The one saving grace for me was the presence of Hayley Atwell who played Peggy Carter in the Marvel movies.

2025-01-05 06:30:04 +0000 UTCSkipping this for a while. I’ve actually never seen the bulk of these movies even though I did see the first one and really liked it. I recently listened to some new podcast where two sisters ranked the series and I thought to myself, I should check them all out.

2025-01-01 03:48:48 +0000 UTCI'm looking forward to MI: DR 2! I've liked all of the MI movies, though I think the series really comes into it's own after MI: 3. I'll always be a Bond Fan, but Tom made these movies be unique, without being 007 knock-offs, which I appreciate. I have say, and I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I find Tom is a great actor. No matter what he's in, I see the character he's portraying and not a Movie Star. Same as with Tom Hanks and Robert DeNiro. (I know I'm going to get razzed, but so be it)

2024-12-28 06:57:49 +0000 UTCKinda brings Van Halen to mind...Hot for teacher, anyone?

2024-12-24 08:47:28 +0000 UTCTBR Schmitt released their reaction for Holdovers today.

2024-12-24 07:22:46 +0000 UTCBuffering is always fun. lol
Chris Thom
2024-12-24 04:29:00 +0000 UTCHe’s fearless, if he wants to do it, no one can or will tell him not to.
Trevor Rotan
2024-12-24 03:52:56 +0000 UTCI don't know but he needs to consider not doing so many stunts. He's in his 60's now. And I think he almost broke his leg on the last one.
Chris Thom
2024-12-24 03:49:34 +0000 UTCWent off on a tangent. But yes he's charismatic. And very good at what he does. There's a reason he's a major movie star and has maintained that status. He takes the job seriously.
Chris Thom
2024-12-23 23:07:31 +0000 UTCI didn't connect to any of them THAT much to be honest. But there's some great set pieces and action moments in each. These are the kind of movies I put on while I'm multi-tasking. And yeah I get very confused later. lol. The third one has a great performance by Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
Chris Thom
2024-12-23 23:04:18 +0000 UTC4 and 5 I kinda just had on in the background while messing around on the computer. So probably missed quite a bit. But it also felt like I wasn't missing that much.

2024-12-23 23:01:14 +0000 UTCSeveral are critically acclaimed, e.g., high RT ratings

2024-12-23 20:49:36 +0000 UTCI'm skipping all of them :P

2024-12-23 20:24:55 +0000 UTCI was waiting for someone to bring up the scientology connection. How does Tom Cruise's children think of him?
V M
2024-12-23 20:22:31 +0000 UTCI am generally able to enjoy movies despite suspecting/knowing that those involved are bad people. I also fully respect those who feel otherwise. What starts annoying me is being lectured that I should not be enjoying those movies.* (This was a general statement; that was NOT what aarswft was doing.)
Happy Hanukkah
2024-12-23 19:38:33 +0000 UTCThe second one I would skip for a rewatch, but if you haven't seen it yet you should give it a try. It's very 2000s and John Woo, and very different from the rest.

2024-12-23 19:34:53 +0000 UTCJust listended to one of the podcasts and found out Carly was a 7th grad math teacher for a little bit. I'd have to say, if I was one of her students, I would've either been her best pupil ever and staying after school to have her teach me more advanced work or, most likely, I would've been her worst student ever and staying after school extra help. Either way, I would've worked a deal to stay after school for 1:1 tutoring 🤣

2024-12-23 17:07:35 +0000 UTCYeah, it’s hard to say if I like this one or not, I shall hold judgement until I’ve seen part 2. Apart from MI 1, which I really like, I’ve always found the MI movies Ok, but without being anything to shout about. I glad you both enjoy them so much it makes for great reactions.
Mark White
2024-12-23 16:56:31 +0000 UTCI was just thinking the same thing, great photo of them both❤️

2024-12-23 16:36:52 +0000 UTCScientology is creepy and destructive, but I choose to enjoy some of Cruise's movies. I want to give the Mission Impossible franchise a try (I haven't seen any of the Mission Impossible movies).
Clay F
2024-12-23 16:17:40 +0000 UTCI haven't seen any of the Mission Impossible movies. I want to do a binge and go through them. Should I skip any?
Clay F
2024-12-23 16:07:12 +0000 UTCThat's a good thumbnail. I haven't seen any of the Mission Impossible movies. I want to do a binge and go through them. Should I skip any?

2024-12-23 15:12:33 +0000 UTCI know I'm on thin ice saying this in here; but isn't that the case with literally every religion..

Neighbourhood Watch Alliance
2024-12-23 14:02:11 +0000 UTCConsidering he's been playing the same character in every movie (except Tropic Thunder) for the last 25 years - what difference does it make? He'll just change character names and do the same crap in another movie. Run around, do his own stunts and surround himself with short actors.
crazyivan
2024-12-23 12:04:57 +0000 UTCIt usually takes about a week to get the YT edit
Neighbourhood Watch Alliance
2024-12-23 10:13:19 +0000 UTCTo be fair you don't have to think an actor is a good person to enjoy their films. The Cruiser could have spent decades pushing his personal agenda into his movies but instead left his personal stuff at home and just made great entertainment. The last great movie star
Neighbourhood Watch Alliance
2024-12-23 10:12:11 +0000 UTCBut lighter.....than some closets. I don't mind the lighting being a bit more subdued, though. They're an ugly pair. 😆
Clarence Newman
2024-12-23 10:11:40 +0000 UTCIt should be noted that Christian Bale based his performance of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho on an interview Tom Cruise did. He wanted to portray Bateman as intensely happy but with absolutely nothing behind his eyes.
Stranger2Reality
2024-12-23 09:07:29 +0000 UTCI thought they had announced the next one (coming out this summer) would be his last, but I could be wrong about that.

2024-12-23 08:07:23 +0000 UTCI've tried that, but people don't call me "charismatic," they call me "creepy." Hmm. :-) :-)
Happy Hanukkah
2024-12-23 06:40:55 +0000 UTCi like how nobody in the comments thinks this is a good movie. good god its so terrible. even my girls cassie and carlie couldnt save it for me
Augustine Lee
2024-12-23 06:36:11 +0000 UTCThe return of the C-note(Carly)! I wonder how long Cruise will keep doing these movies.
Trevor Rotan
2024-12-23 06:16:03 +0000 UTCI think he does genuinely think he's helping others. So there's that...and it gives him a bit of a pass. But yeah there's a lot of toxic in it.
Chris Thom
2024-12-23 04:48:00 +0000 UTCAbsolutely not. But I saw a documentary on it and they talked about their communication techniques quite a bit. They're taught to bore holes through your forehead with their eyes. lol
Chris Thom
2024-12-23 04:45:51 +0000 UTCLike at some point 4 days ago?

2024-12-23 04:17:23 +0000 UTCAre you trying to sell us on Scientology? :-)
Happy Hanukkah
2024-12-23 03:56:58 +0000 UTCYou said it far better than I did but, yes, that’s it exactly. And lots of mindless action. I like action just fine, but so much of this seemed overwrought.
Just Plain Bob
2024-12-23 03:16:41 +0000 UTCThey don't give us much time to get to know or care about the characters. It's a lot of this person is lying to this person and this group is scheming to screw this group with this secret, blah blah blah. I tune a lot of it out.
Chris Thom
2024-12-23 03:15:44 +0000 UTCI've actually heard it's a Scientology technique. They literally teach you that at the HQ apparently.
Chris Thom
2024-12-23 03:13:32 +0000 UTCI was so bored when I tried to watch this movie (not the reaction, I couldn’t put myself thru this movie again) that I actually quit halfway thru. That’s very rare for me. It was just sound and fury masquerading as a story.
Just Plain Bob
2024-12-23 03:01:53 +0000 UTCI have heard stories like that about a couple of celebrities including Tom. They have an uncanny gift of making you instantly feel like you have 100% of their attention when they talk to you. I met Bradley Cooper while walking in an airport. We talked for like 30 seconds while getting to our gates. It was like that, such natural charisma.

2024-12-23 02:30:21 +0000 UTCSorry ladies! I’ll have to pass on this one. I’m in the middle of my own Mission: Impossible. Trying to put together a vanity for my daughter 😅. I think I’m going to self destruct once I’m done.
Dan M
2024-12-23 02:14:27 +0000 UTCSometimes people need to step back and remember Tom Cruise is not a good person. He's charming and can be very kind to people unless they cross his cult, and then it turns very ugly. He's personally been involved with ruining many lives. Judge a man by how his children think of him, not how Hollywood tells you to.
aarswft
2024-12-23 02:02:50 +0000 UTCAwesome. Was Tom really as snack sized as they say? Merry Christmas! 🎄 🎅🎁 I hope Santa brings you both all you wish for. I myself am wishing for Austin Powers 3 🤓
