trick or TREAT poll

Welcome to week 1 of our Trick or treat Poll! This one is the TREAT! Some SCARY but too SCARY options are on the TRICK Poll!! The "TREAT" poll will be separate and still Halloween and scary adjacent but more of a treat? Does that make sense? Like more Carly friendly? So this is the light side of things right here! Multiple votes allowed. It will end Friday!

PS-We will do another trick or treat movie poll next week so more titles!

PMS-I will already be watching some spooky movies on the calendar so that is why some are missing from the poll!

Comments

Death Becomes Her was of of those movies whose humor I totally didn't get as a child. Old people trying to not be old, and just disgusted me kind of. So watching it again as an adult was quite a treat because I finally understood all the jokes. It was like a new film.

YodatheHobbit

Poll's over now, to little, to late - unfortunately.

Richard Maurer

Still 16 votes behind. 😞

Joe

Oh come on Carly! Relax! Its just a movie! I'd love to see her reactions to some scary movies! Grow some thick skin lady! LOL!! Say! How about I know what you did last summer or Final Destination?

Kyle Prince

Cassie it's not on the list but I'd love to see a reation video to 'The Legend of Hell House', which is IMO the greatest haunted house movie ever made.

Chris

Don’t really understand all the Underworld hate in the comments. I personally think it’s a fun modern take on a classic monster rivalry. I’m looking forward to their reaction to it! Truth be told I’m more of a fun modern movie guy over the classics though, so it’s nice to see one of those winning a poll for a change!

Christian R

"Used Cars" (1980) is a great Kurt Russell film.

bgb1975

Cassie you will Love Death Becomes Her. Definitely watch it sometime even if it doesn’t win

Bobilicious

Ignore my above comment, I was quite ill when I wrote it.

Richard Maurer

I don't think you understand *why* it's on her "no" list... It's not because it's too scary, it's because of the demonic nature and child torture.

Jon Johns

No one in my comment here called them fragile, think you replied to the wrong one

JPDotCom23

@Joe - my thoughts exactly.

Richard Maurer

2nd can be important. Cassie may put the 2nd place winners from these two polls on next weeks poll, it's possible.

Joe

They Live needs 16 votes to pass Death Becomes Her. Do the right thing. people. If it can't be first it should at least be second.

Richard Maurer

We do this all the time. Well I do it then I get a tongue lashing for questioning anyone. But I hear you both. Well put.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

One of the most two fragile women on the planet? No definitely not. Though I think she could definitely handle it, people lie to her way too often about how scary these movies are

John A

I'll never understand why none of these reactors have done Josey Wales yet. Sure GB&U and Unforgiven are absolute classics, but then they're watching either bad remakes or westerns that are OK at best while a top 2 but not #2 in my opinion keeps being ignored

John A

He does, and he’s voiced by Vincent Price!

China Andronicus

I watched a reaction to it awhile back and alI it did was remind me that I didn't like it in the first place. I voted for Underworld specifically to help keep it from winning the poll. And I wish more people would step up for They Live and put DBH in third place.

Richard Maurer

I am pretty sure that "Live and Let Die" being one of the two Moore Bond films already gave that nugget away. ;)

Doug Fisher

You're right I did miss it. My excuse is I'm recovering from a nasty UT infection, and that's a long list. And I always just say LotR because I consider it one movie divided into three parts. For me it goes like this: Lord of the Rings Everything else I like.

Richard Maurer

If you are still having problems try clicking towards the text. The "click area" is janky sometimes.

Mike Lemon

Sweet!!

Larry Darrell

Hi Cassie

inspectordh

Even though I voted Underworld, I watch Abbott and Costello meets Frankenstein and It's a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown every Halloween season.

Jimmy Stewart

I had forgotten about that scene...

Gro Do

Look closer. You missed it. LotR is No. 17 on my list. Definitely all 3 of the trilogy are favorites all time for me. I've watched them so many times. Never get tired watching them. The way i feel now, I will raise to above No. 17 the next revision.

Clay F

Yeah she's seen it. The sequel or prequel or whatever is on the other poll.

Chris Thom

Since LotR is not on your list I find it hard to take seriously. I'm sure you'd feel the same about my list, If I had one.

Richard Maurer

Put Outworld on the list, just for the hell of it.

Richard Maurer

I think she’s seen it already.

Joe M

Another year with Creepshow (1982) not being on poll. It’s just as well, I don’t think Cassie could handle the 5th story in this movie. It would be like Arachnophobia, but a million times that much terrifying 🪳.

Joe M

I second They Live.

Joe M

I keep a list of my top 91 movies of all time, which I update/revise once every year or two. They all by chance are RT fresh. Below is a copy/paste of the top 61. JoJo Rabbit (2019) 61. Edward Scissorhands (1990)

Clay F

No, she's winning, because she's the only reason to watch that movie

John A

She's seen a lot in theaters and not on her channel. I do doubt that was one of them, but who knows

John A

Richard, The Godfather is my favorite movie of all time. My top 3 movies of all time in order are: GF GF 2 The Shawshank Redemption Sounds like critic scores are not helpful for you. I guess I am lucky that critic consensus scores tend to match my tastes.

Clay F

Why have you NOT done A QUIET PLACE ?

Carol Rocha

I'm putting Upperworld on my list:)

John Callahan

I also hope this doesn't win. We'll have to watch the sequels if they like the first and I'm guessing they will like it actually. Like it not love it. Highlander is a bad movie with a couple highlights. Underworld is just mediocre in every aspect.

My_Cousin_Mose

Basically it's, if a 80's, 90's, or 2000's movie is in the poll forget about any older films winning, especially 80's films, which people here seem to have an unnatural and unhealthy relationship with.

Richard Maurer

We ALL need more Rowdy Roddy in our lives. RIP

Just Plain Bob

Clay F - the reasons you give why you go with critics scores are the very reasons I ignore them. Using The Godfather as an example, most critics place it on a pedestal as one of, or even the, greatest film ever. But it's not, LotR is. In fact I could give you fifty, or even a hundred movies I like better. I'm not saying it's a bad film by any means, but in the end, to me it's the best film in a genre I don't really like, mob films. I understand this is my opinion, but that 's the point - my opinion supersedes all others, and no critics opinion can change that, so why bother with them?

Richard Maurer

Hope makes it to second place, and it deserves to be in first.

Richard Maurer

Yeah The Thing is one of the top horror movies of all time. I was just showing him how successful the Halloween franchise has been. Yeah you're right I don't feel any nostalgia for it.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

And then you realize people are thinking the same of you and your choices. Let's use Death Becomes Her as an example. Many here who support it are bashing Underworld, often with an air of moral superiority. Is DBH a more clever film than Underworld? Sure, but is it a better action film? It's all about what you're looking for.

Richard Maurer

Another lite, fun horror movie could be ‘Vampire In Brooklyn’. We need more Eddie Murphy on here. It also features Angela Bassett and the late great legend John Witherspoon (RIP). Directed by Wes Craven (Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream).

Shehab Dawoud

I consider multiple sources of info and always make my own decision. RT critics consensus is what I most agree with and thus helpful to me in deciding what movies to watch. I also look at RT audience score and IMDb rating, but generally agree more with RT critics consensus score. It would not have killed me to never watch Predator 87. While I liked it, there is a lot of dialogue cheese in the movie that I thought stupid. But I am glad I watched it. Cool in ways. Plus, part of our culture, and I like Arnold. It was only because RT gave it a fresh rating that I watched Predator 87. I had decided not to watch Predator 87 but when I saw RT fresh rating, I decided to give it a chance. A good example of how RT critic consensus helped me. RT critics give it a rather good 80%. *Predator (1987). IMDb 7.8, RT 80% (audience 89%) *The Predator (2018). IMDb 5.3, RT 34% (audience 32%) I liked Prey (2022) better. I find Metacritic generally good but less helpful than RT, yet that is me and my tastes. Sometimes when a movie has high RT critics score but low RT audience score, the movie can be too esoteric for me. I rarely like a movie with low RT critics score and high RT audience score, but I do think about it. Having RT has been a lifesaver and proved over and over as a useful tool for me. I only have limited time to watch movies. RT gives useful info for me in choosing which of the available thousands and thousands of movies to watch. I also ask family/friends. I read reviews by particular critics that I like and tend to agree with.

Clay F

I agree with Richard tbh, I always like to make my own mind up on movies. It’s fine if you find it helps you but if you look at the critics score on Predator (87) that has a 47 and then look at The Predator (2018) that has a score of 48. So if you you went off that you might never watch Predator which imo is one of Arnold best movies.

Dean Holt

You are aware he made The Thing, but tbh it might be because I don’t really have any nostalgia for it but never really got why people really liked They Live just thought it was a pretty average movie.

Dean Holt

Tbh, I saw Army of Darkness before the first two as I didn’t know at the time there was two films before it. And I don’t remember feeling I’d miss anything so yeah your right regards to it bring you up to speed. I still love the film and I’m not saying she shouldn’t watch it, but not sure if Cassie would like the humour in it.

Dean Holt

Personally really like the Underworld franchise and think it’s one of the best on the list. Just find it a fun switch your brain off movie plus it’s about Vampires Vs Werewolf’s and not in the terrible way that Twilight did it and nearly killed off Vampire films. But I did vote for Monster Squad as I just think it would have been a fun film for them both to watch and I have a bit of nostalgia for it as it’s pretty much Halloween version of the Goonies lol.

Dean Holt

That was a great movie.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Yep, bad movie. Kate B. being hot is not enough to save Underworld. Stupid, slow, tedious. Dumb dialogue. My guess is Cassie will dislike it as much as she disliked Highlander, but I am not good at predicting.

Clay F

I am the opposite. I tend to agree with critics consensus -- helpful for me.

Clay F

Kate B. is hot in Underworld but I voted Arsenic and Old Lace (1944)

Clay F

🤣🤣🤣

Dan M

Trick or Treat (2007) really should have been on the poll.

Clint

Despite her putting Constantine on one of the polls. Which is a complete head scratcher since she doesnt do those movies. She doesn't do devil movies. No Omen, No Conjuring, No Rosemary's Baby, No Exorcist. Underworld is the best movie on here. Kate B. is hot in that movie.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Any chance Cassie may get confused when finding Underworld to watch and winds up watching… Upperworld (1934), starring Ginger Rogers, Warren William and Mary Astor ???? That would be a very Happy Accident :-) I’ll wager Ginger is better in Upper than Kater is in Under ;-)

Larry Darrell

80’s and beyond.

Ortizmo2000

Oh hell me too!! I still think it’s effin awesome.

Ortizmo2000

Do you know who directed that?

Chris Thom

Same. It's more like a satire of the 80's and consumer culture.

Chris Thom

I don't think that needs to be an October selection though. That one is appropriate for any time of year.

Chris Thom

It's getting the first 4k release in October as well from Scream Factory. I'd love to watch it with that.

Brian's Dog

Oh I don’t know. It wouldn’t hurt but isn’t really needed I think. Army of Darkness is played a fair bit away from ED 1&2. I agree it would give background on Ash, the NF and deadites but AofD does a good job in bringing the audience up to speed. It can (and often is) considered a stand alone film in its own right.

Evil Darth Carl

Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein....classic scary not scary fun

Jeff Vargas

She would need to watch ED1 and 2 to do that

Jacob Wagner

Hey love the channel. Would like to see y'all watch the original Omen or the Conjuring. Something without gore but with creepy jump scares. Just a suggestion. Looking forward to Halloween.

Nick Thousan

I mean, it's OK as a little action flick with a vampire tinge and Beckinsale is fun to look at, but it's not anything to get excited about. It's just a mediocre pastiche of action tropes, classic monsters, and The Matrix. Highlander isn't a great movie either, I guess, and I don't really mind watching Underworld, but it's beating some heavy hitters in cinema and that's just bizarre. There's been talk of vote rigging in the past and this feels like that. Not to be all conspiratorial about it. I'll say this, They Live deserves to win and Monster Squad is an absolute delight of an Amblin Kid horror comedy. Once again though I have to resign my GenX tastes too the whims of Millennial tyranny. Ah well. C'est la vie.

Godzilla Jones

Same.

Stick Figure Studios

Ditto.

Stick Figure Studios

I actually think Carly could do that one.

Stick Figure Studios

I've never gotten the love for those movies. I tried the first one and thought it sucked. That was enough for me.

Stick Figure Studios

God, I hope UNDERWORLD doesn't win.

Stick Figure Studios

Definitely not.

Story Archer

Ahhh I got ya

Joseph M Sica

Lets hope it keeps up!

RJ MacReady

Finishing strong in the poll. Third place.

Clay F

Please tell me you have see Odd Thomas. That is a great not too scary amazing movie.

Seymor Butz

I thought it was on the channel last year or the year before. But maybe it just got really close in a poll. Or someone semi-similar like Addie watched it.

Chris Thom

They Live is a must.

RJ MacReady

Pretty sure she's seen it already.

Chris Thom

Ashleigh Burton has done 30k to 68k on YT with Buffy Season 1 (least popular season). And if she can do those numbers, we know Cassie would do considerably better.

Richard Maurer

Nobody here should be throwing stones, because we all live glass houses. There's no shortage crying and whining here.

Richard Maurer

what's your problem? I like a movie and for some reason you give me your opinion. are you a troll? I bet you're a troll.

zynjams

Seconded

Odd Thomas

The Village!!! How is The Village not on here? I've been pushing it for the past two years!!! Star-studded cast, incredible music - it's a love story pretending to be a scary movie, you've got to give this film a chance!

Story Archer

If she does Buffy in 4-5 episodes per season, can she get 50-60k views on YT, I think not. The viewing interest has to be there on the YT posts. She would have stopped TNG if views weren't good.

Joe

I think good films win the polls.

Joe

For me, especially when the modern movies in the poll are not that good. I tend to vote modern over old. Yet, here, Underworld is crap and other modern entries are mediocre, whereas Arsenic And Old Lace (1944) which I voted for has been on my watchlist for a while.

Clay F

If you watch Buffy, you should skip the movie and go right to the series.

D.M. Lipkin

Because the movie is terrible

David Freese

you'll do this a lot. And then realise this happens in real life way too often.

rakesh

If you like to see more Kurt Russell in his prime years, there is only one choice : BREAKDOWN!

N M

Army of Darkness should have been in here somewhere. Cheesy, campy, tongue in cheek, B-movie fun that pokes fun at itself (evil dead movies). They Live is in the same spirit and both would likely be Carly safe lol. “Hail to the King, baby!”

Evil Darth Carl

And a Noir Poll.

John Callahan

Yes, Decades Polls!

John Callahan

One man's trash is another man treasure. Halloween is John Carpenter's best. How many sequels? Let's go through them Halloween (1978) Halloween Ii (1981) Halloween III Season Of The Witch (1982) Halloween IV Return Of Micheal Myers (1988) Halloween V (1989) Revenge Of Micheal Myers Halloween 6: (1995) Curse Of Michael Myers Halloween H20 (1998) Halloween Resurrection (2002) Rob Zombie Halloween (2007)! Rob Zombie Halloween 2 (2009) Halloween (2018) Halloween Kills (2021) Halloween Ends (2022) Thats 13 movies, merchandise, fan made movies. Halloween (1978) is considered one of the greatest horror movies ever made. They Live has a cult following but has no sequels no merchandise. Made $13 million at the box office John Carpenter in 2017 had to respond to Neo Nazi themes. Saying it was about unrestrained capitalism. I am sorry but They Live has no stars unless you consider Rowdy Rowdy Piper a star. The Ward (2010) with Amber Heard was a better Carpenter movie. They Live is considered a science fiction movie and not horror a horror movie.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Incorrect. They Live was not only the pinnacle of Carpenter’s long and successful career, but easily the greatest film ever made.

Junior

Yeah but I'm still a kid Kekek

Joseph M Sica

Which is why I pay no attention to critics.

Richard Maurer

You're right, but I'll vote for it anyway.

Richard Maurer

Sadly there’s more Silent newer film lovers, which is why Decades Polls would be terrific.

Larry Darrell

I'm glad her Cheesy movie is winning.

Richard Maurer

I saw Monster Squad when it first came out. Thought it was a kids movie then, and having seen a reaction to it, it's even more of a kids movie now. Does not hold up.

Richard Maurer

Awesome Tarantino-like scene in it, before Tarantino, which is cool.

Larry Darrell

High Spirits (1988)

Larry Darrell

Not enough of them, as they never win polls

Richard Maurer

Death Becomes Her is an incredibly great movie and something Cassie would totally love, IMO. I like Underworld a lot, but I hope DBH gets the win.

Mike Amandes

You’re so right. And I hate that you’re right.

Dan M

I know this poll is supposed to be horror lite, but a lot of these films are too lite, like dandelion seeds in the wind.

Richard Maurer

@Bill - maybe you just need to be asking for a Classic Sci-Fi poll in every Upcoming post. It worked for me with classic horror, and it only took a year! Nice last name, by the way.

Richard Maurer

Breakdown. Not a horror movie at all, but more of a suspenseful thriller!

Jacob Colson

Yes to this!

Jacob Colson

But Breakdown is a thriller, nowhere near a horror movie. But a great suspenseful thriller at that, though!

Jacob Colson

I agree Trick R Treat is great. You should def check it out Cassie.

Jason Haney

They Live had a professional wrestler in it for gosh sakes. The worst John Carpenter movie ever. I don't mean to put this movie down. I just think it's a Sci-fi movie. Not horror.

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

Which movie? I think all the movies I listed are on this list. But I'm not sure which movie are you talking about? Are you saying she already saw Monster squad? I would love to see anybody's reaction to that movie nobody does a reaction to that movie. Just like people don't do a reaction to like Cellular with Chris Hemsworth Or movies like entrapment with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones. I had Christy Reacts watched the movie The Chase with Charlie Sheen recently and she loved it! . She also watched the movie I suggested called The Man From Uncle which is great That she loved!

Joseph M Sica

Could've sworn that was already on the channel.

Chris Thom

Breakdown was pretty good, but They Live is kinda a campy classic. Plus it has Canadian content with Rowdy Roddy Piper, lol.

Ian Hunter (NewbieInOttawa)

what's that got to do with the movie, I grew up watching the soap opera Dark Shadows. my D&D character's name was Barnabus. I still loved the movie.

zynjams

Totally get your point. Don't forget it's a newer movie and a lot of people probably don't know what these other movies are. I've never seen half of them. And also don't forget if you watched some of these movies back in the 80s or 90s you probably wouldn't remember too much about it. So anyways that's why Under World is winning imo My motto is always don't vote for a movie if you haven't seen them all on the list. But this is a Very diverse list so I actually did vote for Death Becomes Her and Monster Squad just because it was my favorite Halloween kids movie. But you are right.

Joseph M Sica

It's a shame a lot of ppl don't know about Monster Squad! I use to watch That movie ritually when I was a kid! I don't honestly think it should win (I can see why underworld has so many votes) I voted for death becomes her but Monster Squad is a really fun gem. "Wolf Man Gots Nards!"

Joseph M Sica

Hahaha cute

JPDotCom23

I am questioning the collective wisdom of Cassie's 3,500 paid members

Thin White Duke

Underworld? Wow, might as well be another Highlander.

Aaron Mann

Yes and kept to the formula of the series

David Freese

I have a feeling she will like Underworld.

Mike Lemon

Sorry. I voted for it so it doesn't have a chance.

Mike Lemon

💯 agree about “In The Mouth of Madness”. It’s my second favourite John Carpenter horror movie after “The Thing”. “The Fog” is also good and worth a reaction. “In The Mouth of Madness” resonates with me because growing up I lived a few kilometres away from the creepy church featured in the movie and I remember visiting that church with my grandparents as a kid, years before the movie was filmed there. The outside is super creepy but the inside was just a normal church (nothing like in the movie). I also work in Toronto and have visited several of the film locations, like the coffee shop and the publishing office. Another film fact: Hayden Christiansen (Anakin for the Star Wars prequels) had his first film role as the kid on the bike. I don’t know if Cassie would enjoy “In the Mouth of Madness” but I’m certain it would be an entertaining reaction! 😉

Rod Reavern

That’s because you have excellent taste!

Mike LL

I just found that out she’s watching the frighteners this week so my amendment is going to be the famous saying from Emily Litella(Gilda Radner) from Saturday Night Live “never mind”

Doc Larry

You're right. We all been picking on you younger, more sensitive viewers. We stop now. Let Cassie watch what she wants to. Peace?

Anthony Perez

“IT Chapter 2” is a toss up: On one hand, Cassie could be watching it this year because it’s the sequel, which is why she didn’t include it in the polls. OR Cassie was so scared of “IT (2017)” that she excluded it from this year’s polls because she doesn't want to watch it. It’ll be interesting to find out.

Rod Reavern

“Nosferatu” (1922)

Rod Reavern

No way, “In The Mouth of Madness” (1994) is way scarier than “They Live” and was the last great horror movie that John Carpenter ever made. I’d much rather Cassie watch that one, but it’s unfortunately not popular enough to make it onto a poll, nevermind win one. “They Live” is creepy in social commentary and dystopian society kind of way, not in a scary way that is suited for Halloween. Cassie should watch “They Live” in the near-future but it’s not worth squandering a Trick or Treat movie slot. The most appropriate Trick or Treat movie for Cassie to watch is “TRICK ‘R TREAT” (2007)!!!

Rod Reavern

The “Scary Movie” franchise and similar Wayans Brothers spoofs DESTROYED the movie parody sub-genre. Cassie has watched “Halloween” (1978) and “Scream” (1997), but not any of the sequels or related movies (“Friday the 13th”, “Nightmare on Elm St.”, “I Know What You Did Last Summer”), so she wouldn’t get most of the “Scary Movie” references. Most of all, “Scary Movie” is just a terrible movie.

Rod Reavern

I wanted to like Underworld. After all, as you indicate, Kate Beckinsale in stunning in appearance in this. Plus, I am open to fantasy premises. But this movie is just amazingly bad. I was shocked and disappointed when I watched the movie. It almost came across as a joke or a farce or a parody. One long violent SNL skit. Poll results are a mixed bag on the channel. I am quite often out-of-step with the patron voting plurality.

Clay F

UNDERWORLD? SERIOUSLY? Holy crap. Unbelievable that it would be beating out some of these titles. Literally unbelievable.

Godzilla Jones

I agree, “Underworld” is highly overrated — which is ironic, because it received terrible reviews and the franchise quickly petered out and has largely been forgotten. I suspect the people voting for it have nostalgia goggles on and haven’t watched it in 20 years. I get it: Kate Beckinsale, in her prime, wearing a black leather catsuit and kicking ass in Matrix-style slow-mo action sequences. My college friends and I all went to see it for those reasons… and were disappointed because it was a bad movie. I know “Underworld” is currently leading the poll but it will be a shame to squander one of Cassie’s reaction videos for this Halloween on this movie. “Van Helsing” is marginally better, also stars Kate Beckinsale (and Hugh Jackman!), and is a more appropriate Halloween-themed movie.

Rod Reavern

“The Thing from Another World” is ok. I respect it for being the Arctic-located horror movie that John Carpenter’s “The Thing” was loosely based on, but I don’t think it deserves to be on a Trick or Treat poll for Halloween. It’s more appropriate for a vintage horror or sci-fi movie poll. Then it would actually stand a chance of WINNING the poll. Pitting so many different movies on a Halloween-themed poll just makes it into a mainstream popularity contest, instead of being about the best movies for Cassie to watch and react to.

Rod Reavern

Most would make for fun reactions. Not really a Halloween movie but I went with Breakdown to show it some love. Monster, Death, and Abbot would be my other choices. With Underworld in the lead right now, I'll take werewolves vs vampires doing gun-fu and not being Twilight.

Ricardo Rodriguez

Kate Beckinsale is great but “Underworld” isn’t really a Halloween movie. It’s an action movie with… (no spoilers) classic horror monsters fighting each other. If Cassie is going to watch an action movie starring Kate Beckinsale for Halloween, it should be “Van Helsing” (2004).

Rod Reavern

Always voting for old films.

AC5555

I voted for Monster Squad because it’s the most Halloween-themed movie out of all the choices, and it’s a cheesy ‘80s horror movie for kids that I remember watching growing up. Regardless, I have to advocate for TRICK ‘R TREAT (2007) because it is the best Halloween-themed movie EVER. It’s less known because it unfortunately didn’t get a theatrical release, but it’s regarded as a cult classic and some theatres have screened it for Halloween in recent years, so it’s growing in popularity. I know it didn’t even make it onto the Trick or Treat polls, so the chances of it ever winning one of these polls is nil, but it deserves making an exception for! PLEASE Cassie, at least look it up (no spoilers). The cast includes Anna Paquin and Brian Cox from X2: X-Men United and it features one of most iconic Halloween characters ever: Sam, the masked kid in the orange onesie on the cover. When you see him, you’ll be intrigued and want to find out what the movie is about: 🎃 🎃 🎃 🎃

Rod Reavern

She's not winning, her cheesy movie is.

YodatheHobbit

I'm glad Kate Beckinsale is winning this poll.

Johnny

Ok so I'm not mature because I like stuff different than you. It kinda sounds immature to say that to someone. Plus 52 isn't young. I might not be 69 but I've done alot and been through a lot. I wish you so called mature people would stop hounding about classics everytime a poll or reaction would come out. Let Cassie watch what she eatches.

David Freese

She is watching it this week.

Cole Jennett

They live please guys. Cassie needs more Rowdy roddy piper in her life !

Augustine Lee

I really like SWTWC, but no chance to win any poll, a forgotten gem I'm afraid.

Joe

Cassie's reaction to They Live would be better than anything else on this list.

Robert Baldino

I’m disappointed The Frighteners with Michael J. Fox didn’t make it to this year’s poll. However, some very good choices.

Doc Larry

They Live is one of Carpenter's best, but I never thought of it as a horror film. Sci-Fi/Conspiracy definitely.

Ortizmo2000

I'd love for Kurt Russell's Breakdown to win.

Shawn Kildal

I love Underworld, very entertaining film.

Joe

Breakdown is a great thriller. Very underrated.

James1035

30s and 40s is really old movies (haha), but it's not easy to even get many 50s-70s on the channel. Most just won't get many views on you tube.

Joe

Death Becomes Her would be a great Carley movie

Jacob Wagner

They Live wasn't scary for me in the least, but I like the movie, very entertaining.

Joe

Watch the spoilers, many here don't have the watch-a-along tier for Highlander. Good, bad and the ugly is all subjective when it comes to movies.

Joe

She won't watch a Chucky movie either (haha).

Joe

Hahaha ok, that’s fine, I hope she realizes soon that some movies she has on these polls are scarier than ‘Exorcist’ but it is what it is.

JPDotCom23

Some of these are fantastic, but for casting reasons I have to go with Arsenic and Old Lace. And it's really funny.

Paul Stelter

Oh man I love Cabin in the Woods! I had a good idea for a double feature: Plan 9 From Outer Space and then Ed Wood by Tim burton starring Johnny Depp about the making of Plan 9! One of my favorite movies.

Scott Macaulay

I first watched Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein, as well as many of their other films on PBS when I was younger. More recently I periodically watch their most famous skit "Who's On First?" They were the first non baseball personalities to be inducted into the hall of fame for this skit. A more refined version of this skit is in the film The Naughty Nineties, but there are a lot of short videos of just this skit.

Stephen Last

They Live!

Philip Alan

You imagined it. Cassie did an April Fools post which might have fooled you. It is on her NEVER EVER EVER list.

Jon Johns

BREAKDOWN ✅✅✅

N M

"they live" is essential

diego kontarovsky

Original Buffy only at 10% .....what a shame.

Seymor Butz

Death Becomes Her (1992). This "horror-comedy has to be one of the most heartless mainstream pictures ever made." Metacritic 42%, RT 31% = UNDERWORLD (2003) Metacritic 56%, RT 55% = DEATH BECOMES HER (1992) Metacritic 55%, RT 87% = THEY LIVE (1988) Metacritic N/A, RT 89% = ARSENIC AND OLD LACE (1944)

Clay F

We won’t because the good movies never win the polls.

shaneth138

Trivia- Capra directed this just before he went off to serve in WWII but Warner Bro. studio could not release it in Movie Theaters until the Live Play version finished it's run on Broadway. It sat on the shelf for 3 years before it finally got to be seen in movie theaters !

Keith Brown

It’s actually horrible.

shaneth138

It may not be too late. She mentioned doing another round of polls, presumably like this one.

Just Plain Bob

There’s a new trend in these polls where the worst movies always win. She will hate underworld and Constantine as much as she hated Highlander.

shaneth138

It’s the best choice on the list which means it has the least chance to win lol.

shaneth138

This is true. The best Dark Shadows movie is the one made in 1970 with the original cast, House of Dark Shadows.

Mike LL

I don't want to sound like an ass about this but I thought she was finally resigned to watching 'The Exorcist', am I right or did I just imagine that?

JPDotCom23

Breakdown is a good one because that could literally happen to ANYBODY.

Miguel Tapia

They are still good movies! And I watched a full reaction to Arsenic and Old Lace on Patreon in the last week. We are just trying, and trying, to share them with Cassie, too!

Mike LL

"The Thing from Another World" is another one she should put on her watchlist. She already saw the remake John Carpenter's "The Thing"

Bill Maurer

CHAAAAAAAARGE!

Mike LL

I was in a stage version of "Arsenic and Old Lace," so it's near and dear to my heart. Not the highest in the poll, though.

Stephen Dias

That's a good point. It would be Cassie's fourth Frank Capra movie, after It's A Wonderful Life, It Happened One Night, and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington.

Mike LL

She has never watched a Cary Grant comedy, maybe one reason for the hesitation. If she would watch just one, she would want to watch them all! And she should NOT watch it on her own!!!

Mike LL

Death Becomes Her is iconic mandatory viewing. I’m baffled why it’s losing to Underworld.

Aaron Ritchie

Never seen that one. Had no idea Frank Capra directed it. I remember Scorsese saying Night of the Hunter was good too.

Chris Thom

I don't remember Death Becomes Her at all. That might be a fun one to revisit.

Chris Thom

You've got some good choices on here, most of which I've seen! However my votes are for ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN, I know for a fact you're gonna love that one! THE MONSTER SQUAD, such a cult classic, think of it almost like The Goonies meets the Universal Classic Monsters! And finally UNDERWORLD, one of the most awesome action/horror movie franchises ever made, Vampires & Werewolves and the amazing Kate Beckinsale looking beautiful and bad-a at the same time lol! Those are my votes and I hope they get a lot 😁👍

Wesley White

Of the rest of these, I liked the Underworld series . Never seen Breakdown but I ve heard it's very good

John

Buffy really didn’t do it. The tv show was whedon writing excellence and much like the trek universe you’ll have multiple shows overlapping creating a large meshed story.

Go0se

that's your opinion, I love that movie. star studded cast, great story. great ending.

zynjams

I second the motion!

bgb1975

Arsenic and Old Lace, because you ll need a break from the scares and Cary Grant is great, milady.

John

I should have spoken up a little earlier, but I would also like to propose "Time Bandits" as a scary-but-not-too-scary October movie.

bgb1975

Such a great song! First heard it on House M.D. like 16 years ago.

Art of Free Speech

I can't click a choice for some reason, but I pick "Witches of Eastwick"

Don

It’s a bit of a forgotten movie but My best friend is a Vampire is a lot of fun. I’ve gone for the Monster Squad, but I do like a few on this list.

Dean Holt

+1 for Train to Busan

Clay F

Dude, I'm all in for a seniors poll (haha).

Joe

Underworld? Really? I think Cassie is more a Death Becomes Her gal

Odd Thomas

And it's not just Frankenstein, but Dracula and the Wolfman too! (and doesn't the invisible man make an appearance? It's been a while since I've seen it) That was easily my vote but of course far worse movies are winning

John A

The "Underworld" movie series is fun, and perfect for Carly. Good old Vampires vs. Lycans with love stories and they also have Scott Speedman in some from "Felicity" and "Grey's Anatomy" which the girls would love.

Damien beatty

No way Carly would watch Train to Busan, but yeah Panic Room would work for her.

Joe

I love Underworld, gets my vote.

Joe

Hope is a good thing...but not in this case (haha).

Joe

Totally killer was a lot of fun for what it was. Buffy is a must at some point, underworld is not really your cup of tea but I love it.

JohnnyUtah

It’s on Cassie’s “no way” list.

Just Plain Bob

I was hoping the exorcist would make the list

Donald Holloway

Arsenic and Old Lace is a classic Cary Grant screwball movie. You shouyd watch it on your own if it doesn't make the cut.

Jason Mangen

Please go classic , classic with Frank Capra's "Arsenic And Old Lace" (takes place on Halloween night !) and my annual since I was kid October watch "Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein" both are fun watches for both Cassie and Carly and have just the right mix of chills and belly laughs for everyone of all ages !!

Keith Brown

Also: There are no bad Cary Grant movies. ARSENIC AND OLD LACE is another Frank Capra gem and set the stage for all the "Horror Comedies" that came after it. And John Alexander goes waaay over the top and absolutely owns every scene he's in - quite a statement given the caliber of the other actors in the film. (which include Raymond Massey and Peter Lorre).

Above Average Dave

Sorry to read that you had PMS watching some Horror movies, lol

Clayton Johnson

Must be of the Season Of The Witch https://youtu.be/zAWe8oBIRtY?si=UMF6SMUnNPBr3i3P

Zachary K. (Verified Swiftie)

I came here to chew gum and vote on Polls... And I'm all out of bubble gum!

John Deardurff

Monster Squad is such a good movie, and perfect for the “lighter” side of the Scary But Not Too Scary polls. It’s a nice homage to the original Universal monsters. You and Carly would really enjoy this movie. But Underworld being on this particular poll?!?! Uhhhhhhhh….

Dan M

Underworld (2003) is bad. For instance, dumb dialogue. I wanted to like Underworld but impossible. I will be skipping that reaction. While Kate Beckinsale is very nice to look at, and the movie has slick/stylish aspects, the movie comes across as a joke -- stupid, slow, tedious. I voted Arsenic And Old Lace (1944). Been on my watchlist for a while.

Clay F

I love Ray Bradbury. His books are classics.

William Brownlee

Had hoped that Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) might be beyond going to a poll by now. It’s been in a bunch in the past, and it just can’t compete with newer movies. Here’s to still hoping something else happens by the end of the month. It really is a terrific movie and Perfect for a Fun Halloween time. :-)

Larry Darrell

Well...don't get your kernels in a knot. We're all here just having fun. And I can tell you 52 is young compared to my 69. All I have to say is that a lot of younger people have different tastes than us mature people. Still love you guys though.

Anthony Perez

Haha PS = Post Script, PPS = Post Post Script. PMS on the otherhand...

Justin Samlal

Hopefully Train to Busan and Panic Room are under consideration for this October. Those Carly could handle. I don't even consider PR a horror. Just a great suspense thriller.

Brent Petty

Scariest movie that I ever saw as a kid was George C. Scott's "The Changeling" from 1980.

Kevin (31Mike)

Agree, the only John Carpenter movie scarier than they live is The Thing. I watched the Halloween movies and wasn't scared and The Shining didn't scare me either.

Scott Freitag

THEY LIVE is very John Carpenter so she'll be weirded out by that (although hearing her say "...kicking a$$ and chewing bubble gum..." would be fun. Buffy is so camp she'd enjoy it, and other...ONCE BITTEN with a young Jim Carrey, if it were on the list. Monster Squad is a cute, albeit a Goonies style rip-off.

KJ

Monster Squad would be really Carly friendly and on-brand for Halloween. Classic 80s kids adventure in the vein of The Goonies.

Ian Forbes

Once Cassie has seen "Scream", "I Know What You Did Last Summer", and "The Blair Witch Project", then a good Treat movie would be the spoof "Scary Movie" (2000)

JAKH

You can't tell me I'm a youngster when I'm 52 and like the newer movies over classics. I mean I like movies from the 60s and that puts them almost 60 or over in years. There are so exceptions classics just are seen through nostalgia glasses just like I have for 80s movies like Highlander was.

David Freese

Death Becomes Her and Underworld beating They Live. Somebody make it stop.

rakesh

What We Do in the Shadows.

Jake McNulty

I think it's PPS, not PMS, unless you were going for something there. Bloody October? 😏

John A

I’d go with “In the Mouth of Madness” and “Prince of Darkness” for John Carpenter goodness over “The Fog.” That said, I also quite like “The Fog” (just not as much as the others I named).

Just Plain Bob

Out of all the Dark Shadows media the movie is the worst. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp just didn't do the series justice.

David Freese

Heck, make it over 45 and I'd support this.

Stick Figure Studios

@Poperman: Don't worry. I didn't. Wouldn't dream of it.

Stick Figure Studios

I watched the first one once and that was enough for me. God, I hope it doesn't win this poll.

Stick Figure Studios

I also voted for that one. Another classic.

Walter

Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein is fun and a great introduction to the old Universal Monsters movies. Since you like old timey movies you should check this out.

Jeffrey Joll

Arsenic and Old Lace! A classic and Cary Grant, which Cassie needs more of. Death Becomes Her? Yikes.

Walter

Death Becomes Her seems more like a Cassie/Carly movie for sure. But as far as old classics are concerned, y’all should definitely check out Abbott and Costello and Arsenic and Old Lace. Fun movies!

Jonathan Caro

They live please !!!

Neil Varma

Dracula 1931

Brian Wood

Abbott and Costello! Abbott and Costello!

bgb1975

I hope and pray you’re doing IT Chapter 2 this spooky season

CJ Ilano

Great fun. Early Kathryn Bigelow. Love that it's a mini ALIENS reunion.

Matt Rose

High Spirits.

Colin R Walker

For the Tricks poll, please add Near Dark.

John Callahan

Underworld is going to runaway with this poll, but man Buffy would just be entertaining to see Cassie watch this because this is so campy. lol

Alberto Gramatges

Great movies. But I’d want Cassie to at least watch Dracula (1931) and The Wolfman (1941) — and probably Bride of Frankenstein too — before seeing them all assemble with Abbott & Costello.

Silver Machine

After reading through a bunch of comments, maybe your people love old movies!?

John Callahan

Ahh if ‘They live’ is in there we should definitely have ‘The Fog’! Both excellent John Carpenter flicks!

Biggman83

We've been suggesting ARSENIC AND OLD LACE for years so that is one I want to see ON camera!!

Mike LL

Arsenic and old lace!!

AC5555

Agreed. The movie tried hard to be funny, but the series was surprisingly moving drama.

John Callahan

I’m no fan. But it has at least four sequels. Hollywood doesn’t do that for unpopular movies.

Silver Machine

Ok Daniel, putting Totally Killer on my TBW list.

John Callahan

UNDERWORLD is a terrific movie: Kate Beckinsale (in a leather bodysuit) being totally badass and Bill Nighy (in a real departure role) also being totally badass. Fine casting with a bunch of very attractive people being totally badass. Are you detecting a theme here? But honestly, it is very entertaining. I think Abbot & Costello and Arsenic and Old Lace maybe too old for most of your audience. I know them because I'm 70+. Good movies, but...

John Callahan

Although I think Cassie would probably have pause Ghostwatch...several times!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

Underworld?! No shade to those who like it but I had no idea these movies were that popular.

Tyler Foster

Arsenic & Old Lace along with Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein are the perfect double creature comedy fest

Bill Maurer

was hoping Dark Shadows with Johnnie Depp would have made the list

zynjams

BREAKDOWN is a superior thriller for sure, an exemplary entry in that genre. Very well acted and directed.

Matt Rose

Loved Roddy. I was privileged to see the premiere of his short film “Portal From Hell” at Fantastic Fest. They had just secured funding for a feature length version when he passed away. RIP.

Just Plain Bob

I REALLY wanted to vote for "Totally Killer" here, as that is easily one of the funnest and funniest horror genre movies to come out very recently. Plus I love the main actress, Kiernan Shipka, ever since she rocked the best horror movie of 2017, "The Blackcoat's Daughter" (I REALLY hope that film finds its way onto a poll here someday by the way. It is also a film from the new "Longlegs" film writer and director, Oz Perkins). I also want They Live to win at some point. Anyway, in trying to be in-keeping with the theme/point of this particular poll, I am voting for The Monster Squad.

Daniel Allen

Man so many good ones, if break down is the one I think it is, that's one of those hidden gems you kinda forget about. They live though!!!!

Bubba Fett

BREAKDOWN is such an underrated movie. It would terrify Cassie (and Carly) specifically because it's reality-based. A great watch even if it doesn't win!

Above Average Dave

I love Buffy the TV show, but the movie wasn't good.

james sweeney

Amen about Buffy.

Just Plain Bob

Ghostwatch is fantastic!

Just Plain Bob

You would absolutely LOVE Arsenic and Old Lace, and Abbott and Costello. Both are on the Must Watch list on Halloween every year at my house. Definitely more of something Carly would enjoy here in both of these as well.

China Andronicus

ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN is arguably the very best of the A&C films. Extremely funny. ARSENIC AND OLD LACE is also a classic. You won't go wrong with either.

Matt Rose

Oh! It's in the sister poll (the TRICK one)! But it's doing badly there...

Bob Glickstein

Underworld all the way with the understanding that the franchise is completed

LDC7080

Most choices here are meh. But there are few good ones. I voted for They Live as it''s easily the best movie in the poll. Voted for Buffy because I want Cassie to watch the series. And I voted for Underworld because it has the best chance of winning.

Richard Maurer

Man, I hope so. There’s things in 2 I just know she’d be so funny reacting

Jose Deleon

I know it's not on the list but I would choose Mars Attacks! (1996)... or Ghostwatch!!!

JONATHAN REDFERN WILLIAMS

'The Innocents' 1961 'The Bride of Frankenstein' 1935 'It's the Great Pumpkin,Charlie Brown' 1966....'Arsenic & Old Lace' or 'The Witches of Eastwick' polar opisit movies.⭐⭐⭐⭐

Celeste McAllister

I'm here to agree with everything Andrew just said...

Joe

My go-to Halloween-season movie: Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Bob Glickstein

Doesn't look like we're going to find out if wolfman's got nards.

Lemurian Jones

Not sure Underworld is Carly friendly but I voted for it.

Andrew Ramos

I am with you. I think Arsenic and Old Lace & Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein are the two best movies on this list

Hutch

these are the treats one though!

Cassie

I wholeheartedly concur! A great film with some really great performances.

FilmFanFred

I'm thinking that's one of the already planned movies

Chris Retzlaff

Indeed. It won't win, but it keeps it on her radar.

Stick Figure Studios

I dared. What happens now?

Richard Maurer

How is They Live at the bottom? 😆 Also Monster Squad is TOTALLY a Cassie movie!! It's very "cute". Even Carly could enjoy it. But alas, this group always snatches defeat out of the jaws of victory 😆

Todzilla

They Live is on here, fantastic....

Chris Retzlaff

Agreed, and Death becomes her, hilarious

Chris Retzlaff

So good to see Arsenic and old lace in the mix.

Ria Grix

Breakdown should definitely go on a ‘90s thriller poll! Cool movie—would make a great reaction video one day.

Alex Villarreal

They Live is such a classic masterpiece but i dont know if it will win.

Jasbro

@James UK - I voted for Arsenic and Old Lace also

Darren Harrison

I know Arsenic and Old Lace probably won't win, but it is a great screwball comedy starring Cary Grant. Please watch it, even just on your own time. It is a classic. I hate that so many fans won't give old movies a chance.

William Brownlee

I would suggest Dracula: Dead and Loving it

Mike Adams

Ahh yes… October. The month where I skip the vast majority of the reactions as I absolutely loathe horror movies. Hope everyone who enjoys these movies has fun as I’ll be hiding away from them.

Alex Gorell

Please, PLEASE, in the name of all that is unholy, Cassie needs to see WITCHES OF EASTWICK.

T.J. Gengler

Arsenic and Old Lace has zero chance of winning this, but I voted for it because it's a great movie and one of my wife's favorites, and she's a lot like Cassie and Carly when it comes to scary movies. Buffy was a great TV show, but the movie really wasn't.

BibbitduBois

Finally Death Becomes Her is on a poll. One of the great horror comedies, but more on the comedy side. And a hilarious performance by Bruce Willis. People always forget he started in comedy. But all praises have to go to Monster Squad. It was my favorite as a kid, which I probably shouldn't have been watching as early as I was. As and adult is sooooo stupid and makes no sense and I love every second of it! Such a love letter the the Universal Horror Monsters without actually being them (rights issues). Its also where I learned that Wolfman's got nards!

Blake Evans

Ditto. It lost last year as well. Most people don't even remember it, but it's one of the best movies on this list

Caomhan84

I picked "Buffy," in the vain hope it might prompt Cassie to take on the TV show. I know that's unlikely, because it's too long a series. But I would be satisfied if she took the Star Trek: TNG approach and let us pick "Buffy" episodes from each season. Anyway, the "Buffy" movie is OK. The show is outstanding.

Andrew Pulrang

That's the one I voted for. I prefer "They Live" and "Witches of Eastwick," but I don't think Carly would enjoy it. Monster Squad, she'd probably like since she's got kids.

David Blount

So glad you put Breakdown up again! It's such an engaging thriller that is usually overlooked by reactors

David Noone

Early voting says it has a chance to win. Movie does have an exceptional cast!

Mike LL

Come on Cassie. You gotta do The Devil's Advocate and What Lies Beneath

William Bryan

Amen!!!!

brooke atkins

Death Become Her is classic!

R F.

Death becomes her is cult classic I think Cassie would really enjoy. Plus monster squad is an 80’s kids classic. Totally not scary very funny. You and Carly would enjoy that one. Breakdown is great too but can be watched anytime of the year. I really hope death becomes her wins!! Best movie on the poll.

brooke atkins

You should do Death Becomes Her sometime even if it doesn't win the poll, you'll love it! I'm hoping the Witches of Eastwick comes from behind, too. Such a great movie!

Molly Campbell

Here's the problem Cassie...too many youngsters on here voting for new stuff (although some newer movies are good) I suggest that we older people get a vote and a half for every year over 65.

Anthony Perez

Of course Arsenic and Old Lace won’t win, but it has my vote.

James UK

I doubt it has a chance of winning, but I love DEATH BECOMES HER. That is a woefully underrated film.

Stick Figure Studios

I voted for Underworld because Carly enjoys Bad A Money Money Female Empowerment stories.

Uncle Phoenix

Don’t you dare vote for Underworld over Death Becomes Her. Don’t do it! 🤗

Popermen

Buffy! Man it's so good and a couple recent actors we've lost Donald Sutherland, Luke Perry, Paul Ruebens (I'm starting to think it's cursed) Man I love it.

Morgan A. Colbert

No brainer here... - "The Monster Squad" for me... a massive favorite...

Jens Kristensen

Monster Squad definitely deserves a reaction. One of the best quotable lines from the 80s that I can't say here.

Jon Hoover

Oh my heart! ARSENIC AND OLD LACE! Scheduling the doctor appointment right now for if this movie loses another poll!!

Mike LL

Please do breakdown!!!! If not for halloween sometime, that is def up your alley and such an underrated gem

Andrew Heller

Three cheers for Rowdy Roddy!!!

Rosario Cicero

We gotta get IT pt2

Jose Deleon

Death Becomes Her would be a fun watch

Gray

They live there is no other option!

rakesh

Death Becomes her is so good

Miguel Tapia
