Tender November Poll

Ok wow guys, we did it! I have officially watched my last spooky movie for October and I need this poll, I really do! I just want to lay in my bed and watch all of these haha.

There is going to be two polls. Tender November (post 1970) and Tender November (pre 1970) So make sure to vote on both.

This will end on Friday 11/1, you can vote multiple times

Comments

Peanut Butter falcon is an awesome movie.

Clay F

Don't worry, guys, I've got a plan in place if Cassie fails us by not watching Officer and a Gentleman. " I'm 'Enery the Eighth I am, 'Enery the Eighth I am I am. I got married to the widow next door, she's been married seven times before, and every one was an 'Enery ('Enery!), she wouldn't have a Willie or a Sam. I'm 'er eighth old man, I'm 'Enery. 'Enery the Eighth I am. Second verse, same as the first!......."

Clarence Newman

I see what ya did there. LOL!

Art of Free Speech

she still may watch it... ♪ Who knows.. what tomorrow brings..... ♬

rakesh

Again, I ask for movie not a prediction. PS: I saw that one, didn't like it, thanks.

ArturoH

Civil War 2024

Vlad D

So sad to see Officer and Gentleman not win. It was the movie which made me want to become a military aviator (which I did).

Art of Free Speech

I would like to see a reaction to "A Walk to Remember".

NJC

Peanut Butter falcon is awesome fyi! I didn't look up much about it and my boss highly recommended it. Me and the wife watched it and LOVED IT. Such a heartwarming movies. Its a twist on Tom and Huck in my opinion.

JD

If you loved Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, you'll love her Sense and Sensibility. Btw, though, your poll indicated it's from 1985 -- that must be a typo, it came out in 1995.

BriGuy

Should check out Grave of the Fireflies. Cant get more tender than that. Hopefully in a future November.

ROACH

You should check out the Peanut Butter Falcon. Read the synopsis of the movie and if it peaks your interest, I’m sure you’ll like it

ChristopherTracy

I ask for movies, not a documentary.

ArturoH

This is such a good movie 👍🏼

ChristopherTracy

This poll has a lot of good movies, you really can’t go wrong. Watch them all! lol Did not vote for Peanut Butter Falcon, but it is such a good movie. Very underrated or hidden gem kind of movie in my opinion

ChristopherTracy

FINALLY!!! Moonstruck made it to the polls 👏👏👏👏👏😀

Larry

Coming to America is a really fun movie, but doesn't fit this poll.

Jeff Rogers

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mike LL

"You can be all the things... youve always wanted to be... Beautiful, sexy, easy as 1,2,3..." "Just let it shine through, yeah Just let your soul glo" "Just let your soul glo, baby feeling oh so silky smooth" "Just let it shine through, yeah.. Just let your soul glo" "Soul glo"

Jens Kristensen

Idiocracy

Richard Maurer

And for the winning side - whoever that may be - Anchorman ("You stay classy")

2-Can

Even better.

Clarence Newman

Haven't seen "Message in a Bottle" yet, but when it comes to Costner - I gotta go with his team up with Clint Eastwood in "A Perfect World"

bgb1975

That’s not a movie a rom-com/Christmas fanatic would ever have missed. It is “THE” Christmas Rom-Com

Cole Jennett

That would be acceptable if Officer and a Gentleman is the winner. Otherwise....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Clarence Newman

Hold up Nellie, what if she only reacts to the winner?

Joe

This is how Cassie just read your post: "Kevin Costner's...Yep, add that one to the list!"

Clarence Newman

I've got that beat, Miguel. When my Mum was 6 months pregnant with me, she walked past Ringo Starr in the street!

Clarence Newman

She probably watches that one every Christmas, Monte. It's on her watched list, that's for sure.

Clarence Newman

Hi Cassie. I hope you watch the runner ups as well. Officer and a Gentleman is definitely a you and Carley movie

Vlad D

I remember the child actress being really good in it. But yeah it's one of the ultimate Sandra Bullock movies.

Chris Thom

Oh I was thinking of Fish Called Wanda.

Chris Thom

Bulworth

Chris Thom

Where's "Love Actually?" Maybe Caiise plans to include it as one of this year's Christmas choices?

Monte Durbin

Clarence, I’m a Yorkshire lad from Sheffield where The Full Monty was filmed lol. Some of that message to Brett did sound I bit more Yorkshire. But Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester aren’t too far away from each other.

Dean Holt

I think Carly would like it also.

Rick Williams

Dean, good points. I am not a huge fan of the four movies you mention. I am not a huge fan of Officer and a Gentleman or Sense and Sensibility but think Sense and Sensibility is the best quality movie in the poll. An Officer and a Gentleman is a movie that was part of our culture and worth to watch for that reason. I was age 19 when the movie was released in 1982. My ex-wife and daughter like Officer and a Gentleman. I think Cassie would very much like the ending (which is important to her). I am not a huge fan of Coming to America or Beverly Hills Cop, but Eddie Murphy is a comic genuis and worth to watch for that reason. I like 48 Hours and Trading Places the best of the early Eddie Murphy. Beverly Hills Cop is good. Coming to America my last choice. My personal favorite in the poll is Peanut Butter Falcon.

Clay F

Oh the humanity.

Mark Duedall

Sorry I voted for Coming to America 😂😂

Dean Holt

I definitely agree about Howard the Duck 🤦🏻‍♂️, but I’m going to be very interesting to see what she thinks of it. Especially a particular very weird scene 😂😂.

Dean Holt

Well most of the Horror polls were won by superhero type movies that weren’t really horror films lol. So I thought I’d vote for Coming to America which kinda doesn’t really belong on the list 😂. But I yeah I’m with you on just watching comedy film in November.

Dean Holt

I know everyone has there own taste in movies. And even though I voted for Coming to America I kinda agree with a few other that say it doesn’t really belong on the list. But for me it’s the best film and I’ve been wanting to see Cassie react to it and Beverly Hills Cop for years. But the worst two on the list for me would be Officer and a Gentleman as I just thought it was so boring. it didn’t help that I’m not a Richard Gere fan i just think he’s so overrated. The other is Sense and Sensibility as I just don’t like period drama’s, them and Musical’s are the two worst genres for me as I just don’t find them interesting and a bit annoying lol.

Dean Holt

She probably would like that. I think she's going to have to just choose some of these without a poll if she's ever going to watch things she'll really enjoy.

Chris Thom

Went to school with the writer/director for Peanut Butter Falcon... thats it, thats the message. I have nothing else to add....

Miguel

Every shot is perfect composition.

Catherine LW

The Candidate

Carol_White

Oh it's happening, Tara. We all know Officer and a Gentleman is a Made-For-Cassie movie.

Clarence Newman

Poetic, Kevin. A great way to say that this is Eddie at his very best!

Clarence Newman

Coming To America well out in front, with Officer and a Gentleman a comfortable, cosy second place. I'm off to do some Gangnam Style down the hallway.

Clarence Newman

There are a lot of good choices on this poll, but I'm surprised that "Out of Africa" isn't getting more love. Compelling story, beautiful cinematography, fabulous score. Knowing their mutual soft spot for romance stories, I think this would be a great one to watch with Carly!

Michael Gilbrook

Kevin Costner’s “Message in a bottle” would be another good one for November.

John P Tucker

I came here to say V for Vendetta.

Jon

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Dedicated to the losing side - whichever that is - could be an election day perennial (if we let it . . . )

2-Can

I haven’t spoken about politics at all. I’m allowed to have whatever profile pic I want. Neither Cassie nor the moderators have said anything about it. If you have a problem with it, it just speaks volumes about what kind of human being you are.

Shehab Dawoud

Would be nice if this page was a politics free zone.

ShazD

@Richard, Joe Piscopo has entered the chat. 😆

Joe

Always one film to cook the polls, one film to rule them all (haha).

Joe

Seconded. Especially with Veteran's Day coming up!

bgb1975

Any recommendation for election week? - Welcome to Moosport (2004) - V for Vendetta (2005)

ArturoH

I do hope she watches the winner and runner up to both polls.

Mike LL

I’ve seen it a few times and find it very sad overall. Has sort of a depressed feel to me.

Kristen

Cassie, here’s what you can do. Watch the winner and runner up and then make each of the others your PPOTM. Honestly, these are all great and I know you will love the ones that I’ve seen. Although, Coming to America should have been on a Comedy poll

Tara

I agree. Cassie and Carly would love August Rush. We all know how Cassie feels about cute kids. He’s also in Finding Neverland with Johnny Depp

Tara

it was on a poll, but didn't win.

Kristin D

Come on people… Cassie has questioned about Richard Gere before Pretty Woman. Please vote for An Officer and a Gentleman

Tara

I can’t get past the, you know what in it…

Kyle

I finally watched Working Girl for the first time in 2020 and it gave me hope which I didn't expect to find in trying to succeed at one's chosen career and proving your doubters wrong that I hadn't felt in a very long time. If I need to feel inspired I either watch the intro movie shot or the music video for the intro song. It's not even my kind of music, but it's quite empowering. Guess it reminds me of my mom with me 9, my brother 5, freshly divorced, having just moved to Temecula to find us a better life, right next to the evolving Pechanga Casino, selling her art, running Child Care services out of our home, working hard to keep us going until she met my stepdad.

YodatheHobbit

Hope Floats is probably one of Sandra Bullocks best! And if this isn’t a Popcorn movie, then nothing is! My wife is just blown away right now. Maybe it’s the age thing, but hasn’t anyone here seen it?

Tim Foppiano

"Coming to America". Silly, quotable and home to one of the best made for movie commercial jingles of all time. It marks a sweet spot in Eddie Murphy's Iconic comedy career. This film is meant for laughs, and delivers consistent warm tones, which truly embodies the comedy comfort of the 80's. Liked by most, loved by many, it has become a nostalgic comedy that is better seen, than not.

Kevin Kuma

Peanut Butter Falcon is one of my all time favorites! I hope it makes it to future lists.

Derek Crump

Sixteen Candles!! If you have never seen it, you simply MUST! It is as GenX as anything you can ever seen (along with Breakfast Club)

M. Callari

I'm happy to see An Officer And A Gentleman and Peanut Butter Falcon it's some of my favorites

Danny

I thought about sitting out Tender November again but then saw Coming To America was in the lead!! RIP James Earl Jones!!❤️❤️❤️

Todzilla

😐🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️🤷

BRT

Yeah I'm pretty shocked at that. Actually think she may've put that there by mistake.

Chris Thom

PBF is a pretty charming, offbeat movie. Shia LeBeouf.

Chris Thom

I thought she did that already. With Kevin Klein?

Chris Thom

I would like to do a write in for French Kiss....

Kristin D

i think you could get some tenders at mcdowells 😂

Dan W

I believe Cassie has said Pride and Prejudice is a top all time favorite of hers. Shocking she hasn't seen Sence and Sensibility.

Shawn Kildal

All of these should be on your must watch list Cassie!! The only exception being Peanut Butter Falcon because I haven't seen that one to know.

Andrew Rose

Ironically, the least tender movie, Coming To America, is winning this poll. Cassie, thank you for adding a movie from Carly's Romantic List. :)

Mark Vaderr

It’s a good comedy, but it really doesn’t fit in with the Tender November theme.

Dan M

Let the River Run! For Working Girl!

Ricardo Rodriguez

I’ve got a soft spot for Tender and Romantic films and when I got Covid a few years ago, I gathered up all my favorite Comfortable films in order to watch, while I battled a fever, which lasted a whole week. It really helped. Two of these films were part of that bundle. Moonstruck (1987) & Working Girl (1988) Perfect for this time of year.

Larry Darrell

#12 Octobers

Richard Maurer

Ouch, she got us again. 🙄

Joe

Straw Dogs is...also not that tender.

Chris Thom

I never said it was. I just called it a "decent film." I didn't put it on the poll and I definitely didn't vote for it. Nevertheless it's still going to win... and that's okay. There are certainly far worse films coming around the corner (*cough* HOWARD THE DUCK *cough*).

Stick Figure Studios

I can honestly say that this is a very strong list. Even films that don't fit the theme are still good movies that I'm sure PIB will enjoy. Everyone has their favorites, obviously, and mine is Working Girl. I have always been a Harrison Ford fan and this is a fantastic role for him. I know when they get around to watching it, they will love it (and him) too.

Walter

A fantastic film with 4 awesome performances. Cassie and Carley will love it...eventually. Before that I guess they will be watching the - apparently - "tender" Coming To America...

Walter

Tell me please, how is it a November/Thanksgiving movie?

Celeste McAllister

more tender than Coming To America, for sure

Walter

And I love that for you Audrey♡ :)

Celeste McAllister

It is what it is but I’m actually happy with this one😁 But I understand if you’re a rom-com fan you’d be disappointed.

Shehab Dawoud

Seems like we almost always do.

Richard Maurer

I’ve thought the same thing Shehab. When I joined the channel, I assumed She had someone who knew films helping her with selections. I figured it was Ben. But, many polls like these later, I figure She’s doing it on her own. It wouldn’t hurt to have an unbiased film buff to act as a buffer, to help filter all the films into the proper categories. Instead of one day, wanting to watch a Tender and Lite film on a whim (which she has done before) and putting in The Maltese Falcon or Out of Africa to watch.

Larry Darrell

Working Girl for sure, Harrison of course. Never heard of Peanut Butter Falcon. Not sure if I ve seen Hope Floats or not, maybe.

John

Great poll, Cassie. All of these are good movies that you would enjoy. I know it's not winning, but I hope that (even if you don't watch it on the channel,) you will watch Peanut Butter Falcon at some point. I'm confident that if you liked Rain Man, you will enjoy it.

Michael West

That’s true!! Didn’t think of that!

Julie Chittenden

#NoOctober

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

I think we got a Ringer here. 🤨

Larry Darrell

Moonstruck is hilarious and romantic. An Officer and a Gentleman is an iconic film from when Debra Winger was at the height of her wicked powers. Really this poll should include her film Cannery Row which is my favorite film of hers.

Lucien

Oh my goodness!!! Cassie has never seen Richard Gere before he became a “silver fox” An Officer and a Gentleman for sure. Then there’s Sixteen Candles. It is a crime that Cassie hasn’t seen this classic 80’s John Hughes movie!! No matter the outcome, Cassie… these two are a MUST!!

Tara

Exactly! Which is why they should all be watched in a theme week.

Dan M

Sense and Sensibility 1000%! Jane Austen needs to be watched and S&S is a good one! I wish it were Emma, tho

Cathleen Jennings

It's really great. So heartfelt. I love it.

Godzilla Jones

Absolutely. This has their names written all over it

Dissonant Bard

And it has a particular actor Cassie has a soft spot for.

Mark White

I love howard the duck!!

Audrey

Agreed on Peanut Butter Falcon! Not sure what happened with promoting that movie when it first came out…so many have not seen it, or heard of it actually. I think some people stayed away from it because shia is in it. I don’t pay attention to his personal life or his “weird behavior” as many individuals will say… he is an incredibly talented actor. I personally think that you should have won an award for peanut butter, falcon, and fury.

Audrey

Are you guys suggesting Cassie doesn’t like swearing?! Is she Steve Rogers in disguise? “Language!”😆

Mark White

Agreed!!

Audrey

Brett, I got the sarcasm!😆 I was just agreeing with you. It’s unlike me not to continue the sarcasm! I must be coming down with something! 😅

Mark White

They'd both love it, no question

Paul Stelter

#Second October.

Richard Maurer

?

Shehab Dawoud

Sense and Sensibility is 95 not 85 and it is spectacular

DAVID COSTELLO

I see your 🙄 and raise you a 😑

Ace Degenerate

That was my sarcasm getting lost again, Mark... but I won't expand on that because spoilers take all forms. I like both films btw.

Brett Richey

Saturday night fever is most defiantly not tender! I think most people remember the Bee Gees soundtrack and the dancing. But in between all that it’s quite gritty and there are some tough scenes as well. Good movie though.

Mark White

I’d love to have seen ‘Harvey’ on this list.

Biggman83

I will never pass up an opportunity to endorse The Full Monty. Cassie would love it!

Clarence Newman

I can not believe you have never seen Hope Floats.

James Reeves

Peanut Butter Falcon is soooo good. Shia is outstanding in this movie. This movie is perfect for Nov- tender, moving, emotional at times… but will also make you laugh at times.

Audrey

I was just thinking that…it’s a random choice against the rest of the list.

Biggman83

'cause it's the best comedy on the list.

crazyivan

By dox I meant don't give your identity away on here. But anyway, nice to meet your acquaintance and 'softie' or not we English have the best humour. Tea or Dinner, we all know which side our bread is buttered. Here's hoping for a few nice British films Cassie would appreciate down the line... The Full Monty, maybe Brassed Off etc... We'll see.

Brett Richey

It'd be nice if Coming to America just gets watched as a tribute to both James Earl Jones and John Amos, and and the second-place movie on this poll gets watched as the actual "Tender November" winner. I like CtA okay but I don't know how tender it truly is.

Tyler Foster

You may jest, my friend!

Clarence Newman

🙄

ShazD

Why on earth is Coming to America included?

ShazD

This is a great list for you Cassie. You would enjoy any of these. Coming to America is funny. But if there is a time for you to continue your habit of watching runner ups as well, now is the time, as I really think you and Carly would love An officer and A Gentleman (if it finish’s second) Plus if you don’t watch an officer and a gentleman, Clarence Newman might loose his mind! 🤪😂

Mark White

The contrarian in me immediately wanted to disagree that it’s his funniest movie… but when you’re right you’re right 😂😂

Ace Degenerate

I also went with the assumption she meant the 95 movie and it SHOULD get a lot more votes. I think Carly would really enjoy it too!

Eli van Aggelen

I am a Southern Softie, mate - a Kentish Man originally (or Man of Kent, I could never figure which), but have since emigrated to the wilds of Hampshire. I used to have a Mancunian friend, who taught me a few 'sens' and 'doxxes'. 'E was mad fer it, 'e were.

Clarence Newman

Although I'm personally happy that 'Coming To America' is winning, I see people are having issues with it and other movies being on these two polls. I 100% get it. The same thing happened in the October polls where some movies had no business being on there. I'm not sure exactly who is putting the polls together, but is it too much to ask for that they be a little bit more meticulous and thorough in the research? If not, then maybe hand over the responsibility to someone else.

Shehab Dawoud

lmao

Nadeem L

Absolutely Coming to America all day every day. Hopefully one day we will see movies like Harlem Nights, Waiting to Exhale, Dead Presidents, 5 Heartbeats, Higher Learning, The Wood, The Inkwell, Love and Baskeball, and Love Jones start making the polls more often and not just during Black History Month!

Ace Degenerate

Coming to America? You’ve got to be kidding.

Thomas Thompson

Haha... brilliant! Actually am from up road Oldham like, but don't tell no one will ya. To prove it a call it a muffin and not a balm. 'Thysen' sounds more Yorksheer to me... you a Yorksheer lad, Leeds like... or a yer Lancasheer 😉 Don't doxx yersen on my account 😄

Brett Richey

Oh my God! You expect me to pick just one?

Thomas Thompson

Peter Jackson’s King Kong is a tender movie - should be on this poll.

Richard Maurer

Are Pauly Shore movies better or worse than Ernest movies? Personally I’d say slightly better, which would put them one rung above the bottom of the barrel.

Richard Maurer

Good one Celeste! 🤣🤣🤣

Dan M

Heartbreak Ridge (1986). Clint as a grizzled old Gunnery Sergeant whipping a platoon of misfits into shape.

Clarence Newman

Coming to America is a really funny movie which I’m sure Cassie and Carly would love, but I agree it probably shouldn’t be in a Tender November poll. It’s better suited for a pure comedy poll.

Dan M

Well Rene not even as a joke referring to my god given name as a sadistic cult leader is grossly wrong!

John Liebling

Solid choices all around. Seen all of them. Love all of them. I'm torn a bit cause I'd want all of them to win. 😁

Zane From Canada

Great list but I'm crossing my fingers for An Officer and a Gentleman.

Stuart Guthrie Jr.

Don't worry, Brett, I speak Mancunian. Hear all, see all, say nowt, tak' all, keep all, gie nowt, and if tha ever does owt for nowt do it for thysen.

Clarence Newman

Love this movie. And it would a good pairing with School Ties (also with Brendan Fraser). Maybe a theme week later in November. With Honors, School Ties, Dead Poets Society, and Lean on Me. Back to School week.

Dan M

As much as I love the fact that we're going to get a coming to America reaction I'm almost interested myself in watching some of the movies that I haven't watched

Canadianant

Wonderful film.

Stick Figure Studios

A complete pallet cleanser for Cassie and Carly so far.

Dan M

I think we'd all get canceled if we told Cassie to watch delirious or Raw. Lol

Canadianant

Oof…this is tough! An Officer and a Gentle and Sixteen Candles are both high on my list, and both are perfect for Tender November. So since Officer already has a lead over Sixteen Candles, I’m voting for 16C. I’ll be totally fine with either one. While Coming To America is a really funny movie, I don’t consider it to be a tender movie. I don’t think Eddie Murphy and tender go hand in hand. This could have been placed in a Comedy poll or an Eddie Murphy poll. It’s definitely a case of “one of these things is not like the others”.

Dan M

John Liebling or Johny Favorite? :-)

René Ferland

I agree 100% !

René Ferland

. . . "'Son in law' will look like "The Lion in Winter" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mike LL

Both ladies would love all that kind of stuff.

Clarence Newman

I agree. but as they're 1 & 2 in the poll right now, I'm not complaining.

Clarence Newman

If you want the mother of all tender movies, though - the apex, apotheosis, pinnacle and peak of tender movies, there is no getting away from THE CHAMP (1979). It has THE most tender relationship between a father and son. If you want to see Cassie (and Carly) all puffy eyed, quiver-lipped and buried in a mound of tender tissues, THE CHAMP needs to get some love. Also, Cassandra, if my Youtube searches are to be believed, you would be the FIRST reactor to react to it in the history of ever.

Clarence Newman

You're 100% right on that scale - however, Coming to America is an amazing movie that I'm dying for her to watch lol

Wallace Marbach

I'd be happy for Cassie for calling an audible on either Moonstruck or Working Girl (but I'd like a Cary audible, too!).

Mike LL

*I'm 👀

Brett Richey

*no need for 'a' before particular but now in giving away one of my OCDs. Nice chat ☺️

Brett Richey

Me too... I'm not knocking it. And it has a particular uplifting and motivated moments (you know which ones)... like I said... I'll watch owt me - I'm from Manchester in England and that's how we say 'I'll watch anything I will' btw. And If Cassie is watching then I actually will because I just like watching stuff with her no matter what. She's kinda the best reactor out there. You always get genuine and genuine is very rare these days.

Brett Richey

You really need to add EMMA (1996) with Gwyneth Paltrow; guarantee Carly will like it too (if she hasn't already seen it)

Paul Stelter

Fool of a Took!

Clarence Newman

Each to their own, Tom. Personally, I didn't love 48 Hours (not Eddie's fault - it was Nolte, I think) and Raw was far inferior to Delirious. But Coming To America I loved.

Clarence Newman

Love for Cassie and Carly to watch the Robin Williams film The Bicentennial Man

John Liebling

In regards to a tender movie, in what universe could Coming to America out shine An Officer and a Gentleman.

John Liebling

An Officer and a Gentleman has it's tender moments. For instance, one particular tender scene (you know which one) -- my ex-wife and daugther love.

Clay F

No heavier than A Few Good Men, though, and Cassie loved that one.

Clarence Newman

Coming to America. I'm pleased to see Moonstruck on this list, it doesn't get much attention. It's a slow, even boring at times, build to a great ending.

Chris Brown

Yeah I know, after 'Howard the Duck', 'Son in law' will look like "The Lion in Winter'.😎 take a look at Roger Eberts review in 'Your Movie Sucks'...I sent Cassie that book, glad to do it! 😆 :)

Celeste McAllister

I think the date is incorrect for Sense & Sensibility. If it's the movie starring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet, it should be 1995 not 1985. (And it should get a lot more votes too!)

Silver Machine

I think I was being sarcastic (without spoilers)... but I'm a fan of an Officer and Saturday Night. I think really it all boils down to each individual's perception on 'tender'... and to be fair... there is no right answer.

Brett Richey

I am willing to bet right now that the first words out of her mouth in the outro will be, "How have I not seen this?"

Clarence Newman

I know that Cassie would love Sense and sensibility (assuming it's 1995) that's my favorite on this list, but I'm happy she's getting such good options for her this month.

clutchkman

it's great. I'm due for a rewatch of that, actually. Joan Cusack steals the film (as per her norm).

Matt Rose

love Working Girl. Cassie would really love it too. She'll get to it eventually.

Walter

And Saturday Night Fever is a good shout too.

Clarence Newman

And with added poignancy as it was his last screen performance before his death... although I think it was actually released just before his second to last screen performance. But yes, me too...

Brett Richey

Officer and a Gentleman is at least tenderised - like the beef carcasses Rocky used to train on. And let's face it, we all know why we want Cassie to watch it.

Clarence Newman

actually, Working Girl should be winning this, but Moonstruck is fantastic too

Walter

A lot of good choices but I have to vote for the classic Sense & Sensibility despite a personal connection to Coming to America.

Peter Dillard

Wow, offensive is not the issue. 48 Hrs, Beverly Hills Cop, Raw it is not. It's just lame tropes

Tomt39

MOONSTRUCK should be winning this, hands down.

Matt Rose

Well that just is not acceptable. Lol

JohnnyUtah

To those who wait: https://www.youtube.com/live/tWdRhO9LDRM?t=7195s :-)

Happy Hanukkah

November is shaping up nicely!

Cole Jennett

That's a little bit too much information, Uncle, but I agree, Cassie should have seen Coming To America by now!

Mike LL

I had a suggestion for these Polls but it's good for a Holiday Poll: With Honors (1994) Starring Joe Pesci, Brendan Fraser, Moira Kelly and Patrick Dempsey. It's tender, funny, sweet, and emotional. Right up yours and Carly's alley. 😁

Zane From Canada

I've always thought so!!

Mike LL

I’m rooting for MOONSTRUCK which means it’s not going to win. Sigh. But COMING TO AMERICA is hilarious and it’s good that she’s seeing it having seen TRADING PLACES (there’s a surprise connection)

jdj830

I was wondering what is going on with Sense and Sensibility in this poll, as there is not one from 1985, I checked IMDB and Google. And I could have sworn that Cassie has seen the 1995 one, and was surprised to find it not listed in the Letterbxd! I'm sure I've heard Cassie mention it before, so I hope it does better on a future poll, this is one Cassie and Carly need to see!

Mike LL

I don't know if it was a restored version or the fact that we finally broke down and got a new TV, but OUT OF AFRICA looked great on a very recent watch. AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN still holds up, but probably not for the reasons that made it popular when it was released. For Cassie and Carly, it will hit all the right buttons, as would MOONSTRUCK and WORKING GIRL.

Above Average Dave

I GOT NOWHERE ELSE TO GO! Sense and Sensibility called me a 'pleb'. Whatever that means.

Chris Thom

I saw it recently for the first time and was blown away by how good it was. And of course, Gandolfini being in it will always make it even better for me.

Shehab Dawoud

If an Officer and a Gentleman is tender... then so is Saturday Night Fever.

Brett Richey

I think I've been saying it my sleep, Chris.

Clarence Newman

Lmao a far cry from his standup and some other movies - however! we have to give her credit, i mean she did sit through 3 Deadpools lol (and Carly too!)

Nadeem L

Damn right. Not only is it Eddie's funniest movie, it's the best one for Cassie because he doesn't swear much.

Clarence Newman

Having a hard time deciding...but pretty sure you'd like Working Girl, Moonstruck, or Hope Floats. Sandra Bullock definitely seems like your jam.

Chris Thom

Yes... it completely is.

Brett Richey

Working Girl has always been on my list of 5 movie picks for Cassie, should I ever be that fortunate, it is hurting a little that it isn't doing so well on this poll, I'm sure Cassie would love it. And also it hurts that Moonstruck is missing the mark again, maybe Cassie could call an audible here!!! Coming to America will be a fine watch, it is coming a little late, Cassie should have seen it right after Trading Places!!!

Mike LL

Enough Said is in my top 10 Romantic Comedies of all time. Truly a heartwarming story and all the feels without the need to manipulate you into empathetic submission. The amazing acting and superior script just elevates it above the usual 'classics' for me. I hope Cassie has seen it already, because it will never be chosen on here.

Brett Richey

You get it! 😆

Alex Villarreal

Coming to America is HILARIOUS, I cannot wait for that reaction!

Nadeem L

Vaguely remember it mentioned. Was that you? lol

Chris Thom

Working Girl is an awesome movie, still is after so many years. And better then An Officer And A Gentleman, which I just rewatched recently, and unfortunately it hasn't held up too well, at least for me. One or two really good scenes, mainly Louis Gossett jr is great. And the title song I also still love. Coming to America is of course a classic (just don't waste your time with the sequel)

Tina P

Yeah, SNAP OUT OF IT. 😄

Steven Perez

Son in Law is coming whether you like it or not😂

Cole Jennett

OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN!! Why didn't I think of that? And, by the way.....yeeha.

Clarence Newman

Agust Rush (2007) definitely, Out of Africa (1985) was one of my mother's favorites. Also if you want to change mood from scary Real Steel (2011) or Superman Returns (2006)

ArturoH

"An Officer And A Gentleman" brings back (strangely) fond memories of OCS in Pensacola, FL. And veterans day is coming up. It has my vote!

bgb1975

Agreed on Working Girl, such a "warm blanket" feel-good movie and definitely one Cassie would love.

SpiffMan

We all have an opportunity - no, a solemn duty - to right a grievous wrong. To do something for which we will all be proud, in the years to come, and perhaps until we each shuffle off our respective mortal coils. We can vote for Officer and a Gentlemen, which Cassie, and Carly, will love and from which they will derive great joy. This is the most important thing you can vote for this fall. Well, maybe the second most important thing. Actually, no, this is the one vote that rules them all. Please, do what is just, and allow PiB to live, and love, this wonderful film.

Mark Duedall

Cassie, I'm ready for tender November too! Thankfully we don't have to worry about October till next year....well... In a couple days' time.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

There are other films on this poll that are better, but COMING TO AMERICA is definitely going to win... and that's fine. It's a pretty decent film and a fine vehicle for Eddie Murphy's own particular brand of very funny, charismatic comedy. You will most likely have a good time.

Stick Figure Studios

I know your entitled to your opinion but I personally think Eddie Murphy was at his funniest in the 80s. Also tons of other funny film in that era. Personally think comedy films have dropped in quality in the last 10 years because the studios are now scared of offended people.

Dean Holt

Working Girl is so underrated. Every time I get someone to watch it, they love it. Sixteen candles is a classic although problematic in 2024. Love Moonstruck. Wheeeeennnn the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore! Officer and a Gentleman makes me sad actually.

Julie Chittenden

Coming to America is a comedy movie... so let's just watch comedy movies with a hint of romance all November. Or watch films like Peanut Butter Falcon which actually fits the definition. These polls are really confusing sometimes. I'll watch whatever it is regardless... whatever.

Brett Richey

Unfortunately it won’t win because these poll results always suck.

shaneth138

For those not voting for Moonstruck—why do you dislike comedy and joy? (Totally kidding.)

Alex Villarreal

The Peanut Butter Falcon is the best tender November pick here by far.

shaneth138

Coming to America (1988) is definitely not the best movie in the poll. I voted these five: -Peanut Butter Falcon (2019) -An Officer And A Gentleman (1982) -Sense and Sensibility (1995) -Moonstruck (1987) -Working Girl (1988)

Clay F

Working Girl / Officer and Gentlemen /Sixteen Candles. Havent seen Moonstruck, but heard its quite good. Coming to America is classic Eddie Murphy., So i'm fine with that also.

rakesh

Tough one. Moonstruck is so good, but Sixteen Candles is a cinematic must and Coming to America is comedy gold. Working Girl is an underrated classic and Peanut Butter Falcon has so much heart that it's a crime not more people have seen it. Most of the others are pretty heavy hitters too. Hope Floats is the only non-choice here and that's only because it's just a standard issue RomCom. Beloved but not particularly spectacular by comparison. I kinda hope Moonstruck wins. I've not watched it in forever and I kinda love Cher. I was disappointed when Witches of Eastwick lost in an earlier poll. Do a Cher-athon! Mermaids, Moonstruck, and Mask! All M's, all marvelous!

Godzilla Jones

How is 'Coming to America' tender? I understand its cache, but you'd have to be a person of the time to even relate to most of it. 'Boomerang' would be a better call if you were going for that late 80's vibe...

Story Archer

It doesn't look like Moonstruck is going to win...but $%&# yes, Moonstruck!

Steve Mercier

I hate this genre but there is one movie which I think would have been awesome for this: ‘Enough Said’ (2013), a funny, sweet and sometimes sad Rom-Dramedy. It’s with James Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, with Toni Colette and Catherine Keener in supporting roles. The main reason for watching it is the amazing performance of the late, great James Gandolfini. If you watched it and enjoyed his work, maybe you’d want to check out some of his other stuff. I don’t know, maybe this small thing he did called.. The Sopranos?

Shehab Dawoud

Glad to see Coming To America is winning. I think Cassie could do with a fun comedy after her latest reactions.

Luke Godfrey

I know right! The will they won't they, enemies to lovers storyline is a classic for the ages. Feel gutted for Cassie missing out on it.

Simon Haynes

LOL

Uncle Phoenix

August Rush, August Rush, August Rush... when it comes to tender movies, this will quickly become one of your all-time faves. Without spoiling it, you already love everyone who's in it and it's literally the kind of magical journey will move you to tears of joy over its tenderness.

Story Archer

If that is the one she means then I'm adding it to my votes.

Jake McNulty

Awww, that is such a tender movie.

Uncle Phoenix

What difficult choices, but I can't say no to Harrison Ford.

Morgan A. Colbert

You would love Moonstruck

nick bell

I think that she mentioned that she went to go see it, Without Us.

Uncle Phoenix

I voted for Sense & Sensibility (1995, not ‘85!) and it looks like it won’t win, but I really hope it gets into another poll or something. It’s a gorgeous, funny, romantic, heartfelt movie. You would LOVE it.

Rosanne Stewart

Moonstruck is an amazing comedic love story. I have watched it many times and it never gets old.

Joshua Bradt

Once again 'Hannah & Her Sisters' 1986 'Sweet November' 2001 missed the poll,ok, maybe next year, still a better poll than last year,no Pauly Shore movies. :)

Celeste McAllister

for Veterans Day, the Majestic starring Jim Carey

zynjams

PLEASE everyone, let's show some real love for "An Officer and a Gentleman". It's quite a bit heavier than most of the others, but it is by far and away the best movie on the list (in my sometimes-humble opinion). An absolute classic, and it has the romance element that will draw Cassie right in.

Cliff Endicott

Hopefully Mike, when a film loses enough polls it eventually becomes a Popcorn Pick of the Month.

Jake McNulty

Coming to America doesn't really belong here, but it's a fun movie for sure. Was hoping for Moonstruck. I think you mean Sense & Sensibility from 1995? Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet? Excellent movie too.

Nick Ireland

I'm guessing Sense & Sensibility has a typo and is actually the 1995 version. If it doesn't win I hope for a future "Period Piece Romance" poll, with Sense & Sensibility, Persuasion (1995), Far From the Madding Crowd (2015) and Frantz (2017). Though Frantz is arguably not a romance despite being romantic

keoma songs

I want Cassie to see "Coming to America" because of the Cameos; which indicate that "Coming to America" is in the same universe as "Trading Places”, which Cassie already saw.

Uncle Phoenix

I voted for Sense and Sensibility. Assuming it's the 1995 movie.

Grad

It’s very tender!

Richard Maurer

She watched in the theater when it came out, possibly twice.

Cole Jennett

Maybe for another poll hopefully! For now II'm happy to settle for "Coming to America".

Jake McNulty

Cassie, you should check out Working Girl, even if it doesn't make the final cut. Prime era Harrison Ford, Melanie Griffith and Sigourney Weaver.

Phil Sexton

An Officer and a gentleman is legendary level Cassie movie.

Ria Grix

Going to need my Moonstruck, Out of Africa, and Sixteen Candles hive to rise up

Michael G

Coming to America is such a poor movie. The humor was strained in the '80s! There are so many good movies on this list, please skip this one

Tomt39

You definitely deserve some lighter fare Cassie! Some good movies on the list. It’ll be interesting to see who wins On a side note, you haven’t seen Sixteen Candles? 🤯

Robert da Spruce

If Moonstruck wins....OMG!!! All pretty good choices. Coming to America is kind of the odd man out on this poll

Chris Retzlaff

Coming to America is my favorite movie growing up

Taylor Salas

Sixteen Candles is my number one… no… maybe Pretty in Pink is my number o..n.e… nope, hang on… er Breakfast Club. Anyway, Sixteen Candles is up there in my most loved movies from my teen years.

Ria Grix

Just been watching your Return of The King reaction again, Cassie. The studios should employ you to assess first screenings of films; you ask very good questions/ make good points, and it's interesting to see how well films answer them.

Chris Clarke

Would like to add another overlooked and somewhat underappreciated (written by John Hughes) flick - Some Kind of Wonderful (1987). 😎

Terdell Ferguson

Yes October is over, but what about second October?

Richard Maurer

Yeah, it's not quite what she thinks it is. I'd watch that one another time.

Robert Baldino

I will pass on these and let “the Others” vote.

Cooper

You have to watch Working Girl at some point.

james sweeney

OK, little disappointed where’s The Fly 😂😂. Seriously though I really hope Coming to America wins it’s a fantastic comedy with a bit of a romantic storyline. Also one of my favourite Eddie Murphy movies.

Dean Holt

I picked "Officer and A Gentleman", "Working Girl", "Moonstruck" and "Coming to America".

Jake McNulty

Everyone has it right. "Coming to America" for fun and funny (opens up the sequel for later) and "Officer and a Gentleman" for romance. Great movies to transition away from that difficult "IT 2". "Hope Floats" is a pretty good contender. Just in 3rd place on my poll.

R F.

Can’t believe it is going to lose ANOTHER poll!

Mike LL

I'm gonna miss spooky season but we all must move on...especially after Hill House... also am I missing Dune Part 2 somewhere in the past? I could have swore I saw a reaction posted.

JohnnyUtah

I love An Officer and a Gentleman but it's not as tender compared to the rest of the list.

Jonathan Caro

If you want tender, Goodbye Girl with Richard Dreyfus. Won an Oscar for the role

Starpartyguy

I see what you did there. 😀 I am waiting too.

Michael Enos

Coming to America is more comedy, not really tender... maybe you meant An American Tail (heartwarming animated family movie)

Adam Doyle

Can't believe Saw 2 isn't on this list! 😉

Simon Haynes

Moonstruck!!!!

Tyler Foster

Data kinda has a tender relationship in ST - First Contact!

Hat

Going with Hope Floats and Sandra Bullock

Bill Maurer

Peanut butter falcon is exactly the tonic you need after It part two
