[YT Edit] Star Trek: The Next Generation (Series Finale)
Added 2024-09-25 23:39:16 +0000 UTC
Hey guys! Here is the YT edit for the series finale which will premiere a bit later on YT.
Ohhhhh yes. Cassie missed an entire series of deliriously funny antics with Picard having to deal with Deana Troi’s mother. Ohh just being him trying to avoid her whenever she was on board visiting.
The other recurring theme episodes worth the laughs were the ones with lieutenant Reginald “Reg” Barclay.. (the BARCLAY episodes! Don’t call him BROCCOLI!)

Congrats on watching Star trek TNG albiet a few episodes per season. You missed out on some fun episodes I think you would've loved especially the one where Worf and Alexander go to the wild west on the holodeck and another episode with Moriarty. Not to mention Dixon Hill. YOU WOULD'VE LOVED PICARD'S DIXON HILL ADVENTURES!! By the way. Any other shows or cartoons you're gonna watch? Doctor Who? Star trek Picard? Courage the cowardly dog? War and Remembrance and Winds of war? Maybe something from the BBC back in the 70s Like Monty Python or Wings?

Paramount+ in US (that I used) synced perfectly with her reaction. No different for S7 compared to previous seasons.
I believe she uses US Paramount+ for TNG episodes.

@Stan - No offence (well, maybe a little), but the Trek people bitch no matter how wanting other things is worded. Go back through the comments for the *10 months* Trek has been running, every time someone says they hope Trek ends the fanatics get all pissy about it.

2024-09-28 16:48:28 +0000 UTC
That's true, it could be. It's not a real big deal, I know how to adjust for it and it was only for the season 7 episodes, nothing else. I was just curious if anyone else had that issue, but I may be the only one that processes the reactions the way I do.
Kevin (31Mike)
2024-09-28 16:47:31 +0000 UTC
But Cassie does. *That* source could be using PAL.
Mike Lemon

I don't stream, I use local copies of everything and process them through Premiere Pro.
Kevin (31Mike)
2024-09-28 16:20:12 +0000 UTC
But what is the streaming's source?
Mike Lemon
2024-09-28 10:03:05 +0000 UTC
No, my copies are NTSC from my DVDs, I even went and found multiple other copies to see if I could get it to work. None of them were able to sync. It's only the season 7 episodes. All others sync perfectly. Not a real big deal, I do a lot of video editing of my own reactions so I was able to work it out.
Kevin (31Mike)
2024-09-28 05:00:12 +0000 UTC
I haven't watched these but it sounds like a PAL (European) vs NTSC (North American/Japanese) issue. If you set the fast one to play at 96%, it should be good.
Mike Lemon
2024-09-28 01:29:37 +0000 UTC
I had to jump through a few hoops to sync up with these episodes. I think it was because of the recording frame rate of the reaction. I had to set the reaction to 104% speed and the episode at 99.4% speed just to get them close enough to being in sync.
Was that just me or did anyone else have an issue?
Kevin (31Mike)

I think Season 3 of ST:Picard is absolutely worth watching for me, Cassie and anyone love this crew and other characters as well as the ships. I would donate big $$$ to see Cassie enjoying it, with big smiles and few tears.

I have to agree with you on Picard - it fundamentally misunderstands what Star Trek is about (as does basically everything since Voyager IMO). Season 3 might be the least worst of the bunch, and it does have some fun moments to be fair, but it's still steeped in this grim nu-trek dystopia that only serves to undermine the entire point of Star Trek.

2024-09-27 11:16:24 +0000 UTC
There's really only one reason to watch Picard season 3 as the love letter to the fans, but I generally agree that you could also skip it. I remember Patrick Stewart annoucing that he was coming back and saying "This isn't the same Jean Luc that you knew" it completely destroyed what the Gene Roddenberry future was meant to be.
It would be nice for her to see it for the finale, but a hard watch overall. And probably a lot of meaning lost without at least some reference for Voyager as well.

I’ve enjoyed rewatching these episodes. “Star Trek: TNG” is one of my all-time favorite shows, and I’m glad you love it too. I’m curious what you’d think of “Star Trek: DS9.” But, please don’t watch “Star Trek: Picard.” It does not do the character or the franchise any favors, and even season 3 of isn’t as good as many people say. I think the things you like about Star Trek would be ruined by “Star Trek: Picard,” a depressing, dystopian, violent, and nonsensical show. Just watch even more of TNG and keep the warm feelings for the franchise and the characters going.

“Thank god it’s over” is not feedback. It’s rude. There’s a way to say things and this was disrespectful and rude. And your obsession with telling me you don’t care about my feelings is very odd. Is there a reason for you being so rude?
Someone with manners would say “ah you know what maybe I could’ve phrased it better”.

There’s a way to say things and saying something “thank God it’s over” it’s incredibly rude. There’s many ways to say you aren’t enjoying something. That’s not constructive.
I’d love it if she covered other TV shows but if she picks one I don’t like I’m not going to go into the comments of that very thing and say rude things like “Thank god that’s over” or “I don’t care about your feelings”

I remember having a little cry watching this episode (or episodes as they were at the time)
We had such a journey together and this was a great way of taking a trip down memory lane (and so nice to see Tasha again) It really did feel like the end too, I didn’t know about the movie they were making so didn’t even know if I’d see them again.

If Q were to comment on Cassie's love for Picard and his humanity, he might say something like:
"Ah, Picard! The embodiment of human potential—even when faced with the absurdity of existence. Cassie's affection for you reflects not just a personal connection, but an admiration for the very essence of what it means to be human: the capacity for love, growth, and change. It's amusing, really. You, with your endless struggles against fate, inspire such loyalty. Perhaps humanity isn't as hopeless as I often suggest." 😏

You should watch DS9 (some TNG characters are on it) and maybe Voyager (and even Enterprise), do it as "Patreon Exclusives".
As I've said elsewhere, I can help with the formatting of the full length videos, so you don't have to burden your editor.
I've done a lot of reactions too, so I'm equipped to process the videos for you if you want to do it (free, of course).

Cassie, thanks for the Star Trek journey. I’ve really looked forward to these popping up and the polls were great fun as well. Plus it’s always a joy to chat with other Trekkies.
I’m so glad you got to enjoy this series. Hopefully, sometime in the future, you may be able to go back and watch more episodes, even if you watch them on your own. You would love DS9 and Voyager. Plus Picard season 3.
On to the movies. 🙂

You should definitely watch some episodes with Trois mother "Lwaxana Troi". Played by Majel Rodenberry - Genes wife in real life. She was also the voice of the enterprise computer & was nurse chapel in the original series. Some great scenes with her and Picard.
I'd happily watch you react to more TNG - just avoid episodes that came bottom of the various polls.
While it was an excellent show, there were a few duds - Sub Rosa & Masks I'm looking at you!

I think if you decide to see the rest of TNG on your own, you'll find many gems that were in the top 10 of a season but didn't make the cut for the channel. You may bond with side characters that didn't show up or did briefly in reactions. Characters like Troi + her mother, Geordi and even Wesley will have their moments (Lower Decks will resonate even more if you see 'The First Duty' and maybe 'Ensign Ro' for example) that were missed in this run. There are some interesting cameos too.
Out of all the Star Trek shows, TNG was my favorite. A nearly perfect mix of episodic science-fiction with competent characters and chemistry. DS9 had its story and conflicts, Voyager... (it's fine but not in the same league IMO.). But I have the fondest memories of TNG. I think it was the last science-fiction show to showcase a generally positive future that later series and other sci-fi shows haven't been able to do since. It's also surprisingly family friendly for older kids.
I haven't really seen the modern shows so can't comment on those.

FWIW stumbling across a TNG reaction is how I found the YT channel. I didn't even know what a reaction video was, I assumed it was just going to be a review of some kind. If anyone had explained reaction videos to me beforehand I'd have thought it was utterly bonkers and not my cup of tea at all. But then I enjoyed it, and ploughed through the rest of the TNG reactions. And then I stuck around for the Firefly reactions. And now here I am.
I'm pleased it's over for the people that want it to be over, and I'm pleased I got to come along for the ride while it lasted. I'll be sticking around for whatever comes next, the sky's the limit!

TNG is great, but some of the best episodic Trek from the 90's was from DS9 and Voyager. I highly recommend watching the best episodes from them.

It’s funny. I’m a Trekkie. Have been since I discovered TOS in the mid 70s. One of the foundational aspects of the various Star Trek series is tolerance. Yet the intolerance of many self professed Trekkies in this forum has been pronounced. I’ve seen posts accusing people that don’t like the series of being right wing extremists and numerous posts suggesting that people that would like to see reactions to other things should keep their figurative mouths shut. Just a tremendous amount of bile. All because some people like other things and had the unmitigated gall to say so. I also strongly suspect that many of those that have expressed such opinions probably don’t hesitate to voice their own displeasure when Cassie reacts to something in which they have no interest. Maybe a little respect for those with differing opinions is in order.

I think Cassie would LOVE Deep Space Nine. DS9 is my fav Trek. It gets pretty serialized in the final seasons but it’s an amazing show. As far as I’m concerned, beyond the final season of Picard, that’s where Trek stops as a TV series

I’m a fan of Star Trek but I agree wholeheartedly. Cassie only posts three reactions a week and when one of those is a long running series that takes several months to work thru, that’s a lot of missed opportunities for movie reactions. It’s nice that it’s over. On to other things!

2024-09-26 05:01:14 +0000 UTC
I believe this makes it 40 TNG episodes watched and 4 for TOS. The single TOS YouTube video has more views than any of many numerous TNG videos. Wished it was more proportionately spread out, but it is what it is. Bottom line is Cassie enjoyed it and that's what really matters most. On to the movies.

I really want you to meet Lt. Reginald Barclay. He only appears in 5 episodes. To get to know him, you only need to watch his first episode "s3, e21 Hollow Pursuits. To start to love him you need to watch his second episode s4, e19 The Nth Degree. I would also recommend season 6 episode Ship in a Bottle because it also features another character you have seen before.

You mentioned that some people think you can't love the characters because you didn't watch the entire series. Ignore any of that noise. The bar for entry to Trekkiedom is on the ground; everyone is welcome. If you've only watched one episode and liked it, you're part of the tribe! :)

Now that you've wrapped up the show, I'm going to go ahead and write that you DID miss Riker and Troi being together. Appreciate those you know NOW, at this moment. It prevents a lot of regret in the future. I lost my best friend a week ago. We both had heart problems, but his was worse. We discussed, over the last 4 years, that he was living his 4-5 years he had left to the fullest. He always had a smile and I talked with him twice a week and even the morning that he died. I was not shocked. I still miss my friend. But the question of should I go back on the road doing what I love until the end instead of waiting around to die was answered that day. I leave next month driving 48 states and Canada. Truck driver isnt what I am..its who I am. (TG Maverick reference). This episode only reinforces my decision once again. Awesome reaction. I will post a comment when I go thru SLC area to send a wave. lol

And so it was that Jean-Luc Picard, after years commanding the USS Enterprise and steering the course of intergalactic diplomacy, found himself searching for a new mission in life. His journey led him to Westchester, New York, where he adopted the identity of Professor Charles Xavier. Here, he established the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, a sanctuary for individuals with remarkable abilities, those society feared and misunderstood. Here the X-Men would be born.
This is just a fun bit of fan fiction, but The Next Generation and the X-Men did crossover during the 90s, not in a comic, but in a novel. They even joked about how much Picard resembled Xavier, and this was years before Patrick Stewart was cast as Professor X in the films.

There's always a feeling of sadness when a show you love & become attached to comes to an end. I remember shedding more than a few tears back in 1983 when the final episode of M*A*S*H (Goodbye, Farewell & Amen) aired. Everyone had grown so attached to all of the characters over the 11-year span of the show that it felt like our hearts were going to break seeing the members of the 4077th saying goodbye & going their separate ways. The same can be said for the final episodes of The Next Generation's sister shows, DS9 ('What We Leave Behind') & Voyager ('Endgame').

I’m just saying that the Scariest but not that Scary movie for Cassie and Carly is “The Tao of Steve” (2000). Technically it is a romantic comedy, but it is also a dark look into male dating philosophy, kind of like Will Smith’s “Hitch” (2005).
