance is here, and Spring isn’t too far off…there’s light at the end of the tunnel!

Dan M

After these PotA films I know a great series you could tackle next - the Dracula films starring Christopher Lee from Hammer films. Just the first four, Horror of Dracula Dracula: Prince of Darkness Dracula Has Risen From the Grave Taste the Blood of Dracula You don’t need to watch all seven (unless you want to). I know this isn’t going to happen - but it should. Because it would be cool as H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks.

Richard Maurer

There's no way on Earth that was the original. In fact, I'll wager you five poll votes something like that was not used in such a capacity until a generation later. (SPOILER: Yes, the first sentence contains a joke.)

Happy Hanukkah

That’s fine but it’s just not worth it imo, due to how bad some of the sequels are especially the second one, as it’s completely pointless.

Dean Holt

The sequels go steadily downhill, imo. I’d rather she not waste so much time and just move on to the Matt Reeves films,

Richard Maurer

I did Nazi that coming either.

TheSingulatarian

I would say no. There are a lot of little Easter Eggs in the new series that tie back to the original movies.

TheSingulatarian

I guess it’s strange to like both the original PotA and the latest series. Or maybe it’s just being open-minded.

Richard Maurer

I first saw “Planet of the Apes” on tv as a kid. I loved it and the entire original five film series. I also watched the cartoon series and live action Saturday morning series. Great franchise. Word to the wise, though: stay away from the Marky Mark remake. The story is weak, Marky Mark’s acting is as wooden as a cigar store Indian and it seemed as though they ran out of budget 2/3 of the way thru. But the makeup effects by Rick Baker were brilliant (and far, far better than the CGI used in the later rebooted franchise).

Just Plain Bob

https://youtube.com/shorts/N3wpzqMGuO8?si=yJh8PGoqQ-cXv2wd Here’s what Jim is known in the wrestling business.

Anthony Carlson

Yes, I hope so to. I know some people don’t like the sequels, but I always enjoyed them. Defiantly worth a watch.

Mark White

Yes. This movie is about a female wrestler named Mildred Burke who became the first million dollar female athlete in history. Several wrestling figures appears in this movie, including the controversial Jim Cornette.

Anthony Carlson

The Odd Couple.

TheSingulatarian

Catch-22 (1970) The Day of the Dolphin (1973) The Birdcage (1996) Some of my favorites of Mike Nichols.

Larry Darrell

It’s such an iconic part of Pop Culture now. Definitely inescapable. I mean parody has already happened here. Honestly, I’ll be surprised if she is surprised.

Larry Darrell

Thanks

Katie Jackson

Didn’t see this earlier…Apes! I am so excited!

Walter Crockett

Oh right. Yeah that's unfortunate. But I don't think Spoiler Laws were in place in 1968. Or they hadn't been codified.

Chris Thom

Have only seen these in bits and pieces. Saw almost the whole thing of one, but I'm actually not sure which it was. Had no idea there were this many of the early ones. Tim Burton 2000 was the first one I saw.

Chris Thom

[Deliberately being vague, just in case.] I know that some images and scenes have so entered public consciousness as to be practically inescapable, but still, for the love of Ghu!!! 😤

Happy Hanukkah

Hope your mom is alright.

Chris Thom

Was kind of a dark and cold and weird January. And now it's February! So there's that. Hope your kiddos are alright. Sometimes I have flashbacks to all the little crises growing up, and kind of glad it's over. But hey they get to have Cassie as a mom, so they already hit the jackpot. They'll be alright. Glad you're watching Working Girl finally! Think you'll enjoy it. It's directed by Mike Nichols who was one of the best in the business, and he has some others that are classics too. Very talented. Love to everyone for Love Day!

Chris Thom

My eyes aren't working that well at the moment but pretty sure that was Josh Lucas and Neve Campbell?

Chris Thom

I may just tune in for the major awards to see Fernanda Torres & “I’m Still Here” triumph (at least I hope so bc I’ve been missing out on incredible Brazilian cinema). The downfall of Oscar bait “Emilia Perez” has been fast & furious and quite historic.

Rose

I never heard of Jolly rancher jelly Bean Hearts sounds great , I hope she watches Planet of the apes with you , its a classic

Sam R.

It's still a great film ... worth Cassie's time.

cfb0453

It was a joke cause I used to get them gifted to me without trying for a long time. Its all good.

David Freese

Hopefully you’ll get a membership on YT one day lol

Anthony Carlson

Your welcome

David Freese

Off topic: What do you guys think of this? https://youtu.be/jXBbdsWsJM0?si=j4FPuHHZ4NpTIStF (Not a request for Cassie)

Anthony Carlson

First thought was Madison Bailey & Drew Starkey from OBX. I knew that was WAY off but currently on a “Riara” binge. Now I know, too ☺️

Rose

Shoutout Ceci for bringing her brother Oscar to speak at our high school. It was so cool to see him in person - including Mr. T!

Rose

Don't forget boxing great Oscar De La Hoya!

Louisa Moritz

I do now Thanks!

David Bockly

I haven't seen "Working Girl" in a while, but remember enjoying it.

Stephen Dias

Come on surely you must remember Oscar Madison, Felix Unger's sloppy roommate in the movie/tv series the Odd Couple

Frank Edwards

Fondue might be a new Valentine's tradition. Sounds good.

Stephen Dias

I feel for your kids. At least it seems your little girl had a fun week. As for the lineup, this is a great week. I am big fan of Planet of the Apes (1968). I like Working Girl (1988), which I remember in 1988 being popular -- Melanie Griffith was well known at the time. Some may not know that Melanie Griffith is Dakota Johnson's mother. I am curious about Breakfast at Tiffany's (which I have not seen). I love Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday.

Clay F

Planet of the Apes was one of the earliest films I watched. My mother would take us to a drive in and we would lie down in the back of a VW Squareback (kind of mini station wagon). My sister and I would watch part of a movie and fall asleep every time. It was my mother's trick for quiet alone time. But I definitely remember the start of Planet of the Apes even if I didn't make it all the way through. It was so exciting to see the apes. I was too young to really get it all, but Charlton Heston seemed like the most manly man I'd ever seen in my life.

James Melton

OK I know and agree with Oscar Meyer and Oscar the Grouch but who is Madison??

David Bockly

Can't wait for the Poppies!! Always a great time! BTW No other award show can hold a candle to the Poppies, the only Oscar's I pay any attention too are Meyer, the Grouch and Madison! Best wishes for you little one who is having a tough go of it, and your little girl's cheerleading clinic sounds absolutely adorable!

Sam Wilson

She reacted to AWILondon.

Brent Petty

I’m done getting my hopes up on these things. Pick-a-Flick is the only way.

Larry Darrell

All the original films, not just the first, are what kept creating Planet of the Apes fans over the years. Without ALL the original films, an argument could be made that the new films wouldn’t have happened.

Larry Darrell

Working girl ! Can’t go wrong! Chocolate roses are a great gift 🌷 For the occasion lol

Jason Henderson

You were working against yourself by putting so many 50s and 60s films on the poll with it. ;-)

Larry Darrell

I liked Gladiator 2. I wish I would seen it in the theater.

Clay F

Thank you, the OG 5 is a good series...there's a certain charm to all of them and a good message that helps you appreciate the newer ones, except for Burtons...

Chris Retzlaff

"The Philadelphia Story" will likely finish 3rd or 4th in the poll.

Clay F

Way to chime in Bright eyes.......

Chris Retzlaff

Caesar doesn’t appear until Escape From the Planet of the Apes (1971)

Larry Darrell

Your Franchise reactions have always been consistently amazing Cassie 👍. From Rocky to indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, star wars, lethal weapon, die hard, 007, Mission impossible, Xmen, Star trek and probably a few more I've missed. It's really rewarding to see you organically grow to love certain characters more and more as you go on. For a minute I thought you would go on to the newer monsterverse movies of Godzilla and king Kong and hopefully you'll return to them sometime in the future but the planet of the apes are classics and the newer franchise movies were really well done so very excited for that.

Nim

Not Paris

Larry Darrell

Working Girl!!! Finally!! Thank You. Also, For What it’s Worth… I believe you are planning on watching the original Planet of the Apes (1968) film, and then skipping to the new ones. FYI, there was more than one original film. A series of 5 films… Planet of the Apes (1968) Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970)… direct sequel. Escape From the Planet of the Apes (1971) Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973) Just so you know, the new films are NOT a remake of the first or second film. They are a remake of the last 3 films… Escape (1971) Conquest (1972) Battle (1973) All of the original films are worth seeing.

Larry Darrell

John, best wishes for you and sister! Hope everyone is better soon!

Steve Holton

You have to remember, there have been many movies that Patreon supporters panned which Cassie really enjoyed. While I agree the original sequels were not as good as the original, that's almost always the case with sequels with very few exceptions. Beneath the Planet of the Apes is not bad, and I actually really enjoyed Escape from the Planet of the Apes and Conquest of the Planet of the Apes with the late great RM.

Mark T

Sorry, you've got some tough things going on. I hope the kiddo gets through the rough patch soon. My Valentines Day plans are on hold this year. My mom has to have a heart ablation on Valentines Day so, my boyfriend and I are pushing our plans by a week or so. Looking forward to Planet Of The Apes. Still hoping for Nine Months sometime in February. The cast is stacked and it has everything that you want in a rom com. I think it will probably make it on your short list of favorite rom coms. 🤞you get to react to it soon. Bummed that An Affair To Remember isn't doing better in the poll. You'll get to it eventually and I'm sure you'll love it when you do.

Katie Jackson

Okay, so I was 10 and going to a Catholic school in Chicago back in 1983. I was in the choir and we had practice after classes. WGN was airing the original 5 Planet of the Apes movies in the afternoon - one each day - so I had to ditch choir so I could run home to watch them. I got kicked out of choir (after I told them why I skipped), but that started a life long love of the Apes series.

Walter

Thx! No wonder I couldn't find it in YouTube

Blake Binky

I am distraught that my beloved Charade is going to lose another poll...but one of my top 5 PIB wish list films - Working Girl - is coming! Woot!

Walter

The Planet of the Apes series from the 2011-24 is better than the original 70s series. Best to just skip the Mark Wahlberg 2001 version. I hope Funny Girl wins the romance poll because I know you love a based on true story films. At some point you should take a peak at Barefoot In the Park. I don't think there were two more attractive stars in 1967 than Redford and Fonda. I hope Carly is there for Working Girl so we can get a, "they just don't make them like that anymore!" It's a sweet little story that is so 80s I can almost smell the Aqua Net.

Javier Hernandez

I’m looking forward to your dive into Planet of the Apes. As long as you’re looking at actors in ape suits in 1968, I strongly suggest also watching 2001: A Space Odyssey, which was SO influential on so much of the sci-fi you have watched and the effects for the time were awesome. But let’s get back to the real topic, Valentine’s candy. I make the best truffles. (Well, I used to - it’s been a while.) They’re not hard and they’re so good. It’s a bit of an investment and your kitchen will be covered in chocolate but they’re amazing. It’s just combining the best dark chocolate you can find with heavy cream and then dipping it in more chocolate. I never used liqueurs or bothered tempering the chocolate and they were always a hit. I’m a SAG-AFTRA member and am now doing my own watching marathon before the votes are due for the SAG awards. I wish I could watch them with all of you! I’m not sure I’m going to get to all the nominated TV shows. If anyone has any strong opinions on who I should vote for make your case.

jdj830

She's already reacted to it

Stick Figure Studios

She has already said that that is the plan, skip right to the modern Matt Reeves series of Apes films after the originals. Good plan!

Mike LL

Doog Ftuss (I meant to type good stuff, but somehow my brain starting typing "Doog" instead of good, and it was so odd that I wanted to just keep going and follow through with it for fun.

YodatheHobbit

I like how in the Romantic Poll winner slot you have The Philadelphia Story pictured! Must be a good omen!!

Mike LL

The howling is much beter

Movie Maestro

@Stranger2Reality: You paid money to see it....that really hurts, ouch! Surprised me the studio would green-light the film at all.

Joe

Hi Cassie, a suggestion for next year's valentine's poll: Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), a masterpiece of a film directed by Peter Weir, who went on to direct Dead Poet's Society (1987), The Truman Show (1997) and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003). The film is set in Australia on 14th February 1900, which is why I thought it would be a good reaction on Valentine's Day

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Most people won't suffer sorry you will.

David Freese

I'm hoping she skips the original sequels too, can always go back to them eventually.

Joe Mallard

things are to a little hairy and coming get you little bit of horror and little bit of comedy this film called AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS

David

My hopes and best wishes for the family, feeling a bit besieged that way myself right now, taking care of my sister who nearly got destroyed by the damn norovirus, managed to get home then got sick again, got an infection from a penny sized kidney stone. The Planet of the Apes were good, especially the 1st 2. Working Girl, yet more Sigourney Weaver, you're getting a bunch of hers, if you ever get to Annie Hall, I ll tell you where to find her in it, only there for a minute.

John

Well Ceasar wasn't quite there yet on the original movies but yes Hail Ceasar eventually

David Freese

I really enjoyed both your reaction to Gladiator (2000), please react to more Ridley Scott films! I think you would both love Thelma & Louise (1991). It made Brad Pitt the A-List star he is today!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Every Valentine's Day we watch True Romance & Seven. Booze & a great dinner at home.

Philip Alan

Cassie if you’re looking to watch a rom com on the 14th. You and your husband will love i want you back(2022), somebody that i used to know (2023) something from Tiffanys (2022) or binge watch nobody wants this on Netflix. Love you cass have a great Valentine’s

Miguel Dario

At least we agree on one movie lol maybe 2 if you voted the same as I did on the poll

David Freese

Its cause what the majority want. She does so much of outliers like classics and so forth. Franchise movies take less than 20 percent of the channel over the last 4 years.

David Freese

Is Carly going to have Breakfast with you and Tiffany, if so, you should eat more than Popcorn.

Clayton Johnson

It just posted on Patreon yesterday

David Freese

Very interested to see what you make of Planet of the Apes. If your planning on watching the franchise I’d personally suggest after watching the one from 1968. Just jump straight to the later ones starting with the one in 2011. As the sequels to the 68 film are average at best and the direct sequel to the original is shockingly bad Imo. I don’t really want to say why just in case you decide to watch them all. I’m sure your going to love Working Girl and whatever wins the poll.

Dean Holt

Sorry about your kid whose struggling. Its hard to see that from your kids. Hope it all works out. Thank you for the starting Planet of the Apes. I really hope you enjoy this franchise.

David Freese

You and Carly wil Love-Love-Love WORKING GIRL. Melanie Griffith and Harrison Ford had great chemistry and it's a fun story. Can't believe you've not seen this RomCom but looking forward to watching it with you!

Above Average Dave

Will you be opening more packages soon Cassie? I was thinking of posting you a few packets of Cadbury Mini Eggs- the new orange flavoured eggs. I don't think they're available in USA or Canada, they were introduced in the UK last year

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I'm pretty sure she's skipping the original sequels and going straight into the new Apes movies. Although, I still say she should watch the Mark Wahlberg's POTA movie. I think it would make for an entertaining reaction. IMO!

Philip Alan

First, about your kid dealing with something really hard.....just pray and I am sure what you need to do will be revealed. I hope, if it's not too late, that Carly gets to watch Working Girl with you if she's never seen it. I believe Easter candy beats Valentine's 🤣 "Better Off Dead" is my recommendation for a rom-com. A very young John Cusack and one of my favorite movies for pure enjoyment.

Joel Wayne

No mention of the SPIN.

David Patterson

Face Off!! I want u to do face off so bad!!!!

Blake Binky

Any plans to watch Fallout? Like The Last of Us, it's one of the few video game to film adaptations that's actually good. And you don't have to have experienced the game to understand.

Soleya

i have actually seen that one! One of the only Mel G movies i had seen before the channel!

Cassie

WORKING GIRL! Very %&@#ing cool...love this movie.

Steve Mercier

"I know, I know, a made up holiday by Hallmark ;)" Valentine's Day is, like, 1200 years old. "Do any of you have any fun plans for Valentines Day?" Maybe a nap? I might watch a Shondo vod- I have a few up in different tabs already.

Mike Lemon

I think and hope you’ll do the original Apes from 1968 and then jump to the last 4 movies from 2011-2024. That should more than do it, we’ve had way too many franchises stretching beyond 5 movies imo.

Shehab Dawoud

Planet of the Apes 1968 at last!! Yessss! One of the finest and most intelligent science fiction movies ever made. With Ben-Hur himself! 😏 And Working Girl! Oh my heart! It has always been one of my "five picks" should I had ever won a trivia contest, a pursuit now in my distant dreams because I am so bad at it! But boy will Cassie love, love, love this movie. The headliners are Harrison Ford and Sigourney Weaver, but don't be fooled, the real star is Melanie Griffith. Can't wait for this one. And I'm sure the Romance winner will be a memorable reaction! Edit: After actually reading the post, if Carly could watch both Apes and Working Girl, she would love both and it would boost both reactions!!

Mike LL

No spoilers here, but the final shot of that movie has always confused me. It's from the same director as The Graduate, which has a similarly perplexing final shot, so I'm guessing it was on purpose. That's all I'll say about it for now because I don't want to talk specifics, but something to think about when people watch it: what is trying to be conveyed there? That said, I absolutely love that movie and think Cassie will as well.

Stranger2Reality

What Star Trek characters get a tattoo? Leave it to Cassie to answer the big questions. 😂 Wouldn't mind you picking up a few TNG episodes. You know just for funsies. Nice line up this week.

Pickupthepieces76

OG planet of the apes lets go!

Ian

Great minds think alike! I shared that link in the full reaction. Empire of the Mind has done so many interesting film analysis on a variety of films. Your post pretty much summed up my feelings of her reaction and 7P is still “the fighting gospel” for anyone seeking wisdom about guerrilla leadership.

Rose

I have to agree with that. I hate to because I love Ridley Scott but it really let me down.

JT

Finally getting to the Apes movie, can't wait! Hail Caesar!

Joe Mallard

Working girl great pick. Great Valentine’s movie would be what women want cassie came out in 2000

Miguel Dario

Love to see your reaction to the original Planet of the Apes; and I hope you’ll go on with the sequels that follow, especially Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972).

Christopher

It’s safe to say Cassie is going to love Working Girl. I can barely remember it so it’s going to be a good trip down memory lane. If I’m especially bored this week I may watch the Planet of the Apes reaction just to understand the Spaceballs joke a little better, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Luke Godfrey

I'm surprised Valentines Day is not one of your favorite holidays.

My_Cousin_Mose

That's literally what I'm already planning for that Friday. ❤️

Bryan Fritchie

Hope all is okay with your family 🤞❤️🙏

Neil Varma

I thought it was aggressively bad. When I saw it in theaters I alternated between being angered and bored by it. I still do not understand why Ridley Scott came back to make this sequel when it's just a complete retread of a movie he already made and which contains elements which actively make the original movie worse (i.e. "Lucius is safe"). Just a blatant cash grab by everyone involved.

Stranger2Reality

YAY!! Working Girl!! I know you will love this one.

Vwlss Nvwls

Who is this Harrison Ford dude, man he pops up on here all the time. 😆

Joe

Couldn't care less about the Oscars, etc., but I do look forward to another night of the Poppies. :)

BibbitduBois

PS- the reaction with Carly to the first one was great

JT

Hi Cassie, First of all, I would like to thank you for your reaction to "Lawrence of Arabia". I know that it was a slog to get through (not to mention a complicated plot to follow) but watching you react to this magnificent masterpiece is the closest I've ever gotten to seeing it again for the first time ... if that makes any sense! Not sure! The first time I saw this film was in the cinemas way back in 1989, when they first restored and remastered it and it blew me away!! Steven Spielberg described it as "... a miracle of a film ... " and it does truly stay with you long after you've seen it. It is based, loosely, on a true story and many of the events depicted in the film are still being dealt with in the middle east today as we speak. There is an excellent youtube video, that delves into the psychological layers of the film may be of some interest to you and others, if they so desire! I myself found it extremely helpful! I'll include the link at the bottom of this message. On a more recent note, very excited for "Planet of the damn dirty Apes" as well as "The Philadelphia Story" and of course "Working Girl". Hope your little ones are feeling better. You're doing great work, keep it up! 😉 https://youtu.be/t_V-h55jJRY?feature=shared

cfb0453

True and to be fair iv never seen the OG Apes movies . So this will force me to give them a shot

Philip G.

I hope whatever is bothering your baby will work itself out. Helpless feeling at times for the parents but the best thing sometime just listening to them whenever they’re ready to share. Sometimes kids can figure it out for themselves.

Rose

it had my vote!

Cassie

i cant wait either!

Cassie

Just because we have to suffer through the original apes doesn't mean you should make Carly suffer as well 😂

Andrew Ramos

what. a. ride.

Cassie

you should change it so that every valentines you buy yourself a fancy steak dinner so then it becomes fancy steak dinner day instead and it would be something to look forward to haha

Cassie

Finally saw Gladiator 2. Gotta say it didn’t do anything for me. It’s an unfair comparison against one of my favorite all time movies though. But I am curious about what others thought about it.

JT

bhahaha one mans trash is anothers treasure

Cassie

Carly Simon!

Rick Rodriguez

Nothing from this century 😮‍💨

Philip G.

I hate Valentine's Day. That's my birthday so whether I'm single or in a relationship, it seems like I always lose. 🤣

Bryan Fritchie

Working Girl is going to be a fun watch

Allen Bond

Cant wait for face off!!

Andrew Heller

Working Girl 👍

Omar

Def looking forward to Working Girl POTA

Rose

Ooooomg Working Girl! I have been dying for you to watch that forever! Amazing, gonna make my week!

Jenny_M
