Top Requests #1-50 Poll

If you missed the video in the post before this, I randomly drew 8 titles from our top requests #1-50. Here are the results!

There will be 3 polls total: 1-50, 51-100 and 100-200!

I think we have some great options in all three and I'm excited to see what wins!

Vote away!

Comments

Middle East - desert campaign during WWI.

Catherine LW

Dusty, yes, but brilliant David Lean made some of the most beautiful scenes found on screen. I remember the first time I saw it and was stunned by the visuals. Stayed with me for quite a while afterwards.

Catherine LW

I hope Cassie will enjoy some of the most beautiful cinematography on screen from Lawrence of Arabia. This is WWI, which was also fought in the Middle East, with Turkey allied with Germany. True story.

Catherine LW

Alec Guiness (Obi-wan Kenobi) stars in it, and the original Star Wars used the same special cameras and lenses to film the Tattooine desert scenes that were used in "Lawrence of Arabia"

JAKH

Probably. Though, I think "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" would also fit that role. Then again, expecting polls to provide the best movies for Cass is a bit of a fools errand.

Doug Fisher

So I need to change “I could care less” to “ I couldn’t care less” ;-)

Richard Maurer

The lesson is obvious: care less! :-)

Happy Hanukkah

The trick is not minding that it hurts

Rose

The oldest movie on a poll actually won this time. Don't know if I've seen that before.

Shawn Kildal

Lawrence of Arabia is 3h 47m. Plus, Cassie isn't a big fan of "dusty" movies. It going to be a long night. I saw once as a teenager, but I don't remember much about it. But it's considered one of the greatest movies of all time. I'll be watching along this week, hopefully with new much more fonder memories of the movie.

Shawn Kildal

The movie that Cassie would've loved came in last place.

Mark Vaderr

Or you could grow up, not criticize an entire thought process because of one word that hurt your feelings and just realize it’s only my opinion and you’re free to just ignore it. Please just move on now. It’s exhausting having to defend my opinion over a movie reaction poll.

bknsty14

Gotta disagree, respectfully. One of the things that holds up about the movie is how compelling it remains. It's definitely not an action epic but it's always transporting, dramatic, and fascinating.

Rick Rodriguez

Final finish order by vote count: For 1-50 Total Votes: 1530 Lawrence Of Arabia: 339 Face/Off: 335 Jack Reacher: 177 Gattaca: 155 The Three Amigos: 147 Thomas Crown Affair: 137 Dirty Rotten Scoundrels: 136 Working Girl: 104

Steve Holton

Or perhaps you could just try to avoid words like "hate" ...

Happy Hanukkah

I've never seen LoA

V M

Both I like them both but I think Cassie would do well to catch up on the classics first

Nolofinwe

Think odds are decent that we’ll get both since it was so close, I’d be good with that 👍🏽

Omar

It’s a good movie, but action packed is not a good way to describe it.

Richard Maurer

LoA is going to be a tough one for Cassie, probably just bore her most likely.

Joe

I’m aware of the intermission. But if Cassie does the full watch along for Patreon she may not want to leave to get snacks

Richard Maurer

Face/Off, why? horrible movie. Of all these movies she would enjoy Thomas Crown the most.

John P Tucker

these older films normally have a intermission midway

Gray

Cassie- bring a lot of snacks for Lawrence of Arabia. It’s very long, and not like Return of the King long, where the time flies by.

Richard Maurer

Well one of my picks, LoA, won a poll. Ironically on the poll I cared the least about :-(

Richard Maurer

Cassie ..as many have said before - must watch LoA in your theatre room or the biggest screen you can find ☀️ *_^ so happy you’re going to finally watch my favorite movie of all-time!

Rose

*\o/*

V M

And the winner is: Lawrence of Arabia (339) over Face/off (335)

Gábor Árki

Hey guys, sorry my opinion doesn’t align with yours, but it’s my opinion so calling it “wrong-headed” is pretty rude. We can agree to disagree, but there is no reason to respond this way. I pay my money too. I’ll watch all of the reactions, but I’m fairly certain that there are just some movies that would make her uncomfortable. Next time I’ll make sure to keep my opinion to myself.

bknsty14

No worries. I checked just now. LoA - 337, Face/Off - 332

Clay F

Sorry, I re-loaded the page for updated totals.

Joe

Omar said it was 334-331 in favor of LOA -- 2 hours ago

Clay F

I enjoyed Cruise's Jack Reacher, entertaining action film, that's all you can ask for.

Joe

Lawrence of Arabia is an epic with gorgeous cinematography.

Harrison Bored

LoA - 337, Face/Off - 332

Joe

It's not that Jack Reacher. It's the small Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise).

Clay F

Lawrence of Arabia is a fantastic movie The three amigos is tremendous fun way better than dirty rotten scoundrels Jack reacher you wanna see a big giant guy punch everybody in the face for two hours I mean it’s good, but come on

Nolofinwe

Cassie loves true stories and one of the finest cinematic achievements is based on a real man. The actions/consequences of the desert campaign during WW1 continues to impact the modern Middle East. During WW2 Filipino guerrillas used T.E. Lawrence’s Seven Pillars of Wisdom as one of their main texts (along with Edgar Snow’s Red Star Over China) to learn guerrilla tactics. Lawrence himself wrote: “If we must fight, we have no excuse for not fighting well.” With all the pageantry and unrivaled accomplishments linked to LoA - it is also a clever WW1 film with political nuance and serious reflections on how small wars fit into big ones.. a man of destiny shaping history struggling with one eternal question.

Rose

Thanks. 334-331 in favor of LOA as of a minute ago

Omar

Some of her best reactions are to movies she doesn't like or didn't enjoy. Though her reactions to movies/series she truly likes can be pleasant and I'm happy for her that she likes the content. I do vote for movies because I think she will like the movie but that is not the No. 1 criterion for me. I vote for movies that are my favorites and I want to see her reaction. I vote for movies that I think will give an interesting reaction.

Clay F

Go to the actual poll page, then Ctrl U to bring up the HTML code. In the top left, check the "Line Wrap" box. Then, Ctrl F to bring up the search bar. Enter "num_responses". Num_responses are grouped with the actual vote counts.

Joe

How do you see the actual vote count? I don't see it on my side

Omar

Well-said Happy

Rose

"I do hate that people vote for what they want to see and not for what she would actually enjoy" I am favorably disposed to Cassie, but this comment... Cassie is welcome to watch whatever movies she wants, and nobody is preventing her from doing so. She chose to embark on this particular enterprise, in which people pay money in order to vote on which movies she'll react to. Deploring the fact that they don't choose movies which she would have watched regardless seems somewhat wrong-headed. Granted, the fact that some people vote for *movies* they wish to see instead of *reactions* they wish to see strikes me as foolish, but hey, their vote/money, their choice.

Happy Hanukkah

The whole reason she created this channel was to expand her movie horizons. It is what it is right now but if there’s one film that every film lover should see in their lifetime - it’s definitely not F/O.

Rose

Face/off will probably make for a fun reaction, LoA not so much (haha). She will probably react to both since the voting is neck and neck.

Joe

The imagery and cinematography tells its story, much more than its dialog or characters. The visual storytelling and subtleties leaves such a lasting impression on me and the character study is fascinating. Every time I watch this film I always learn or notice something new - similar to reading the Lymond Chronicles. I love Working Girl too and Cassie undoubtedly would love it but she created this channel for a reason. I’m just excited and hopeful that she can finally experience one of the greatest films ever made. Other reactors have had interesting takes on this film and I’m very curious to see Cassie’s reaction - which I know definitely won’t be dull.

Rose

LoA - 330, Face/off 327

Joe

Please tell me Lawrence is still ahed right now.

Jake McNulty

That's my hope.

Mike LL

I agree with all points. It has great cinematography, spectacular editing, majestic music and incredible performances. It just does not have a griping, engaging story. It's actually, kinda dry.

Mike LL

Well, you just described one of the major draw backs to polls.

Doug Fisher

Never even heard of it. 😄

Catherine LW

Current Lawrence of Arabia -- 328 votes Face/Off -- 322 votes

Clay F

Thanks Steve :) Worked. Current is American Psycho 331 votes, True Grit 335 votes I had tried something like that but didn't play with it long enough. Your clear instructions did the trick.

Clay F

Cassie WOULD like Working Girl because of the romance(s), the underdog, the culture clashes, and the actors.

Bert Towle

Spielberg called LoA a miracle of a film. You should watch it on the big screen presented in 70mm - especially for your first viewing to fully appreciate it in all its glory. You must see this film the way David Lean intended. The American Cinematheque’s exclusive print made the film look like it came out yesterday. I saw it at The Aero Theater in Santa Monica but wish I could have also seen it at the Egyptian in L.A. that was beautifully restored. LoA was a transformative figure and he actually reminded me of Dorothy Dunnett’s antihero Francis Crawford of Lymond in her legendary Lymond Chronicles (great read btw). YT channel “Empire of the Mind” did a great film analysis of LoA. Definitely worth a watch!

Rose

Not in the top 200 last I checked

David

Clay, in Chrome you can use the 3 dots in the top right corner to pop open a bunch of options. Choose "Cast, Save, and Share" and then "Save Page As". If you save the page as an HTML file on your PC, you can then open it with notepad to search for num_responses. It's a bit thick in the HTML code, but the "num_responses" are in order in the HTML, so the first one you see is the total number of votes, the second is the value for first poll entry, etc. It is easier to do this on the individual page for the poll and not the posts listing of all the polls. Example: https://www.patreon.com/posts/top-requests-101-119598641 is the individual page for the 101 to 200 poll.

Steve Holton

The "opponents" are the last vestiges of the Ottoman Empire, which devolved to the Turks.

Bert Towle

I've been really wanting to see it since I heard in the Spielberg doc that it was the film that got him into directing. Haven't taken the time to sit down and watch it yet, though.

Chris Thom

Watch out for those nut punches. He's already down there, after all.

Chris Thom

A tangled web we weave.

Chris Thom

Phenomenon should probably be on the channel at some point.

Chris Thom

Is Lawrence of Arabia set in Turkey?

Chris Thom

Ack it's too much pressure.

Chris Thom

Nic Cage at Full Nic Cage is pretty fun.

Chris Thom

There are five movies on this poll that she would truly love and they are currently at 9, 11, 7, 9 & 10%. I do hate that people vote for what they want to see and not for what she would actually enjoy, but one way of looking at it is she will watch the winner and most likely see the comments about the better movies in the polls, increasing the likelihood that she will watch those sooner rather than later.

bknsty14

The English Patient (1996) has 22 requests at popcornrequests.com

Clay F

Queue. Cue.....Barney McGrew. Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub. Oh my God, that brings back memories.

Clarence Newman

Cue.

AdrianF

Working Girl is one I have not seen yet.

bgb1975 (Brian)

I tried. I did Ctrl U in Chrome and don't see "num_responses"

Clay F

Cassie would like Working Girl (1988)?

Clay F

Thank you! Took me a while but I got there.

Shehab Dawoud

Queue the haters - I made an effort to watch Larry of Arabia relatively recently, and found it to be one of the most boring movies I've ever seen. Full disclosure - I don't think I made it to the end. Fell asleep. Without getting into specific spoilers, is there an amazing ending that I missed? Should I make another effort? EDIT: And just to be clear, Face Off is no better. I would probably prefer Larry to Face Off.

bgb1975 (Brian)

Agreed. Another painful poll. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels should be running away with it. Three Amigos is great, too. "In-famous is when you're more than famous."

bgb1975 (Brian)

It's in the HTML source, if you check for "num_responses".

Gábor Árki

@Gábor How exactly can you see the amount of votes?

Shehab Dawoud

This just might be the most divisive poll on this channel in a long time. Personally I wouldn't mind watching a reaction to "Face/Off", but "Lawrence of Arabia" is an unquestionable must-watch cinematic masterpiece. If it loses I won't complain, but I'll still be very disappointed.

Jake McNulty

This one is very close: 319/318 for Lawrence at the moment

Gábor Árki

@V M, I think part of the issue is that the universally agreed-upon "great" movies are starting to run out, while the number of people here has grown significantly. There are still plenty of excellent films left to react to, but not as many that are both critically acclaimed and broadly popular with a wide audience. With such a large group now, it seems the majority is leaning toward the decent, mainstream, but more widely known titles, rather than lesser-known, hidden gems or the more highly acclaimed films that lack widespread popularity.

Gábor Árki

American Psycho and Risky Businsess are now winning in the other polls. Still have a tie here in this poll. Edit: Now a tie again in all 3 polls.

Clay F

Great films. My PIB Pick a Flick choice next month will be the same that it was this month: MIDNIGHT RUN. One of the five titles I suggested after winning trivia night.

Stick Figure Studios

My PIB Pick a Flick choice for this month is Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Next month it's On the Waterfront. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody:( Then, it's a little movie called Gone with the Wind.

V M

Tied for 4th place

Clay F

He wasn't too bad in Phenomena, Michael, and Grease

Clay F

Most of them.

Stick Figure Studios

Stick Figure, I'm thinking you voted for some of these movies

V M

I want to take the people who are still here and form a new, secret Cassie channel :P

V M

We're still here, there's just a whole lot of other people here now too Oh, well. ;-)

Stick Figure Studios

Cassie's channel is full of people who hate good movies!!! What happened to the people who got her to watch the following movies, which is why im here: IAWL, Casablanca, Rain Man, As good as it gets, Arachnophobia, Psycho, Scream, Dog Day Afternoon, Fargo, Terminator 2, Ben Hur, Poltergeist, Misery, The Sting, Halloween, The Godfather I & II, My Cousin Vinny, Scent of a Woman, Adventures in Babysitting, The Wizard of Oz, Pulp Fiction, No Country for Old Men, Field of Dreams, Silence of the Lambs, Roman Holiday, An American Werewolf in London, Christine, The Untouchables, The Breakfast Club, Stand by Me, The Shining, The Sixth Sense, Young Guns, Back to the Future 1, 2, & 3, Shawshank Redemption, Matrix 1 & 2, Glory, Unforgiven, Rocky, & Rear Window. Were they banned? I never got the chance to thank them :(

V M

Godfather was 3 hours. GWTW is 4 hours

V M

But Kit, you may be on the wrong wavelength and not realize it

V M

"WE are on TWO different wavelengths." - Peter Griffin

Kit Taylor

Voted for Lawrence. Anything to stop the putrid Face/Off. Two overrated actors, with an explosive happy director, with a silly premise. No thanks!

Mark Vaderr

Wow. This pulls at my heart strings. I LOVE Three Amigos. It’s part of who I am. But Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is the better story. All good because looks like neither will win. Stop. - The In-Famous El Guapo.

Mark Daniels

I like that idea a lot.

Dan M

If Lawrence wins, I suggest Cassie look briefly into the early 1900's history of the Ottoman empire (it's demise) and the Arab Revolt (which got them nowhere in the long run). Even if it doesn't help with the film, it will help with understanding why peace never really works out in the Middle East no matter who has the upper hand in any era.

Bert Towle

You gotta see "Moment by Moment" where he plays Lily Tomlin's boy toy interest. At one point they get naked in a hot tub and John keeps trying to get Lily to tell him "I love you". She tries to avoid by saying "Let's smoke some POT!" When she won't tell him, he gets his feelings hurt, tells her "When you can tell me you love me you can have me" and flees the hot tub like a school girl 😂😂😂

BRT

The best movies always make for the best of certain kinds of reactions.

Stick Figure Studios

The best movies don’t always make for the best reactions.

JC762

The 70mm screening (as it was originally intended) at the Aero in Santa Monica was the best movie experience of my life. Not many movies exist in this format and Cassie should experience the David Lean Lens - the Holy Grail to cinematographers.

Rose

And made in the 90s no less

Stick Figure Studios

Face Off is 80s style cheese at its most fun.

Sean

Who the fuck mentioned anything about kicking ass. I was referring his height in the books plus it's still not that great a film, especially after seeing the amazing series

ElmSt Reactions

Gattaca Face/Off

Vincent

I think a lot of people consider Pulp Fiction one of his best performances. And Saturday Night Fever. But I get what you're saying.

Chris Thom

You know it's bad when even the ever-kind, diplomatic Stick Figure Studios is having a go at the community!

Shehab Dawoud

You don’t have to be huge to kick someone ass, you just need to know what your doing. Also I actually like the film. But voted for Face-Off as I just think LoA is just boring lol.

Dean Holt

Elaine Benes: Hey, what're you guys doing here? Lisa: We just saw "The English Patient" again. Gail: It's even better the second time. Elaine Benes: They made it longer? Elaine and Peterman are watching "The English Patient": Elaine Benes: No. I can't do this any more. I can't. It's too long. Elaine Benes: Quit telling your stupid story about the stupid desert, and just die already! DIE! J. Peterman: Elaine, you don't like the movie? Elaine Benes: I hate it!

V M

I am shocked no one else has asked for the English Patient.. Shocked.

David

Voted for Working Girl, just love that one. Second choice would be Face/Off.

Tina P

It says currently that it ends in 2 days.

Cole Jennett

When do the polls close?

Omar

Exactly, we can watch Arabic Larry some other time lmao

Omar

Face Off! Face off!

Odd Thomas

Face off is tied yesssss

Omar

God bless you, Gray

Stick Figure Studios

@Neighbodhood: Well, not everything certainly, but most good -- and certainly all truly great -- films I think deserve a reaction... especially if it happens to be outside of Cassie's regular wheelhouse (given that a big motivation for launching this whole enterprise was to broaden her cinematic horizons). For me, a good reaction video is not necessarily an animated one, but just one that is commensurate with the film being watched. If it is a perplexing/thought-provoking film like 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, I like to see the reactor thinking about what they are seeing. If it is a comedy like DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, I like to see the reactor laughing in delight. If it is an epic spectacle like LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, I like to see the reactor looking up in awe... and, of course, if it happens to be a lousy movie like HOWARD THE DUCK, it can be amusing to watch a reactor wince in pain has they endure the debacle. The quality of the film and the authenticity of the viewer's response is what makes a reaction video interesting to me. Consequently, there is plenty in LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, both as a stunning visual feast as well as an engaging drama, for Cassie to "bounce off" of. I've seen other reactors discover it and it was a satisfying experience.

Stick Figure Studios

I'll switch to Lawrence as Gattaca sure isn't gonna win :D

Gray

Ah, to be young and foolish again.

Stick Figure Studios

Something about John Travolta just doesnt seem real. I dont even know what he's actually like, but everything Ive ever seen him in, he acts like he's acting? If that makes any sense. Unnatural line delivery, its like being slapped in the face with somebody clearly delivering lines to you. Watching him feels like an unironic version of John Basilone from "The Pacific" reading the radio script when he gets sent back to sell war bonds.

Miguel

LAWRENCE OF ARABIA winning would cover a multitude of sins.

Stick Figure Studios

Although Lawrence of Arabia, Risky Business and True Grit leading with a few votes under the hood and occasionally you see them showing a 1% advantage on the page too depending on the amount of their lead

Gábor Árki

Also, it's a tie on all 3 polls. A triple tie

Gábor Árki

When I went to bed LAWRENCE OF ARABIA was still ahead. When I woke up, it was now tied with FACE/OFF. Sigh. I knew it was probably too much to hope for from this group. :-(

Stick Figure Studios

You broke my heart, Mike. :-(

Stick Figure Studios

Thomas Crowne Affair all the way - it's on my personal Top 10 for Cassie. She and Carli will absolutely love it!

Story Archer

I took inspiration from the American Psycho/True Grit situation to switch my vote to Face/Off to block Lawernce of Arabia! That’s right, the classic movie guy is True Gritting Larry of Arabia. Let’s face it: ‘ol Larry does not a gripping story have!!!

Mike LL

Out of your control - trying to please everyone is impossible. Go with your choice 😊

Rose

TBR Schmitt did such a great reaction to LoA. CineBinge as well. Cassie’s reaction to LoA on the biggest screen she can find would be epic.

Rose

Then they won't take Aqaba.

Rick Rodriguez

What a reality we're in. Lawrence of Arabia vs.....Face/Off.

Rick Rodriguez

Exactly and it's terrible lol

ElmSt Reactions

3rd place

Clay F

@Stick It isn't just recency bias, although it's a factor. A good reaction video needs things to be happening to react to, things to bounce off. I'm not saying Cassie shouldn't watch Lawrence of Arabia but not everything needs to be reacted to

Neighbourhood Watch Alliance

Whos voting for 5 foot jack reacher ffs 🤣🤣

ElmSt Reactions

Great movie

ElmSt Reactions

Lawrence of Arabia has such great cinematography. It would be my choice, but it is a bit long and I'm not sure everyone will enjoy the subject matter.

Kevin Albertina

Cassie is a British colonial 🇨🇦🇬🇧

Neighbourhood Watch Alliance

Some films are just best enjoyed in quiet on the big screen, rather than as a reaction video

Neighbourhood Watch Alliance

Or hide the results.

Grad

I meant to say this on the other post of you filming yourself picking these flicks lol! You picked out some really good ones Cassie, some of which I grew up watching! For instance, my vote is for "Face/OFF" that is such a classic 90's action film, maybe a little far-fetched with the science fiction part, but it is a unique consept! John Travolta and Nicolas Cage are phenomenal, I think you might enjoy it if you get around to watching it! I've seen "Thomas Crown Affair", it's interesting, however this one you listed is actually a remake! "Lawrence of Arabia" fantastic movie, I think you'll like it! Now to give you my take on the other polls lol! 😁😉👍👌✌

Wesley White

I know, right? Let's not jinx it.

Stick Figure Studios

😆

shaneth138

Interesting idea. Personally if my first choice is not competing I'll often switch to a tactical vote, should I have a strong feeling against any front runner

Neighbourhood Watch Alliance

Please, please Gattaca! I watched this film when I was in middle school and it changed my life!

Shin Yeji

I'm surprised Working Girl is last, but maybe Cass will choose it as a pick of the month

Neighbourhood Watch Alliance

Face/Off is a ludicrous premise, horribly acted (Except for Cage) and a bad script. Of course I've seen it 7 trillion times and am voting for it. :)

Matthew Folz

Instead of putting in the Jack Reacher movie, put in the series on Amazon Prime, a MUCH better version.

Mark Schamber

Shame on anyone that voted Jack Reacher. There is only one Jack Reacher, and it ain’t TC.

Brian Lowery

✨ me too!

Rose

Oh man please let Arabia win. It might be mi all time favorite and I havent seen it in years. Would love to see someone see it for the first time.

Jesse Wilson

Valentines Day for sure.

TheSingulatarian

Cassie actually has a theater room at her house.

Chris Thom

I resemble that remark.

TheSingulatarian

Sorry that people don’t want to watch borefests from the 60s. Not everyone pretends to like movies just because they’re old.

shaneth138

Then why vote for it?

shaneth138

Ugh these grandpa movies are killing me.

shaneth138

@Larry: True, but she has responded favorably to some of the other 3+ hour epics she's watched on the channel like BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI (another World War II story directed by David Lean), THE GREAT ESCAPE, SCHINDLER'S LIST, BEN-HUR and TEN COMMANDMENTS. I suspect it wasn't the length of even the pace of of GOOD, BAD AND UGLY that made it difficult so much as it was the fact that it was a western and it's, for lack of a better word, "Italian-ness."

Stick Figure Studios

Well, this is backwards.

Stick Figure Studios

I love Lawrence of Arabia! Gattaca is pretty good too.

abraham wilson

It’s not over yet, still too close to call

Richard Maurer

Larry of Arabia

Richard Maurer

what a heap of garbage. at least 51 through 200 had some great movies

zynjams

I voted for LoA as well. Jack Reacher, which Ive seen many times, wouldve been my second pick. I've never actually watched LoA but I hear its good :P

V M

I’m curious how Cassie will like Lawrence of Arabia. She was not a fan of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly… another long, visually stunning, sweeping epic that is a tad slow placed.

Larry Darrell

Yeah it doesn't stand a chance of ever winning a poll. It would have to a PPOTM or a winner from the monthly patreon draw.

Aaron Mann

I still say it would be interesting to see the poll resubmitted after 24 hours, with the bottom 2 films removed. Then after the next 24 hours, resubmit the poll again with the bottom 2 films removed. Let’s see which films the 7% of votes for Working Girl and the 9% of votes for Three Amigos go to when you can’t vote for those movies. It’d be more exciting than watching Lawrence of Arabia stay in the lead for 3 days with only Face/Off as its competition. A poll with 8 films that lasts for three days, and after 4 hours, we already know that it’s going to be either of the two films. Also, if Lawrence of Arabia or Face/Off wins… then Cassie would be watching a film that only 20% of her patronage prefers to watch. (-: I love Lawrence of Arabia by the way. I’m just trying to add a little spice to these polls. I mean seriously, after 4 hours, you know what the Top 2 is going to be. What if half the poll was removed… perhaps a film in 4th place could take the lead. Lawrence of Arabia and Face/Off are 2 completely different films. With 4 of the films removed from the poll, we may get a better idea of which of the 2 films are more preferred. Maybe one will get a bigger lead, and then we’ll have a film that MOST people want to see. I think it sounds like fun ;-)

Larry Darrell

LoA 😭🙏 my fav movie leading?? For how long tho …

Rose

Not to mention the Oscars...

Robert Nelson

OMG! They're all great movies.

Robert Nelson

How’s Face Off #11???? Who ranked these? I walked out of the movie. Dumbest narrative I’ve ever seen and paid for it🥸

Anthony V Petty

Wow, can't believe that Lawrence of Arabia (1962) is actually winning. I wouldn't mind if Face/Off won, but we get one of the most famous and significant movies of all time if Lawrence of Arabia (1962) wins.

Clay F

If I'm going to sit through a 4-hour movie, I would rather watch Gone with the Wind than LOA

Eddie Perkins

You are exactly right. LoA is a masterpiece, a classic, one of the best films ever made. It just doesn't have a captivating story that grabs you. Cassie would enjoy Working Girl much, much, much more. It got my vote.

Mike LL

My vote goes to The Thomas Crown Affair

Robert da Spruce

I knew Gattaca wouldn't have a chance with all these good movies.

Eddie Perkins

Working Girl has always been one of the movies I have wanted Cassie to watch. To face this reality that it would not win a poll, maybe it is just this poll, is a big downer.

Mike LL

I might missed it, but gotta show appreciation to Thomas Crown Affair too.

Rick Rodriguez

I believe it was the Ben-Hur reaction when she skipped the Overture. She had just never seen an overture before. A faux pas that hopefully will not be repeated.

Mike LL

Faceoff number 2 now soooo close!

Omar

It got my vote!

Mike LL

Agreed.

Angel Lulu Blu

I also picked it because Cassie would LOVE it.

Angel Lulu Blu

Agreed! It would be so fun.

Angel Lulu Blu

Yes! Hopefully she’ll be able to react to it someday. More than likely she’ll have to make an executive decision to watch it because I don’t imagine it will ever win a poll.

Angel Lulu Blu

I agree but currently last place, so they likely will not be watching any time soon, if ever. I've recommended it before.

Clay F

Every freakin film must be watched !!!!!

Jerrod Acree

I’m getting giddy just thinking Lawerence has a chance. BTW there isn’t a screen big enough to watch it on.

Keith Jones

. . . if and when it ever wins a poll. *sigh* Cassie should make it a Popcorn Pick of the Month.

Mike LL

Gattaca! Gattaca! Gattaca!

keoma songs

At least go to '72 and watch the Godfather. Not just turning it on and looking at it, if you really invest urself in the dialogue and story, I promise u will thoroughly enjoy that one. I'm not big on classics either, but Godfather is a must watch

Patrick Crippen

You and Carly will LOVE LOVE LOVE “Working Girl”

Mss Lee

Do you need a calculator?

Luke Godfrey

"... no recency bias here ... draw the line at 1977 ..."

Grad

Face off regardless needs to be watched

Andrew Heller

...and like "The Ten Commandments" Cassie should do it in 2 parts.

Bert Towle

Any of these would make a good reaction for this channel. But Thomas Crown is the pick for those who want a top Cassie reaction.

ArsTropica

I’ve seen Jaws so I should have said 1975.

Luke Godfrey

I've probably already alienated you with my condescension born out of frustration, so I don't blame you if you have no interest in getting any advice from me, but speaking as someone who is quite knowledgeable about film/film history, I strongly urge you to open your mind to works of cinema not made in the past 50 years (Cassie herself has done this and she has matured quite a bit as a film buff). There are some truly great, spectacular, funny, moving, brilliant, timeless classics that you are missing out on: CITY LIGHTS, CITIZEN KANE, CASABLANCA, THE THIRD MAN, 12 ANGRY MEN, DR STRANGELOVE, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, PSYCHO, VERTIGO, SOME LIKE IT HOT, THE GODFATHER, THE EXORCIST, DIRTY HARRY, JAWS, THE SEARCHERS and many, many more. Contrary to what a lot of young people nowadays think, cinema did not begin with STAR WARS.

Cole Jennett

Come on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

mattosh79

Yes, I suspect Working Girl is more her speed.

Stephen Dias

Don't be pushing for the Director's Cut, Stick!

Clarence Newman

This list was actually tough to pick just one. Lawerence Of Arabia is a classic, but then there’s Thomas Crown Affair which was my pick. Very smartly written. And lastly there was Jack Reacher. Maybe Tom wasn’t the one physical embodiment of the character on Amazon Video, but it was still a solid thriller

Anjolie Lanel

The movie I wanted to win was made in the 80s, so no recency bias here. I just draw the line at draw the line at 1977. Anything before Star Wars and I’m out. If that means voting for a late 90s movie so I don’t have to skip this reaction then so be it.

Luke Godfrey

Oh, believe me. You are not the only person who doesn't love it. I've been in many groups where it has been called the most "BOOORING film ever made." At least your criticism of it is valid and not just based on a lack of patience and sophistication.

Stick Figure Studios

Two of the best science fiction films of 1997 don’t deserve to be on the same poll. Voting for Face/Off but that’s rough…

Jacob King

Oh, come on! It's not 7 hours long... It's like 12 or something.

Stick Figure Studios

#40: Lawrence of Arabia (1962) best film on that list also it's a true story

scott osborne

A few good ones on here, but I'm going for the epic that is Lawrence. Also agree it should be viewed in the comfort of Cassie's theatre room - it being, like, 7 hours an'all.

Clarence Newman

I usually root for the classic but I'm probably the only person who doesn't love Lawrence of Arabia. I admire it, sure. Stunning visuals, great acting, crackling dialogue, certainly not boring. I'm just frustrated that, due to when it was made, a film that's so visually bold has to tiptoe around two of its major subjects, British colonialism and homosexuality, presenting the former as "adventure" and the latter as "eccentricity." In any case I'm voting for Gattaca but will also be rooting for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

jdj830

Oh, believe me. Being a part of this patreon community for a long time, I'm very familiar with how the "real world" operates: old great films must wait in line behind newer mediocre ones because of recency bias. It's unfortunate, but it happens way more often than it should.

Stick Figure Studios

The closing shot of INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (when the four silhouetted heroes on horseback right off into the sunset) is a direct homage to a similar shot in LAWRENCE OF ARABIA.

Stick Figure Studios

It’s just one vote weirdo. The move I wanted to win didn’t have a chance despite a comment pleading for others to vote for it, so I adapted. Welcome to the real world.

Luke Godfrey

This was the only poll not predictable

Philip G.

The first one feels like a superb gritty 1970s action-thriller directed by Don Siegel. I loved it. The sequel, not so much.

Stick Figure Studios

Here is a DVD interview with Steven Spielberg talking about Lawrence of Arabia, meeting David Lean and being involved in it's 1989 restoration.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2EqdX8fwSY

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Yeah, there really isn't a bad movie among this bunch (unlike the other two polls), but some are definitely better than others. I'm also chuffed that LOA is in the lead.

Stick Figure Studios

Absolutely. I watch this film dozens of times on home video, but when I finally saw it on the big screen in 2024, It was like I was seeing it for the first time.

Stick Figure Studios

If Lawrence of Arabia wins be ready Cassie it a long movie and like Ben-Hur it has a 5 minute overture before the movie starts and a intermission break. (I voted for it)

Keith Brown

^This Is why we can't have nice things.

Stick Figure Studios

It's a great film and I'd love if it won. I just don't think it has a chance.

Stick Figure Studios

“Lawrence of Arabia” has frequently been quoted by Steven Spielberg as his favorite movie and the film that inspired him to pursue making movies as a career

Darren Harrison

She would enjoy Working Girl the most and it's actually a very good film.

thansen

I bet if this poll had been a “select all that apply” Lawrence of Arabia wouldn’t finish top 3. Too many good one’s splitting the vote.

Cole Jennett

Just changed my vote to Face/Off. It’s the only one close enough to beat the old movie I have zero interest in currently in the lead. Needs must!

Luke Godfrey

Gattaca should grab your interest as far as your imagination can take you Cassie.

FranciscoGios

I'm okay with the top 2...

Mannygogou

Lawrence Of Arabia is very far from my favorite on this list. But it certainly is a legit classic.

Walter

My very small and only input would be. Should Lawrence of Arabia win, as it is looking like. It needs to be done in the theatre room. It is a "biggest screen, with the biggest sound system possible" movie

Michael G

All these movies I’d love to watch along with Cassie and the only one I have zero interest in is winning. Typical. 🙄

Luke Godfrey

If Carly is joining any one of these 3 poll winners, I guess that will be Risky Business from the current #1s

Gábor Árki

JACK REACHER: Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle (Mystery, Crime Solver)

Ike

THE THREE AMIGOS is the only duff film in the bunch, and even that is watchable. DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS gets my vote but I'm psyched that LAWRENCE is in the lead...fantastic movie.

Matt Rose

When she watches 2001:ASO the intermission is for the 1968 thing,go outside and drop acid for the 2nd half....

Celeste McAllister

Ruprecht the monkey boy!

Henry M

Another tough choice, but I’m going with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Steve Martin is hilarious, Michael Caine is a suave Michael Caine, and I think you’ll get a kick out of the premise. Good fun all around.

Dan M

The first Reacher movie with Cruise is great. Second one ... so-so

Bill Maurer

@Patrick: you are correct. DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS is the better movie. I do enjoy both and I think Cassie would enjoy both, but I think she would enjoy DRS more.

Stick Figure Studios

Movies like Lawrence of Arabia come around every 75 years or so. Legendary movie

Bill Maurer

Great movie with Steve Martin and Michael Caine

Bill Maurer

Also, not really a spoiler, but FACE OFF has zero to do with hockey. Sadly.

Above Average Dave

I think we just need to warn her when a movie has an overture and an intermission / en'tracte. She probably do better with them if she knew they were coming.

Stick Figure Studios

The recently restored 4k version gives a whole new meaning to "visually spectacular."

Above Average Dave

gattaca!

ExploreWinnipeg

I agree. The new one has its charms, but the original is the definitive version.

Stick Figure Studios

this one is the hardest poll. Some really good movies here, Dirty Rotten Scoundrel is hilarious, Gattaca a fantastic sci fi movie. Face/Off a classic action flick with two fantasic leading men. Lawrence of Arabia which is quite the spectacle. Gonna vote for face/off maybe we can force a tie.

rakesh

It may be cheesy but its a fun watch. Sometimes I think that's better for reactions than things like Lawrence of Arabia because you don't have to pay as much attention.

David Freese

My vote went for the classic, Lawrence of Arabia.

Jeff

Lawrence of Arabia is astonishing. See it on the biggest screen available to you!

Henry Graham

I think Lawrence of Arabia is one of those movies that everyone should see, but I'm not sure that Cassie will like it. I voted for it anyway.

Caomhan84

I wish she had forgotten to watch the talking rubber duck, not kidding...

Celeste McAllister

Let's play a game of Clue: I guess Lawrence of Arabia... in the Theatre Room... with The Carly.

Dave

Howard the Duck. She cut the Howard the Duck Overture....I'm kidding.

Rick Rodriguez

Of the three lists, everyone movie on here Cassie would like/love, though she may find one of them sloooooow. Probably the same could be said for 51-100.

Above Average Dave

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is one of the best comedies ever. I really think she'd like it

MountainViking

@Philip: since Columbia pictures was celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2024, they re-released a lot of their classic movies to the big screen remastered in 4K. LAWRENCE OF ARABIA was one of them. I saw it at a local AMC theater as part of a Fathom Event. It was transcendent.

Stick Figure Studios

Cassie, Face off is a great film and hope it wins.

Beth Brown

Personally, for the Thomas Crown Affair, I prefer the 1968 version with Steve McQueen & Faye Dunaway. But, otherwise they are all good choices.

Long-time Sci-Fi Enthusiast

And Camal riding lessons:)

Celeste McAllister

It's good, but I still prefer the original one with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.

Stick Figure Studios

LAWRENCE OF ARABIA and DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS are two of my favorite films. I'm fine with either one winning.

Stick Figure Studios

If you liked the Sting you will love Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Doug R

Tell which movie that was, four years I haven't seen Cassie do that...

Celeste McAllister

Lawrence of Arabia is the best film on this list, but the best reaction would be Working Girl. You get Harrison Ford in his prime, Melanie Griffiths best performance, fun supporting turns from Sigourney Weaver, Alec Baldwin and Joan Cusack. Plus, the great Mike Nichols in the directors chair. Great Film! I think Cassie would love it.

BD Williams

As well as heist, culture, and set in nyc

N M

I think all of these are great choices in their own right and I know Lawrence of Arabia is a Classic, but I had to vote for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as it is a fantastic movie and one I think she would enjoy. I'm sure she'll get to all of these some time, though.

Chris Davis

Thomas Crown Affair needs to be seen regardless of this poll. It’s one of the best films made of its genre.

N M

Cassie would absolutely enjoy Thomas Crown Affair. And probably Jack Reacher. And Face/Off. And maybe Gattaca. Lot of good choices in this poll.

Cory H

I'm pretty sure it won't win this particular poll, but Three Amigos is just too much fun to not view at some point, especially given the previous films similar to it Cassie has seen.

Terdell Ferguson

Yeah but I’d wager Cassie had heard of that movie long before now so it will likely appear in another poll.

Luke Godfrey

I hated the lesson on Brave New World. Are you East coast? Cause damn, If we weren't classmates with that.

Jaccob Cortes

She skipped an Overture once. I can't remember which film it was. But I remember her starting the reaction AFTER the overture.

Philip Alan

It truly is one of the greatest films ever made. It's one of my favorites and I finally had a chance to see it on the big screen earlier this year where I was blown away by it.

Stick Figure Studios

...with the biggest screen and sound speakers she can get!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Hey join or DIE...is a flag.

Chris Thom

I really like it, just think DRS is better and funnier 👍

Patrick Crippen

She always does from start to finish...

Celeste McAllister

These are all great movies. I haven't watched Lawrence of Arabia yet, it is on my list, so if it wins I may watch it along with Cassie.

David Kent

Cruise is not book reacher...but he is charismatic

Rick Rodriguez

Face Off is such a cheesy movie.

Johnny

It's be great if she did the full Overture and intermission in the reaction.

Rick Rodriguez

Even though there are other films on this list that are my absolute favorite a reaction from you and Carly on working girl would be spectacular.

Tinker

In spite of its infidelity to the source material, it's still a good movie that I think she would enjoy.

Stick Figure Studios

Cmon, man. Follow the rabbit.

Rick Rodriguez

I agree completely!

René Ferland

Truth.

Stick Figure Studios

In sand-o-vison

Rick Rodriguez

I love that film and would be fine if it won.

Stick Figure Studios

Lol. Yeah. Alas. Let the river run ya know.

Rick Rodriguez

There's seven other ways though.

Chris Thom

I went Gattaca though I know it won’t win. Pretty much ok with the one’s that are leading anyways

Cole Jennett

And she wasn't bored during BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI (also by David Lean) or the 3-hour GREAT ESCAPE. I think people underestimate Cassie sometimes with these classic epics.

Stick Figure Studios

Fingers crossed for Face Off. Pure 90s nostalgia and one of the best worst movies ever made. And I love ever second of it.

Blake Evans

I want to see a remake of Lawrence of Arabia in 2 parts filmed ENTIRELY IN IMAX.

Brian McGovern

Weird one of my teachers showed us that too. But I think it was a substitute.

Chris Thom

Face Off is my fav from the ones I've seen. I voted for Working Girl because I have not seen it and it has Harrison Ford. I've systematically watched every Harrison Ford movie I can through the years whenever I come across one I've not seen. I'm going to watch it one way or the other anyway. If Working Girl doesn't win, which is looking like the way things are going to go, I hope Face Off comes back and beats Lawrence of Arabia. I know a lot of people like LoA, so I guess I'm the oddball here, but that movie bores me to tears.

David Collins

I don't know. She wasn't bored during the other David Lean WWII epic that she watched (BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI). SO, maybe LOA will be more engaging to her than the Leone Western was.

Stick Figure Studios

I’m open to a debate on that. But regardless, Cassie would really enjoy it and it’s not one likely to keep appearing in polls. It’s now or never I suspect.

Luke Godfrey

Yep, same here.....I think it was a companion film to go along with reading Huxley's "Brave New World"

J

On the Big Screen is really the only way to do it justice. Lean meant it to be seen that way. No TV could ever replicate the cinematic impact, but I'd enjoy it all the same.

Brett Richey

Working Girl for me as well. Hugely excited to see it there and then hugely disappointed when I picked it and found out it's running last. Lol

SpiffMan

Oh fetch, here we go. Descending on these posts, polls and comments like I don't got s-- to do today (because I don't). This is fun.

Chris Thom

@Stick Where?? That's great! I would love to see it on a big screen. The remastered 4K will do fine though.

Philip Alan

I don't know. First season, yes. Second season was not very good IMO.Hope the third season is better.

Brian McGovern

GATTACA always struggles on polls but it's one of the all-time sci-fi greats that even Ethan Hawke holds dear to his heart!

Dan

I agree.

Stick Figure Studios

Yep.

Stick Figure Studios

🤣

Ricky

And she should watch it in her home theater.

Stick Figure Studios

I mean, it has inspired so many of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Including Spielberg and George Lucas.

Ricky

It's not even the best Steve Martin movie on this poll IMO 😜

Patrick Crippen

I agree with most everyone that most of these are really good to great movies. Voted for Working Girl to show it love. But all of these should be seen eventually, Cassie. If Face/Off wins it will probably make for great reaction.

Rick Rodriguez

LOA is my historical picture but my film pick is GATTACA. My bio teacher in HS showed us GATTACA as a lesson.

Jaccob Cortes

Good solid poll choices...I voted for 'Larry of Arabia'...."Go Big or Go Home"... LOA, this movie is for the Theater Room!

Celeste McAllister

True ... she did make it through Ben Hur and Ten Commandments. But LoA is a rather long movie with some serious dialogue in between

Bill Maurer

Just voted for Lawrence of Arabia (1962), if it wins the final, final poll, no one needs to send Cassie the DVD/Blu-ray; it's available to watch on Netflix.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I would agree that Tom Cruise is miscast as Reacher. In the books Reacher is 6’5” weighing close to 300lbs. So Reacher on Amazon prime is a much better choice.

Michael Scoggins

Hardest poll to choose from yet. So I dug deep in my heart and DRS is just perfect for a Cassie reaction.

Brett Richey

It is a beautiful looking film.

Philip Alan

It has to be Lawrence of Arabia. A great classic. The only other possibility would be Working Girl only because Cassie would love it. Don't just pick a favorite, pick one of the greatest of all time!

Timothy Williams

I enjoy watching the comments on polls, it's like hearing death row inmates pleading for a stay of execution 😛🤣

Patrick Crippen

"Lawrence Of Arabia" is legitimately one of the greatest achievements in cinema. It's a no brainer. Everyone should see it at least once.

Dryfesands

Wow. Looks like are people are taking "NO PRISONERS. NO PRISONERS" when it comes to choosing a winner. People thought Face/Off would win it.

Brian McGovern

Same. Same.

Philip Alan

Agreed.

Stick Figure Studios

Happy to see Lawrence in the lead at the moment; it’s my vote, but literally any of these movies would make for a great reaction.

Steven St Clair

I wonder what she would think of Brief Encounter (1945)?

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

It's a shame that Thomas Crown Affair is not likely to win, it's right in your wheelhouse Cassie. You might consider it for your pick of the month. Romance, adventure, excitement....

Lucien

Truth. But Cassie will be bored with this 4 hour movie.

Philip Alan

Seriously people. THE THREE AMIGOS has to win! Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase. It’s a comedy classic Cassie absolutely must see, and this is the first time it’s been in a poll! 🙏🏻

Luke Godfrey

Truth. haha!

Philip Alan

Reacher on Prime would be a better choice.

james sweeney

One of my all-time favorite films that I had the privilege of being able to see on the big screen for the first time recently.

Stick Figure Studios

It’s like THE Classic everyone will always talk about.

AC5555

Love that film.

Stick Figure Studios

Not mad that Face/off will eventually overtake the immortal Lawrence of Arabia. But Cassie does make it up eventually.

Rick Rodriguez

"Lawrence of Arabia" is a must-watch masterpiece. And I really enjoyed Cassie's reaction to "Bridge on the River Kwai", we need more David Lean film reactions.

Jake McNulty

I've been wanting a reaction to that one for a long time.

Stick Figure Studios

One of my favorite films.

Stick Figure Studios

Come on people. Working Girl has Cassie written all over it.

james sweeney

Though it's not terribly faithful to the source material, I did really like the movie REACHER and I think Cassie would too, So I'm okay with that one if it wins, but I'd much rather LAWRENCE OF ARABIA come in first and you are right about it absolutely needing to be seen in her home theater.

Stick Figure Studios

Definitely voting for Lawrence. It’s not something I’d watch over and over again, but it’s definitely something you have to see once.

Fritz

Yeah. Rent a theater if necessary

Rick Rodriguez

If she does do that one, she HAS to do it in her basement theater.

Stick Figure Studios

Anything but Face/Off please. Every other movie here is great, but F/O can only be enjoyed ironically. Naturally that's what's going to win though.

Stranger2Reality

If you thought you were bored during The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, boredom will have new meaning if you end up with Lawrence of Arabia.

Shad Kanyak

Lawrence of Arabia is an all time great, great film. One huge epic motion picture. So, so much to wrap your head around with just one film

Bill Maurer

I desperately want Dirty Rotten Scoundrels to win, that movie is just fantastic.

Christopher B.

Hmm this 1st poll is so so. I voted for Jack Reacher because I know Cassie likes Tom Cruise.

Michael Scoggins

Working Girl is very much up Cassie's alley, particularly given her appreciation of HF and SW. These are all pretty fun choices though.

Phil Sexton

Voted for Lawrence of Arabia, but I’m afraid we’re gonna get the vastly inferior version of Reacher (Alan Ritchson is so much better in the role). If, by some miracle, Lawrence of Arabia should win, it definitely deserves a home theater reaction. Cinematography is too grand to be seen in a smaller format the first time.

Just Plain Bob

Omg if a reactor I like does Lawrence of Arabia I will be so happy. Especially if Casey sees it because I love seeing her discover these great films.

Ricky

So many great films in this poll, so hard to choose!

TopGun2

Honestly, while some of these are better than others, I think all of these are at least good movies worth seeing (some are even truly great movies), so I'm not going to pin my hopes to any one particular title taking the prize. I'll wait and see which way the tide is turning later and vote for the best movie that I think actually has a chance of winning. For right now, that is LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (which is not only one of my all-time favorite films but imo happens to be the best film of this group).

Stick Figure Studios

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels please ta very much OK bye 👋

Brett Richey

Thomas Crown Affair is such a good movie and pick for her but alas I don't feel it will win

Choof

It will be travesty if Working Girl doesn't win. She'd love it so much!

Molly Campbell

MUST see Lawrence of Arabia. No other way.
