Upcaroling

Hey guys! Hope you’re having a good week so far. We are December-2, Cassie-0 as I officially have whatever sickness Ben had last week and spent my birthday sick 😭 The good news is I’m hoping i’ll be all better for Christmas!

Are you guys feeling ready? I just need to get through to Friday and then I think i’ll be able to relax a little.

I’m sorry we’re behind, my Christmas wish is to be all caught up, ahead even before we leave to Canada. DREAM BIG! Im excited for A Christmas Carol, i think this will be my fourth iteration of it on the channel!

The Direcrors Clint Eastwood Poll went up yesterday! make sure to go vote, I will be watching the two winners, maybe three?

Also, the extra butter live will be on Thursday at 8 PM, we’re going to be doing a live watch along to Santa Claus is coming to town, it’s short so we will also have time to hang after I hope❤️

Thank you So so much for hanging out at the Live with me on Friday! I had a blast and. it’s never lost on me how lucky I am to have you all! I have been trying to load a starbucks gift card for a small thank you for everyone but my bank keeps telling me i’m doing fraud so i need to go into the store!

Ok I hope you all have a wonderful week, hopefully you can avoid stores and the post office 🫠

Ps what’s your fav christmas carol. Mine is Oh Holy Night (especially by Josh Groban) and The First Noel.

the romance the laughter the academy award winning musical beauifully remeastered roger and hammerstein's OKLAHOMA'?

David

Almost forgot to mention Horror of Dracula this time

Richard Maurer

It was. You do realise, though, that if Cassie ever does a Fred Astaire poll, The Towering Inferno is gonna win.

Clarence Newman

Yes! Was that Green Mile?

Mike LL

Should we tell Cassie that she's already seen a bit of Top Hat (1935), so she might aswell watch the rest?

Clarence Newman

🎼 Heaven. It would be heaven. We'd be in heaven so that we could hardly seeeeeee. 🎼🕺💃

Clarence Newman

You know what he's saying. "This festive foolishness must end HEYUH! This far and NO FARTHER!"

Clarence Newman

Classic. And pretty arty.

Chris Thom

I legit have some nostalgia for Black Christmas. Kinda sick. But it's a messed up kind of classic.

Chris Thom

Huh, I must’ve missed it. Thanks, I know what I’m watching tonight.

Jacob King

Hey Cassie, here are my favorite Christmas songs..... O Holy Night (Josh Groban) Holly Jolly Christmas (Burl Ives) Mr. Grinch (Thurl Ravenscroft) Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer Christmas Canon (Trans Siberian Orchestra)

Mark Vaderr

I literally just watched the Patrick Stewart Christmas Carol the other day BECAUSE of all the TNG Star Trek we've been watching! So excited!

Tony Cheek

Other christmas movies you should see aside from these: Silent Night: Violent Night, Krampus, Black Christmas, Silent Night (2023 from John Woo of MI:2), Gremlins 1-2.

Rene G.

My favorite Chrismas song is «Noël à Jérusalem» (Christmas in Jerusalem), an old song (1968) of Enrico Macias.

René Ferland

Please don't hit us, Patrick Stewart.

Chris Thom

Yeah 😊 Jussi Björling, one of the best tenors ever 🙂

Björn Karlsson

And just for you :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juGPcku2Ghc

Happy Hanukkah

Anything goes here, Chris, as long as we don't assault Cassie's tender ears with it. Denis Leary's "A$$hole" is another good one.

Clarence Newman

Talented little thing. 🎼🎧🎤🎼

Clarence Newman

Does Weird Al Yankovic's "The Night Santa Went Crazy" count?

Chris

The Apartment reaction exists as a Patreon exclusive.

Mike LL

Hoping so!

Mike LL

I am a zoological garden

Richard Maurer

Crazy fact about the two songs I recommended - she wrote Runaway at 11 years old, and Lucky at 9 .

Richard Maurer

They are, just not for you. ;-)

Richard Maurer

Just watched both. She is exactly the kind of singer I've fallen in love with these past few years. Great recommendation, Richard. Now, if only your movie suggestions were that good.... 😂

Clarence Newman

You're at least a closet. Weird things come out of it sometimes. 💀🤖👽

Clarence Newman

My favourite Christmas song is Christmas Time is Here by Vince Gauraldi Trio. After Christmas comes New Year’s and the best New Year’s movie is The Apartment. Billy Wilder and Jack Lemmon’s follow up to Some Like it Hot.

Jacob King

Maybe this will be the gateway to some Fred and Ginger movies.

Stick Figure Studios

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town? Yes, YES, ANYTHING to finally get Fred Astaire some exposure on the channel! Even as a voice over on an old Rankin Bass Christmas special! Bravo!

Mike LL

Favorite Christmas song no particular order preference 1 Where Are You Christmas Faith Hill 2 Mary, Did You Know? Kathy Mattea 3 Christmas Day Michael W. Smith 4 Merry Christmas Darling Karen Carpenter 5 Grown-Up Christmas List Amy Grant

Doc Larry

https://youtu.be/Mtn7Y1g209U?si=VY5sel8V2qGyPdC3 Great version 😃😃

Björn Karlsson

The only version of "A Christmas Carol" I actively dislike (not counting SCROOGED) is the 2019 Guy Pearce miniseries. Just awful.

Stick Figure Studios

@ Clarence - still do yourself a favor and watch those videos I mentioned - you won’t regret it.

Richard Maurer

Your mantra comments reminded me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxSWVkPfVc8 and thence to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckVYO9oI8vc Keepin' it ecumenical! :-)

Happy Hanukkah

I AM NOT A ROOM.

Richard Maurer

One of my all time favourite Christmas songs is The Pogues Fairytale of New York Feat. Kirsty McColl. There is a really great BBC documentary on the making of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUSNzqqLFT0

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Hmmm I have an old favorite. Fxck off Santa by Bob Noxious 😁😁😁 I don't dare to link to Youtube. It's an animated music video and it's VERY english imo 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Björn Karlsson

Yeah thats the one HH 😄😄 A popular song here in Sweden as well in December 😄😄

Björn Karlsson

Too late. I've already downloaded All My Demons off iTunes. She's right up my street.

Clarence Newman

You can find Aurora easily on YT. I suggest starting with live version of her hit song Runaway at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert and her song Lucky done live at Nidarosdomen.

Richard Maurer

Since that video has issues (region-restricted?), here's an alternative link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhNlCCUZ__4

Happy Hanukkah

You're a tough room.

Clarence Newman

Sorry those don’t count. Just bad American attempts at Asian martial arts.

Richard Maurer

Hilarious song, Dean, but a wee bit potty-mouthed for Cassie's tender ears. "It Was Over" is a sweet love song, though. I think she'd love it.

Clarence Newman

Gingers, amiright? :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Im not surprised you and Ben keep getting ill, it's the same in any household with a number of kids. They pickup so much from school.

Sean

What’s wrong with that 😂😂, seen Kevin a few times live he’s awesome. Also like Corey Taylor’s Christmas song from about ten years ago lol.

Dean Holt

Ok I know there’s few horror films are in Cassie’s no watch list lol. But that character in the Santa Claus is coming to town poster looks really freaky 😂😂.

Dean Holt

Well, I'm a big fan of that kind of singer - Lisa Hannigan, Loreena McKennit, Cara Dillon, Rosie Thomas. If you're endorsing Aurora, I'm checking her out. In the meantime, have a listen to Where The Lost Ones Go. If that one doesn't hook you, nothing will.

Clarence Newman

I beg to differ. In one of the early scenes, Mayo gets his butt kung fu'd by some Filipino boys. And in Karate Kid, Mr Miyagi beheads a row of beer bottles. Like, just with his hand!

Clarence Newman

Christmas Carol

Oscar Ortega

I will try but they’re going to have to do a lot to be better than Aurora.

Richard Maurer

No there isn’t. There isn’t any in The Karate kid either.

Richard Maurer

I've got you covered, guys. There's some martial arts in Officer and a Gentleman.

Clarence Newman

Hi Cassie. Merry Christmas to you and your family. My family is getting on a plane tonight. We're celebrating our Christmas and New Years in the Philippines. My favorite Christmas carol is Silent Night, but sung in Latin.

Vlad D

If you like mellow Norwegian music, Richard, try some of the following: Ane Brun - All My Tears, Changing of the Seasons, Temporary Dive Sissel - Angel Rays, Like an Angel Passing Through My Room and Where The Lost Ones Go (superb song, with Espen Lind) I will stake my reputation as a recommender on both.

Clarence Newman

No it’s definitely January, no need to question it.

Richard Maurer

Hmm....has the PiB research department confirmed? I thought that Octember was AMAMAM!

bgb1975

Favorite carols - 'O, Holy Night' and 'The Little Drummer Boy', particularly the version sung during Season 1, Episode 10 of The West Wing... I'm assuming this is okay because I know Cassie is a big fan of The West Wing - if it's not, let me know and I'll delete it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_BRd1fegBw

Story Archer

Few people know this but January is Asian martial arts movie appreciation month (just trust me, no need to check on that). It the perfect time for a second Asian martial arts poll.

Richard Maurer

Santa Claus is coming to town is the best classic movie ! I've seen it all the time when I was a kid back in the day and still watched it today!

Matt Rudd

1951 version is great, for sure. 1984 version just happened to be the one I grew up with. So, there’s a big nostalgia factor for me. Also, I agree, the Jim Carrey version is solid. It gets bashed a bit but I’m a fan.

Bryan Erickson

Not available in the US :-(

Richard Maurer

My dads ancestry came out of Sicily. As to the godfather, there’s no offer I could make where she wouldn’t refuse…

John Struzziero

Sorry for the delay, yeah I dropped a note

John Struzziero

Hehe another norwegian christmas song 😆😆😆 https://youtu.be/joWd2P-6keM?si=_KAUOHOkvsVhk7D2

Björn Karlsson

In all honesty, for me Boney M’s version of any song they do will be the best version of that song.

Cole Jennett

Utah is 2 time zones away from me, so it will be 10 o'clock here in NC!

fire12wife

😂Brillant!😂

Mark White

OK, that's a double frick with a side order of fetch. To the rest of yuz, if anyone mentions Dickens again, I'll ki'ya. Mince pie for the first one who drops the correct response....

Clarence Newman

I don’t really listen to Christmas music, but I sometimes sing it in an ironic manner. However when I do want to listen some mellow music I listen to the wonderful Norwegian singer, Aurora.

Richard Maurer

"A Christmas Carol" was Dickens, not Shakespeare.

Stick Figure Studios

That's a good one. I'd be fine with either that version, the 1951 film starring Alastair Sim (coughing considered the definitive cinematic adaptation of the Dickens story) or even the Robert Zemeckis / Jim Carrey CGI version.

Stick Figure Studios

"Carol of the bells" ,"Somewhere in my memory", "little Alter boy" -Karen Carprnter if you havent heard it, listen as soon as possible. "Some Children see him"

(Nolo)finwe

Sorry to hear you’re sick, what a shame it was on your birthday. Hope you had as good a day as possible, happy belated birthday. 🥳 My favourite carols are Carol of the Bells, and Oh Holy Night too.

Delia P

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing is my favorite Christmas carol! I hope you're feeling better soon!

Sophie Gallo

I love those Carol's too, Cassie! "Mary, Did you Know?" " "Silver Bells" " Carol of the Bells" " Hallelujah " by Cloverton. " I'll be Home for Christmas " Michael Buble and more! I love so many! I need to watch the Sir Patrick Stewart version ahead of the reaction as I've not seen it. I'm sorry you and the family are sick! Praying for a quick recovery. Merry Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our Savior! The Real reason for the Season!💚❤️🫶🥰🙏🙏

Melissa Smith

For next year's 5th iteration of A Christmas Carol, I'd love to see you react to the 1984 George C. Scott version.

Bryan Erickson

Just watched the YT edit of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (had to wait till I watched the entire thing with my wife last night), and I have to say, it's going in my favourites. Robert Downey Jr is a natural comedian, him and Val are great together, and that right there is what I love to see from Cassie. Happy, smiling, clearly having a whale of a time throughout. Absolute bullseye. Now.....how about "The Fly"?

Clarence Newman

Sorry to hear you’ve been ill again. If you don’t get a chance to catch up, don’t stress about is, just enjoy the holidays, hopefully free from illness! I find that kids in groups really are the perfect petri dishes. I remember when I lived with my brother, whose girlfriend at the time was an elementary school teacher for lower grades. Starting every September when the school started, she would get sick, then my brother, and eventually, I’d catch it too. During those years, I ended up getting sick 3-4 times a year. I'm not sure if it counts as a Christmas song, but this year I find myself listening to Hallelujah. Not just the original Cohen version but have been listening to several other covers as well over the past weeks.

Gábor Árki

Byrd N. Hand, I feel for those in retail this time of year. 🎵 "I wanna wish you some comfy earplugs from the bottom of my heart!" 🎵 😊

Steve Holton

Clarence, that is beautiful!

Steve Holton

I have to say "O Holy Night" is my favorite too. Groben really knocks it out of the park! Another one that I really like is "The Christmas Song" with Johnny Mathis or Nat King Cole. Hope you're feeling better and Happy Birthday!

clutchkman

Speaking of Christmas songs, do you think Cassie would ever trust me again if I recommended "Hey Santa Claus" by Kevin Bloody Wilson?

Clarence Newman

A Sagittarius ♐? 🤔 It was my birthday Saturday. 😁 *high five* Clint Eastwood has some fantastic movies as a director. I wasn't a fan of him as an actor. But if you look at a younger version he looked like Hugh Jackman. I'm still waiting for you to react to A WALK IN THE CLOUDS. It will totes be your favorite. Either way, Merry Christmas. I hope I'll be going into Boston for a Wicked sing-along. 🎄🤓🙏🏼 Oh yeah, I ordered a temu Christmas shirt celebrating one of my favorite holiday songs, "Dominic the Donkey". I hope it gets here on time.

Antmovies

Get well soon Cassie! As I say, a lot of orange juice, hot drinks and a shot of whiskey should do the trick.

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

I'm the world's biggest Beatles fan, Byrd, so I've got all of them, including the full set of Christmas fan club records on floppy vinyl. Great showcases for The Beatles' humour. I've always liked "Ding Dong", although I may be one of the very few fans who think Dark Horse is one of George's best albums. At that time, I'm convinced he was trying to write the perfect mantra song. He'd already had a go with Dehra Dun (terrible song) and kind of succeeded with the ending of My Sweet Lord, but had never quite nailed a true mantra song. Ding Dong is not a bad effort, and a pretty good song to play on New Year's Eve, but Dark Horse does contain his best example of a true mantra - namely the lovely earworm that is "It Is He: Jai Sri Krishna." As for Ringo's Christmas album, let me just say that I love the man and will not say a bad word against him.

Clarence Newman

This one is not really a Christmas carol, but a really nice Christmas song: "Merry Christmas, Alabama (Never Far From Home)". I'm still mourning the passing of the artist over a year later.

bgb1975

Which brings to mind one of the best YouTube videos ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ne6tB2KiZuk

Happy Hanukkah

Feel better, Cassie! Mickey's Christmas Carol was a good one. Made long before diz-knee went downhill.

bgb1975

Switching from the Schubert version of Ave Maria to the Bach/Gounod one, there's a wonderful rendition by the great Bobby McFerrin and a Montreal audience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14LcvpXmb74

Happy Hanukkah

I remember seeing that on a Christmas special when I was a kid. It may have been the first time I heard it. I’m not sure.

Dan M

Happy belated bday Cassie, hope ur feeling better, happy holidays, Elvis sang some nice Xmas songs but cant think of any off the top of my head but I guess all I want for Xmas by Mariah Carrey is a popular Xmas song

Robert

My favorite Christmas Carol is the George C Scott version

Don

Hey, my favorite Christmas song is also O Holy Night! Even though I’m secular af

XanderWhat

Oh Come All Ye Faithful sung by Twisted Sister is obviously the best Christmas carol. The video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YV-SpT69IZ8 Song only - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI3HhrQk-3M

Mike Lemon

A song that, at this point, makes me want to blow my brains out. 🤐 Give me his cover of "Light My Fire" any day.

Byrd N. Hand

Cassie, sorry you have been sick. As far as Christmas songs go my favorite is Silent Night.

Stuart Guthrie Jr.

When it comes to The Beatles and Christmas, I'll always go for their 1966 and 1967 exclusive fan club recordings -- "Pantomime: Everywhere It's Christmas" and "Christmas Time Is Here Again," respectively, both of which kind of presage the works of Monty Python. When it comes to their solo work, I'll go with Ringo's "Come On, Christmas (Christmas, Come On)," since it hasn't gotten as played to death over the years as John's (and Yoko's) "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)" or Paul's "Wonderful Christmastime"... and is still more better-thought-out than George's rather half-assed New Year's anthem "Ding-Dong, Ding-Dong." 🤔

Byrd N. Hand

Won’t your notifications take care of that? Or will it?

Carol Rocha

Btw, I love all the older animated short Christmas movies.

Carol Rocha

Perry Como (anything). Was playing his LP last night. I’m not sure it’s considered “Christmas” per se, but I love Ave Maria.

Carol Rocha

Carol of the Bells is so beautiful by the Trans Siberian Orchestra 🎄

Carol Rocha

Taco Johns :P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oe11ZxGHJMw

V M

heh

V M

I read that Bing didn't want to work with Bowie because all he'd seen was Ziggy Stardust and all the weird, glam rock outfits. On the day of filming, he was shocked to see this well-dressed, polite young man turn up. No frills, no diva attitude, just acres of respect for Bing and a desire to do the best job he could do on the day.

Clarence Newman

Silent NIght. That brings back memories. That was a big one for me.

Clay F

Sorry you were ill for your birthday. I pray Christmas makes up for it. My favourite Christmas carol is also Oh holy night, it brings me to tears every time I hear it, but my favourite version is by Celine Dion. Wishing you a safe blessed Christmas with your family. Tough one for me this year with recently losing my dear dad, but I will try my hardest to bring some Christmas joy for my mum and grandkids. Merry Christmas

Jeanette

Mark! Patreon rules clearly state that only Cassie gets to be sick over Christmas. To avoid a heavy fine, I prescribe hot toddies, lobster baths and plenty of ice cream for your sore throat. You could also try that Crocodile Dundee thing where you put a towel over your head and inhale a hot bowl of cocaine. "Get into it."

Clarence Newman

And so help me, if anyone points out that "A Christmas Carol" is Dickens not Shakespeare, I'm gonna be handing out fricks.

Clarence Newman

Cassie lives in Utah, so any time zone app should tell you the time zone she's in for definite. I think it's MST (but don't quote me! lol)

Julian Corbett

Two "Snowman" recommendations in consecutive posts? It's a landslide, Cassie!

Clarence Newman

Hey Cassie, hope you're week is going good for you as well! So sorry you ended up sick on your birthday, [slaps myself in the face] stupid me I actually forgot your birthday was Monday... D'OH!!!😖🥴 Even more sorry, work has been kicking my rear end lol! Best of luck to you making it to Friday and wishing you a speedy recovery! No need to apologize getting behind, it happens, and with Christmas rapidly approaching, it's understandable! You're gonna watch that Rankin & Bass stop-motion short movie "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"? I haven't watched that in ages since I was a kid, unfortunately I don't think I'll be around for that watch-along, I'll be at the movie theater seeing the new feature "The Lord of the Rings - The War of the Rohirrim" in Anime form, oh gosh I can't wait😃 [No Spoilers] Despite it being in Anime form, it's still set in the Peter Jackson verse if you will lol, set almost 200 years before the events of both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies, telling the story of one of Rohan's most legendary kings! After I see it, I'll tell you whether or not you should see it in the theater, considering you've never seen LOTR in the theater (sort of) I remember the story you told lol😂 But I think it would be cool for you to get that experience lol! It's no surprise that the Clint Eastwood poll has Million Dollar Baby winning, just be warned with no spoilers, it's a tear jerker! I still say one of these days you should watch Heartbreak Ridge, it's one of my favorites that he's done and also one of my Dads' favorites as well! You're so very welcome again for the t-shirts I got you and Carly, the $100, the Christmas card, the pictures and the Werthers lol! If you saw the rest of the pics, can you believe the number of Hollywood celebs I met at those conventions this year, I'm still in disbelief that actually happened lol! Once again, what I wrote in the card is purely out of good faith, trust, and friendship, nothing more lol! I honestly cannot say which Christmas carol is my favorite, but if I had to pick I'd say "The 12 Days of Christmas"! Anyway, have a good week Cassie, love and support, you and Carly are the best, get well soon, Merry Christmas, and God bless y'all and the family🥰😇🙏🤗😁😉👍✌🌹

Wesley White

Was just now wondering as long as you're doing Christmas shorts if you've seen The Snowman. There might not be a more moving Christmas film that you haven't seen.

Raieldon

By jove, you're right!

Clarence Newman

One of these Crimbos, Cassie, you're going to be well and not know what to do with yourself. In the meantime, I hope this latest lurgey doesn't last too long. I'm looking forward to A Christmas Carol. Patrick Stewart is a Shakespearean actor at heart so this role was made for him. If you're going to watch an animated short like "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", please please please treat yourself to THE SNOWMAN (1982). On channel, off channel, I don't care. I just want you and your kids to experience the delight. Favourite Christmas Carol? I like anything that makes it feel like Christmas, but I think "Silent Night" is my fave. There's a lot of great Christmas songs, but my absolute favourite is "All Alone at Christmas" by the wonderful Darlene Love (Mrs Murtaugh in Lethal Weapon). Finally, the Clint poll. If you're going to stretch to watching the first 3, then you might aswell watch the first 4. That way, I'll get my Heartbreak Ridge too! (I'm sorry, I'm like Joey Tribbiani when he's offered a meatball sub or pizza and can only have one of them.)

Clarence Newman

Which time zone are you in for the 8pm Live for Thursday night? Happy Birthday, too! I was sick for my 50th birthday in October! I'm waiting until after the new year to reschedule the party!

fire12wife

Silent Night maybe. Away In A Manger is right up there too. I know there's at least one more favourite I'm forgetting...

Chris Clarke

It could also be Sicilian and she's watched The Godfather, John. I think she's erring on the side of caution.

Clarence Newman

Have you heard the Thalia/Micky Bubble version, Steve? It's one of my current favourites.

Clarence Newman

Cassie, you are copying me! I’m nearly always sick on my birthday, Christmas or any other holiday or important occasion. In fact I’m just starting to get a bad throat now, which is usually a sign for me to be ill over Xmas again🙄🤧 Honestly, don’t worry about getting videos up, we will still be here when you feel better. Take your time and look after yourself. Favourite Xmas song, probably”war is over”

Mark White

Belles of St Trinians? Alistair Sim in drag and George Cole as Flash Harry?

Clarence Newman

I've got some Libera - great music to mellow out to. I'd also recommend "All Angels", Stick. Their version of Coldplay's The Scientist is amazing.

Clarence Newman

Yep, one of my favourites too.

Mark White

For some reason Patrick Stewart in that hat looks kind of like young Richard Gere.

YodatheHobbit

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Judy Garland's and Billy Joel's versions are my favorite! I also love 'All I Want for Christmas is You' ...not the Mariah Carey song... the one by Vince Vance & The Valiants!

fire12wife

I’m on second week of this nasty flu and just started my vacation. Feeling almost normal again. Hope Ben is feeling better and hope you feel better soon. “O Holy Night” - Josh Groban. My favorite. If you love Josh Groban, then try “Christmas Tree” by V of BTS. V (aka Kim Taehyung) has such a deep and soulful voice. His tone is so unique. The song was written for the popular kdrama: “Our Beloved Summer.” He also just released a new rendition of “White Christmas” with Bing Crosby - who is his idol. The animated video is so cute - his beloved Pom (Yeontan) just passed away - so seeing him in the video it’s bittersweet.

Rose

She's reacted to a version of "A Christmas Carol" every year she's been on the channel so far, so I think there's a good chance she'll watch it next year.

Stick Figure Studios

Well that was a delightful song.

My_Cousin_Mose

Seriously not trying to be the "teachers pet" but same song by the same singer. I think Groban has the best voice since Elvis or Sinatra. Speaking of favorites, 1984's George C. Scott as Scrooge is mine.

Samuel Champ

Hope you feel better soon

Alex Gorell

Going classical, and for the visually-inclined, the "For unto us a Child is born" chorus from Handel's Messiah: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAGRRdjOy6A&list=PL2k8ekJXk4nXLCbHx5AteWsek1q3k0BfH&index=5 (The link includes a playlist. The famous Hallelujah chorus is at #17. Personally, I like sheep.)

Happy Hanukkah

Another one gets in the mood and it’s from a classic (in my opinion) 90’s Christmas movie…. https://youtu.be/nLYcmCbeQ-8?si=3ZrF8rkQlhHjN_YV

Anthony Carlson

If you insist on The First Noel, you could give your compatriots' take a try: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X43JtPGtyIA Steeleye Span's renditions of Gaudete and The Boar's Head Carol are unmissable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTbq2pPLW6I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROgCZ7RiBPw

Happy Hanukkah

Mine is also Oh Holy Night. However, Carol of the Bells from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a close second!

greggreggreg2000

@Daniel Transports me back to when I was a little kid and Mom would blast the Christmas songs. None take me back like that one though!

Cole Jennett

I always liked "Mary's Boy Child / Oh My Lord" by Boney M. :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qf2G7v8b2c

Happy Hanukkah

Happy Christmas (War is Over) has been my favorite ever since the first time I heard it. But I also like some versions of Carol of the Bells almost as much.

Daniel Goldberg

While I somewhat take issue with Scott's portrayal of Scrooge, it might be one of the most fully faithful adaptations of the Dickens novella, even including the 'Ignorance and Want' scene, which most adaptations omit. The cast also includes Susannah York (Superman's biological mother in the first 2 movies) as Mrs. Cratchit and Roger Rees (the Sheriff of Rottingham in "Robin Hood: Men in Tights") as Nephew Fred.

Byrd N. Hand

If you'll allow me to provide an alternate link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCpXMy5GalI (It's almost fitting that Mr. "White Christmas"'s final hit was this carol; he passed away before it was released. RIP Bing and Bowie.)

Happy Hanukkah

That will be special 😊

Dan M

lol, Dan

Cole Jennett

Same here Clay. My wife and I just watched it earlier tonight.

Dan M

Prospero ano y felicidad ☺️

Dan M

Love Happy Christmas (War is Over)! And the streak is over! 😉 Jimmy Buffet does a very faithful and very good version of it. Check it out. https://music.apple.com/us/album/happy-christmas/1440801130?i=1440801421

Dan M

It absolutely is the best version of A Christmas Carol.

V M

Hopefully she watches it next year.

Byrd N. Hand

Me and my brother used to mimic the dance that the kid in the orange shirt did at the dance in Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown. I don’t know the character’s name, but he had some funky moves. https://youtu.be/s1LUXQWzCno?si=7ne6wiIgQePOdhG_

Dan M

Frankly, if you've worked in retail for a certain number of holiday seasons, Christmas music starts to eventually annoy you to an extent. 🤔 That said, one song that generally *doesn't* get played to death this time of year is The Kinks' delightfully macabre "Father Christmas." 😏

Byrd N. Hand

It has to be 3, you really should see 'Mystic River', I'm very surprised it's coming in third but all the same, the other two are still great Eastwood movies.

JPDotCom23

Happy Birthday! 🍻

Dan M

Happy Belated Birthday, Cassie! And I’m so sorry you were sick on your special day! Please get some rest and eat lots of chicken soup…it’s good for the soul and the immune system. My favorite Christmas carol has always been Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. One of the oddest pairings in music history resulted in one of the most beautiful holiday songs ever. Lay back, close your eyes, and give it a listen…you’ll be smiling the whole way through. https://music.apple.com/us/album/peace-on-earth-little-drummer-boy/1705147159?i=1705148001 Please take some time to take care of yourself so you can be yourself as soon as possible. Don’t worry about being behind. We just want to see the Cassie we know and love. See you on Thursday.

Dan M

I love December birthdays, mines the 28th I'll celebrate extra with more watch alongs since you were sick for yours. I'm not sure about carols but Lindsey Stirling has an incredible version on her new album snow waltz of o come, o come emmanuel.

JohnnyUtah

Happy belated birthday! Hope you feel better soon. No work for me thursday so I'll see you then. And my favorite Christmas carol is hands down Angels We Have Heard on High.

I gotta go to sleep, but I'll check email in the morning.

Jon Johns

Is the one month free membership i signed up for from the YT live not able to do or see any?

M S

I have always loved Carol of the Bells in all its forms but I didn't know it was actually a Ukrainian folk song. Eileen on YouTube has an amazing version. https://youtu.be/GqeJ38DThVc?si=y-pNWUJZh8TIAQX2

Nathan Swapp

That was my introduction to the story too.

Stick Figure Studios

I always lked “Happy Christmas (War is Over)” by John Lennon

Clay F

Oh no! So sorry. Can you shoot me an email? I can set you up: jonjohns65@gmail.com

Jon Johns

Oh darn I can’t bc I gotta upgrade my tier, oh well….

John Struzziero

"Christmas is coming" is a real tow-tapper! 😉 https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=4uPPpdfn0x0&si=6m1PO78IDQ-JXaEE

Jon Johns

Get well soon, Cassie, and don't stress over things. For my favorite Christmas carol, I am old- school (because I am old, lol), I'll say the Nat King Cole's and the Bing Crosby's and the Charlie Brown/Vince Guaraldi's are my favorites. In these hectic times, though, I'll recommend the following links to calm the soul. Merry Christmas to you and yours! https://youtu.be/bpRq4i-XMmk?si=eVWyJ_VsIrFQePPp https://youtu.be/xpHiAmL8-b0?si=v-iC8lrarRnUBGDL https://youtu.be/B3zKSmPoIe8?si=9gUTcKbW3YV_MAPb

The first version of a Christmas Carol I watched was Mickey's A Christmas Carol 1983. Starring Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge. I then went on to love Duck Tales.

I will never see the word “independent” without saying it in my head annunciating all 4 syllables Also it would have explained the context of the end line from this scene in Perks of Being a Wallflower https://youtu.be/TzeGzgPNQeU?si=p4iE7rDsqGjnYbe2

Cole Jennett

All I see is Joe’s post

John Struzziero

I want to be a dentist

Jon Johns

It's two posts below this one.

Jon Johns

Love it.

Stick Figure Studios

That's the one. "O Holy Night" is playing when Kevin enters the church and "Carol of the Bells" is playing when he leaves.

Stick Figure Studios

My only Christmas music is Vince Guaraldi a Charlie Brown Christmas. "Christmas time is here" is my jam https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=krYNQKNR2G8&si=UoqiYA2Or9ScjlIQ

Jon Johns

My favorite Christmas carol is also "O Holy Night" but I prefer the version done by Libera (a boys choir). I also like the venison on the HOME ALONE soundtrack.

Stick Figure Studios

Whichever was playing during the church scene with the old neighbor was amazing. And so well timed to the movie.

Chris Thom

With this viewing of the Patrick Stewart CHRISTMAS CAROL, you will have watched a version of this story every year that the channel has been around (SCROOGED 3 years ago, MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL 2 years ago and the 1970 musical SCROOGE with Albert Finney last year). I think you should keep up this tradition. Lord knows there are plenty of other adaptations to react to. Next year I might recommend either the 1951 Alistair Sim film (often considered the definitive cinematic treatment of the Dickens tale), the 1984 TV movie with George C. Scott or the Robert Zemeckis/Jim Carrey CGI version. All are worth seeing.

Stick Figure Studios

The best version of A Christmas Carol is from 1951 starring Alister Sim.

William Brownlee

If Christmas movies are your thing, you can't go wrong with this older film adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott in the memorable role of Ebenezer Scrooge, and David Warner (Gul Madred from TNG "There are Four Lights!") as Bob Cratchit.

Robert N Douglass

That’s the one I assumed was coming too. Not peeved, just surprised

Cole Jennett

“Happy Christmas (War is Over)” by John Lennon has always been my favourite Christmas song. “Mary’s Boy Child” by Boney M is a close second. Hope you feel better!

Cole Jennett

Do you hear what I hear.

William Brownlee

Same. Also their version of "O Holy Night" brings tears to my eyes.

Stick Figure Studios

It Came Upon a Midnight Clear has alway been a favorite of mine. Or O Little Town of Bethlehem by Burl Ives.

Jakob Rygh

Hope you feel better soon! This is a great line-up. 🧑🏻‍🎄 My favorite Christmas song is Feliz Navidad by José Feliciano. I want to wish you a merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart, etc. 😊

Steve Holton

O Holy Night and Carol of the Bells by Lindsey Stirling are amazing. She has two Christmas albums that are fantastic.

Verteron

Happy belated birthday

Neil Varma

Get well all 🤞🙏❤️

Neil Varma

Chris Thom

Carol of the Bells from Home Alone gets me every time. John Williams is magic.

Chris Thom

Best Christmas carol is anything by Home Free.

Brent Petty

I didn’t realize it was your birthday Happy Belated Birthday Cassie! Sorry you were feeling under the weather. Hope you had a wonderful day regardless! Patrick Stewart in A Christmas Carol I had a feeling 😊

Robert da Spruce

My bank screwed me over big time too, Cassie! Whoever set up my debit card thought that it'd be hilarious to just put the letter b instead of my full name so of course fraud department shut down my card and now I have to wait until someone can help me tomorrow. Ugh. You'd think they would train somebody at fraud prevention to fix this crap. But, it can always be worse so SMILE!

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

I can’t believe she choose my reccomendation

John Struzziero

Get well soon. Right now I’d have to say my favorite is father Christmas by The Kinks. One of the best songs from their 1970s come back.
