[YT Edit] Conspiracy Theory (1997)

Comments

Since you ask about conspiracies I'll tell you a few I believe- we never went to the moon, 9/11 was an inside job, 7/13/24 was an inside job, mrna vaccines were an experiment, epstein didnt epstein himself, and Big Mike is a dude.

My_Cousin_Mose

@ Mike - Elvis did fake his death, but he ended up in an east Texas retirement home fighting a mummy (hope you get the reference).

Richard Maurer

The pentagon site doesn't look like a plane crash to me Also a conspiracy theory that is proved to be true would effectively be any time the government lied to, or withheld information from, the public. Which is practically daily

Milton William Burray

Same chris. My willpower is strong at the grocery store but if that's in the house I'm drinking it.

My_Cousin_Mose

@Clay We unfortunately cannot get into them but you listed a few conspiracies as false which definitely happened as far as I'm concerned lol.

My_Cousin_Mose

Cassie I also drink my greens, cuz theres no way I have time to cook and eat them.

My_Cousin_Mose

This guy is a Wack job. Oh look he brings some psychotic Facebook group up and tells everyone to search it. Lunatic.

JD

I thought the cloning thing was a relatively new conspiracy theory, but apparently some people thought Paul McCartney died and got replaced with his lookalike in the 60's.

Chris Thom

"Elvis' death faked" That one is true. He was living in Indiana as of 1991. (good job if you got the reference)

Mike Lemon

How to argue some of those with you, but this isn’t the place.

Go0se

She does seem to like meat. MkUltra ended in 1973 and was fully esposed, thank goodness. The vast majority of conspiracy theories (e.g., 9/11 an inside job, 1969 moon landing fake, Sandy Hook school shooting fake, Elvis' death faked, Hitler survived WWII, Obama birther theory, vaccines cause autism, flat-earth theory, etc.) are ridiculous and not true. An odd conspiracy theory that Jerry believed in this movie is The Grateful Dead are British agents and Jerry Garcia is still alive. The Jerry character in this movie is so messed up in believing and being obssessed with a zillion ridiculous conspiracy theories.

Sugar works on the same addictive biological response as opiates. It’s literally the most addictive substance we come into contact with.

Go0se

Yes. He Stallone and Jon voight.

Go0se

It's a real position?

Chris Thom

I don't keep them in the house any more but I crave them SO hard after a couple months, it's crazy. Very much an addiction.

Chris Thom

YES good one.

Chris Thom

Cassie. Good work on pop. Fb group world carnivore tribe. You’re welcome. Also. Mel Gibson just named envoy to Hollywood by Trump. A lot of his conspiracies seem to hold truth. This movie really points at MkUltra which is true.

Go0se

Great reaction!

Robert Nelson

Seconded! Directed by Michael Mann - the same guy that did "Heat".

bgb1975 (Brian)

Not ALL theories are the "crazy" conspiracy kind. The government messing with peoples' minds has happened. The severity is unclear due to lack of gov't transparency.

Dan Campbell

So glad to see that Cassie is trying to cut back on the sodas! Those things'll kill ya! That's kind of a conspiracy, no?

bgb1975 (Brian)

Cassie, great reaction as always. “The Insider” staring Al Pacino and Russel Crowe is another you would enjoy. It’s maybe a Drama/Thriller. It’s a True story as well. Definitely a you and Carly watch. 96% on RT!

Mark White

Interesting that the movie playing in the theatre where Mel Gibson tried to hide was Ladyhawke, one of the movies in the 100 to 200 poll. It didn't win but I really think you and Carly would love it. Very romantic! Hey, if it's good enough for Richard Donner...

FilmFanFred

When you say "not that far from our modern truth, sadly," do you mean there are people today who believe in a zillion ridiculous conspiracy theories? One of the oddest to me in the movie was that Jerry believed the Grateful Dead are British agents and that Jerry Garcia is still alive.

Clay F

I was thinking of that movie too! And TBH, I saw this back in the day but had absolutely no recall! If anyone really wanted to go down the conspiracy rabbit hole, there’s always The Parallax View for starters!

Marja

Might as well put in my requests for February. Murphy's Romance Sid and Nancy On the Town The Philadelphia Story

TheSingulatarian

You should watch the Parallax View (1974). Warren Beaty, very handsome fellow. The assassin test montage is worth the price of admission by itself.

TheSingulatarian

There is a hilarious outtake of Richard Donner hiding in the shower and scaring the heck out of Julia Roberts when they made this movie 😀

Johnny Salinas

Yes

V M

If you do decide to watch The Manchurian Candidate, I definitely recommend you start with the original, starring Frank Sinatra, Janet Leigh and Angela Lansbury.

Marja

Heck yes. We didn't get our DVD player until 2001. Lol. But dad did go big once he made the commitment. Big ass TV and surround sound.

Chris Thom

VHS!!!!!!!!!

V M

Enemy of the State (1998) is another like that.

Mike Lemon

Yay! Can’t wait for Star Trek Beyond! I’ve loved your reactions to the first two Kelvin movies and how attached you’ve already gotten to this group of actors. Just sad that they didn’t continue Beyond this movie. Pun intended 😉.

Dan M

Have yet to see the ending of this. Had to hand this VHS off to mom in 1998 to go back to the video store. Finally ready to see what happens.

Chris Thom

I remember when this 1st came out. It's really under appreciated. And not that far from our modern truth, sadly.
