Coming Right Up!

REmember remember the first week of November, or something like that.
Hey guys, hope you're having a great week so far. Hope your Halloween was fun and safe and that you got to see lots of cute kids in cute costumes. We had over 500 trick or treaters!! Can't believe we have an election, daylight savings and a Halloween hangover all in the same week!
I feel like my house/life/mind is chaos right now. I have a plan. In college when we would like a boy, my roommates and I would make a "Plan get your Man" and now as a thirty something hot mess of a mom, I am making a "PLAN GET YOUR LIFE TOGETHER!" Not as catchy, but hopefully more successful. This plan requires a lot of baby steps and the first step was to clean my disgusting minivan yesterday. CHECK freaking MARK! Today the step is to clean my room, put away all the laundry and organize one drawer in my kitchen. RIVETING stuff I know! Anyways thats my exciting week. WHO is with ME?!
Although much more exciting than picking up french fries between seat cracks is THIS WEEKS MOVIES!! I am so excited for all 3, all very different, but all highly requested and anticipated!
I also just posted this SEQUEL SHOWDOWN POLL, it is going to be TIGHT! Go Vote (on both things today youknowhwatimean?)
Also we OFFICIALLY released the podcast last week, Popcorn to go! Thank you all so much who have watched/listened/subscribed/patreoned. The feedback has been so great and we are excited about this little side talkie talkie.
Ok I think that's all! I know today might be cray cray and a lot of people are anxious nervous. I just keep telling myself that no matter who wins I can only control myself. I can be a peacemaker, be kind, try to raise good kids and be of service as much as I can!
Thank you all for everything!
Cassie

2024-11-07 12:54:31 +0000 UTCOK, I've just had a great idea. Most of us who actually like Cassie would probably agree that the jolly japesters on Youtube who voted for Howard the Duck were mostly trolls who just wanted to give her the worst movie they could find to watch. Cassie is a woman of her word so she's stuck with having to watch it, but I've got the perfect way she can get back at the Youtubers who recommended it. Make it Patreon only. 😆
Clarence Newman
2024-11-07 11:58:20 +0000 UTC@inspectordh. The very mention of Star Trek sometimes triggers some PTSD on here. Some of us Trekkies get carried away and start to twitch when there's no Trek on the channel, so we suggest that Cassie watch everything from the animated series to Babylon 5 (Chekov's in it) and even the new crap, so it can never end. Problem is, the non-Trekkies who've responded to this post have been twitching for nearly a year because a) there has been a LOT of Trek on the channel, and b) they're clearly well prejudiced against Vulcans. We've tried to get them cancelled but they're protected by the annoying quality of having a point. For you personally, who innocently walked into the middle of an ongoing punch-up, we need to return to the original spirit of your post.... First Contact! Woo-woooo!!
Clarence Newman
2024-11-07 10:34:44 +0000 UTCOne of Cassie's HUGE failings as a human being is that she dared to watch some great movies that weren't rom-coms before she started the channel. With no consideration whatsoever for her future patrons! We've all been suffering ever since.
Clarence Newman
2024-11-07 09:57:22 +0000 UTClol Cassie your "Plan to get your man" sounds a bit like stalking... just sayin' :P

2024-11-07 09:29:09 +0000 UTCI've recommended Seven Year Itch, William. I rewatched it a couple of months ago and was reminded of how fun and funny it is. I would also recommend Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
Clarence Newman
2024-11-07 08:14:41 +0000 UTCAs for not getting the odd in-joke in First Contact, it won't even cause a ripple in her enjoyment.
Clarence Newman
2024-11-07 08:12:51 +0000 UTCYeah, that's not happening, Bryan. Cassie's initial Star Trek journey always had set milestones - a few original Trek episodes, then the original movies, then a few episodes from every season of TNG, then the TNG movies, then the Chris Pine movies, and done. She'll come back to Trek in a year or so's time, I have no doubt, and maybe then she'll watch DS9. It's a tough one, though, because while you can cherry pick episodes from TOS & TNG, DS9 is more of a story arc. We'll have to see.
Clarence Newman
2024-11-07 08:12:04 +0000 UTCYes I've been recommending that for years.. FINALLY!!! Can't wait

2024-11-07 03:06:23 +0000 UTCThis is a better post than most of us deserve! And hopefully "An Officer And A Gentleman" will lead to "First Knight" - the final leg in Richard Gere's "trinity of romance" along with "Pretty Woman", which Cassie has seen. Maybe TMI, but every time my ex-wife would get one of those out, I knew I was on the clock.

2024-11-06 03:07:07 +0000 UTCWay more of a tender November movie I agree. I don’t even know why Coming to America was even on a poll for this, it’s a comedy sure, but I wouldn’t exactly call it a “tender” movie. The Peanut Butter Falcon is the epitome of a tender movie.
shaneth138
2024-11-06 03:01:51 +0000 UTCYeah but this movie in particular is about a kid with down syndrome and Cassie even said on a live that she realllyy wants to watch it because her sister is special needs. So it’s more than me just saying, “please watch this movie because I like it.” This is me saying, if you want to watch it you should, because voters will never vote for something post 2010 despite her being way more into movies like The Peanut Butter Falcon.

Clay F
2024-11-06 02:54:37 +0000 UTCThe Peanut Butter Falcon (2019) is definitely more a tender November movie than Coming to America. The connections between the 3 main characters are very tender. Also, The Peanut Butter Falcon arguably does more for Down syndrome people than any movie in history. Plus, The Peanut Butter Falcon is entertaining and an awesome movie. Has the beautiful Dakota Johnson who is the daughter of Melanie Griffith starring in Working Girl (1988) another candidate in the poll. You can see movements and mannerisms of Dakota Johnson in Melanie Griffith. IMDb 7.6, Metacritic 70%, RT 95% (audience 96%) = The PBF (2019) IMDb 7.1, Metacritic 47%, RT 73% (audience 85%) = C to A (1988)

2024-11-05 23:12:33 +0000 UTCTo be honest, it was the beginning of the Star Trek burnout. Enterprise ended 3 years after Nemesis (With just 5 seasons). That’s what happens when you put too many shows and movies over a short span of time. I feared the MCU was going to experience this.

2024-11-05 21:59:12 +0000 UTCDefinitely not the minority. Most people consider it the best of the TNG movies if not the best Star Trek movie of all.

2024-11-05 21:59:01 +0000 UTCCOMING TO AMERICA is kind of fun. I can see you enjoying it. FIRST CONTACT has been a long time coming and it's going to make a lot of people very happy. The one I am most excited about though is SOME LIKE IT HOT. One of the greatest comedies ever to come out of Hollywood. Jack Lemmon (from GRUMPY OLD MEN) and Tony Curtis (Jamie Lee Curtis's father) are both hysterical and the iconic Marilyn Monroe makes her first appearance on the channel. A true classic for a reason. I'm looking forward to that reaction.

2024-11-05 21:52:28 +0000 UTCThis is one of the greatest PiB weeks ever. Just look at that line up of hit movies! Eddie, and Marilyn and the Borg, oh my! I live in extreme anticipation!!!

2024-11-05 21:50:06 +0000 UTCI would go for this or another true portrayal of Veterans. Something like Patton, The Outpost, or American Sniper.

2024-11-05 21:39:06 +0000 UTCI love "Some Like It Hot". A screwball comedy. With Marilyn Monroe. I hope you enjoy this movie. I hope others decide to watch the whole movie. I hope you recognize Jack Lemmon. I didn't watch any of the horror movies, but really looking forward to this one.
William Brownlee
2024-11-05 21:11:18 +0000 UTCI know you probably won’t see this in the sea of comments you get but I think you should just watch The Peanut Butter Falcon regardless of poll results. That movie will never win a poll but will be more important to you than a movie like Coming To America ever will.

2024-11-05 20:23:06 +0000 UTCFor what it’s worth, first contact was the very first Star Trek thing in general I watched. I was able to follow along and enjoy it. In fact, it’s what got me into Star Trek.

2024-11-05 20:05:15 +0000 UTC"perhaps in the distant future i'll start the series" (Next Generation) Start on Season 3, get seasons 1 and 2 later. But to answer the question, you'll be fine. Movie producers (except, maybe, modern Marvel) don't make movies that require watching hundreds of episodes to "keep up".

2024-11-05 19:35:56 +0000 UTC"Remember remember, the 5th of November" that's how the line goes lol! Just so happens today is one of my best friends birthday today, my Canadian best friend lol! That is a movie, V FOR VENDETTA, that you should react to someday! Unfortunately, my Halloween was a bore, I never get trick or treaters in my neighborhood even though I put candy out just in case, my neighborhood is practically a graveyard (pun intended) lol😂 However, recently I went to an Anime convention in Pasadena, CA! I cosplayed my favorite character Kirito from SAO (Sword Art Online) not that I expect you to know who that is, but that's okay lol! I even got to meet several of my favorite anime voice actors there too, took lots of pictures that I would so love to show you, my friends were with me as well, we had a lot of fun! I do so hope you and the family had a wonderful, fun, and safe Halloween, I really liked your Goldie Hawn costume from OVERBOARD that you shared in your last update, you nailed it! No offence to lovely Goldie Hawn, but she's got nothing on you lol😇 If I may, since as you said in your college days for "Plan get your Man", help with the rhyme for your new one, "PLAN GET YOUR LIFE TOGETHER IF YOU CAN", not trying to sound discouraging, it just helps the rhyme LOL🤣🙏 And I'm with ya every step of the way lol😁✌ I'm really looking forward to your full-length reaction of COMING TO AMERICA, that's such a classic, and your YT-Edit of WHAT LIES BENEATH, guilty as charged I couldn't help but laugh at you and Carly's jumpscares LMHO (Laugh My Head Off)🤣🤣🤣 I saw your sequels poll and I voted, those are all great sequels, but my vote is for AUSTIN POWERS THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME, I'm just so eager for you to see that one, not only because it's just as hilarious as the first one, but I'm also eager to see you react to the third one (my favorite) because of certain moments that I just can't wait to see the look on your face to see how shocked you'll be, I'll be laughing so hard I'll probably fall out of my chair lol! Me personally, I do so hope you'll react to sequels like RAMBO 2, PREDATOR 2, BLADE 2, etc. those are awesome sequels, despite what I'm sure most would say lol! On a side note, there's one childhood fantasy favorite movie you had on a voting poll a long time ago that I so hope you will react to someday, and I know you (and Carly if she joins in) will love it, the fantasy movie WILLOW, it's a classic! I'm sorry, but I haven't seen you Podcast "yet"! Glad you're doing well Cassie, looking forward to your future reactions! Love and support always, you and Carly are the best, take care and God bless y'all and the family🥰😇🙏😁😉🤗👍✌🌹

2024-11-05 19:14:39 +0000 UTCThis line up of movies is fantastic! I’m pumped for all 3! Remember, remember the first 3 movies of November! I love that you have a plan of attack for life’s hurdles, Cassie. I’ve tried and tried to do the same thing for so many years , but life always seems to throw a curveball when I least expect it, and the steps in my plans start to fall like dominoes in a straight line. Not that I don’t plan ahead anymore, but now I try to have a plan B, a plan C, and a plan D. “Life is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans” - John Lennon

Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, 'twas his intent To blow up the King and the Parliament Three score barrels of powder below Poor old England to overthrow By God's providence he was catch'd With a dark lantern and burning match Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring Holler boys, holler boys God save the King!

2024-11-05 19:12:21 +0000 UTCI can't wait for your reaction to Some Like It Hot (1958). There is a really great BBC Scene by Scene interview with the late, great actor Jack Lemmon. He talks about Some Like It Hot (1958) at 13:32 but he also talks about other great films he made including The Apartment (1960), Save the Tiger (1973) and Glengarry Glen Ross (1992). Also at 37:35, there is a very powerful, profound moment where Jack Lemmon describes taking a trip to Berlin in 1960, with Billy Wilder, (on a day off from doing publicity for The Apartment (1960)) and seeing the ravaged houses that were once Jewish homes ("There were bullet marks all over, like the buildings had measles.."). Trust me, it is one of the most profound, moving anecdotes you will ever hear in an interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-L4Odes8Oc

2024-11-05 19:09:07 +0000 UTCLooking forward to First Contact and Some Like it Hot. As I said on Discord, the Eddie Murphy star power (independent of how good or entertaining the movie) contributed to the inflated number of votes in the poll for Coming to America, which is not a horrible movie but not the best early Eddie Murphy movie. Have the tissues ready -- the accent may drive you to tears. Eddie Murphy is a comic genius -- thus good to watch for that reason.

2024-11-05 19:00:31 +0000 UTCThere is a general rule against discussing politics. She didn't make of point of it. This is what she said in the text above: "I know today might be cray cray and a lot of people are anxious nervous. I just keep telling myself that no matter who wins I can only control myself.
