Hey guys, whats crack a lackin? Anyone else been hit by the January blues? It's cold and dark. I'm trying to reframe it that as "cozy" and hunker down and eat lots of banana bread ha, but January is still just a little blah. Although you know what cold and dark days are great for? Watching a movie! Have you watched anything good lately? I finally watched Wicked with my kids and it was pretty fun and beautiful to look at, both the leads also had incredible voices! I finished Slow Horses (tv show on Apple) and loved, started Severeance to try again because want to feel like im in a club, but I need a new off-channel TV show? Any suggestions?

This week on the channel we have our Poll winners! Although American Psycho tied percentage wise with True Grit, when we downloaded the results, AP won by 3 votes! BBBUUUTTTT when we downloaded the votes for Lawrence of Arabia vs. Face Off, they had the exact same number of votes haha 1503 votes each! So I guess the only fair thing is to watch both! I'll watch Face/Off next week along with Gladiator 2 and a surprise one!

I hope you all have an excellent week, still keeping those affected by the fires in my prayers along with any of you that are struggling with something.

Ps:

Next Monday the 27th will be our Extra Butter Live!

Our newest podcast episode on Patreon! Should be up on YT shortly (carly had an announcement) ❤️

Comments

Late to the party here, but ... worth noting that the creator of My So Called Life, Winnie Holzman, also wrote a moderately popular musical called Wicked and it's recent movie adaption.

Ian Tonge

oh no. hope you get at least a little sunshine. it's not all bbq weather here. it rained here all xmas and new years holidays. and it only got hot the week we went back to work. typical kiwi summer.🤭

Ignis Rændl

top 5 movie's are ripper revereled the one and only ivan moonlight piranha 3d the spiderwick chronicles winner movie's

David

Do think it's worth it to stick with it. Agree that some episodes are a bit boring. But it's the kind of 'boring' I really enjoy. Like Lost in Translation, or Alexander Payne movies. Like a slow burn vibe. The music really pulls me in too.

Chris Thom

One month - 12 movies is more than enough for me 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Björn Karlsson

The "My So-Called Life" (TV Series 1994–1995) is excellent. --The lead role is a young Claire Danes who I am a fan of. --A young Jared Leto (Jordan Catalano) is also good.

Clay F

I saw it on re-runs as a kid and couldn’t forget Phoebe Cates’ delivery of “Which one of you…”. The was a big deal. Still one of greatest lines and cliffhanger in television history.

Rose

At the beginning of MSCL’s theme you always hear: “Go. Now. Go.” That was inspired from Rayanne’s first line spoken in the Pilot episode. And - Forever Team Pacey! 🤍 those 90s tv show intros: BH 90210 / Friends / MSCL / Dawson’s Creek / Felicity. That was a great decade.

Rose

Cool Hand Luke ftw

V M

I remember watching “Lace” when it came out and about 15 years ago rediscovered it on an obscure channel

Darren Harrison

We need a Paul Newman poll. For McQueen, I would just recommend she watch "Bullitt".

Joe

I see it now! Thanks!

Carol Rocha

Is she watching FACE/OFF?? If so, when? I guess I missed the announcement.

Carol Rocha

I’d go with The Hitcher or The Time Machine, but that’s just me. Cool Hand Luke is a good choice too..

Richard Maurer

Uh oh. Doesn't look like this 'Upcoming' is getting posted on YouTube. Wonder if that's a sign.

Chris Thom

And to once and for all lay my cards fully on the table, here's the 10 films I'd choose if I could literally choose no others. 1) Cool Hand Luke (1967) - Paul Newman 2) The Cincinnati Kid (1965) - Steve McQueen 3) Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (1998) - Jason Statham 4) The Hitcher (1986) - Rutger Hauer 5) The Sons of Katie Elder (1965) - John Wayne 6) The Time Machine (1960) - Rod Taylor 7) The Champ (1979) - Jon Voight 8) Heartbreak Ridge (1986) - Clint Eastwood 9) The Full Monty (1997) - Robert Carlyle 10) Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) - Marilyn Monroe

Clarence Newman

There is going to be a lot of uncomfortable "OoooooooooKay"

Dazman

I don't understand why people voted it. Are they under the impression that Cassie likes explicit violence, sex, bad language and nudity?

Dazman

Doesn't matter, Richard. She engages with characters very quickly if they're personable, and most of the characters in CR qualify. Also worth noting that I too have 100 films (maybe 50) ahead of Cannonball Run on my list. It just happens to be one of the bees in my bonnet right now. In other news, this is a very happy day for me. After many months of trench warfare, Mike has just admitted that his resistance to more Star Trek on the channel is unreasonable. Cassie!!

Clarence Newman

"Don't touch the watch."

Stranger2Reality

Yes! The Hustler is great, as is its sequel, The Color of Money, with Paul Newman (of course) and Cassie's guy Tom Cruise.

Stranger2Reality

That cast was amazing. Gotta look up the theme song. I'm sure it'll come right back. Right now I can hear one in my head, but I think it's from Dawson's Creek.

Chris Thom

"Mike's a reasonable man" Objection. Facts not in evidence.

Mike Lemon

She might remember Burt. And to be honest I forgot Roger Moore was in it - she might remember him too. So Two (maybe) out of how many? Just so you know, I don’t hate CR, in fact I feel a bit of nostalgia for it from my teenage years. But I can easily think of a hundred films (at least) I’d use my pick for before CR.

Richard Maurer

Yes, I was gutted it got cancelled after one season (many fans are still mad). Co-exec producer Edward Zwick fought so hard to keep the show alive. He knew that MSCL was the only show that ever gave teenage girls a voice - but Claire Danes wanted to move on and do movies so MSCL was done. The cast and writing was incredible. Whenever I hear the opening theme song I wanna cry. It was one of the best shows ever created. A PiB reaction to MSCL would be so much fun!

Rose

She can always turn it off and watch something else if it's not for her.

Chris Thom

That could be a fun, nostalgic, one and done. Pretty iconic for it's short span. Wasn't that only on for one season?

Chris Thom

It's my Pick-a-flick this month, Joe. I'll change my pick every month though. Last month was The Champ. As for Cassie not knowing the star-studded cast in Cannonball Run....that's mostly true, I think. She would recognise Burt from Smokey & The Bandit and definitely Roger Moore from Bond, but the rest? She'd end up loving Dom DeLuise though - and it would be a good intro into Jackie Chan movies.

Clarence Newman

I think she would watch Cannonball Run and say”Am I supposed to know these people?”.

Richard Maurer

@Clarence, I think she would enjoy Cannonball Run. Did you submit it as your PaF? That's the only chance I think.

Joe

By the way, my pushing of Cannonball Run may seem frivolous, but it is based on something solid. I'm a Burt Reynolds fan, so I like a lot of his movies, but that doesn't mean I think Cassie would like them. I was delighted when I heard she was going to watch Smokey and the Bandit a while ago, but I didn't expect her to love it because I thought she'd find it silly. Turns out she had a whale of a time and enjoyed every minute, and that is why I'm pushing Cannonball Run now. It's exactly the same kind of fun, good-ol'-boy humour and I'm pretty sure she'll love it.

Clarence Newman

I'm realistic in what Cassie is going to watch. The films I suggest here in the comments are mainstream films and were once popular, maybe these can get on a poll. I keep a list of some of my older, obscure favorites for possible PaF submissions.

Joe

Wisdom you speak, therefore I add The McMartin Trial to Cassie's "Before We Let You Go" list and Mike is freed from filibustering. However, he slandered poor Ringo and thus owes me the Star Trek: Voyager series at least. Mike's a reasonable man so I'm sure he'll agree.

Clarence Newman

That’s a lot of words man. I can’t read that many sentences strung together;-)

Richard Maurer

@ Clarence - we don’t have to agree with everything our fellow patrons say to support their movie picks. God knows that I don’t agree with half the non-movie related nonsense that comes from people here but can still agree with them about movies or just try to help them get a movie they want watched . I mean there’s a certain C-titled movie about ancient celebrities driving cars fast that you want Cassie to watch for some reason, and I hope that happens for you, even if I don’t give a damn about that movie.

Richard Maurer

I'm stuck in the middle, Ignis. I live in the south of England so we get crap summers and no snow. 😒

Clarence Newman

Has anyone noticed how different the tone of posts/suggestions is when it's our lady subscribers talking? As much as we love Cassie, us guys often can't resist pulling her pigtails in the playground. It's what we do. With posts like this one, I find myself thinking, "Well, I've never heard of any of those, but if it's coming from a woman, Cassie will probably like them."

Clarence Newman

@Joe, 3,300 patrons at $8 each would be $316k annually ''Patreon takes between 5% and 12% of a creator's earnings, plus payment processing fees. The percentage depends on the creator's platform plan'' I suppose many could be on yearly plans with a discount & lower tiers, so I'll revise down closer to $350k

Milton William Burray

I preferr the world where she a lot more like hugh jackman playing wolverine till he is 90...except in my version she is doing deadlines while insulting my dad while eating popcorn and watching movies...I doubt there is anything to look into there...but honestly, however long we get is more than we deserve already, she will never be shamed by me for stopping, she is never obligated... and her team is a solid content creapting unit in my opinion and it has been a blessing watch this channel grow and getting to support it. I believe this thing is just getting started...I also really just like making popcorn and making movies...total win from where I sit...

Sean Kay

Downshift that aditude walter. Not everything is about vietnam man.... I still preferr women but if that ever changes I'll still have to call u 2nd and break my dad's heart first and then yours...on a serious note why can't we all just love love and love love movies without the knives coming out. Let's tie the room together man.

Sean Kay

Richard - I would be perfectly happy to include The McMartin Trial, but Mike owes me a rousing filibuster on why Cassie should watch more Star Trek first. Oh and he just said The Beatles were crap too. I nearly spat my Ribena out.

Clarence Newman

Very true 2-Can.. gang violence was never depicted on screen like that before. Yet the music and dancing pushed the story in a unique way. Also Michael Jackson was clearly obsessed with WSS. “Beat It” / “Bad” / “The Way You Make Me Feel” - most ppl think that MJ’s music vids were original but seeing WSS - you knew he was a huge fan.

Rose

C&C - if you’ve never seen the 90s classic “My-So Called Life,” then definitely watch it! Jordan Catalano - he’s so beautiful it hurts to look at him. The Angela Chase musings were so relatable. You guys may even enjoy “Lace” (1984), which was based on the late Shirley Conran’s 1982 novel of the same name. The theme song is actually very beautiful.

Rose

ah you northern hemisphererians and your Christmassy winter wonderlands 🤭 it's all barefeet, beers, n' barbecues down south, mate🍺😝👍 just wanted to recommend tv series 'BrainDead' from cbs. 1 season. 13 episodes. u.s political satire with a scifi twist. warning; You might think... it's crazy🤭 also if you haven't watched British Comedy 'Blackadder' i also recommend that!! 4 seasons. 6 episodes per. but each season is in its own time period so there is no inter-season plot lines etc, beyond the main characters are descendants.

Ignis Rændl

For All Mankind also

DAVID COSTELLO

You are a full on shite talker Clarence

Richard Maurer

Mill Burray, we have to make some assumptions, but from the numbers I ran, it's half your estimate before taxes. Fun to speculate, lol.

Joe

As a kid in the 60’s-70’s, that movie was considered “dangerous” and parents were encouraged to address the violence and the use of chains and knives in the rumble, let alone the single pistol. Then in 80’s version, the rumble was ended by a single drive-by by Nino Brown and the Cash Money Brothers (meaning I wouldn’t mind reactions to New Jack City and Dead Presidents - I’m guessing she hasn’t seen Boyz N The Hood either).

2-Can

She should react to Liar Liar if she’s never seen it, absolutely hilarious

Robert Lemond

Agreed.

Michael Tuffin

Cassie deciding she's had enough?!?!?! Tying this in to my TV show recommendation, I refer you to the first minute of Coupling: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpduBS_kNPQ

Happy Hanukkah

A new off-channel TV show? How about the BBC sitcom Coupling? Four seasons, 28 episodes. Often described as: "Like Friends, but funny." :-) Warning: occasional raunchy humor. NOT to be confused with the short-lived American attempt at a remake! I believe someone might have even previously recommended it. :-P

Happy Hanukkah

@ Joe, Hard to be more accurate without knowing the tier breakdown of paid members, or what percentage Patreon charge, but I think that's the ballpark number combined from this site, a million YT views a month, and the odd sponsorship here and there. All before tax and overheads of course

Milton William Burray

Cassie is watching all three of the poll winners very late this week indeed, either that are AP put her down for the count, LOL.

Joe

Shame on all the sadistic people who voted for "American Psycho". Cassie will not get the "satire" and will hate this movie. The people who voted for it just want to see her uncomfortable and that is sadistic.

Matt Jamison

American Psycho is a movie that you're going to look away from multiple times. You tend to get uncomfortable with sex scenes. This is closest to Silence of the Lambs. The creepyness factor.

Jimmy Reyes

She may have seen it with her kids

Cole Jennett

She needs to watch Ghandi and The Last Emperor too

Geoff S.

Seconded, fourthed, twentiethed!

Clarence Newman

THE HUSTLER!!!!!! I found most of the amazing movies from yesteryear I love on Turner Classic Movies, including the aforementioned. I want to get Cassie a subscription :P

V M

Honestly I can't remember the movie, just that it was considered a cool movie back when it came out.

Scott Macaulay

I've seen the 1985 North & South miniseries, it was pretty good.

V M

Truman Show was pretty good

V M

Just think about the day when Cassie decides she’s had enough of this reaction gig.

Richard Maurer

It's been three days since Cassie posted a new reaction. How dare she have a life.

Clarence Newman

Chris. You may jest, but there are literally scenes where they chase the other gang members away by thrusting jazz hands at them and saying "Bah!"

Clarence Newman

JPB shhhh! It’s sci-fi, not Horror!

Richard Maurer

@Chris - ikr! When my dad first saw this during its initial release in theaters the audience had never seen anything like it before. It’s still one of his favorite musicals. The title sequence is one of the best openings - and I love the end credits - “SB + EB” = Saul & Elaine Bass

Rose

Yeah I'm not sure either. Do think she'll get a kick out of baby Tom Cruise though.

Chris Thom

Aww it IS a classic. But a musical is a musical. In a musical they meet at dawn and fight with jazz hands.

Chris Thom

Some Jim Carrey would definitely be fun. Carly said she never saw The Truman Show.

Chris Thom

Hoping it gets a reaction but my guess is that, at best, you’ll have to wait until Halloween season. Even then, it’ll probably go on another poll first. If/when it does happen, I’d love it if she watched the original then the 78 remake. Both are fantastic.

Just Plain Bob

Cassie & Carly - for your drama/romantic cravings: - “North and South” (1985) miniseries with a stacked cast starring Patrick Swayze, James Read, Kristie Alley, David Carradine … and several Special Guest stars including James Stewart, Gene Kelly, Johnny Cash, Jean Simmons, Peter O’Tool among others.. The series is based on John Jakes’ Civil War trilogy of the same name about two best friends and their families that are placed on opposite sides of the war. - “North & South” (2004) miniseries starring Daniela Denby-Ashe and Richard Armitage. This was Richard Armitage in his first leading role - who claimed to fame as Thorin Oakenshield in “The Hobbit” & John Porter in the action/military thriller “Strike Back” (2010). He was also in “Captain America: First Avenger” as Heinz Kruger. This series is excellent and based on Elizabeth Gaskell’s 1855 Victorian novel of the same name. Similar to “Pride & Prejudice” - I love Daniela Denby-Ashe and Richard Armitage - they have wonderful chemistry. Love, love this one so much! - “Sanditon” (2019) Season 1 with Theo James. Hmm.. so unfinished just like Jane Austen’s novel and not surprising that the series has been cancelled after three seasons. Season 1 is still worth watching. I thought Theo James and Rose Williams made a striking pair.

Rose

The original is better. Sutherland is a smug screen presence, can't stand him

Milton William Burray

Quality cinema right there

Milton William Burray

"It's supposed to be funny." As in Shan's reaction (11 seconds): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYMxswrYi5c&t=505s

Happy Hanukkah

Clarence, that hair was a choice for sure, LOL. Back on the LIVE when she promised to watch it, she perked up seeing that Nimoy and Goldblum are in the cast. As a tribute she was going to react to a Sutherland film, now's her chance to do that.

Joe

Here I was giving you chance to mention the title again.

Richard Maurer

I'm on board with that. Cassie needs to witness Sutherland's poodle perm/pornstache combo.

Clarence Newman

Btw has she seen the sonic hedgehog trilogy?? She needs to react to those with her sister since she’s a Jim Carrey fan. That’s my pick a flick of 2025

Rene G.

All great movies,I watched Bunnytail's 1st rate Spartacus reaction....

Celeste McAllister

"Footloose, cut loose". Men dancing in movies just ain't right people, LOL.

Joe

Okay, needing to get "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1978) on the schedule. Promises were made, LOL. Give me some likes guys.

Joe

Mentioning what again? I’ve already forgotten what we were talking about.

Richard Maurer

Rolex wouldn’t allow their brand to be mentioned by name in the movie American Psycho, despite it being referred to many times by name in the predecessor book.

N M

I predict Cassie will just be horrified watching AP, it won't let her breathe long enough to "appreciate" the satire and whatever. It's gonna mess her up.

Joe

"Spartacus" came out in 1960, BTW ("Lolita" came out in '62)... and I believe bunnytailsREACTS just recently became the first-ever channel to react to it. "Barry Lyndon" is my all-time favorite costume drama (followed by Polanski's "Tess"), so I hope someone else reacts to it eventually (I believe only James Vs Cinema has so far).

Byrd N. Hand

The Queen of the Desert moniker comes at the very end and given by two brothers of rank who later became kings of two kingdoms perhaps with her influence. It is based on a true story. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1837636/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3_tt_2_nm_6_in_0_q_queen%2520of%2520the%2520desert

shed469

If Cassie can connect with the story and characters quickly, LoA may not feel like a 3 hour 47 min movie. It not, this puppy is going to put a hurting on her, LOL.

Joe

Face Off is once in a lifetime view and for Cassie probably zero in a lifetime.

shed469

I still prefer "Revolutions" over "Reloaded." There was just too much kung fu crap in the latter for my tastes. Sorry, I'm just not that big on martial arts. 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

See that? You can't write a post without mentioning it. Cassie! The people have spoken!

Clarence Newman

Well, they did cut the scene where Rita Moreno's guts get splattered all over the screen.

TheSingulatarian

I only know of one person who actually thinks of Cannonball Run as an all-time great, and that person isn’t me.

Richard Maurer

She said she’s never watching The Exorcist If she ever chose to watch The Omen, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Rosemary’s Baby I’d be shocked but I’m definitely not making her

Robert Lemond

Also even tho it’s not Nic Cage, we also have to hit Travoltas version of “so bad it’s good” for that era, Broken Arrow.

Omar

"you're gonna take his face... off?" "YES, FACE...OFF!"

Rene G.

I feel the only films that *might* dislodge "The Shining" as the scariest movie Cassie has ever seen would be either "The Exorcist" or the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (maybe the original "Suspiria" as well). But she continues to refuse to attempt to find out. 🤷‍♂️ I usually don't expect Cassie to like the more intense titles she watches (but if she does, it's a pleasant surprise); it's more just the idea of such a wholesome individual watching a decidedly un-wholesome movie that makes the whole experience rather entertaining. 😏

Byrd N. Hand

I donno 😄 Just a random film that ended last in a poll 😁😁

Björn Karlsson

At the very least, she should do a Halloween special where she watches "Hush". One of the great tv "horror" episodes.

Clarence Newman

I always pay attention, Richard. I particularly like the posts where you relentlessly recommend The Cannonball Run as an all-time great.

Clarence Newman

Richard, I totally agree. Bateman is absolutely horrible to everyone in that movie, men and women. He hates women, but that's because he hates everyone, even himself. The most infamous scene in that movie, the Huey Lewis scene, doesn't have any women in it. I will say that judging by how much discussion there is for this movie, even before Cassie has watched it, is a strong argument for how culturaly relevant it is, and why it's probably good that she's going to watch it.

Stranger2Reality

Jeri Ryan's personality and acting chops are perfectly illustrated by the fact that she isn't dressed to look hot in Picard but is still one of the best things in it.

Clarence Newman

Sometimes that's a good thing, V. I don't half talk some shite.

Clarence Newman

See, now you're forgetting the hardcore punch-up Kenickie had with the Scorpions gang leader on the dancefloor in Grease. There were bad intentions there for a second or two.

Clarence Newman

Yesh, you're not gonna see real gang fights in it or anything. It's a musical.

V M

What it means is that after Face/Off, Cassie will be fully prepped for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent!

Mike LL

That's what I've heard, V, and I'm aware it was the number one box office hit of the year. But MAN it's corny! More people on here have said it's great, so I'm happy to defer. I think my problem is I've seen a lot of hardcore gang movies in my time and then I saw this. Each to their own, I guess.

Clarence Newman

Clay, I’ve watched a few Doc’s on Voyager and it was a case of the studio saying let’s introduce a “hot girl” to boost ratings. It did work, but what they also got was a really good actress and because of her looks probably goes under the radar for her acting ability, which I think is top notch. I think all Trekkies know that there was tension on set between Kate and Jeri, but I think it probably added to the tension and excellent scenes with Janeway and Seven. I would argue she went on to be as iconic in Star Trek as Data.

Mark White

The 1961 version? It was a great movie.

V M

Cannonball Run?

Clarence Newman

Just a random bit of feedback here. I decided to watch "West Side Story" last weekend, because I've never seen it and it's supposed to be another of the classics. What the everloving heck did I just watch??? I want to see a fight between a combined Sharks/Jets gang and Marlo Stanfield's crew from The Wire. Now THAT would be epic!

Clarence Newman

I do remember Lawrence of A as an epic movie, but sometimes, the older an epic gets, the more interminable it is to watch, mainly I think due to old-time pacing and lack of popcorn CGI. (Our fault, not theirs.) I remember reading about a Paul Newman movie called "Exodus" (1960), which is an "epic" about the founding of Israel. It's 208 minutes long! For the highly-publicized premiere, Director/Producer Otto Preminger invited some notable and high-profile Jewish celebrities, including comedian Mort Sahl. As the movie hit the 3 hour mark, with 28 minutes still to go, Sahl stood up, turned to Preminger and loudly exclaimed, "Otto! Let my people go!" Yep, sometimes epics can be absorbing to the point of wanting extended cuts so it never ends (Lord of the Rings, anyone?) Exodus isn't one of those movies. I hope for Cassie's sake that Lawrence isn't either.

Clarence Newman

Idk

V M

Fetch will never be a thing, Chris

Richard Maurer

@ Chris - I have seen some of her reactions. She’s not bad, but I prefer Kat Watches Horror Movies, which brings me to @ Mark - I literally mentioned Kat 2 posts up from your post. Why do I write all these excellent posts if no one is going to read them? ;-)

Richard Maurer

The violence against women argument against AP in particular, and horror movies in general falls into the category of “oh no! The bad guy in this movie does bad things!” It always amuses me when people are shocked that an evil person/entity does evil things, I mean you do realize that real life serial killers often target women exclusively right? It’s almost like they don’t care how their. actions are perceived.

Richard Maurer

Squid Game is addictive. Hopefully she’ll do it and in original Korean with the English subs.

Rose

I think the movie as well is pure satire. I don't think of it as a slasher film or horror at all. There's absolutely nothing scary about that movie for me, but I've seen a couple people in these comments say they thought it was terrifying and I'm totally confused. I hope Cassie doesn't just view it as a gratuitous slasher movie or get scared by it. It's supposed to be funny, even if it's dark and definitely not typical humor.

Stranger2Reality

I agree Richard. The 1931 Dracula and HoD are unrelated.

V M

Maybe shell listen to some of the posts and watch it in the theater room. *shrug*

V M

I liked the first 2 matrixes. (matrices?) Didnt like the 3rd that much, didnt even watch the fourth.

V M

With peoples shrinking attention spans, i dont think the lengthy posts get read much:P

V M

My pick a flick choice this month is Kubrick's fourth favorite movie of all time. Just saying :P

V M

I remember Mad Love

Clay F

My son has recommended Barry Lyndon. On my watchlist.

Clay F

I think she watches most movies on a TV

Clay F

We watched Voyager as it aired, and remember criticism that Seven of Nine with her 'provocative' body suit was a ploy to boost ratings.

Clay F

Bummer. I think it would've made for a good reaction but understand if the content is too much.

dollop

+1 for The Expanse. Takes time to absorb the information the frist few episodes but is captivating with interesting storylines and good acting.

Clay F

Good reminder.

Clay F

Leaving Las Vegas (1995) is awesome. Cage won Best Actor Oscar.

Clay F

It's like an existential kind of horror. Apathy, greed, privilege, narcissism, all that. Can't say it's a super fun watch. But it's fascinating. Movies on NPD or psychopathy are interesting because there are people that are really like that. And the fact that whole societies can slip into it when they have easy scapegoats or something else to blame. To be honest this movie feels kind of appropriate at this moment in time. Maybe more than it was in the 90's or 2000.

Chris Thom

Abbott Elementary is good.

Clay F

It gets said very, very rarely on this channel. Or anywhere really, anymore. Always makes me take notice.

Chris Thom

I’m fine now. Last night was the worst night for the week. I live in the same state as Katie Jackson so ask her too lol.

Anthony Carlson

She never brought it up on here. Just that poll on YouTube.

Chris Thom

Since you enjoy horror films so much, have you ever checked out the channel Kat Watches Horror Movies? It's a really fun channel with a wide variety of films.

Mark Vaderr

She did. That's why I mentioned it.

Stick Figure Studios

Didn't she react to Bridge on the River Kwaii? Vaguely remember her watching an old military bridge movie.

Chris Thom

Fetch E double hockey sticks. Or something.

Chris Thom

Don't know if you've seen She's Scared, but she's one hundred percent devoted to horror on the channel.

Chris Thom

Forgot Mad Love existed until Drew had Chris O' Do on her show last year. Kind of a cute reunion if you haven't seen it.

Chris Thom

Queen of the Desert is her moniker from Australia or something? Or that was a show?

Chris Thom

Just watched Matrix 4 again last night. It actually gets a bit better with time. But yeah I'm super disappointed she never had the desire to finish that. Matrix Revolutions was one of relatively few movies I just HAD to see the minute it came out. I don't get that excited about movies very often.

Chris Thom

Forgot Leaving Las Vegas...the ultimate feel-good Nic Cage action movie. (Lol)

Chris Thom

She really didn't seem to enjoy Full Metal Jacket too much. I would pair that with CO.

Chris Thom

And Bret Easton Ellis is a very good writer. As long as the character is understood as a literary device and not a three dimensional person. Its a commentary on privilage. Viewed in the horror genre its not great IMHO.

Nicholas Coy

Did anything ever come out from the Squid Game poll on YT? For off the channel, I recommend Abbott Elementary. It's a funny, light-hearted show with sprinkles of love mixed in. Filmed in the style of The Office/Parks and Rec. Carly would love it too since she mentioned she used to teach! And a special thank you to the volunteer firefighters from Canada, Mexico, and incarcerated youth helping put out the fires in LA🫂

dollop

The heck you say!

Richard Maurer

I actually think Kat watches Horror Movies might watch HoD at some point. I’ve pushed for it in her comments section a number of times and got a good amount of support from the patrons, except for the inevitable and annoying “she needs to see the Lugosi version first” comments. No she doesn’t, she really doesn’t.

Richard Maurer

You are correct sir. That being said I will take what I can get in the meantime. Seeing any reactor watch HoD (or The Final Programme) would be something at least. As in more than the nothing that exists for reactions to these two movies.

Richard Maurer

Risky Business is a fantastic movie... but Lawrence of Arabia is one of the best, most epic movies of all time. It was my dad's favorite movie, so I'm glad for the opportunity to watch it again!

Ben Schwartz

Takes place in 1876. Just a great show that submerges you into a world that was part of America at one time. Also, really interesting structure and characters. There’s a point about 2 to 3 episodes in where I realized one of the significant antagonists, when he's speaks at length, does so in iambic-pentameter generously laced with cuss words that are delivered in meter and with the most Shakespearean phrasing; that is, if Shakespeare rode cattle herd with hard men and panned the creeks for shiny metal in his spare time. The character who holds forth, schemes, pontificates and tirades, all in this meter is Al Swearengen, a pure sociopath. He’s played masterfully by Ian McShane, who uses just a hint of his Manchester accent within his frontier accent. His character and the protagonist, Seth Bullock, pre-Justified Timothy Olyphant, are based on real Deadwood major citizens. As are Calamity Jane, Sol Star, Wild Bill Hickock and a host of others. True frontier grit, grift, crime punishment working their way through get-rick quick dreamers, families staking farm and merchant claims and others. The value of goods, food, shelter. services, liquor and a person’s life waxes and wanes with the amount of gold being pulled from the Black Hills, and how much of it a person has. Worth your time.

Severance 2 started off strong so far. But they're only releasing one at a time. Pissing me off a bit after making us wait three years after that cliffhanger.

Chris Thom

Totally forgot about that.

Chris Thom

Oh geez. Hope you have a good heater or fireplace.

Chris Thom

No they found a Mexican-American actor who brings his own riff to the character, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. You might recognize some of the supporting cast, particularly Neve Campbell and Elliott Gould.

Alex Ch

Oh right I forgot about that one. Saw the trailer. Looked interesting.

Chris Thom

Who is the star of the show? Is it Matthew M.?

Chris Thom

Never seen it but Deadwood is still really highly ranked with critics. As in it's in a lot of all-time top ten lists.

Chris Thom

I enjoyed the show, but did stop halfway through season 2. I just stopped believing they would tie up all the loose ends and was getting frustrated.

Chris Thom

But is she ready for the bit of old ultra viiolence from Clockwork Orange (directed by Kubrick)??

Rene G.

People who like to bring up sexism cards are the real incels here.

Rene G.

god, I can't stand the gender card to deflect criticism. He forgot the part where he killed the homeless guy telling him to get a job and kicking his dog.. WTF

Rene G.

Think she'll like Risky Business?

Chris Thom

My reaction to upcoming: "Oh cool" , "Oh no", "Oh boy"

Scott Macaulay

People always bring up the misogyny of it. But it's interesting that it was actually a woman that directed the movie.

Chris Thom

The Substance will probably break her beauty standards. :p

Rene G.

All Creatures Great and Small is also great

DAVID COSTELLO

American Psycho is a novel that has to be viewed as satire. As a slasher flick its just gratuitous violence towards women. I honestly don't think either one of you will enjoy that one.

Nicholas Coy

line from Risky Business. "What The Fuck!" Then people changed it to what Cassie would say.

Philip Alan

I think I speak for Richard (please correct if I'm wrong), but wishing Cassie to react to Dracula is completely different from wanting to see TBR react to it. Apples/Oranges. And I'm a patron of theirs.

Philip Alan

I think that completes the major 90’s Nic Cage action films, right? They’ve done The Rock, Con Air. Am I missing any?

Omar

What film would that be Bjorn? ;-)

Richard Maurer

Agree Richard.

V M

I've never seen LoA either.

V M

lol bjorn

V M

@Clarence- I highly recommend you do. It is one of the better book adaptations I have seen, a high 7/low 8 out of 10.

Mike Lemon

Ha Ha, that explains a lot!!

Mike LL

:P

V M

You got that right!

Mike LL

It a shame you stopped there, because midway thru S3 they really changed up the format and it became excellent again.

Bill McTague

....or last placed film 😆

Björn Karlsson

I realize I may be part of a minority of a few… or one, but I will always suggest watching a film with the least amount of distractions. Dark and Silent room with Big Screen and Surround Sound. I expect Cassie to watch films the way she wants to watch films too. If it doesn’t bother her to have a light on in the room or near her face so that people can see her all the time, then she should do it if she wants. I know she doesn’t care about films the way I do or others do. I’m for recreating the theatrical experience as much as I can, when I watch a film, and it bugs me a little to see Cassie watch all these films the way she does, when she has the capabilities to get real close to the original theatrical showing. But, like I said, I don’t think that matters to her all that much. She was watching films on her laptop when she started, and now that she has a Theatre room, she doesn’t use it that much. But man, I’d give anything to go back and watch All of the Pre 2000s films on a Big Screen with Surround Sound… for the First Time. I get the point of watching a reaction is to see and hear the person reacting. But, me personally, I don’t need to constantly see Cassie. I’m watching the film mostly and glancing down at my phone every now and then, to see how she’s reacting. If the screen is black, then it’s supposed to be dark anyways, and there’s nothing to react to. A dark screen in a room with the lights on is not the same as a dark screen in a room with the lights off. You really feel the darkness in a dark room rather than just seeing darkness. The very first scene in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, when the credits were popping up on screen, each one giving enough light to see Cassie. The music getting louder and louder, in the darkness. Cassie feeling what you’re supposed to feel, in the darkness. Then all of a sudden the picture cuts to light, the music hits, Cassie jumps, and We see her reaction. She felt the moment. If she had been watching that in a lighted room, I’m sure she would have had a reaction as well, but not the same or as good of one as she had in the dark room. I really thought there was plenty of light on Cassie from the TV when she watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Only if the screen is completely black, do you lose visuals. That’s a small price to pay in my opinion for Cassie to be able to view a film the way it was intended. It still bugs me that she has to watch every film with Ear Buds, even in the Theatre room. Maybe one day there will be a fix for that. The way It works in my head is, if Cassie was in the same room as me watching a film that I wanted to show her, the room would be dark and I would be watching the TV 99% of the time, and listening to Cassie, if she had anything to say or ask, and only looking at her then, in the darkness, lighted by only the TV. That’s how I’ve always approached every reaction, even the ones in a room with the lights on. If I was in a lighted room watching a film with Cassie that I wanted to show her… I would not be staring at her the whole time. No Offense to Anyone, but for me, staring at Cassie for long stretches of time feels a little weird. (-: Just Sayin’ ;-)

Larry Darrell

Seriously doubt that.

Celeste McAllister

I doubt that

Richard Maurer

Didn't think she would but I just left a little reminder

David Freese

Agreed.

Stick Figure Studios

If your texts are too big, Sean, I've got no chance! 😆

Clarence Newman

Ok that’s funny

Omar

In a world of younger people.

Chris Thom

I don't think I watched the original Shogun, and I can only think it was because of a prejudice against Richard Chamberlain. If so, it could only have come from The Towering Inferno.

Clarence Newman

Was just picturing Cassie surprise announcing that from this moment forth the channel will be completely devoted to Swedish cinema. That would be a trip.

Chris Thom

No way Cassie's missing that, Dave.

Clarence Newman

Yeah it does! It focuses a bit on his childhood, and than some from every era of his career. The doc opens with shots of Lawrence of Arabia and he talks about wanting to be a director, but thinking he could never match the grandeur of that film.

Chris Thom

Miss a wood-burning fireplace so much.

Chris Thom

She did a poll of 1-50, 50-100, and 100-150 of the top requested movies on the channel. Risky Business was 50-100.

Chris Thom

I've been wanting to see Six Feet Under for so long. Used to use that opening theme quite a bit in Film Editing class. Great Thomas Newman theme.

Chris Thom

I am now officially committed to seconding that suggestion. So I second that suggestion.

Chris Thom

After American Psycho, Cassie is going to have to return some videotapes It might replace The Shining as her Scariest Movie Ever

Robert Lemond

I think it ended in 2017. But I could totally see them bringing it back.

Chris Thom

I think the joke is that he's letting on that 'pick a flick' is a bad experience so there will be less submissions (less competition). That was my impression anyway.

Chris Thom

"Stayed very true to the book" 2024? What book did it stay true to, because it wasn't Shogun.

Mike Lemon

IDK; I think that you are right. I usually just get everything on Apple TV.

Uncle Phoenix

Lost serious annoyed the hell out of me with all the flash backs. It’s was ok for the first season to find out about the characters but after that I just found it annoying and didn’t make it passed the 1st episode of S3

Dean Holt

I don't have HBO, I hope I can find another way of watching that one day. Does the documentary cover Empire of the Sun (1987)? That film is, hands down, my favourite Spielberg film!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Same odds as everyone else....

Celeste McAllister

BARRY LYNDON, too. At least the 18th century white pancake face make-up the ladies wore scared the heck out of me, Celeste. 🤣

Above Average Dave

SHOGUN was a fantastic, and fantastic-looking, mini-series! Stayed very true to the book, which really is epic. I cannot imagine a historical fiction book of that length (nearly 1,000 pages) being published today but more's the pity. It was a massive best-seller in its day and became so again when the 1980s TV mini-series aired. Anyone with an UHD TV/home theater dealio will enjoy watching this just for the beauty and detail of the film.

Above Average Dave

"The Lighthorsemen" is about the Australian Light Horse Regiment leading up to the Battle of Beer Sheeba in 1918, which was part of the British push north to Damascus, which is going on in the background of LoA. This would be good to watch for either Australia Day or ANZAC Day.

JAKH

Lol. See what you did there. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Chris Thom

Obviously this person did not see the pick a flick video that I watched and has not kept track of the goings on here. I think she not only took time to watch the winner..but also, after realizing the initial winner picked a film she already saw, watched their alternate choice.

Michael Enos

There was a great Spielberg doc that came out in 2015. Not sure if that's the same interview. But it's on HBO if you haven't seen it yet. One of my all time favorite documentaries.

Chris Thom

The Morning Show is probably one of my top Apple shows. But so far the quality control over there has been pretty great. Pretty much every show they've aired has been worth watching.

Chris Thom

Oh yay nice to find someone that likes it. Such a cool, strange show. Really impressed by Ben Stiller's direction. Always thought of him as a comedian first, but he's way more versatile than that. Escape From Dannemora was fantastic too.

Chris Thom

The hot borg boosted the ratings,I like Jerry Ryan she's a good person.♡

Celeste McAllister

Ahh, Seven of Nine. One cannot help but love her.

Clarence Newman

Chris - Speaking as a Crocodile Dundee superfan.....I can only agree about 3. Richard. I counter-hypothesize that Cassie would've watched The Fly by now, but she's not done punishing me.

Clarence Newman

I was waiting for you to bring it up! :)

Celeste McAllister

Why

Sean Kay

You forgot Voyager, Celeste!

Clarence Newman

YAY found someone else that likes it. Three years was a long time to wait though. Especially with one of the best cliffhangers I've ever seen on a show.

Chris Thom

Expanse is a cult favorite for sure. The people that love it LOVE it. I wanted to start it, but the amount of episodes is intimidating. Also afraid it will get complicated and confusing like Star Trek.

Chris Thom

Did they bring that back with new episodes? Used to be on Showtime.

Chris Thom

PIB FLICK-A-PICK Once a month, Cassie will draw a movie from the same submissions as PICK-A-FLICK and vow never to watch it. Also, after the drawing, she laughs at the person who submitted the movie for 5, no 6 minutes.

V M

Good point about An Officer and a Gentleman

Clay F

I didnt think her numbers were right.

V M

Clarence - she doesn’t like to be reminded about The Fly.

Richard Maurer

All I heard was Face/Off, so I'm happy.

Odd Thomas

So was Rocky Horror. But I doubt she’d watch any 3rd place films.

Richard Maurer

Really enjoyed Season 2 of Silo on Apple TV; and would like to recommend “Episodes” with Matt LeBlanc on Apple TV. It’s a cute British show about Hollywood. Love the whole Brits trying to fit in Hollywood, kind of like Beverly Hillbillies.

Uncle Phoenix

TWATL is a great movie. Don't know The Lighthorsemen. QOTD is a true story.

shed469

To cure the January Blues I recommend a dose of CAPTAIN RON (1992) It's a New Year's movie-tradition in my house about a Chicago family who leave the cold winter to charter a boat around the Caribbean instead

Milton William Burray

I can't see AP being well received. Not exactly full of redeemable characters, and the ending will drive her nuts with questions.

John Drake

I also recommend LOST as an off channel tv show. Alot of "shipping" between the main leads, Jack, Kate & Sawyer. 6 seasons and very satisfying if you lean into the characters and emotion vs the lore / mythology.

Bill McTague

For an off-channel TV show I would recommend "Mrs. Davis (2023)". It's a Sci-fi comedy starring a nun, and it's fantastic. A little gem that came out on HBO MAX just two years ago.

Atreyu Auryn

Stacked week, this is going to be awesome! Off-channel TV show: LOST (Season 1). Then you can guess which character a lot of fans named their dog after.

Brian's Dog

For some off-channel viewing, SILO season 2 has just premiered on Apple TV. It's a good post-apocalyptic sci-fi/drama series. While Apple TV doesn't churn out a huge volume of content, I have to say, most of what they do produce is quite good. It reminds me of Netflix's early days when their original productions were consistently high quality. If sci-fi is a go, I would also recommend checking out FOR ALL MANKIND, which explores an alternate timeline where the Soviets beat the U.S. to the Moon, and FOUNDATION, an ambitious adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s sprawling book series. Another series I've suggested before is CHUCK (2007-2012). It's a fun blend of action, spy, comedy, drama, romance, and tons of pop culture references. Cassie, if you haven’t seen it yet, I think you would really enjoy it.

Gábor Árki

There's a good 3 season show called Alex Rider (on Prime), who's a teenage spy. Good acting, good action, good story. It's based on a book series. Wish it had more seasons, but it couldn't have lasted too long...the actors can't stay teen-like forever.

Liz Painter

Crocodile Dundee 3 is more horrific than "The Fly". 😁😂🤣😆

Chris

ROME is fantastic!

Above Average Dave

Hopefully Willow is the surprise one, that was close voting too

Andrew Heller

I would say that the complements to LoA are: "The Wind And The Lion" (1975) Sean Connery *True Story* and "The Lighthorsemen" (1987) *True Story*

JAKH

Emc 😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣

Björn Karlsson

Fighter is on my list too

Sean Kay

Couldn't agree more, but she gunna watch what is voted for...and it is okay to watch once...not a exciting rewatch for me tbh...I think her seeing it will help her maybe avoid other films in future...has she seen raising Arizona or anything cage is amazing in?

Sean Kay

Oh, and how could I forget Cupid (1998), 15 episodes. A good show that time has forgotten. It would be a good time to watch it if you can find it. Internet Archive has it ( https://archive.org/details/cupid-tv-series ) but I don't know if it is anywhere else.

Mike Lemon

I'll try to not type big texts in future sorry...I will also find right place to send my selections. Love your channel and the group you have cultivated. It is appreciated. By many.

Sean Kay

And newsroom tv show if u haven't already, it'll gives all the feels, emotions, and goosebumps- the good ones...plus anything aaron sorkin is worth the time of day...also there is a matrix 3...matrix 2 sucks without matrix 3...its like matrix 1, then matrix 2 part 1 and matrix 2 part 2...not my movie pick of the month for u, but u gotta complete it at some point right??...

Sean Kay

Congrats!

Sean Kay

Carly preggers!!

Sean Kay

Here's a curveball tv series for you - Celebrity (1984). A story of three popular friends in college (all voted Most Likely To Succeed in their various areas of talent) who all go on to some form of celebrity while hiding a dark mutual secret. Michael Beck (Warriors), Ben Masters (God knows what else he's been in) and Joseph Bottoms (beats me) are the stars. A very absorbing mini-series that no one but me remembers and you will never watch, so.....glad I could help.

Clarence Newman

Hammer > Universal. IMO

Richard Maurer

Had remembered this overnight, while not here in January , Last of Us season 2 is coming so I just wanted to remind everyone about that.

David Freese

You should definitely watch Shogun (2024) off-channel, then when you want all your questions answered and want to see the actual story written by the author of the book you can watch Shogun (1980) on-channel. Some good movie related shows- Action (1999 - 13 half-hour episodes) and The Critic (1994 - 23 half-hour episodes) Some crime investigation type shows- Columbo (1971 - 70ish 1.5 hour episodes), Cadfael (1994 - 13 one hour fifteen minute episodes- set in 12th century England- star was also in Gladiator), Elementary (2012 - 6.5 full seasons, one hour each episode) To scratch your sci-fi itch- Farscape (1999- Four seasons of one hour episodes, and a movie)

Mike Lemon

She's done it again! Comes in and drops a like on every single post, skips mine, then carries on dropping likes on everything afterwards. Canadian females are cru-wel.

Clarence Newman

Should be a interesting week ahead. I’ve not seen Lawrence! I know! Disgraceful! So I’m looking forward to that. Tom again! Boy he has done a lot of movies and American psycho, all I shall say is good luck!! As for a TV series, everybody raves about “the Expanse” my brother in law thinks it’s the best thing since sliced bread! Personally I like a comedy. I don’t know if you can get “Black Adder goes forth” Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) and Hugh Laurie (House) you will laugh your socks off!! 😂 And congratulations to Carly. 🥂❤️

Mark White

Skip DS9 and go with 'Enterprise' & 'Strange New Worlds'....

Celeste McAllister

Please watch Lawerance of Arabia on the largest screen possible. You will rob yourself of its full power if you settle for a computer screen.

I LOVE SHRINKING

Cassie

I can request and watch just about any movie I want on other channels,im here to watch with Cassie & Carly, more family friendly movie polls 🎬

Celeste McAllister

It’s hard enough to contend with temps that low when you’re healthy, but you’ve probably had a rougher go of it because you’re hurt. Try letting your faucets drip slowly through the day and night. That might keep your pipes from freezing up. It may run up your water bill a little, but it may save more money by keeping your pipes from bursting. January, and winter, can never be over quick enough for me. I so need to move somewhere closer to the equator. Even the southern states were clobbered with snow yesterday.

Dan M

carly watched that and loved it!

Cassie

Same. Please watch Mad Love with Carly. Such a good 90 movie

Katie Sivak

oooh i’ve seen the longest ride, loved it, read the book too!

Cassie

"Looks like we've got some variably yahoo films coming this week" I don't see a single Yahoo Serious movie on the list.

Mike Lemon

bahaha i do suck at excel

Cassie

More "Directed by Stanley Kubrick"- 'Spartacus' 1962?... Scary but not too scary without the gross I have 'The Innocents' 1961⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Celeste McAllister

Wednesday would be good.

Richard Maurer

Now is a good time to remind everyone that The Fly lost by one vote. Just because a vote is close doesn’t mean we have watch the second place film.

Richard Maurer

Great week ahead! For TV show recommendations, you and Carly should watch Nobody Wants This on Netflix. A very cute rom-com with Adam Brody and Kristen Bell. Netflix actually gave the go-ahead for a Season 2, which is shocking, but I'm so glad. And I am also going to +1 the other recommendations for The Expanse. Some of the best "realistic" political sci-fi ever. As much as I would love to watchalong to that show with you, it is long at six seasons, so doesn't really fit in with what happens here at the moment. But it is fantastic. If Ben hasn't seen it yet either, you should definitely watch that together. In the meantime, I am looking forward to the American Psycho watchalong. Been wanting to re-watch that one for a while now!

kaiielle

You love the Hammer horrors. :)

Celeste McAllister

Don't forget 2 seasons of HBO 'Rome' it would be an editing challenge but,the views would be highly numbered....

Celeste McAllister

The business card scene in AP is my favorite.

N M

Exactly. I’m surprised, disappointed, and annoyed to see any “Don’t watch this cause we think it sucks” perspectives, when some people want it and it’s been decided. I didn’t have any interest in Star Trek anything, but I’m glad they did it because others wanted it and, ultimately, it’s money for the channel. As long as people want it and its money for the channel, why say no? Not liking something isn’t a good enough reason.

Omar

Like the LDS kid in The Holdovers

N M

And a bathroom break

N M

No they don't, anyone can view the vote counts.

Joe

I would assume they have more accurate data on their side.

Omar

The back of the 928 in Risky Business was iconic in its day. But the 911 whale tail from the 80s is my favorite.

N M

She can watch whatever she wants of course, I'm just pointing out the facts so she doesn't proceed under a falsehood. Many patrons reported the poll votes when it closed.

Joe

I subscribe to TBR Schmitt on YT. I’ll think about a Patreon account depending on the price.

Richard Maurer

All that is why I said I have hope, not that I was expecting her to do it. Still, one thing you said stands in favor of her doing it. If smaller channels can do it and make it viable, then a larger channel like Cassie’s shouldn’t have a problem. Besides some major channels (the Normies, Ashleigh Burton) have done it/are doing it.

Richard Maurer

Just let her watch both, i don't see the problem.. it was very close anyway.

Simmeland

I thought the Queen of the Desert was Priscilla! :-P

Happy Hanukkah

I'd really love it too but we've monopolised the channel with Star trek content for over a year now. Must be driving some subscribers crazy 😂

Nim

I jump back into voyager from time to time and wrote up a list of my favourite and important episodes mainly to skip the ones that appeal less to me and would you believe it I somehow left out s2e23 the thaw 😂. It's definitely going back onto the list: S1e4 – phage S1e6 – eye of the needle S1e13 – faces S1e14 – jetrel S2e1 – the 37’s S2e3 – projections S2e5 – non sequitur S2e12 – resistance S2e16 – meld S2e18 – death wish S2e19 - lifesigns S2e21 – deadlock S2e24 – tuvix S2e26 – basics part 1 S3e1 – basics part 2 S3e6 – remember S3e12 – macrocosm S3e21 – before and after S3e22 – real life S4e2 – the gift S4e7 – scientific method S4e8+9 – year of hell 1+2 S4e12 – mortal coil S4e14 – message in a bottle S4e15 - hunters S4e23 – living witness S4e25 – one S5e1 – night S5e6 – timeless S5e10 – counterpoint S5e11 – latent image S5e13 – gravity S5e14 – bliss S5e15 – dark frontier 1+2 S5e17 – course oblivion S5e21 – someone to watch over me S5e22 – 11:59 S5e26 – equinox part 1 S6e1 – equinox part 2 S6e2 – survival instinct S6e3 – barge of the dead S6e6 – riddles S6e9 – the voyager conspiracy S6e10 – pathfinder S6e12 – blink of an eye S6e23 – fury S7e2 – imperfection S7e5 – critical care S7e7 – body and soul S7e14 – the void S7e15+16 – workforce 1+2 S7e22 – homestead

Nim

Although I can't thank Cassie enough for the dedication to star trek on the channel, I also can't deny that trek has monopolised the channel content for quite a while which is unfair for those that aren't fans.

Nim

Omg American psycho is great!

Aaron

Just because a film is critically acclaimed and loved by other directors doesn't always translate to general audiences who are not film buffs. Will Cassie get engaged in the story and characters? Will she appreciate all the film-making marvels that impress a Spielberg? Will she struggle with the run-time and get bored? Stay tuned!

Joe

The Expanse is a no-brainer for off channel. The first few episodes are a slow burn, but then it's off to the races. I'd love to see you react to it, but it's too dang long, I think. And just because I can't avoid poking the bear, Generation Kill would be an excellent miniseries for a reaction. Based on a true story, and it genuinely reflects grunt life back in the 90s.

Cheshire

Legend 👍

Nim

Buffy is an entertaining show, but 144 episodes. Not sure if the YT views would be there for Cassie. She would have to do only 4-6 episodes per season like TNG. I see many channels doing long run shows, but most are small channels that can live with low views.

Joe

January has already felt VERY LONG. We have a -25° wind chill here in Michigan right now. My water froze last night, even with me trying hard to keep at least some of it thawed😒 Can this month be over already. Cassie's helping me to get through it.

Katie Jackson

I love Voyager and would actually like to see her reaction to some of it. Doing something like what was done with TNG and let Cassie watch episodes not voted on, on her own

Katie Jackson

Richard, have you ever watched TBR Schmitt (Daniel & Samantha)? They have a monthly Pick-a-Film also, much better odds at around 120:1. Maybe an option for you with HoD. TBR has done quite a number of horror films and shows, good reactors IMO, I've always liked them.

Joe

Alien Nation has always been a favorite. The first movie was my least favorite of everything though. I really loved the series and the 5 tv movies.

Katie Jackson

Definitely. It's been a long time since I've seen Lawrence, but nothing in my memory tells me it's fast-paced.

Clarence Newman

....and will do so many times more, until Cassie realises that Saruman plays Dracula and this is what she actually means by "Scary But Not Too Scary"! If that's not enough, it's worth pointing out that the Hammer horrors are where Wonderbra cleavage was first perfected. Her YT views will be off the charts!

Clarence Newman

As series go, one can never go wrong with BREAKING BAD, 24, JUSTIFIED, TWIN PEAKS (David Lynch-R.I.P.), THE LAST KINGDOM, DEADWOOD or the first two seasons of THE SOPRANOS. Wait, is my testosterone showing here? 😁

Above Average Dave

Re-Post: Sorry Cassie, you'll be needing a re-count, lol. Lawrence Of Arabia had 339 votes, Face/Off had 335 votes. 1530 votes were cast for all 8 films.

Joe

Complement to Lawrence of Arabia is Queen of the Desert, Nicole Kidman.

Horror of Dracula. There, I’ve said it, again.

TheSingulatarian

But with more steroids than in LoA

Richard Maurer

It's not every day you get to see someone doing a spot on Tom Cruise impression chainsawing prostitutes.

TheSingulatarian

In the early 2000’s the best shows on tv that i got hooked on were 24 and Six Feet Under which is my favourite tv show of all time. The Sporanos is also amazing!

Stuart Biegala

Oh, cool. Risky Business whatever poll that was? Or was it your monthly personal pick? No matter. It's wonderfully written and directed like a modern Chicago version of Alice in Wonderland. Hope you like it. Pretty sure the guy who plays Joel is gonna be a big star.

Robert Jewell

The first season is good but, in the second season it started getting into the rather boring lives of the town's people I lost interest rapidly. Tudyk is great but if he wasn't on screen show ground to a halt.

TheSingulatarian

What the heck are you guys talking about?

Richard Maurer

The Tour de France is shorter, Richard.

Clarence Newman

While I agreed that LoA is a much better movie than F/Off which is garbage, people like different things for different reasons. I mean there are adults who unironically enjoy Twilight, but I try not to judge ;-)

Richard Maurer

I just finished "For All Mankind" which is an alternate history of the space program. I think Cassie would enjoy that.

TheSingulatarian

Ah, the famously cut bicycle riding sequence.

TheSingulatarian

It even has LDS in it though fair warning they get a bit of a raw deal in the show.

TheSingulatarian

“A cinematic Tour de France”, Clarence? So you’re saying it’s long and exhausting? :-)

I know I've posted this before but I want to post it again, there is a really good DVD interview with Steven Spielberg talking about Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and how it inspired him as a filmmaker, being involved in the 1989 restoration of the film and meeting David Lean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2EqdX8fwSY

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Neither one was on my “Cassie needs to watch this” list but at least LoA is a good movie, Face/Off is just a joke.

Richard Maurer

So I’m watching “Lost” on Netflix, and you’re watching “Found” on NBC. Ironic 😊

Dan M

I know, it’s……Horror of Dracula.

Richard Maurer

I would recommend you watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer (you would love it (made by the same people who did Firefly, teen romance, not.too scary) but I still have hope that you’ll watch it for the channel someday.

Richard Maurer

The first season of Jessica Jones! Killgrave is a classic villian

George G

"Have you watched anything good lately?...I need a new off-channel TV show? Any suggestions?" I really recommend the original BBC series, House Of Cards (1990), that was later remade in US by Netflix. The original BBC series is a really brilliantly written and acted drama on the devious, corrupt goings on in UK parliament. In my opinion, I think it is one of the greatest dramas ever made. The first series is only four 1 hour episodes long but it is so engrossing and compelling that you never get bored and look at your watch, not once!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Now that would be a surprise. More likely to be Crocodile Dundee 3

Richard Maurer

APisn’t really a horror movie.

Richard Maurer

At least she isn't reading the book :\

Jamie

Might need the whole weekend

Jamie

The Fly!

Clarence Newman

YES american psycho is gonna be early halloween terror for cassie!!! Mwahaha. And I have to return some video tapes!

Rene G.

Yesssss! We need PLANET OF THE APES 1968!! And then the modern Matt Reeves movies will be fun!

Mike LL

I'm so glad you enjoyed Wicked!😊

Josh Middleton

"..... and a suprise one" Can it be??? 🤔🤔 Nah.. I don't think so 🤣🤣🤣

Björn Karlsson

Clay, I was thinking about her recent reaction to An Officer and a Gentleman and how you could tell she didn't like it, in part at least, because I think she went in expecting a rom com. There's certain movies which are comedies that don't have the usual trappings of a comedy and that can throw some people off, and I think this is one such movie. The main things that divert people from getting that it's supposed to be funny is because nobody in the movie is trying to be funny, or is finding anyone else funny, and of course because of the subject matter. I've seen very smart movie goers be confused about what is funny about this movie, so it's not an indictment of Cassie to say what I'm saying. I just don't want her thinking this is a horror movie, because it really isn't. It's definitely not for everyone, but if you are going to enjoy it, it's going to be because you're on its comedic wavelength.

Stranger2Reality

That was a show I was always going g to enjoy, been a fan of Martin Short and Steve Martin for a long time... "Jiminy Glick" is one of best comedy characters ever devised.

Mojo One Thousand

She is definitely intelligent enough and insightful enough to appreciate the satire. That's not the issue. The issue is the way she experiences movies as real -- the way she immerses herself -- may preclude her from appreciating the satire -- as was the case with Scream. Stranger, you make a good effort. We will see. I found AP interesting back in my 30's but now a little too much for me.

Clay F

+1 for The Fighter (2020). I love Amy Adams in that. Christian Bale does transform himself into character.

Clay F

Severance is a masterpiece of suspense and drama. Hope you'll enjoy it.

ArsTropica

I like Bosch and Andor.

Clay F

I mean, we’re getting both, and people are happy with that. Why would one wish for less than that? I don’t care for LOA but I’m ok with it being watched.

Omar

I can gi for this suggestion because its about something close to me. Both I and my daughter have cerbel palsy and are on the spectrum. So I want as much awareness to this as possible

David Freese

Joe, I too question the votes in these polls?! In my eyes “Die Under siege Hard” won by a landslide😉😂

Mark White

Shows: "From the Earth To The Moon" (1998) *True Story* 12 eps, Tom Hanks "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.) 1993) 27 eps, Bruce Campbell "Alien Nation" (1988 movie, for the channel) + "Alien Nation" (1989 TV series) 1 season, 22 eps + 5x TV movies after the end of the series "Bosch" (2014) 8 seasons, 80 eps for the channel: "Star Wars: Andor" (2022) 1 season, 12 eps Marvel/Netflix Street Level Heroes series': "Daredevil", "Jessica Jones", "Luke Cage", "Iron Fist", "Defenders", "The Punisher". Shared setting: watch in season release order, not one series straight through, similar to MCU.

JAKH

Only Murders in the Building https://g.co/kgs/SCDKays . One of the few shows I've been able to sit down with my mother and enjoy it almost as much as she does.

David Freese

Yep, totally agree Stranger.

Mark White

If she sees Picard with her completiest nature she won't skip 2 seasons to watch a 3rd. Never has she done that in 4 years. I hope though she does more older shows before the new Paramount plus shows because we'd be skipping 30 years of content. I understand (like I said in my comment) that DS9 might be a watch off channel but there still is Voyager and Enterprise that need to be done before SNW and Picard. If and when she goes back to trek.

David Freese

Face Off is so much fun! Come on. It has legitimately over the top but great performances by Cage and Travolta. John Woo is at is peak. This movie knows what it is. It’s a going to win Best Picture but Travolta acting like an unhinged Cage while cage acts like a reserved but obsessed Travolta? Mix in some great set pieces, some over the top music, and John Woo’s dove fetish and you got yourself a 1990s action classic, That being said? Lawrence of Arabia is one of the greatest films ever made.

Stan the Man

and the movie "Jack Reacher" (2012) occurs between season 1 and season 2

JAKH

But its fun and a better rewatch for some of us. But im not a big fan of super long films because I lose interest because of disability

David Freese

Clay yes I'm not the greatest in watching classics but some get my interest and I've watched LoA and it is long and boring at times but it is a great film but not for reactions and rewatches IMHO

David Freese

I've actually told her about Quantium Leap a few years back and she sounded interested so I hope she's already watched it but hey if not I +1 for a fun watch Cassie

David Freese

I want to say the same about Lawrence of Arabia. Because yes its great film but its too long and is boring at times. Face/Off might not be epic but its a fun quick action film that Cassie may enjoy. Sometime the fun movie can be a better watch than the serious one especially on rewatches.

David Freese

Looking forward to setting aside a lazy Sunday afternoon to rewatch Lawrence of Arabia with you!

Henry Graham

Whatever gets her to avoid watching Face/Off, I'm all for it 😂

Stranger2Reality

Mark, she probably won't read any of this, but if she does, I'm just trying to help her get some enjoyment out of it. I think if she goes in expecting to be disgusted or terrified, she's really, really not going to like it. But maybe if she goes in looking for humor in it, it won't be so bad for her. I definitely don't think it's her kind of movie, and don't think it's her kind of humor though. But to enjoy American Psycho, that's where the enjoyment is, with just how absurd it all is, especially Bale's character. Those who love that movie think it's hilarious. Those who don't see the humor generally do not like it. This is because as a slasher movie or something scary, it's pretty bad at those aspects. It's absurdist in a very dark way.

Stranger2Reality

Overture, curtains, lights. This is it, we'll hit the heights. And oh what heights we'll hit. On with the show, this is it.

V M

Stranger, I think you are right, in order to get this movie, you need to get the humour. But, my thoughts are, Cassie level of dark humour, as she has mentioned before, is more like Shaun of the dead or HotFuzz. I think and I hope I am wrong! Is, even if Cassie goes in knowing it is supposed to be satirical, it doesn’t mean the humour will land with her! We all have different types of humour we enjoy. My wife enjoys Shaun of the dead humour, but I know she would hate AP, no matter what I tell her! But, I do hope Cassie gets it. Even though the movie has artistic merit, I’m not a fan of the movie, but I am of Bale’s performance, which for me makes it worth a watch.

Mark White

How awesome would it have been if Cassie said this: BBBUUUTTTT when we downloaded the votes for Lawrence of Arabia vs. Face Off, they had the exact same number of votes haha 1503 votes each! So I guess the only fair thing is to watch neither!

V M

Cassie, my off channel suggestion is....if you haven't seen it, then I think you should watch Reacher. First 2 seasons on Prime and Season 3 is coming in February.

Joel Wayne

Another book series suggestion. The Expeditionary Force is a good series. It's emotional, great storytelling, and funny as heck at the same time.

Ronny Boss

If you are looking for a good show to watch might I suggest The Expanse. It would be great for the channel, but it would also be great as a show for you to watch in your downtime. And the books it is based on would be a really good suggestion for your book club. That book series is some of the best science fiction I've ever read

Ronny Boss

Looks like we've got some variably yahoo films coming this week, all of which will be good additions to the channel. None of of them will reach the heady heights of Crocodile Dundee 2, of course, but we can't have everything. I might skip the full reaction of Lawrence of Arabia. It's a cinematic Tour de France, to be sure, but I generally prefer to finish watching a movie in the same day I started and that's not possible with Lawrence. I'll wait for the 3 hour YT edit instead. Risky Business is a good opportunity for Cassie to see Tom Cruise at the moment his career took off and I think she'll enjoy it. I will stoically endure the gratuitous underwear shots in the dancing scene, but only because Star Trek Beyond is coming and Alice Eve will even things up (and then some.❤️- By the way, Mr Editor, don't you dare cut that bit out of the YT edit, otherwise I'm throwing hands!) As for American Psycho, I've said before that I watched it recently and I thought it was a bowlful of steaming ka-ka. It's well violent at times, but otherwise just violently weird. In my best Sean Connery accent, it's a 'shatire', and if Cassie approaches it that way, she'll be fine. My only hope is that it doesn't ruin Christian Bale for her, because I still want her to watch The Fighter (2010).

Clarence Newman

Totally agree Nim, Im probably slightly biased towards TNG and Picard, but out of all the trek crews, I think the Voyager crew suits Cassie most of all. She will enjoy Janeway’s character and captaincy style the most. I would be interested to see Cassie react to the episode “the Thaw”!! 😱

Mark White

*raises hand* RE: Severance.. I'm your huckleberry! I'm down for discussion.

Michael Enos

Shrinking. ...someone already mentioned Severance which would have been my 1st choice.

Michael Enos

No spoilers.. but Cassie will need to keep her Emotional Support Rom-Com handy for after American Psycho.

Michael Enos

I would agree if Cassie was just watching it for herself, Larry - LoA was made for a big screen experience - but as she's watching it on channel, it would kind of defeat the object if we couldn't see her reactions. Then again, Carly hid behind a blanket for 20 minutes in What Lies Beneath and that was WELL entertaining, so it may be worth a try.

Clarence Newman

OMG, Season One was SOOOO good. This show is definitely in my Top Shows for '25 list.

Kent Theaker

^Frick is the correct answer! :)

Philip Alan

Yes, please sit through the overture and intermission please. It'll stay synced with all of our copies! :)

Philip Alan

same, Cole. Very same.

Philip Alan

Yes, please watch it in complete darkness so none of us can actually see the reaction. Because, you know... this is a.. reaction channel. :) haha!

Philip Alan

"Severence" S2 is something I have had on my list. But a few things unlikely to be suggested by anyone else that are also on my list are some Aussie shows, "Utopia", "Fisk" and "Mr Inbetween". The latter 2 being available on services in the US according to Just Watch.

Mojo One Thousand

Quantum leap! It’s heart and humor

John Struzziero

Checkout the OG teen drama - “Beverly Hills 90210” (only Brenda years which was Pilot & Season 1 - 4 bc those were the best!) - unless you’ve seen it already then … “Third Watch” - the first two seasons are excellent.

Rose

I want to see her react to some silent films very much.

Rose

You’re going to witness countless miracles with LoA. If you can’t rent a theater, then we must make do with your home theater ^.^ David Lean is the true master of epic films. Freddy Young’s cinematography - the aesthetic and storytelling - has become a lost art of cinema. Sort of similar to darkroom printing - learning it is easy enough but mastering it and achieving high-quality prints is so challenging and satisfying! LoA is based on T.E. Lawrence’s memoir “Seven Pillars of Wisdom.” Everything about this film still captivates and inspires me. I can never get enough of this classic. Both Lean & Young were masters of their craft. I always learn something new from each viewing. I’ve been waiting for this one reaction since I joined PiB and can’t believe this is finally happening.

Rose

My guess on "the surprise one" for next week is Man of Steel.

Shawn Kildal

While I voted for LoA and glad that LoA [AFI Top 100 movie] won, I am not surprised that Face/Off (popular movie in late 90s) was competitive. After all, there are people, especially those who don't generally watch pre-1970 movies, who find Lawrence of Arabia too long (almost 4 hours) and somewhat boring. Also, many have not seen LoA. Plus, there are Face/Off fans and at least some nostalgia for Face/Off.

Clay F

It would be fantastic if she saw this and did not watch Face/Off as that movie is really awful. Please let her skip that movie!

Stranger2Reality

American Psycho is terrifying

Jason Dolan

Cassie, you'll do fine with American Psycho if you go into looking for the humor, as it's a dark comedy. If you're worried it's gonna be horror or a scary thriller, it'll make it very tough for you to enjoy it. Just look for all the ways it's satirizing these characters and culture and I think you'll enjoy it.

Stranger2Reality

Yes, by all means, if she's gonna continue with any more Trek, she should do it off channel! 👍

Stranger2Reality

new dvd releases this week fatima before the wrath get fast trigger happy monster summer influencer my hero AcDEMia you're next winner movie's send to my best fiend Cassie and Carly

David

Another reminder… Lawrence of Arabia SHOULD be Watched in the Theatre Room. I for one, don’t mind the darkness in the reaction video. If you’re watching a movie in a dark room, the way it was intended, the room should be dark, and there should be NO distracting lights shining in your eyes. The Big TV screen gave off plenty enough light, last time with Close Encounters of the Third Kind, to see you. Just as if you were in the same dark room that I was in. ;-) It was also the most perfect way to sync up the reaction with my TV, because the lights from both TVs let me know both TVs were perfectly IN SYNC. Also, if you are watching Lawrence of Arabia on a Physical Disc, there will be an Overture before the start of the film. The screen will be black, but music will be playing. This will last about 4 - 5 minutes. The intention of the Overture is to set the mood of the film, for the audience. It’s a little teaser of what’s to come and to prepare your senses. You are supposed to listen to it. There is also an Intermission, around 2 hrs & 20 min, into the film, where there will be another 4 minutes of music on black screen. This is your break time to go to the bathroom and get a snack. If you are watching on a streaming service, then the Overture and Intermission may be removed. I know you’ve seemed a bit uncomfortable with the Overtures in the past, not knowing what you’re supposed to do, and deciding to try to make “conversation” through it. So, saying again, the Overture is meant to be listened to or commented on. It has its purpose there. But, if you want to skip it intentionally, then I understand that too. Looking forward to it. Bookend Reminder… Lawrence of Arabia SHOULD be Watched in the Theatre Room. :-)

Larry Darrell

Face/Off is so bad. I guess it's fun to laugh at for how absurd it is, but that's about it.

Stranger2Reality

+1 for Old Man. Jeff Bridges won both an Emmy and Critics Choice Award for Best Actor in Drama Series.

Clay F

I love that you will watch not just recent movies but go back to great classics like Lawrence of Arabia. It would be amazing to see your reaction to a classic silent film: "The General" or "City Lights" or "Sunrise".

James Melton

That makes me feel a bit better. Still, only 4 more people voted for one of the absolute greatest films in motion picture history ever than voted for a Cage/Travolta thing?

Kevin Schultz

In what insane world are Lawrence of Arabia and Face/Off TIED in any sort of poll?? Oh, right, this one. Smh.

Kevin Schultz

I was fully immersed in the speculation sites back in the day as it was such good telly, I've never rewatched it though but i probably really should.

Gray

For off channel, I could recommend, "The Old Man" with Jeff Bridges. Oh, and lest I forget, you should definitely watch, "Midnight Mass" on the channel.

Joe

Janeway is The General!

Robert N Douglass

Lost is available again on Netflix. I started watching again a few weeks ago. I haven’t seen it since the final episode aired in 2010. It feels new to me because it’s been such a long time since I’ve seen it. And I’m just as engrossed with it now as I was when I watched it the first time.

Dan M

She'll need that intermission, lol.

Joe

"The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts." ❤️

Robert N Douglass

People have said all kinds of suggestions for Star Trek going forward, although I do agree that this channel should take a break from Star Trek for a while. I would prefer Star Trek Picard Season 3 to be the next one, but it is captain’s prerogative from Cassie. And lastly, congratulations Carly on your engagement!!!

Anthony Carlson

Frick?

Dan M

“My name is Joel Goodson. I deal in human fulfillment. I grossed over $8,000 in one night. Time of your life, huh kid?”

Dan M

I just checked HBO, and the Overture is removed. Possibly the Intermission as well??? Does anyone know how Cassie is planning to watch it? Streaming or Physical Disc? I for one like the overtures and intermissions. Getting a taste of the music is an enjoyable teaser.

Larry Darrell

Hi Cassie and Carly from popcorn in bed's post watching top 3 movie's are harry potter and the goblet of fire ghostbusters frozen empire chitty chitty bang bang was fantastic film's and Enjoy and re-Lax on the bed

David

The Expanse is awesome. A great newer sci-fi series. I think she would like it. A lot of good drama along with the sci-fi.

Clay F

The Lincoln Lawyer is a fun show on Netflix.

Alex Ch

I lost interest about 4 or 5 episodes in. I was just bored to death, but I’ve only heard great things.

Cole Jennett

Very exciting news! Can't wait for "Lawrence of Arabia", a true masterpiece! Be warned, it will be a long watch at 3 hours and 36 minutes. As for "American Psycho", another great film but a difficult watch (for entirely different reasons). You certainly like to challenge yourself. I recently watched your reactions to "Chernobyl" and was just wondering if there was any chance of another reaction with the glasses??? Very cute! 😉😗😚

Chris

Sorry Cassie, you'll be needing a re-count, lol. Lawrence Of Arabia had 339 votes, Face/Off had 335 votes. 1530 votes were cast for all 8 films.

Joe

Yep, that’s a tough hurdle after Risky Business. One I wish she didn’t have to get over.

Dan M

Well Cass, all you have to do is JUST GET THOSE OLD RECORDS OFF THE SHELF🎶🎶🎶🎶

Trevor Rotan

Risky Business is a solid film and Lawrence of Arabia is one of the greats. American Psycho? LOL It's a great film, don't get me wrong, but I would never want to watch her react to it.

thansen

I honestly think you should watch star trek Voyager off channel. TNG is widely regarded as the goat for star trek tv shows and DS9 is also very highly regarded but is a little darker and murkier than typical star trek stuff. Voyager has so much heart and I feel this one suits your sensibilities perfectly and once you get into it with the new captain and crew I really think you'll fall in love with those characters. I started off watching TOS in my youth so I hold kirk, spock, bones and Scotty in high regard. Never did I think I would find a better starfleet captain than kirk but Picard easily took the title with Voyager's captain taking my second spot even over kirk. Never did I think I would find a Vulcan I would like more than spock but Voyager has my all time favourite Vulcan character. Voyager also has my all time favourite star trek doctor too. Give it a go unless you're all trekked out at the moment.

Nim

LOVE Severance. Season two started off really strong last week. Ben Stiller is a solid director. Tried to find someone here that's into it but...crickets. Can't believe American Psycho is actually happening. And kinda feel like that Risky Business poster got Tom Cruise the Lestat role. Finally going to see Lawrence of Arabia this week, which is exciting.

Chris Thom

I feel that American Psycho is overrated. Yes, Christian Bale is good in it, but it's just a weird movie for the sake of being weird.

Mark Vaderr

The letter U

bknsty14

Loved this series! Great suggestion.

Mark Vaderr

I wouldn’t say I was hit by the January blues… more like run over. January is such a tough month, because at this point, it already feels like we’ve been through months and months of winter, but it’s only been a few weeks. And there is still a long road ahead before the first signs of Spring appear. Thank goodness we’ve got you, Carly, and the whole PiB gang to brighten up these cold, dreary winter nights. Looking forward to this week’s entries, with the exception of one, and I think you know which one that is. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for ya. On the plus side, let’s kick things off with some Old Time Rock n Roll! Hit it, Mr. Cruise!

Dan M

I loved that show

bknsty14

Interesting week, American Psycho is the only one of the three i've watched and wow should be quite the reaction. Laurence of Arabia i have always meant to watch so I guess it's time.

Gray

Cassie, when are you and Carly reacting to Planet of the Apes?

Mark Vaderr

For an off channel show, I HIGHLY recommend either We Are Lady Parts on Peacock or Girls 5EVA

Katie Lawson

January can be a dreary month. Can't wait for the Lawrence of Arabia reaction. I watched Gladiator II today. As far as a TV Series, (if you haven't watched it) "The Expanse" on Amazon Prime is pretty good.

Michael West

Great week!

Daniel Karlsson

I knew The "M" word was going to get mentioned at some point on this thread in reference to LAWRENCE.

Stick Figure Studios

I just started a show called Found less than a week ago and binged the entire 1st season and the 1st half of season 2. I'm caught up now with new episodes that air on NBC on Thursday nights. So far I've really enjoyed it. It's a procedural about a team of private investigators who use their own personal trauma to help them find kidnapped or missing people. I'd definitely suggest checking it out.

Katie Jackson

-4 (as I typed this) is the temperature outside where I lived. 🥶

Anthony Carlson

"Resident Alien" with Alan "Wash" Tudyk playing an alien. The right amount of hilarious and heartwarming.

DAVID COSTELLO

RB kinda fun. Glorified prostitution but hey it was the 80s. APsco just shut your eyes and go to your happy place. Lawrence an immersive sweeping larger than life based on a real person masterpiece.

Chicago Artist Jon

TV shows, I agree with some others "Reacher" is fun. "High Potential" a remake of a French series, is light, "Lioness" is fantastic with N.Kidman and Z.Saldana

Javier Hernandez

Anthony Carlson

Agreed on both counts.

Stick Figure Studios

Oh I know. Assisting on getting out the message. It's just a moral imperative.

Rick Rodriguez

I have been trying to emphasize for weeks that she watch LAWRENCE OF ARABIA in her personal theater space.

Stick Figure Studios

If your a fan of Slow Horses id recommend Black Doves or Happy Valley

Matt

Lawrence of Arabia, classic

Clayton Johnson

One of the best.

Stick Figure Studios

I will say this again watch DS9 even if there is no reaction. I know it'll be as enjoyable to you as TNG

David Freese

Definitely in the convo

Rick Rodriguez

Lawerance of Arabia my fav movie period Also not fair who voted for American psycho that’s mean to Cassie

Neil Varma

But what makes it one of the top contenders for greatest epic of all time is that it is also a very probing character study of a single individual. The director David Lean excelled at making movies that were simultaneously grand in scope but intimate in focus.

Stick Figure Studios

I like that old time rock and roll.

Stick Figure Studios

Yeah, I feel bad for Cassie having to watch that one. Hopefully, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA will provide the antidote to that experience.

Stick Figure Studios

Good week. For off-channel, I suggest this 1-season series below about 3 people in their 20's with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their life counselor played by Sosie Bacon (Kevin Bacon’s daughter). Streams on Amazon Prime. AS WE SEE IT (2022) (8 episodes). Comedy/Drama. A big-hearted show. “Brilliant [series] will have you laughing out loud one moment and choking up the next.” IMDb 8.2, RT 90% (audience 97%)

Clay F

It's certainly a worthy contender for that title. It's one of my all-time personal favorites.

Stick Figure Studios

Preach!

Rick Rodriguez

Feck?

Rick Rodriguez

It's gonna be something, that's for sure. To Huey Lewis!

Rick Rodriguez

Do you watch Reacher? Season 3 is about to start on prime. Really enjoyed the first 2. Lawrence of Arabia is great, but can be hard to watch. It is not your normal epic.

William Brownlee

Laurnce of Arabia mabe still the greatest film ever made

Matt

American Psycho? Uh…Okay Not sure if it will be your cup of tea Cassie. But I’m happy to be wrong I’m a little behind on your reactions. I still have the latest Star Trek to watch Hope you have a great week Cassie!

Robert da Spruce

I cannot emphasize this enough. Please, please, please, watch LAWRENCE OF ARABIA in your cellar theater space (and remember to turn your face light on this time unlike when you watched CLOSE ENCOUNTERS). It is one of the greatest -- if not THE greatest -- epics ever made by arguably the greatest director of epics who ever lived (the British filmmaker David Lean who also did BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI). The only way to experience the staggering and sublime spectacle of this movie is on a big screen. I finally saw it last year at a special re-release in a theater and it was utterly transcendent. I promise you you won't regret it. Oh, and be warned that it has both an overture (4 minutes of black screen with music from the score playing) at the beginning and an intermission halfway through.

Stick Figure Studios

Lawrence of Arabia and teen Tom dancing in a pink shirt🩷

Celeste McAllister

3 really interesting selections. Lawrence of Arabia is the definition of an epic movie. Size, scale, grandeur and one of the all time great soundtracks. Epic is understated in describing that movie

Bill Maurer

Tv show suggestion: Pushing Daisies. It’s a two season series with elements of investigation, the paranormal (fairy tale style) and comedy. But, mostly it’s a love story. Beautifully shot and completely unique. And one of the co-stars, Kristin Chenowith, starred in the Broadway play Wicked and was nominated for a Tony.

Just Plain Bob

It's not a show but Netflix has a wonderful movie 'Six Triple Eight' you might want to check out. 🖖

Mark McKeever

Can't wait for LOA. Fantastic movie.

Matt Rose

Oh man this is a great line up! Cassie, many have already said, but just adding on hoping you see of us saying this, watch Lawrence on the biggest screen possible with great sound. If possible to rent a theater, even better.

Rick Rodriguez

Seems risky!
